RESUMO
This case report presents a clinical and radiographic follow-up (38 months) of pulpectomy treatment performed on maxillary primary anterior teeth using Vitapex. Vitapex was resorbed extraradicularly and intraradicularly without apparent ill effect, and proved to be clinically and radiographically successful. The present case report illustrates that even if the paste resorbs within the canals, the clinical and radiographical outcome is excellent. A longer follow-up is recommended to evaluate if there is any effect on the permanent succedaneous tooth.

Self mutilation of lips and tongue is considered a common type of Self-Injurious Behavior (SIB). Treatment of SIB in the form of Lip-Biting in developmentally disabled individuals has been the focus of several related reports using different oral appliances preventing or inhibiting the SIB. In this paper we report a case of SIB in the form of Lip-Biting on an infant with Chiari Type II Malformation which was treated with a Lip-bumper. The Lip-bumper demonstrated to be a viable option in treating transient and acute episodes of SIB involving the lower lip and buccal mucosa.

The one-session technique presented in this clinical evaluation is supported in part by the high clinical and radiographic success rate obtained. The principal advantages of the Vitapex paste are that it resorbs from the apical tissues in one week to two months, is apparently harmless to permanent tooth germs, is radiopaque, does not set to a hard mass, and is easily inserted and removed.

The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of dental caries and the use of dental services in a pediatric population of Mexican-American migrant workers. The results were compared with the Mexican-American child population from the Hispanic Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (HHANES). One hundred thirty three-to-sixteen-year-old children participated in the study. The children who were born in Mexico and those who spoke Spanish had seen the dentist less often and had a higher incidence of decayed teeth than those who were born in the US and than those who spoke English (p < 0.05). The children from low-income families had visited the dentist less frequently and did so at an older age than those from high income families (p < 0.05). When compared with HHANES, the children in this study visited the dentist at an older age, had been to the dentist less often, were less likely to have dental insurance, and had a higher incidence of dental caries than the children from HHANES (p > 0.05). This study demonstrated a general lack of dental health knowledge, a disproportionate prevalence of decayed teeth and unmet dental need in the Mexican-American migrant workers' children.
