RESUMO
Induction of and, if possible, a physiological process of wound healing involves the selection of proper covering of the wound. Unequivocal evidence was provided that a moist medium resembling a closed blister is optimal. In the presented paper the authors summarize briefly processes which proceed during the inflammatory, proliferative, remodelling and reepithelization stage of healing. The authors also mention properties, indications, contraindications and their own experience with the use of hydrocolloids. In venous ulcerations the basis of treatment is correct application of compression. Hydrocolloids do not rule out concurrent use of additional physical methods (pneumatic instruments, TENS etc.). The authors mention also the economic effect of treatment.

Ultraviolet radiation causes increase of production of the reactive oxygen species in the human skin, which are responsible for oxidative stress and damage of many important cellular components in the target tissue. The complex of antioxidants represents the major protective system against the oxidative damage of the skin. Many antioxidants, namely vitamin E, can be successfully used in photoprotection.
