RESUMO

Following the publication of the above article, a concerned reader drew to the authors' attention that, among Figs. 1D, 2A and 4B, certain of the control western blots had been reused in different blots. The authors have retrieved and reexamined their original data, and were able to identify the correct control western blots where the data had been inadvertently duplicated in the affected original figures. The revised versions of Figs. 2 and 4, now featuring the correct control western blots, are shown in the subsequent two pages. The authors regret that the data in question featured in the original article had been reused, and thank the Editor of International Journal of Oncology for granting them the opportunity to publish this corrigendum. All the authors agree with the publication of this corrigendum; furthermore, they apologize to the readership of the journal for any inconvenience caused. RESUMO

Changxing Island, located in the northwest of Dalian City in Liaoning, China, is a beautiful island on the West side of the Liaodong Peninsula. Since 1980, along with the development of the economic benefits and the environmental evolution of the Changxing Island marine belt, its ecological environment has changed to a certain extent. In this paper, the interannual evolution and organic pollution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in borehole core samples were studied, based on the survey data of coastal substrates and sedimentation chemistry of two columnar stations (C4 and C6) in Changxing Island, China, in 2017. It was found that the distribution of PAHs in the region was controlled by sedimentary types and hydrodynamic factors. The PAH content in the vertical direction of the borehole part was at the level of the environmental background value before 1980. However, from 1981 to the present, the overall increasing trend of PAHs content was evident, and there were obvious fluctuations with the changes of the surrounding environment. In the C4 column, the total concentration of 16 PAHs was 32.8-349.0 ng/g (dry weight), and it was 22.2-81.3 ng/g (dry weight) in the C6 column. Among them, the concentration range of PAHs species composition was from high to low, followed by tricyclic, quadricyclic, bicyclic, pentacyclic, hexacyclic, and the monomer with the highest content in the sea area was tricyclic phenanthrene. The supports were thereby provided for environmental pollution research, comprehensive evaluation, environmental carrying capacity forecasting, and early warning in this region, and it was served as the basis for development and antipollution feasibility demonstration.

RESUMO

This study used UPLC-TQ-MS technology to replicate a Henoch-Schonlein purpura(HSP) model in rats by administering warm drugs by gavage and injecting ovalbumin with Freund's complete adjuvant emulsion. The distribution differences and characteristics of eight major components(ferulic acid, caffeic acid, neochlorogenic acid, cryptochlorogenic acid, benzoyl oxypaeoniflorin, tracheloside, loganin, and paeoniflorin) in rat liver, lung, heart, spleen, and kidney tissues were determined after oral administration of the Liangxue Tuizi Mixture at a dose of 42 g·kg~(-1) in both normal physiological and HSP states at 0.5, 1, 2, 6, and 12 hours. The results showed that the distribution patterns of the eight components of Liangxue Tuizi Mixture in the tissues of normal and HSP model rats were different. The main component, paeoniflorin, in Moutan Cortex and Paeoniae Radix Alba had higher content in all tissues. The eight components were predominantly distributed in the liver, lung, and kidney tissues, followed by spleen and heart tissues.

RESUMO

Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time of fight/mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS) and UNIFI were employed to rapidly determine the content of the components in Liangxue Tuizi Mixture. The targets of the active components and Henoch-Schönlein purpura(HSP) were obtained from SwissTargetPrediction, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man(OMIM), and GeneCards. A "component-target-disease" network and a protein-protein interaction(PPI) network were constructed. Gene Ontology(GO) functional annotation and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis were performed for the targets by Omishare. The interactions between the potential active components and the core targets were verified by molecular docking. Furthermore, rats were randomly assigned into a normal group, a model group, and low-, medium-, and high-dose Liangxue Tuizi Mixture groups. Non-targeted metabolomics was employed to screen the differential metabolites in the serum, analyze possible metabolic pathways, and construct the "component-target-differential metabolite" network. A total of 45 components of Liangxue Tuizi Mixture were identified, and 145 potential targets for the treatment of HSP were predicted. The main signaling pathways enriched included resistance to epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B(PI3K-AKT), and T cell receptor. The results of molecular docking showed that the active components in Liangxue Tuizi Mixture had strong binding ability with the key target proteins. A total of 13 differential metabolites in the serum were screened out, which shared 27 common targets with active components. The progression of HSP was related to metabolic abnormalities of glycerophospholipid and sphingolipid. The results indicate that the components in Liangxue Tuizi Mixture mainly treats HSP by regulating inflammation and immunity, providing a scientific basis for rational drug use in clinical practice.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of Danzhi Xiaoyaosan-containing serum on MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells, and to find out whether the action mechanism is related to its intervention in energy metabolism. MethodThirty six-week-old male SD rats were randomly divided into the blank group, Danzhi Xiaoyaosan (8.99 g·kg-1) group, and Xihuangwan (0.55 g·kg-1) group. The serum was isolated after drug intervention for seven days. The cell viability was detected by methyl thiazolyl-tetrazolium (MTT) assay, the cell cycle by flow cytometry, and the apoptosis by Annenxin V/propidium iodide (PI) double staining. Following the determination of intracellular glucose content using the glucose testing kit, the expression of glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) was measured by immunofluorescence staining. Seahorse XFe cell energy metabolism analyzer was used to detect the extracellular acidification rate (ECAR) and oxygen consumption rate (OCR). The expression levels of hexokinase 2 (HK2), pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2), and lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) were assayed by Western blot. ResultCompared with the blank group, Danzhi Xiaoyaosan-containing serum inhibited the proliferation of MDA-MB-231 cells, with the best effect observed after intervention with 15% Danzhi Xiaoyaosan-containing serum for 48 h (P<0.01), blocked the MDA-MB-231 cells in G0/G1 phase(P<0.01), and down-regulated the GLUT1 expression, basal glycolysis, glycolysis capacity, glycolytic reserve, basal respiration, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, spare respiratory capacity(P<0.01), as well as the protein expression of HK2, PKM2, and LDHA in MDA-MB-231 cells(P<0.05,P<0.01). ConclusionDanzhi Xiaoyaosan-containing serum inhibits MDA-MB-231 cell proliferation, promotes apoptosis, and induces cell cycle arrest, which may be related to its reversal of energy metabolic reprogramming in MDA-MB-231 cells.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the relationship between the soil components along the areas of the east route of the Southto-North Water Diversion Project and the survival situation of Oncomelania hupensis snails. METHODS: Four study sites were selected along the project, and soil samples were collected to analyze the components. The amounts of components among the different study sites were compared statistically. RESULTS: Except zinc, sodium, and phosphorus, the contents of the soil components where the snails survived were different from those where snails were dead (t = -19.150 to 12.810, all P < 0.01). However, the logistic regression analysis did not obtain a model with statistical significance. CONCLUSIONS: O. hupensis snails live in the soil with adequate organic matter and neutral pH value. Along with the global warming and the operation of the South-toNorth Water Diversion Project, O. hupensis snails may survive in the northern area, and therefore, the surveillance work should be strengthened.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the possible mechanism of ultrasound therapy in the rat model of sepsis.Methods:Seventy-eight male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into Sham group ( n = 12), septic model group ( n = 22), ultrasound treatment group ( n = 22), methyllycaconitine citrate (MLA) combined with ultrasound treatment group ( n = 22). In the Sham group, only the abdomen was opened, the cecum was found to be free, without cecal ligation and puncture (CLP). In the septic model group, CLP was used to replicate the septic rat model. After operation, each group of rats were subcutaneously injected with preheated 37 ℃ normal saline. The rats in the ultrasound treatment group were treated with ultrasound [Philips IU22 L9-3 ultrasound instrument and 9 MHz probe were used to break the sequence in the spleen area once every 6 seconds, with 1 second for each time, the mechanical index (MI) was 0.72, and the treatment time was 10 minutes]. In the MLA combined with ultrasound treatment group, α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) specific blocker MLA 4 mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally 30 minutes before operation, and ultrasound treatment was performed 2 hours after operation. The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin (IL-1β, IL-6) in serum of each group were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) at 24 hours after operation. The 10-day survival rate of each group was recorded, and the symptoms of each group were evaluated by clinical disease score (CDS). The histopathological changes of lung and colon were observed under light microscope. Results:Compared with the Sham group, the 10-day survival rate of rats in the septic model group was decreased significantly [40% (4/10) vs. 100% (6/6)], the CDS was (10.73±2.19 vs. 6.17±0.58) and the levels of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β were increased significantly at 24 hours after operation [TNF-α (ng/L): 42.00±8.92 vs. 13.16±3.19, IL-6 (ng/L): 129.37±25.04 vs. 63.99±12.92, IL-1β(ng/L): 254.98±67.27 vs. 76.83±25.39, all P < 0.01]. Compared with the septic model group, the survival rate in the ultrasound treatment group was improved [70% (7/10) vs. 40% (4/10)], but there was no significant difference ( P > 0.05). The CDS (7.64±2.68 vs. 10.73±2.19) and the expressions of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β were significantly reduced at 24 hours after operation [TNF-α(ng/L): 16.93±6.02 vs. 42.00±8.92, IL-6 (ng/L): 73.65±24.38 vs. 129.37±25.04, IL-1β(ng/L): 111.86±14.08 vs. 254.98±67.27, all P < 0.01]. Compared with the ultrasound treatment group, the survival rate in the MLA combined with ultrasound treatment group was reduced [60% (6/10) vs. 70% (7/10)], but the difference was not statistically significant ( P > 0.05). CDS was significantly increased (9.55±2.72 vs. 7.64±2.68), and the levels of TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β were significantly increased at 24 hours after operation [TNF-α(ng/L): 34.61±7.89 vs. 16.93±6.02, IL-6 (ng/L): 112.92±10.42 vs. 73.65±24.38, IL-1β(ng/L): 212.57±32.16 vs. 111.86±14.08, all P < 0.01]. Microscopically, in the septic model group, the alveolar septum was thickened, a large number of inflammatory cells infiltrated, normal pulmonary reticular structure disappeared, and pulmonary interstitium showed obvious hemorrhage and edema, meanwhile, the structure of colonic villi was obviously abnormal, with cells were edema and inflammatory cell infiltration, and the arrangement was disordered, so that the subepithelial space and the top of it fell off. After ultrasound treatment, the thickness of the alveolar interval in rats was similar to that in Sham group, without obvious inflammatory cell infiltration, and the pulmonary reticular structure was relatively intact. At the same time, the morphology of colonic villi was basically normal and orderly, the edema of cell was not obvious, and subcutaneous space and tip fall off were not obvious. After being antagonized by MLA, the rat lung tissue showed thickened alveolar septum, inflammatory cell infiltration, incomplete pulmonary network structure, hemorrhage and edema in the interstitium. The villi structure of the colon was faintly visible, with obvious cell edema and inflammatory cell infiltration, and the arrangement was abnormal. Conclusion:Ultrasound treatment improves the prognosis of septic rats, MLA can reverse the anti-inflammatory effect of ultrasound therapy by antagonizing α7nAChR, suggesting that the protective mechanism of ultrasound in sepsis may be related to activating the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway mediated by α7nAChR.

RESUMO

Objective:To explore the protective effect of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) on the prognosis of rats suffering from cardiac arrest/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CA/CPR) under different treatment timings. Methods:The method of percutaneous epicardial electrical stimulation was used to establish CA model of rat. Fifty-three male SD rats were randomly (random number) divided into the sham group ( n=5), CPR group ( n=12), PRE group ( n=12), POST5 group ( n=12) and POST30 group ( n=12). The sham group did not experience CA/CPR. VNS treatment was started at 30 min before CA (PRE group, n=12), 5 min after recovery of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) (POST5 group, n=12), and 30 min after ROSC (POST30 group, n=12) in different VNS-treated group, respectively. The electrical stimulation was applied to the vagus nerve for 30 min with a unified parameter. The neurological deficit scores at 24, 48, and 72 h after ROSC were recorded, and the survival rate in each group was observed. TUNEL staining was used to detect the apoptosis of cortical area and the expression of α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) in brain tissue was measured by immunofluorescence at 72 h after ROSC. Variables were compared with one-way analysis of variance, and survival for Kaplan-Meier curves were tested with the log-rank test. A P value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:Compared with the CPR group (survival rate 33.33%), both pre-treatment (survival rate 75%) and post-treatment of VNS (POST5 group survival rate 75% and POST30 group survival rate 83.33%) significantly improved the 72 h survival rate after CPR ( P<0.05), mitigated neurological deficits after ROSC, reduced the positive rate of apoptosis neurons, and up-regulated the expression of α7nAChR in cerebral cortex. There was no significant difference among the VNS-treated groups (all P>0.05). Conclusions:Both pre-treatment and post-treatment of VNS can play a protective role in rats after CA/CPR, which may be related to the activation of α7nAChR-mediated anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptosis effects.

RESUMO

Objective:To observe the effect of acupuncture on constipation in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Methods:From January, 2019 to November, 2020, 50 ASD children with constipation from Rehabilitation Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine were admitted and randomly divided into acupuncture-rehabilitation group (n = 25) and medicine-rehabilitation group (n = 25). For constipation, the acupuncture-rehabilitation group used scalp acupuncture, body acupuncture combined with rehabilitation; the medicine-rehabilitation group took probiotics orally combined with rehabilitation. Both groups received conventional rehabilitation for constipation and the core symptoms. Constipation was treated for eight weeks, and ASD symptoms was treated for twelve weeks. After eight weeks and twelve weeks, the efficacy of constipation and the scores of main symptoms of constipation were compared, and they were also evaluated with Autism Child Behavior Scale (ABC) and Autism Treatment Evaluation Scale (ATEC). Results:Before treatment, there was no significant difference in the main symptoms of constipation, nor the scores of ABC and ATEC between two groups (P > 0.05). Eight weeks after treatment, the main symptoms of constipation significantly improved (t > 5.473, P < 0.001); twelve weeks after treatment, the efficacy of constipation and the main symptoms of constipation were better in the acupuncture-rehabilitation group than in the medicine-rehabilitation group (Z = 2.848, t = -2.139, P < 0.05). Eight weeks after treatment, the scores of ABC and ATEC significantly decreased (t > 7.139, P < 0.001), and there was no significant difference between two groups (P > 0.05); the score of behavior of ATEC significantly decreased in the acupuncture-rehabilitation group (t = 3.849, P < 0.01), and was lower than that of the medicine-rehabilitation group (t = -2.643, P < 0.05), and no significant difference in other items was found between two groups (P > 0.05); twelve weeks after treatment, the scores of ABC and ATEC were lower in the acupuncture-rehabilitation group than in the medicine-rehabilitation group (|t| > 2.156, P < 0.05). Conclusion:Acupuncture-rehabilitation can improve the longer-lasting effect of constipation, and also improve the core symptoms of ASD, which is superior to medicine-rehabilitation.

RESUMO

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided percutaneous translumial septal myocardial ablation in dogs using laser and radiofrequency. Methods:Twelve healthy adult Beagle dogs (males or females) were randomly divided into two groups, namely, group laser and group radiofrequency (6 dogs each group). Under ultrasound guidance, laser fiber or radiofrequency ablation needle was respectively inserted into the basal and middle segments of the interventricular septa via the percutaneous transapical approach to perform ablation. The Beagle dogs received radiologic examination, laboratory tests and pathological detection before ablation, immediately after ablation, at 1 week after ablation, and at 1 month after ablation, respectively. The efficacy and safety of the two ablation procedures were compared. Results:All dogs survived after ablation. The peak gradient of LVOT decreased immediately after ablation using either laser or radiofrequency ( P<0.05), but it increased at 1 week after ablation than before ( P<0.05). At 1 month after ablation, no significant differences were found in the peak gradient of LVOT compared with that before surgery ( P<0.05). The interventricular septum thickness was increased immediately after ablation using either laser or radiofrequency than before ( P<0.05), but it decreased at 1 week and at 1 month after surgery than before ( P<0.05). The ablation zone using radiofrequency was slightly larger than that of using laser[(372.50±69.06)mm 3 vs (116.65±20.15)mm 3, P<0.001], and the surgical time of the former was significantly shorter than that of using laser [(56.00±3.22)s vs (260.00±65.39)s, P<0.05)]. Conclusions:Ultrasound-guided percutaneous translumial septal myocardial ablation is feasible, safe and effective using either laser or radiofrequency. Comparatively speaking, radiofrequency ablation is more simple and convenient.

RESUMO

Colon cancer is one of the most common malignancies, causes considerable morbidity and mortality. The current treatment for colon cancer is more modest than had been hoped. There is an urgent clinical need to explore new agents or adjuvants for colon cancer treatment. Natural products and their derivates act as one of the major source for anticancer agent. In the present study, we investigated the anti-proliferation and chemoprevention effects of tetrandrine (Tet) on colon cancer cells to uncover the possible molecular basis of this effect. We found that Tet can inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis in LoVo cells. With dimethylhydrazine (DMH) and dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) induced colon cancer model, we found that Tet can prevent or inhibit DMH plus DSS induced aberrant crypt foci (ACF) and colon cancer formation, as well as suppress tumor growth in the xenograft colon cancer model. Tet can downregulate the expression of IGFBP-5 in LoVo cells. Exogenous expression of IGFBP-5 can attenuate the anti-cancer activity of Tet, while IGFBP-5 knockdown potentiates this effect of Tet on LoVo cells. Tet can inhibit Wnt/ß-catenin signaling transduction, which can be partly reversed by exogenous expression of IGFBP-5, but is enhanced by IGFBP-5 knockdown. Our results demonstrated that the anticancer activity of Tet in colon cancer cells may be mediated partly by downregulating the expression of IGFBP-5, thus inactivating Wnt/ß-catenin signaling transduction.

RESUMO

Plant growth regulators (PGRs) have similar physiological and biological effects to those of plant hormones, and therefore are used widely in agroforestry. The residues of PGRs in agricultural products are seriously detrimental to human health because they have been found with hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, genotoxicity, neurotoxicity, even carcinogenicity and teratogenicity. Furthermore, PGRs are suspected to disrupt the function of human and animal reproductive systems. This paper presents an overview on various toxicities of PGRs on human and animal reproductive health and their underlying mechanisms, aiming to arouse people's attention to PGR residues in food and environment and reduce PGR-induced damage to the male reproductive system and to human health as well.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Skeletal muscle satellite cells have been found to possess the potential of stem cells that have the ability to self-renew with the roles of repair and regeneration. Therefore, it can be used to treat myofibrosis. OBJECTIVE: To explore the function, molecular regulation and related mechanisms of skeletal muscle satellite cells, and to promote the repair and regeneration of skeletal muscle fibers, thereby providing new ideas and intervention strategies for the rehabilitation and treatment of skeletal muscle injury. METHODS: A computer-based online search was conducted in PubMed, Mendeley, Google Scholar, and CNKI databases from 1995 to November 2016 for the relevant literature using the keywords of "skeletal muscle, satellite cells, stem cell, muscle repair". Data screening, processing, and summarization were performed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: According to the inclusion criteria, 51 eligible articles were enrolled. Analysis results show that skeletal muscle satellite cells are closely related to muscle fiber lesions. Based on the mechanism of skeletal muscle lesions, the regeneration and repair mechanisms of skeletal muscle satellite cells are explored. Skeletal muscle tissue is a functional and sound system that can regenerate and repair through skeletal muscle satellite cells. The function of skeletal muscle satellite cells is controlled by intracellular and extracellular information networks, which can enhance endogenous satellite cell viability. When the skeletal muscle is injured or malnourished, the viability of skeletal muscle satellite cells is inhibited, further inducing skeletal muscle fiber degeneration. Therefore, skeletal muscle fiber lesions can be treated through skeletal muscle satellite cell transplantation and stimulating the viability of endogenous skeletal muscle satellite cells, which provides intervention strategies for skeletal muscle repair and regeneration.

RESUMO

AIM:To explore the learning curve of the Indian standardized manual small-incision cataract surgery(SICS).METHODS:Totally 253 cases(295 eyes)of senile cataract were divided into three groups (Group A: training group, Group B and C: strengthened groups) according to the operation time from December 2012 to December 2014.All cases were performed with manual SICS by the same trainee ophthalmologist. To research the learning curve of manual SICS and evaluate surgical effects, the best corrected visual acuity and complications were observed. RESULTS: At 1wk postoperatively, the rate of relief from blindness in all three groups after operation were 100%, the rate of relief from visual handicap in group A, B, C were 93.7%,93.0% and 91.0% respectively.Complication rates were 2.1%, 7.0% and 3.0% respectively in three groups.Posterior capsular rupture accounted for 50% of all complications. No severe postoperative complications were found, such as nucleus or IOL falling into vitreous cavity, endophthalmitis, corneal endothelial function dysfunction and expulsive choroidal hemorrhage.CONCLUSION: Manual SICS is safe and effective.Because of helping to shorten the learning curve and decrease the incidence of complications, the standardized manual SICS training is worth using for reference.
