[Donor immunization with an inactivated concentrated purified vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis to obtain immune blood preparations]. / Immunizatsiia donorov inaktivirovannoi kontsentratrirovannoi ochishchennoi vaktsinoi protiv kleshchevogo éntsefalita dlia polucheniia immunnykh preparatov krovi.

Vaccination of seronegative and seropositive donors with a concentrated purified vaccine (CV) against tick-borne encephalitis induced antibody synthesis in a concentration sufficient for preparation of donor immunoglobulin with antibody titres of 1:320 to 1:1280 by HI test. The resulting preparation showed a high antiviral activity both in vivo and in vitro against antigenically different strains of tick-borne encephalitis virus. The immune plasma derived from CV-immunized donors had a therapeutic effect in patients with tick-borne encephalitis. The optimal schedules for immunization of donors are discussed.

The trial of experimental vaccine consisting of protective protein antigens of P. aeruginosa cell wall was carried out on 114 volunteers. The vaccine proved to be faintly reactogenic and induced the formation of specific humoral immunity in 98% of the volunteers who retained a high level of anti-P. aeruginosa antibodies in their blood for up to 5 months (the term of observation after the course of immunization was over.

[The fractional composition of immunoglobulin preparations studied by gel filtration on different carriers and by high-pressure liquid chromatography]. / Izuchenie fraktsionnogo sostava preparatov immunoglobulinov metodom gel'-fil'tratsii na razlichnykh nositeliakh i metodom zhidkostnoi khromatografii vysokogo davleniia.

The fractional composition of immunoglobulin preparations produced by different manufacturing enterprises of this country has been studied by gel chromatography in columns packed with different carriers (Sephadex G-200 and ultragel AcA-34) and by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This study has revealed the nonstandard character of immunoglobulin preparations produced according to the same technological procedure (modified Cohn's method). The fractionation of immunoglobulins on different carriers with the use of different methods has yielded similar results confirmed by the statistical processing of the data. The results obtained in the study of the fractional composition of immunoglobulin preparations evidence that gel filtration with the use of ultragel and HPLC have greater resolving capacity in comparison with the method of gel filtration on traditionally used Sephadex G-200.

[The initial trial of the clinical use of FK-1 glue in surgical interventions]. / Pervyi opyt klinicheskogo primeneniia kleia FK-1 pri operativnykh vmeshatel'stvakh.

The article presents results of a comparative clinical trial of the preparation "fibrinous glue" (FK-1) and "Beriplast" in operations on the lungs for hermetization of the wound and the lung as well as in reconstructive plastic gynecological operations. Intraoperative hermetization in operations on the lungs was obtained in 67% of the cases when using "FK-1" and in 64% with "Beriplast". In all the cases the lung was spread during 12 hours after operation. The visual intraoperative assessment of using "FK-1" and control laparoscopy on the 4th-5th days after operation showed its good effect in gynecological procedures. Clinical trials of the new domestic fibrinous glue "FK-1" in surgical and gynecological clinics confirmed its high medical effectiveness.

[Comparative study of the quality of domestic albumin solution and foreign analogs]. / Sravnitel'noe izuchenie kachestva otechestvennogo rastvora al'bumina i zarubezhnykh analogov.

The quality and standards of albumin solutions (5, 10 and 20%) made in this country meet the requirements of national specification documentation. This, however, lacks some standards included into European Pharmacopoeia and mandatory for foreign manufacturers (Na and K ions, hemipigments, polymers, thermostability). The comparative tests of the albumin solutions made in Russia and abroad by conventional European standards showed that Russian solutions by some parameters are inferior to foreign samples. This urges improvement of the solution production technology as well as updating technical documents regulating the product quality.

Vaccines against Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection: 2. Clinico-immunological investigations.

A new multicomponent Pseudomonas vaccine 'pyoimmunogen' has been developed. It was tested for safety and immunogenicity by immunization of volunteer donors and burned patients. Immune plasma obtained from volunteers was used for treatment of severe forms of P. aeruginosa infections. Pyoimmunogen was shown to be of low toxicity for apparently healthy humans and to induce specific antibody formation. In 16 out of 20 burned patients it had a beneficial effect on the course of the disease and the period of hospitalization was shortened. As a result of complex treatment involving the use of anti-P. aeruginosa plasma 51 out of 60 patients recovered.

Clinico-immunological trials of Pseudomonas aeruginosa vaccine.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa vaccine (PV) containing predominantly cell-wall protein protective antigens was tested for safety and immunogenicity by immunization of 119 volunteers. The criteria for safety and immunogenicity were the absence of serious post-vaccinal reactions or complications either during immunization or 12 months later. There were mild (19 donors or 15.9%) and moderate (three donors or 2.5%) febrile reactions after immunization and in two volunteers the body temperature increased up to 38 degrees C, however it decreased to normal values within 24 h. We observed in 43 (36.1%) of volunteers mild and in five (4.2%) moderate local reactions which disappeared within 24 h. Using the ELISA and passive mouse protection test it was shown that PV induces the formation of specific antibodies. A high level of specific antibodies persisted for the 5-month period of observation. The antibody titres increased in 94-97% of volunteers and moreover in 45.6% the antibody titres (the number of ELISA units) increased 2.5-3-fold and more. Anti-P. aeruginosa plasma was used for the treatment of 46 patients with severe forms of P. aeruginosa infection (40 adults and six infants aged up to 2 years) and 87% of the patients recovered.
