RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Electronic medical records (EMRs) contain a wealth of information related to breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Extracting relevant features from these medical records and constructing a knowledge graph can significantly contribute to an efficient data analysis and decision support system for breast cancer diagnosis. METHODS: An approach was proposed to develop a workflow for effectively extracting breast cancer-related features from Chinese breast cancer mammography reports and constructing a knowledge graph for breast cancer diagnosis. Firstly, the concept layer of the knowledge graph for breast cancer diagnosis was constructed based on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment guidelines, along with insights from clinical experts. .Next, a BiLSTM-Highway-CRF model was designed to extract the mammography features, which formed the data layer of the knowledge graph. Finally, the knowledge graph was constructed by combining the concept layer and the data layer in a Neo4j graph data platform, and then applied in visualization analysis, semantic query and computer assisted diagnosis. RESULTS: Mammographic features were extracted from a total of 1171 mammography examination reports. The overall extraction performance of the model achieved an accuracy rate of 97.16%, a recall rate of 98.06%, and a F1 score of 97.61%. Additionally, 47,660 relationships between entities were identified based on the four different types of relationships defined in the concept layer. The knowledge graph for breast cancer diagnosis was constructed after inputting mammographic features and relationships into the Neo4j graph data platform. The model was assessed from the concept layer, data layer, and application layer perspectives, and showed promising results. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed workflow is applicable for constructing knowledge graphs for breast cancer diagnosis based on Chinese EMRs. This study serves as a reference for the rapid design, construction, and application of knowledge graphs for diagnosis and treatment of other diseases. Furthermore, it offers a potential solution to address the issues of limited data sharing and format inconsistencies present in Chinese EMR data.

RESUMO

Medical imaging is an important tool for clinical diagnosis. Nevertheless, it is very time-consuming and error-prone for physicians to prepare imaging diagnosis reports. Therefore, it is necessary to develop some methods to generate medical imaging reports automatically. Currently, the task of medical imaging report generation is challenging in at least two aspects: (1) medical images are very similar to each other. The differences between normal and abnormal images and between different abnormal images are usually trivial; (2) unrelated or incorrect keywords describing abnormal findings in the generated reports lead to mis-communications. In this paper, we propose a medical image report generation framework composed of four modules, including a Transformer encoder, a MIX-MLP multi-label classification network, a co-attention mechanism (CAM) based semantic and visual feature fusion, and a hierarchical LSTM decoder. The Transformer encoder can be used to learn long-range dependencies between images and labels, effectively extract visual and semantic features of images, and establish long-term dependent relationships between visual and semantic information to accurately extract abnormal features from images. The MIX-MLP multi-label classification network, the co-attention mechanism and the hierarchical LSTM network can better identify abnormalities, achieving visual and text alignment fusion and multi-label diagnostic classification to better facilitate report generation. The results of the experiments performed on two widely used radiology report datasets, IU X-RAY and MIMIC-CXR, show that our proposed framework outperforms current report generation models in terms of both natural linguistic generation metrics and clinical efficacy assessment metrics. RESUMO

Improving measurement accuracy is the core issue with surface acoustic wave (SAW) micro-force sensors. An electrode transducer can stimulate not only the SAW but also the bulk acoustic wave (BAW). A portion of the BAW can be picked up by the receiving transducer, leading to an unwanted or spurious signal. This can harm the device's frequency response characteristics, thereby potentially reducing the precision of the micro-force sensor's measurements. This paper examines the influence of anisotropy on wave propagation, and it also performs a phase-matching analysis between interdigital transducers (IDTs) and bulk waves. Two solutions are shown to reduce the influence of BAW for SAW micro sensors, which are arranged with acoustic absorbers at the ends of the substrate and in grooving in the piezoelectric substrate. Three different types of sensors were manufactured, and the test results showed that the sidelobes of the SAW micro-force sensor could be effectively inhibited (3.32 dB), thereby enhancing the sensitivity and performance of sensor detection. The SAW micro-force sensor manufactured using the new process was tested and the following results were obtained: the center frequency was 59.83 MHz, the fractional bandwidth was 1.33%, the range was 0-1000 mN, the linearity was 1.02%, the hysteresis was 0.59%, the repeatability was 1.11%, and the accuracy was 1.34%.

RESUMO

In this paper, a SAW winding tension sensor is designed and data fusion technology is used to improve its measurement accuracy. To design a high-measurement precision SAW winding tension sensor, the unbalanced split-electrode interdigital transducers (IDTs) were used to design the input IDTs and output IDTs, and the electrode-overlap envelope was adopted to design the input IDT. To improve the measurement accuracy of the sensor, the particle swarm optimization-least squares support vector machine (PSO-LSSVM) algorithm was used to compensate for the temperature error. After temperature compensation, the sensitivity temperature coefficient αs of the SAW winding tension sensor was decreased by an order of magnitude, thus significantly improving its measurement accuracy. Finally, the error with actually applied tension was calculated, the same in the LSSVM and PSO-LSSVM. By multiple comparisons of the same sample data set overall, as well as the local accuracy of the forecasted results, which is 5.95%, it is easy to confirm that the output error predicted by the PSO-LSSVM model is 0.50%, much smaller relative to the LSSVM's 1.42%. As a result, a new way for performing data analysis of the SAW winding tension sensor is provided.

RESUMO

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is becoming an increasingly important imaging technology in the Biomedical field. However, the application of OCT is limited by the ubiquitous noise. In this study, the noise of OCT heart tube image is first verified as being multiplicative based on the local statistics (i.e. the linear relationship between the mean and the standard deviation of certain flat area). The variance of the noise is evaluated in log-domain. Based on these, a joint probability density function is constructed to take the inter-direction dependency in the contourlet domain from the logarithmic transformed image into account. Then, a bivariate shrinkage function is derived to denoise the image by the maximum a posteriori estimation. Systemic comparative experiments are made to synthesis images, OCT heart tube images and other OCT tissue images by subjective assessment and objective metrics. The experiment results are analysed based on the denoising results and the predominance degree of the proposed algorithm with respect to the wavelet-based algorithm. The results show that the proposed algorithm improves the signal-to-noise ratio, whereas preserving the edges and has more advantages on the images containing multi-direction information like OCT heart tube image.

RESUMO

A contourlet domain image denoising framework based on a novel Improved Rotating Kernel Transformation is proposed, where the difference of subbands in contourlet domain is taken into account. In detail: (1). A novel Improved Rotating Kernel Transformation (IRKT) is proposed to calculate the direction statistic of the image; The validity of the IRKT is verified by the corresponding extracted edge information comparing with the state-of-the-art edge detection algorithm. (2). The direction statistic represents the difference between subbands and is introduced to the threshold function based contourlet domain denoising approaches in the form of weights to get the novel framework. The proposed framework is utilized to improve the contourlet soft-thresholding (CTSoft) and contourlet bivariate-thresholding (CTB) algorithms. The denoising results on the conventional testing images and the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) medical images show that the proposed methods improve the existing contourlet based thresholding denoising algorithm, especially for the medical images.

RESUMO

Optical Coherence Tomography(OCT) gradually becomes a very important imaging technology in the Biomedical field for its noninvasive, nondestructive and real-time properties. However, the interpretation and application of the OCT images are limited by the ubiquitous noise. In this paper, a denoising algorithm based on contourlet transform for the OCT heart tube image is proposed. A bivariate function is constructed to model the joint probability density function (pdf) of the coefficient and its cousin in contourlet domain. A bivariate shrinkage function is deduced to denoise the image by the maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation. Three metrics, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) and equivalent number of look (ENL), are used to evaluate the denoised image using the proposed algorithm. The results show that the signal-to-noise ratio is improved while the edges of object are preserved by the proposed algorithm. Systemic comparisons with other conventional algorithms, such as mean filter, median filter, RKT filter, Lee filter, as well as bivariate shrinkage function for wavelet-based algorithm are conducted. The advantage of the proposed algorithm over these methods is illustrated.
