RESUMO
It has been established that in addition to other factors, the clinico-laboratory manifestations of pneumonias depend on the localization of the inflammatory process in the lungs. Provided pneumonias are localized in the upper lobes, they are characterized by scanty symptomatology, prolonged course and unpronounced changes in the general blood analysis. If pneumonias are localized in the inferior lobes, they are marked by a typical clinico-laboratory appearance.

It was found that a relationship exists between x-ray changes in the lungs, levels of IgG, IgM, IgA, antibodies counts in tuberculin enzyme immunoassay, circulating immune complexes (CIC), heterophilic antibodies and metatuberculous pneumosclerosis in patients with a history of active tuberculosis. A direct relationship was established between the advance of metatuberculous pneumosclerosis and CIC levels. The latter clearly reflect basic immunological mechanisms of fibrogenesis.

The tests on guinea pigs proved that amniocene (a tissue preparation) has a double action (antiinflammatory and potentiating repair processes in the foci of tuberculous lesions). This action manifests itself depending on the type of tuberculous inflammation and produces an effect upon the involution of experimental tuberculosis.
