RESUMO

Metasurfaces, which possess unprecedented capabilities in manipulating electromagnetic wavefronts, are promising for accurate complex amplitude modulation with a compact device. However, current strategy of complex amplitude modulation based on metasurfaces focuses on anisotropic unit design which is intrinsically constrained of polarization states. In this study, we propose a design methodology of polarization-independent metasurface which comprises an array of nanocylinders with various radii and heights. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified using an optical vortex generator and a complex-amplitude hologram device. The straightforward, cost-effective, and polarization-independent design can provide robust and reliable solutions for wavefronts modulation in various optical applications.

RESUMO

The precise construction of hierarchically long-range ordered structures using molecules as fundamental building blocks can fully harness their anisotropy and potential. However, the 3D, high-precision, and single-step directional assembly of molecules is a long-pending challenge. Here, a 3D directional molecular assembly strategy via femtosecond laser direct writing (FsLDW) is proposed and the feasibility of this approach using liquid crystal (LC) molecules as an illustrative example is demonstrated. The physical mechanism for femtosecond (fs) laser-induced assembly of LC molecules is investigated, and precise 3D arbitrary assembly of LC molecules is achieved by defining the discretized laser scanning pathway. Additionally, an LC-based Fresnel zone plate array with polarization selection and colorization imaging functions is fabricated to further illustrate the potential of this method. This study not only introduces a 3D high-resolution alignment method for LC-based functional devices but also establishes a universal protocol for the precise 3D directional assembly of anisotropic molecules.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the correlation between Chinese medicine syndrome types of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and ovulation induction effect, and its clinical significance. METHODS: Eighty patients with clinically confirmed PCOS were syndrome differentiated as four types, i.e., Shen-yin deficiency syndrome (21 cases), Shen-yang deficiency syndrome (18 cases), phlegm-dampness accumulation syndrome (19 cases), and Gan-stagnancy transformed heat syndrome (22 cases). They all took 100 mg clomiphene as the ovulation induction for 5 successive days. Results of ovulation in all patients were analyzed and compared. RESULTS: Ovulation induction and the conception rate were sequenced from high to low as follows: Shen-yang deficiency syndrome (66.7%, 22.2%), Gan-stagnancy transformed heat syndrome (59.1%, 18.2%), Shen-yin deficiency syndrome (28.6%, 9.5%), and phlegm-dampness accumulation syndrome (26.3%, 5.3%). Significant difference was shown in ovulation induction results when compared Shen-yang deficiency syndrome with Shen-yin deficiency syndrome and phlegm-dampness accumulation syndrome (P<0.05) as well as when compared Ganstagnancy transformed heat syndrome with Shen-yin deficiency syndrome and phlegm-dampness accumulation syndrome (P<0.05). Significant difference was shown in the conception rate between Shen-yang deficiency syndrome and phlegm-dampness accumulation syndrome (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The effects of ovulation induction in patients of phlegm-dampness accumulation syndrome and of Shen-yin deficiency syndrome were poorer than those in patients of Shen-yang deficiency syndrome and Gan-stagnancy transformed heat syndrome, which indicated the reproduction endocrine abnormality or the metabolism abnormality degree of the former two syndrome types were more server than the latter two syndrome types.

RESUMO

In the current work, a novel hybrid laminate with negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) is developed by considering auxetic laminate which is composed of carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (CNTRC) and fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) materials. The maximum magnitude of out-of-plane NPR is identified in the case of (20 F/20 C/-20 C/20 C) S laminate as well. Meanwhile, a method for the geometric non-linear analysis of hybrid laminated beam with NPR including the non-linear bending, free, and forced vibrations is proposed. The beam deformation is modeled by combining higher-order shear-deformation theory (HSDT) and large deflection theory. Based on a two-step perturbation approach, the asymptotic solutions of the governing equations are obtained to capture the linear and non-linear frequencies and load-deflection curves. Moreover, a two-step perturbation methodology in conjunction with fourth-order Runge-Kutta method is employed to solve the forced-vibration problem. Several key factors, such as CNT distribution, variations in the elastic foundation, and thermal stress, are considered in the exhaustive analysis. Theoretical results for some particular cases are given to examine the geometric non-linearity behavior of hybrid beam with NPR as well as positive Poisson's ratio (PPR).
