AIMS: We prospectively evaluated the association of circulating retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) levels in early pregnancy and risk of incident gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in pregnant women. METHODS: A nested case-control study was conducted among 332 women who developed GDM and 664 matched controls based on the Tongji-Shuangliu Birth Cohort. GDM was diagnosed during 24-28 weeks of gestation according to the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Group criteria. Serum RBP4 levels in early pregnancy (6-15 weeks of gestation) were determined by ELISA assay. Multivariable conditional logistic regression models were used to analyse the association and generated the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). EMBASE and PubMed were searched up to 30 November 2020 to identify studies investigating the association between blood RBP4 levels in early pregnancy and incident GDM. RESULTS: In the multivariable model with adjustment of potential risk factors, the OR comparing the extreme quartiles of serum RBP4 levels was 2.26 (95% CI: 1.34, 3.81; p for trend <0.001), and each standard deviation (SD) increment of RBP4 was associated with 1.39-fold (95% CI: 1.15, 1.69) higher risk of GDM. The results were confirmed in a meta-analysis that included additional four studies with an overall OR of 1.47 (95% CI: 1.18, 1.83) per 1-SD increment of RBP4. CONCLUSIONS: Serum RBP4 levels in early pregnancy, independent of metabolic risk factors, are positively associated with the risk of GDM in pregnant women. Our findings may provide new insights into the mechanisms underlying the aetiology of GDM.

BACKGROUND: To address the clinical features and potential risk factors of ovarian pregnancy (OP). METHODS: In this retrospective case-control study performed in West China Second University Hospital from March 17, 2005 to December 8, 2018, 146 OP patients were selected as a case group, 292 patients with tubal pregnancy (TP) and 292 women with intrauterine pregnancy (IUP) were matched as controls at a ratio of 1:2:2. RESULTS: When compared with TP patients, OP patients tend to have worse clinical complications (hemorrhagic shock (7.41% vs 2.89%), rupture of pregnancy sac (54.07% vs 37.78%), hemoperitoneum (363.1 ± 35.46 ml vs 239.3 ± 27.61 ml) and increased need for emergency laparotomy (9.60% vs 3.97%) at an early gestational age. Assisted reproductive technology (ART) (adjusted OR1 2.08, 95%CI 1.04 to 4.18; adjusted OR2 2.59, 95%CI 1.25 to 5.37) and intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) use (adjusted OR1 2.19, 95%CI 1.10 to 4.36; adjusted OR2 2.77, 95%CI 1.74 to 5.71) may be risk factors for ovarian ectopic pregnancy as compared to the control groups of TP and IUP patients. CONCLUSIONS: OP patients tend to have more severe clinical complications and this study has identified ART and IUD use as potential risk factors for OP. Results of this study may contribute to improve the understanding of OP and promote early surgical intervention.

PURPOSE: Endometriosis (EMS) is confirmed pathophysiologically to be an estrogen-dependent disease, similar to endometrial hyperplasia/cancer and breast cancer. Epidemiological and biological data on endometriosis might explain links between endometriosis and these cancers. We sought to identify the differences in the risk of endometrial cancer and breast cancer between women with and women without endometriosis. METHODS: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and four Chinese databases (CNKI, VIP, WanFang, CBM) to identify relevant studies published online between January 2011 and March 2021. In our meta-analysis, we used the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) to evaluate the design and quality of all studies, and we calculated the pooled risk ratio (RR) using the random model. The Q test and I2 were used to evaluate the degree of heterogeneity of eligible studies. We used funnel plots and Begg's and Egger's tests to assess publication bias. RESULTS: Of the 1369 articles, we finally included 14 cohort studies and seven case-control studies. Data from large cohort and case-control studies indicate that women with endometriosis had an increased risk of both endometrial cancer [RR, 1.662; 95% CI, (1.148-2.407)] and breast cancer [RR, 1.082; 95% CI, (1.001-1.169)]. CONCLUSION: Endometriosis can increase the risk of endometrial cancer and breast cancer, and women with endometriosis are recommended to receive routine screening in long-term management.

OBJECTIVE: Cervical cancer diagnosed during pregnancy is a rare event, and data regarding efficacy of cancer treatment during pregnancy is limited. This study aimed to assess the safety of continuation of the pregnancy for mother and fetus when concomitantly diagnosed with cervical cancer. METHODS: This study retrospectively analyzed all cervical cancer patients diagnosed while pregnant or immediately postpartum, inclusive from Jan 2010 to June 2019 at our institute. Patient clinical details and follow-up were obtained from hospital records. RESULTS: The study comprised 40 patients with clinical cancer stages of IA1 (1/40, 2.5%); IB1 (15/40, 37.5%); IB2 (10/40, 25%); IIA (12/40, 30%); and IIB (2/40, 5%). There were 38 patients diagnosed during pregnancy, and 2 diagnosed in the postpartum period. Of the 38 patients, 17 were diagnosed in the first trimester, 13 in the second trimester, and 8 in the third trimester. 10 of 38 patients (26.3%) continued their pregnancy after learning of their diagnosis; 7 (70%) in the third trimester and 3 (30%) in the second trimester. The mean time from diagnosis to surgery in the patients who continued their pregnancy was 52.7 days, which was statistically significantly greater than the termination of pregnancy group (52.7 vs. 16.3 days, P < 0.01). Notably, there was no survival difference between the 2 groups (100% vs. 90.91%, P = 0.54), and none of the pregnant women who ultimately died had delayed treatment due to pregnancy. Similarly, the surgical estimated blood loss and operative duration comparison in the 2 groups were not significantly different. CONCLUSIONS: In the present study, the gestational age of pregnancy at the time of initial diagnosis of cervical cancer was an important determinant in the disease management. Continuation of the pregnancy when diagnosed with cervical cancer may not affect the oncologic outcome of the mother nor increase either surgical or obstetric complications. Additionally, the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy did not threaten the health of the fetus. These results may be useful in counseling patients facing the diagnosis of cervical cancer during pregnancy.

BACKGROUND: Prophylactic uterine artery embolization (UAE) combined with subsequent curettage is suggested as an effective and minimally invasive treatment strategy for cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) with a high bleeding risk. However, the timing of curettage after UAE remains to be studied. Thus, we aimed to identify the optimal time interval to perform curettage after UAE in patients with CSP. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study in a large medical center for women and children in Southwest China. CSP patients treated by UAE combined with subsequent curettage were included and grouped by the treatment time interval between these two procedures. The clinical outcomes among arms were compared by univariate and multivariable analysis. RESULTS: Our study included 314 CSP patients who received this combination treatment in our department from January 2014 to December 2019. The median time interval between UAE and curettage was 48 h, with a range of 12-168 h among all participants. Thirty-two patients (10.2%) experienced intraoperative hemorrhage (blood loss ≥200 mL). Intrauterine balloon tamponade was used in 17 cases (5.4%). In 14 cases (4.5%), the procedure was converted to laparoscopy (or laparotomy). In the cohort study, patients with longer treatment intervals had more intraoperative blood loss and a higher incidence of complications than those with shorter intervals (P < 0.05). The rates of intraoperative bleeding were 5.0% for patients who received curettage within 24 h after UAE (Arm 1) and 19.4% for those who had a treatment interval longer than 72 h (Arm 4). In the multivariable logistic regression model of bleeding, a treatment interval > 72 h had an adjusted odds ratio of 3.37 (95% confidence interval: 1.40-8.09). CONCLUSION: We suggest that curettage not be delayed longer than 72 h after UAE in this combined treatment of CSP.

STUDY OBJECTIVE: To perform a radical hysterectomy for early-stage cervical cancer through laparoendoscopic single-site (LESS) approach and demonstrate if the effective suspension could achieve different exposed purposes and space extension. DESIGN: Presentation of the surgery through this technical video. SETTING: Hospital. INTERVENTIONS: A 52-year-old menopausal woman who presented with postcoital bleeding for 3 months was diagnosed with poorly differentiated (G3) cervical squamous cell carcinoma with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage IB1. The patient was carefully consulted about the oncologic risks of the different surgical approaches; thereafter, the LESS approach was decided with informed consent. The LESS procedures for staging surgery were completed. The estimated blood loss was 60 mL, and operation time was 250 minutes. Results of the pathology report showed G3 squamous cell carcinoma and no pelvic lymph nodes metastases. The Foley catheter was removed on the 21st day, and the bladder function recovered completely after removal. She was followed up for a year without any evidence of recurrence or complications. CONCLUSION: Because of technical difficulties with a limited number of hands, complex surgeries, such as radical hysterectomy, have rarely been performed using the LESS approach [1]. The dissection of vesicocervical and parametrial space is critical to radical hysterectomy, and inadequate exposure to these spaces during the procedure presents major difficulties [2]. In the video, surgery for cervical cancer was performed successfully and met the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics' standards for type C radical hysterectomy. Our video demonstrated that the varied and flexible suspension played a significant role in providing clear vision and sufficient exposure; furthermore, it was feasible, effective, and safe in the LESS approach [3,4].

Differentiation antagonizing non-protein coding RNA (DANCR) is a newly identified oncogenic long noncoding RNA found in various cancers. However, the functional role of DANCR in tumor angiogenesis and the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. The expression of DANCR was determined in ovarian malignant tissues and cell lines. The functional role of DANCR in tumor angiogenesis was revealed by the following methods: CD31 staining of ovarian tumor tissues, matrigel-plug assay tissues, HUVEC-related tube formation assay, and invasion assay. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, Western blotting, luciferase assay, and rescue experiments were used to investigate the underlying mechanisms of DANCR-regulating angiogenesis. DANCR was upregulated in ovarian malignant tissues and ovarian cancer cells. Knockdown of DANCR efficiently impaired ovarian tumor growth through inhibition of tumor angiogenesis. Furthermore, the conditional culture medium from DANCR-knockdown ovarian cells significantly inhibited tube formation and invasion of HUVEC in vitro. Mechanistic investigation indicated that vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A, VEGF) plays a crucial role during DANCR inhibition of tumor angiogenesis in ovarian cancer. Further results demonstrated that miR-145 is the direct binding target of DANCR during regulation of VEGF expression and tumor angiogenesis in ovarian cancer cells. Collectively, DANCR plays a promotional role in tumor angiogenesis in ovarian cancer through regulation of miR-145/VEGF axis. Therefore, DANCR may be a novel therapy target for ovarian cancer.

STUDY OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the procedure and suspension skills of laparoendoscopic single-site (LESS) staging surgery with infrarenal para-aortic lymphadenectomy for early-stage ovarian cancer. DESIGN: A presentation of the surgery through this technical video. SETTING: A hospital. PATIENT AND INTERVENTIONS: A 45-year-old woman presented with a pelvic mass on gynecologic examination and a serum cancer antigen 125 level of 5910 U/mL (normal = <35 U/mL). A computed tomographic scan revealed a mixture of solid and cystic components (70 × 77 × 71 mm) arising from the right ovary and characterized by the "ovarian vascular pelvic" sign. Clinically early-stage ovarian cancer was suspected. Subsequently, LESS staging surgery was performed by an experienced surgeon in our department. RESULTS: The surgery lasted 280 minutes, and the volume of blood loss was 50 mL; there were no intra- or postoperative complications. We "hid" the incision perfectly for cosmetic purposes. The histopathologic findings supported high-grade serous ovarian cancer of the right ovary with the left fallopian tube involved as well. In addition, a total of 34 negative pelvic and 18 negative para-aortic lymph nodes were identified, and a stage of IIA was diagnosed as a result. CONCLUSION: We performed an LESS staging surgery for early-stage ovarian cancer successfully. Our video shows that the LESS approach provided feasible, cosmetic, and safe access among the selected malignant gynecologic surgery. Therefore, we have experienced that the effective suspension was an auxiliary measure for LESS lymphadenectomy. In addition, compared with multiport laparoscopy, the LESS approach could provide easier access to infrarenal para-aortic regions; furthermore, it was safe and quick to extract an unknown sample.

INTRODUCTION: Orlistat possesses anti-tumor capacity by inducing apoptosis in ovarian cancer cells. However, the mechanism is not clearly understood. Emerging evidence indicates the overlaps between autophagy and apoptosis. In this study, we have investigated the role of autophagy in orlistat-induced apoptosis in ovarian cancer (OC) cells. METHODS: The effect of orlistat on apoptosis was evaluated in SKOV3 and A2780 cell lines by MTT and TUNEL assay. The formations of autophagosomes were observed by acridine orange and GFP-LC3 fluorescence. In addition, conversions of LC3-I to LC3-II were analyzed by western blot, as well as other autophagy-related proteins. 3-Methyladenine (3-MA) was used as an autophagy inhibitor in combined treatment with orlistat. Western blot was further conducted to investigate the molecular mechanisms of orlistat-affected apoptosis and autophagy on protein level. RESULTS: The proliferation activities of OC cells were inhibited by orlistat in a dose-dependent manner. The expressions of cleaved-caspase 3 and 9 in orlistat-treated cells were increasing, which suggested that orlistat-induced apoptosis was caspase-dependent. At the same time, the average number of GFP-LC3 dots per cell was increased after 48 h of orlistat treatment. The expression levels of LC3-II were significantly up-regulated, as well as other autophagy-related proteins such as Vsp34, Atg7 and UVRAG. These results suggested orlistat-induced autophagy flux, which was further found involved in inhibiting the Akt/mTOR/p70S6K signaling pathway. However, combined treatment of orlistat and 3-MA significantly suppressed the cell viability, which indicated a pro-survival role of autophagy in OC cells. CONCLUSION: We suggested that orlistat had anti-cancer effect in OC cells. In addition, autophagy played a pro-survival role, suppressing which the orlistat-induced anti-cancer effect would be more significant.

PURPOSE: Cell cycle is mainly mediated by cyclins, cyclin- dependent kinases (CDK), and CDK inhibitors. Cyclin E is the main regulator for transition from G1 to S phase, and is involved in cancer pathogenesis, progression and metastasis. Nevertheless, there is still a controversy of the prognostic value of cyclin E overexpression in ovarian cancer patients. This meta-analysis is the first study aimed at analyzing the effect of cyclin E overexpression on the prognosis of ovarian cancer. METHODS: By systematically searching the PUBMED, EMBASE and MEDLINE databases for relevant articles with publication dates up to January 2016 and selection following inclusion and exclusion criteria, 8 studies with 1470 patients were enrolled in our meta-analysis. The overall survival (OS) of patients with cyclin E overexpression was calculated using hazard ratio (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The studies were categorized according to the author and year, demographic data in each study, ovarian cancer related information, and cyclin E cut-off value. RESULTS: Cyclin E overexpression in ovarian cancer was a poor prognostic factor with statistical significance for OS (HR=1.48, 95%CI: 1.12,1.85). Using confunnel, we found no publication bias in our analysis. CONCLUSION: Cyclin E might be considered as a prognostic factor for ovarian cancer, as supported by our meta-analysis. However, more high-quality studies should be conducted to find better clinical use of cyclin E in ovarian cancer.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the morbidity of complications and pregnancy outcomes in women with mechanical heart valve replacement who received low-dose oral anticoagulation treatment with warfarin throughout the pregnancy, compare the prognosis and complications of patients who were treated with single oral warfarin treatment or the "bridging" therapy treatment, investigate the influence of using vitamin K1 before emergency cesarean section delivery on postoperative warfarin anticoagulant effect and to explore an appropriate anticoagulant regimen during perioperative period for pregnant women with mechanical heart valve replacement. METHOD: 46 pregnant women with mechanical heart valve replacement who received low-dose oral anticoagulation treatment from October 2008 to October 2014 treated at West China Women's and Children's Hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Eight patients received emergency cesarean section (CS), while 38 patients received selective CS, in which 17 patients received single oral warfarin and 21 patients received "bridging" anticoagulation treatment during postoperative period. Morbidity of complications and the time to achieve the target INR after operation were compared. RESULTS: The mechanical valves were at the mitral position in 35 (76.09 %) patients, at the aortic position in 2 (4.35 %) patient and at both the mitral and aortic position in 9 (19.57 %) patients. 46 full-term healthy babies were delivered and no maternal thromboembolic was observed during pregnancy. There was no significant difference of the amount of uterine bleeding between single oral warfarin group and "bridging" treatment group during postpartum period. In single oral warfarin group, one valve thrombosis was observed and led to sudden death. No periphery thrombosis, hematoma, general hemorrhage or other sign of over-anticoagulation was observed. The INR increased more slowly in the group who received emergency CS with preoperative application of vitamin K1 than other two groups. CONCLUSION: The use of vitamin K1 preoperatively might result in warfarin resistance and discontinuation of warfarin therapy before selective CS might be more appropriate than application of vitamin K1. The "bridging" anticoagulation treatment which combines oral warfarin and subcutaneous LMWH might be more effective and safer than single oral warfarin therapy for patients with mechanical heart valve replacement during postoperative period, no matter selective or emergency CS. The safety of low-dose oral warfarin therapy throughout pregnancy is still under controversy.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the clinical application value of internal iliac artery balloon occlusion in pernicious placenta previa. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of the patients of pernicious placenta previa in a single center from Jan, 2010 to Jan, 2015. The patients were divided into two groups, internal iliac artery balloon occlusion group and the control group without endovascular intervention. Blood loss in operation, volume of transfused blood products, caesarean hysterectomy, operating time, hospital days after operation and postoperative morbidity were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The balloon occlusion group had significantly less blood loss, the volume of transfused blood products, caesarean hysterectomy, hospital day after operation than the control group had. There was no statistical difference in operating time, intensive care units (ICU), hypotension, infection, hypoxemia, bladder injury, bowel obstruction, neonatal asphyxia between the two groups. The balloon occlusion group had significantly higher rate in coagulopathy, hypoalbuminemia, electrolyte imbalance. Among the patients whose uterus were preserved, the blood loss was not significantly difference between the two groups. Among the patients with the complication of placenta accreta, caesarean hysterectomy was less in balloon group, and blood loss between the two groups was not significantly different. Among the patients without placenta accrete, the blood loss was less in balloon group, and caesarean hysterectomy between the two groups was not significantly different. The risk of hysterectomy in balloon group was related to placenta accreta, uterine arteries engorgement, placental invasive serosa, taking placenta by hand, placental invasive bladder, barrel-shaped thickening of lower uterine segment, unable to remove placenta. CONCLUSIONS: Internal iliac artery balloon occlusion is an effective treatment for pernicious placenta previa.

Chloroquine diphosphate (CQ) was ingeniously used to take place of phosphate salt in traditional calcium phosphate coprecipitation method for pDNA transfection. With multiple roles of CQ in the novel Ca-CQ-pDNA complex including pDNA compaction and assistance in lysosome escape, the transfection efficiency of the pDNA was significantly increased relative to the traditional method. CQ did not intercalate into the DNA double helix as free CQ did, which was probably ascribed to the prior mixing of the pDNA with high concentration of calcium chloride. In order to construct efficacious vector for in vivo gene delivery, Ca-CQ-pDNA-PLGA-NPs was designed and prepared. With entrapment efficiency, particle size and pDNA integrity as screening conditions, the optimal prescription was obtained and CaPi-pDNA-PLGA-NPs made with classic calcium phosphate coprecipitation method after optimization was also prepared as control to systematically study the role of CQ in the novel vector. Physical characters of the vectors were comprehensively studied using TEM, DSC, and XRD. The safety of the vector both in vitro and in vivo was evaluated using MTT, hemolysis test, and histological sections. The Ca-CQ-pDNA-PLGA-NPs dramatically enhanced the gene tranfection efficiency in Human Embryonic kidney HEK293 cells compared with the CaPi-pDNA-PLGA-NPs and presented an increasing gene transfection for up 144 h. The relative fast release of the CQ compared with pDNA from the nanoparticles was responsive for the increased transfection. The Did-labeled-Ca-CQ-pDNA-PLGA-NPs exhibited excellent tumor targeting efficiency and sustained circulation time in CT26 mouse model. The Ca-CQ-pDNA-PLGA-NP loaded with the plasmid pVITRO2 expressing mSurvivin-T34A protein gave 70% tumor inhibition rate, which was partially ascribed to CQ. The Ca-CQ-pDNA-PLGA-NPs showed high targeting efficiency in C57 acute pancreatitis model. In all, the Ca-CQ-pDNA-PLGA-NP was a promising candidate for targeted gene delivery to both tumor and pancreatitis.

Adenomyosis is a common estrogen-dependent disorder of females characterized by a downward extension of the endometrium into the uterine myometrium and neovascularization in ectopic lesions. It accounts for chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia, and infertility in 8.8-61.5% women worldwide. However, the molecular mechanisms for adenomyosis development remain poorly elucidated. Here, we utilized a two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis/MS-based proteomics analysis to compare and identify differentially expressed proteins in matched ectopic and eutopic endometrium of adenomyosis patients. A total of 93 significantly altered proteins were identified by tandem MS analysis. Further cluster analysis revealed a group of estrogen-responsive proteins as dysregulated in adenomyosis, among which annexin A2, a member of annexin family proteins, was found up-regulated most significantly in the ectopic endometrium of adenomyosis compared with its eutopic counterpart. Overexpression of ANXA2 was validated in ectopic lesions of human adenomyosis and was found to be tightly correlated with markers of epithelial to mesenchymal transition and dysmenorrhea severity of adenomyosis patients. Functional analysis demonstrated that estrogen could remarkably up-regulate ANXA2 and induce epithelial to mesenchymal transition in an in vitro adenomyosis model. Enforced expression of ANXA2 could mediate phenotypic mesenchymal-like cellular changes, with structural and functional alterations in a ß-catenin/T-cell factor (Tcf) signaling-associated manner, which could be reversed by inhibition of ANXA2 expression. We also proved that enforced expression of ANXA2 enhanced the proangiogenic capacity of adenomyotic endometrial cells through HIF-1α/VEGF-A pathway. In vivo, we demonstrated that ANXA2 inhibition abrogated endometrial tissue growth, metastasis, and angiogenesis in an adenomyosis nude mice model and significantly alleviated hyperalgesia. Taken together, our data unraveled a dual role for ANXA2 in the pathogenesis of human adenomyosis through conferring endometrial cells both metastatic potential and proangiogenic capacity, which could serve as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of adenomyosis patients.

The overall survival of patients with cervical cancer has improved due to detection at an early stage and availability of comprehensive treatments in China. As patients' lives prolonged, it is important to understand their health-related quality of life (QoL) during and after treatment. We used the EQ-5D questionnaire to assess QoL of 194 patients with cervical lesions at Sichuan University West China Second Hospital between May 2010 and January 2011. Patients were surveyed before primary treatment and at 1, 3, and 6 months after primary treatment. Results showed a consistent decline in EQ-5D scores in the spectrum of cervical lesions at each time point after treatment (all P < 0.05). For patients with precursor lesions, there was an increasing trend along the timeline of treatment (P < 0.01). For patients with early-stage cervical cancer, EQ-5D scores declined in the first month (P = 0.01) and gradually increased to higher levels at 6 months post-treatment than those before treatment (P < 0.01). EQ-5D scores followed a similar trend in patients with advanced cervical cancer (P = 0.04), though they did not statistically rebound after 6 months (0.84 ± 0.19 vs. 0.86 ± 0.11, P = 0.62). Regarding advanced cervical cancer, EQ-5D scores for women above 40 years of age appeared to recover more rapidly and reached higher levels than those for women below 40 years (P = 0.03). Caution and extra care are recommended in the early period of cervical cancer treatment given the slight deterioration in the QoL, and in particular, for younger cervical cancer patients. Our study implies that health care providers may need to improve the health-related QoL of cervical cancer patients.

Intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVL) is a rare benign disease, which typically develops along vascular vessels and extends to the inferior vena cava and right atrium of the heart. In the early stages of the disease, the clinical manifestations and the results of imaging examinations are not uniform among patients. Thus, a high rate of misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis is common. When the tumor extends along the venous system to the pelvic floor vein or through the inferior vena cava involving the right atrium of the heart or the pulmonary artery, severe symptoms occur, such as ascites, dyspnea, heart failure and even sudden mortality. Improving the understanding of IVL to identify and evaluate this disease in its early stages is important. Complete tumor resection remains the primary treatment option for IVL. The recurrence rate of the disease varies depending on multiple factors, such as type of surgical procedure performed. Therefore, long-term follow-up is necessary for patients with IVL. The review of recent findings on the molecular and clinicopathological characterization of IVL is important to understand the pathogenesis of IVL. In the present study, the clinical manifestations, pathogenesis, differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of IVL are summarized in order to provide a single source of insightful information on IVL.

Methods: Related studies on PD and ferroptosis were searched in Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) from inception to 2023. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, RStudio, and Scimago Graphica were employed as bibliometric analysis tools to generate network maps about the collaborations between authors, countries, and institutions and to visualize the co-occurrence and trends of co-cited references and keywords. Results: A total of 160 original articles and reviews related to PD and ferroptosis were retrieved, produced by from 958 authors from 162 institutions. Devos David was the most prolific author, with 9 articles. China and the University of Melbourne had leading positions in publication volume with 84 and 12 publications, respectively. Current hot topics focus on excavating potential new targets for treating PD based on ferroptosis by gaining insight into specific molecular mechanisms, including iron metabolism disorders, lipid peroxidation, and imbalanced antioxidant regulation. Clinical studies aimed at treating PD by targeting ferroptosis remain in their preliminary stages. Conclusion: A continued increase was shown in the literature within the related field over the past decade. The current study suggested active collaborations among authors, countries, and institutions. Research into the pathogenesis and treatment of PD based on ferroptosis has remained a prominent topic in the field in recent years, indicating that ferroptosis-targeted therapy is a potential approach to halting the progression of PD.

Achieving high power conversion efficiency in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) heavily relies on fabricating homogeneous perovskite films. However, understanding microscopic-scale properties such as current generation and open-circuit voltage within perovskite crystals has been challenging due to difficulties in quantifying intragrain behavior. In this study, the local current intensity within state-of-the-art perovskite films mapped by conductive atomic force microscopy reveals a distinct heterogeneity, which exhibits a strong anticorrelation to the external biases. Particularly under different external bias polarities, specific regions in the current mapping show contrasting conductivity. Moreover, grains oriented differently exhibit varied surface potentials and currents, leading us to associate this local current heterogeneity with the grain orientation. It was found that the films treated with isopropanol exhibit ordered grain orientation, demonstrating minimized lattice heterogeneity, fewer microstructure defects, and reduced electronic disorder. Importantly, devices exhibiting an ordered orientation showcase elevated macroscopic optoelectronic properties and boosted device performance. These observations underscore the critical importance of fine-tuning the grain homogenization of perovskite films, offering a promising avenue for further enhancing the efficiency of PSCs.
