RESUMO

Recently, there has been an exponential growth in the number of publications focusing on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), primarily driven by advancements in nanotechnology and the increasing demand for chemical and biological detection. While many of these publications have focused on the development of new substrates and detection-based applications, there is a noticeable lack of attention given to various practical issues related to SERS measurements and detection. This review aims to fill this gap by utilizing silver nanorod (AgNR) SERS substrates fabricated through the oblique angle deposition method as an illustrative example. The review highlights and addresses a range of practical issues associated with SERS measurements and detection. These include the optimization of SERS substrates in terms of morphology and structural design, considerations for measurement configurations such as polarization and the incident angle of the excitation laser, and exploration of enhancement mechanisms encompassing both intrinsic properties induced by the structure and materials, as well as extrinsic factors arising from wetting/dewetting phenomena and analyte size. The manufacturing and storage aspects of SERS substrates, including scalable fabrication techniques, contamination control, cleaning procedures, and appropriate storage methods, are also discussed. Furthermore, the review delves into device design considerations, such as well arrays, flow cells, and fiber probes, and explores various sample preparation methods such as drop-cast and immersion. Measurement issues, including the effect of excitation laser wavelength and power, as well as the influence of buffer, are thoroughly examined. Additionally, the review discusses spectral analysis techniques, encompassing baseline removal, chemometric analysis, and machine learning approaches. The wide range of AgNR-based applications of SERS, across various fields, is also explored. Throughout the comprehensive review, key lessons learned from collective findings are outlined and analyzed, particularly in the context of detailed SERS measurements and standardization. The review also provides insights into future challenges and perspectives in the field of SERS. It is our hope that this comprehensive review will serve as a valuable reference for researchers seeking to embark on in-depth studies and applications involving their own SERS substrates.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The uses of egg white powder (EWP) are restricted because of its odor. It is necessary to find a method to improve its flavor. In this paper, three different antioxidants - green tea extract (GTE), sodium ascorbate (SA), and glutathione (GSH) - were selected to modify the flavor. The physicochemical and structural properties of EWP were investigated to study the mechanism of the formation and release of volatile compounds. RESULTS: Antioxidants can modify the overall flavor of EWP significantly, inhibiting the generation or release of nonanal, 3-methylbutanal, heptanal, decanal, geranyl acetone, and 2-pemtylfuran. A SA-EWP combination showed the lowest concentration of 'off' flavor compounds; GTE-EWP and GSH-EWP could reduce several 'off' flavor compounds but increased the formation of geranyl acetone and furans. The changes in the carbonyl content and the amino acid composition confirmed the inhibition of antioxidants with the oxidative degradation of proteins or characteristic amino acids. The results of fluorescence spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy provided structural information regarding EWP, which showed the release of volatile compounds decreased due to structural changes. For example, the surface hydrophobicity increased and the protein aggregation state changed. CONCLUSIONS: Antioxidants reduce the 'off' flavor of EWP in two ways: they inhibit protein oxidation and Maillard reactions (they inhibit formation of 3-methylbutanal and 2-pemtylfuran) and they enhance the binding ability of heat-denatured proteins (reducing the release of nonanal, decanal, and similar compounds). © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Salted hen egg yolks are less oily and less flavorful than salted duck egg yolks. However, hen eggs have a more adequate market supply and have a broader application prospect than duck eggs. In the present study, egg yolks, plasma, and granules were dehydrated by adding 1% NaCl to simulate traditional curing process of salted egg yolk. The changes in the pickling process of hen egg yolks (HEY) and duck egg yolks (DEY) plasma and granules were compared to reveal the gelation mechanism and the underlying causes of quality differences in salted HEY and DEY. Salted HEY can be compared with the changes in DEY during the pickling process to provide a theoretical basis for the quality improvement of salted HEY to salted DEY. RESULTS: The results showed that both plasma and granules were involved in gel formation, but exhibited different aggregation behaviors. Based on the intermolecular forces, the HEY proteins achieved aggregation mainly through hydrophobic interactions and DEY proteins mainly through covalent binding. According to spin-spin relaxation time, HEY gels immobilized a large amount of lipid and interacted strongly with lipids. DEY gels showed much free lipid and had weak interaction with lipid. The microstructure showed that HEY proteins were easily unfolded to form a homogeneous three-dimensional gel network structure after salting, whereas heterogeneous aggregates were formed to hinder the gel development in DEY. Changes in protein secondary structure content showed that pickling can promote the transformation of the α-helices to ß-sheets structure in HEY gels, whereas more α-helices structure was formed in DEY gels. CONCLUSION: The present study has demonstrated that different gelation behaviors of hen and duck egg yolk proteins (especially in plasma) through salting treatment led to the difference in the quality of salted HEY and DEY. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Fasting is known to influence the immune functions of leukocytes primarily by regulating their mobilization and redistribution between the bone marrow and the peripheral tissues or circulation, in particular via relocalization of leukocytes back in the bone marrow. However, how the immune system responds to the increased risk of invasion by infectious pathogens with fewer leukocytes in the peripheral blood during fasting intervention remains an open question. RESULTS: We used proteomic, biochemical and flow cytometric tools to evaluate the impact of short-term intensive fasting (STIF), known as beego, on red blood cells by profiling the cells from the STIF subjects before and after 6 days of fasting and 6 days of gradual refeeding. We found that STIF, by triggering the activation of the complement system via the complement receptor on the membrane of red blood cells, boosts fairly sustainable function of red blood cells in immune responses in close relation to various pathogens, including viruses, bacteria and parasites, particularly with the pronounced capacity to defend against SARS-CoV-2, without compromising their oxygen delivery capacity and viability. CONCLUSION: STIF fosters the immune function of red blood cells and therefore, it may be considered as a nonmedical intervention option for the stronger capacity of red blood cells to combat infectious diseases.

RESUMO

Local government intervention in land resource allocation can lead to the misallocation of land resources and serious pollutant emissions. As an important market-oriented economic reform in China, the marketization of urban land transfer (MULT) might have the potential to contribute to improving resource allocation efficiency by curbing local government intervention. Therefore, this study aims to provide empirical evidence on the impact of MULT on energy efficiency. We improve the MULT evaluation method to test the mechanism through which MULT affects energy efficiency. The results show that, first, the proportion of land sold by allocation and listing methods, which is characterized by a low degree of marketization, has rapidly increased in recent years, lowering the overall level of MULT. Second, MULT has a direct and significant positive impact on improving energy efficiency. Third, the mechanism analysis indicates that MULT helps enhance energy efficiency by advancing industrial structure optimization and technological progress. Moreover, the heterogeneity analysis demonstrates that the impact of MULT on improving energy efficiency differs significantly in different reform stages and between central and peripheral cities. This study sheds light on the importance of land resource allocation in improving energy efficiency and thus has practical policy implications for promoting low-carbon energy transition in emerging countries.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Oleogels represent one of the most important carriers for the delivery of lipophilic nutraceuticals. Phytosterols (PS), plant-derived natural sterol compounds, are preferred for oleogel preparation due to their self-assembly properties and health function. However, the relationship between the physical properties of PS-based oleogels and the chemical stability of loaded bioactive compounds is still unclear. RESULTS: The influence of lecithin (LC) and glycerol monostearate (GMS) on the physical properties of PS-based oleogels made of liquid coconut oil and the stability of curcumin as a model bioactive loaded in the oleogels was investigated. Results showed that the flow consistency index was much higher for GMS-containing oleogels than that for LC-containing oleogels. The optical microscopy and X-ray scattering analysis showed that the addition of GMS in the PS oleogels promoted the formation of a crystal mixture with different crystal polymorph structures, whereas LC addition promoted the formation of needle-like crystals of PS. Using curcumin as a model lipophilic nutraceutical, the GMS-enriched PS oleogels with high crystallinity and flow consistency index exhibited a good retention ratio and scavenging activity of the loaded curcumin when stored at room temperature. CONCLUSION: This study shows that enhancing the firmness of oleogels made from PS and liquid coconut oil is beneficial to the retention and chemical stability of a loaded bioactive (curcumin). The findings of the study will boost the development of PS-based oleogel formulations for lipophilic nutraceutical delivery. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Ovalbumin (OVA), accounting for 50% of proteins in egg white, is a kind of high-quality protein with excellent nutritional and processing functions. Acid heat treatment will induce the deformation and filtration of OVA, endowing it with improved functionality. However, the molecular kinetic process during the fibrillation of OVA and the application of the fabricated OVA fibrils (OVAFs) have not been thoroughly studied and revealed. RESULTS: In this study, the fabrication mechanism and the application OVAFs as an interfacial stabilizer and polyphenol protector were investigated. Acidic (pH 3.0) heat treatment was used to induce the fibrillation of OVA, and thioflavin T fluorescence intensity, molecular weight distribution, and the tertiary and secondary structures of OVAF samples were recorded to determine the fibrillation efficiency and the molecular mechanism. The results showed that, in the initial stage of fibrillation, OVA first hydrolyzed to oligopeptides, accompanied by the exposure of hydrophobic domains. Then, oligopeptides were connected by disulfide bonds to form primary fibril monomers. Hydrophobic interaction and hydrogen bonding may participate in the further polymerization of the fibrils. The fabricated OVAFs were characterized by a ß-sheet-rich structure and possessed improved emulsifying, foaming, and polyphenol protection ability. CONCLUSION: The research work was meaningful for exploring the application of globular water-soluble OVA in an emerging nutritious food with novel texture and sensory properties. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Glycosylation is an effective method to modify protein. However, there is a lack of research on the property changes of glycosylated protein during storage. In the present study, the changes in the physicochemical, functional, and structural properties of xylo-oligosaccharide (XOS) glycosylated egg white powder (EWP) (XOS-EWP conjugates) prepared with different glycosylation conditions (XOS/EWP ratio and reaction time) were investigated when stored at 25 °C and 60% relative humidity. RESULTS: In the 12 weeks of storage, the degree of grafting, browning, and the formation of Maillard reaction products of XOS-EWP conjugates increased. The increase in XOS/EWP ratio and reaction time led to an increase in protein aggregation, though a decrease in solubility, due to increased degree of glycosylation and structural changes. Furthermore, improved gel hardness of XOS-EWP conjugates deteriorated, while improved emulsification ability was kept stable during storage. For the sample with a lower XOS/EWP ratio and reaction time, the gel hardness and emulsifying properties underwent little or no deterioration even improving during storage. The results could be attributed to the limited degree of glycosylation, further unfolding of the protein structure, increased surface hydrophobicity of protein, and improved thermal characteristics. CONCLUSION: During storage, the Maillard reaction would continue to occur in the glycosylated EWP, further affecting the performance of modified EWP. Modified EWP prepared under different glycosylation conditions performed differently during storage. Modified EWP with a larger XOS/EWP ratio and reaction time meant it was harder to maintain good performance. Modified EWP with a smaller XOS/EWP ratio and reaction time changed significantly to better performances. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Soy protein isolate (SPI) is widely used as an alternative to animal-based protein, and its gelling property is essential for producing plant protein-based foods. Insoluble dietary fiber has been used to improve the properties of protein gels. RESULTS: Effects of partial replacement of SPI by okara dietary fiber (ODF) on the gelling properties of ODF-fortified SPI gels with and without 0.1 m NaCl were investigated. The presence of ODF hindered the SPI self-aggregation and reduced the surface hydrophobicity of SPI. The presence of ODF reduced the hydrophobic interaction and improved the proportion of disulfide bonds in the gels. In the microstructure, the swollen ODF promoted the local aggregation of SPI at 0.1 m NaCl. Texture profile analysis showed that 5% and 10% ODF improved the SPI gel hardness in the absence of NaCl, whereas only 5% ODF improved the gel hardness at 0.1 m NaCl. The results of low-field nuclear magnetic resonance imaging revealed that ODF shortened the T2 relaxation time of the free water in the gel. The gel of ODF-10 had the highest storage modulus. CONCLUSION: Using an appropriate amount of ODF to replace SPI could improve the quality of SPI gel and increase the dietary fiber content in the product. In addition, the appropriate ratio of ODF/SPI varied in different solution environments. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

Exposure to air pollution during pregnancy has been linked to birth defects. But the directions of studies on the associations between air pollutants exposure and effect on the incidence of congenital heart disease (CHDs) were inconsistent. To date, few studies were concentrated on the effects of both particulate matter and gaseous air pollutant exposure on CHDs across the full gestational week simultaneously. Our study aimed to investigate the critical exposure windows for each air pollutant throughout 40 gestational weeks. Data on CHDs, air pollution, and meteorological factors from 2013 to 2019 were collected in Lanzhou, China. A distributed lag nonlinear model combined with a quasi-Poisson regression model was applied to evaluate the weekly exposure-lag-response association between air pollutants levels and CHDs, and the subgroup analyses were conducted by gender (baby boy and baby girl). The study included 1607 mother-infant pairs. The results demonstrated that exposure of pregnant women to particulate matter ≤ 5 µm (PM2.5) at lag 1-4 weeks was significantly associated with the risk of CHDs, and the strongest effects were observed in the lag 1 week (1.150, 95%CI 1.059-1.248). For exposure to particulate matter ≤ 10 µm (PM10) at lag 1-3 weeks, the strongest effects were observed in the lag 1 week (1.075, 95% CI 1.026-1.128). For exposure to sulfur dioxide (SO2) at lag 1-4 weeks, the strongest effects were observed in the lag 1 week (1.154, 95% CI 1.025-1.299). For exposure to carbon monoxide (CO) at lag 1-3 weeks, the strongest effects were observed in the lag 1 week (1.089, 95% CI 1.002-1.183). For exposure to ozone (O3) concentration at lag 9-15 weeks, the strongest effects were observed in the lag 15 weeks (1.628, 95% CI 1.001-2.649). The cumulative effects of PM2.5, PM10, SO2, and CO along weeks with a maximum of 1.609 (95%CI 1.000-2.589), 1.286 (95%CI 1.007-1.641), 1.648 (95%CI 1.018-2.668), and 1.368 (95%CI 1.003, 1.865), respectively. The effects were obvious in the initial gestational weeks too. Through the gender stratification analysis, the air pollutants with significant effects were PM2.5 for baby boys and PM2.5, PM10, SO2, CO, NO2, and O3 for baby girl. For the relationship between CHDs and air pollution in Lanzhou, PM2.5, PM10, SO2, CO, and O3 played an important role in the initial gestational weeks, especially for baby girl.

RESUMO

A rapid, portable, and cost-effective method to detect the infection of SARS-CoV-2 is fundamental toward mitigating the current COVID-19 pandemic. Herein, a human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 protein (ACE2) functionalized silver nanotriangle (AgNT) array localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) sensor is developed for rapid coronavirus detection, which is validated by SARS-CoV-2 spike RBD protein and CoV NL63 virus with high sensitivity and specificity. A linear shift of the LSPR wavelength versus the logarithm of the concentration of the spike RBD protein and CoV NL63 is observed. The limits of detection for the spike RBD protein, CoV NL63 in buffer and untreated saliva are determined to be 0.83 pM, 391 PFU/mL, and 625 PFU/mL, respectively, while the detection time is found to be less than 20 min. Thus, the AgNT array optical sensor could serve as a potential rapid point-of-care COVID-19 diagnostic platform.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to describe a case of ovarian torsion necrosis due to delayed treatment of luteoma in a woman with IVF twin pregnancy who was misdiagnosed with acute appendicitis. We summarized the clinical manifestations and diagnosis of luteoma in a woman with IVF twin pregnancy and reviewed the relevant literature. We report the case of a 34-year-old Asian female who became pregnant through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and had acute right underbelly pain at 26 weeks and 6 days of gestation, which was misdiagnosed as acute appendicitis. Written consent was obtained from the patient. After fasting for a short duration and receiving anti-inflammatory and intravenous fluid replacement treatment after admission, the woman experienced increased right lower abdominal pain without relief and decreased fetal movement. B-ultrasound and CT examination showed that luteoma torsion was possible, and we performed emergency surgical laparotomy. During the operation, it was found that the right ovary was enlarged, the fallopian tube was twisted 720 degrees, and there was no lesion in the appendix. The right necrotic ovary was removed, and pathological results showed a hemorrhagic corpus luteum in the right ovary. The patient's abdominal pain was relieved after the operation and the pregnancy was continued. This is a typical case of ovariectomy associated with a luteoma of pregnancy. Whether in vitro fertilization and related procedures increase the risk of luteoma and whether they increase the risk of ovarian torsion necrosis in the case of luteoma formation are questions that need further study.

RESUMO

The malignant progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has been confirmed to be mediated by a variety of factors, including circular RNA (circRNA). However, the role of circLPAR3 in OSCC development is still unclear. 70 paired OSCC tissues and normal control tissues were obtained from 70 OSCC patients. Quantitative real-time PCR was used to detect the expression of circLPAR3, microRNA (miR)-643, and high-mobility group box 2 (HMGB2). Cell proliferation, apoptosis, metastasis and stemness were assessed using cell counting kit 8 assay, colony-formation assay, flow cytometry, transwell assay and sphere formation assay. Marker protein expression and HMGB2 protein expression were determined by western blot analysis. The interaction between miR-643 and circLPAR3 or HMGB2 was confirmed by RNA pull-down assay, dual-luciferase reporter and RIP assay. The role of circLPAR3 in OSCC tumorigenesis was explored by constructing the xenograft models. Our data showed that circLPAR3 was highly expressed in OSCC tissues and cells. CircLPAR3 silencing suppressed OSCC cell proliferation, metastasis and stemness, while promoted apoptosis. On the mechanism, we discovered that circLPAR3 could sponge miR-643 to positive regulate HMGB2. MiR-643 overexpression had an inhibition effect on OSCC progression, and its inhibitor could reverse the negative regulation of circLPAR3 knockdown on OSCC progression. In addition, overexpressed HMGB2 also reversed the suppressive effect of circLPAR3 silencing on OSCC progression. Animal experiments results showed that downregulated circLPAR3 repressed OSCC tumorigenesis in vivo. Taken together, our data showed that circLPAR3 contributed to OSCC malignant progression through regulating the miR-643/HMGB2 axis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Egg yolk granules (EYGs)-soy lecithin (SL) complex is a newly developed delivery system that is effective for improving the storage stability of hydrophobic bioactive compounds. However, the formation mechanism of EYGs and SL complex and its effect on the gastrointestinal fate of lutein-loaded emulsions needs to be investigated further. RESULTS: Adding SL greatly improved the surface activity of the EYGs, as evidenced by reduced surface tension and an increased adsorption rate to the oil/water interface. Hydrophobic interaction was the dominant force in the formation of EYG-SL complex, with hydrogen and ionic bonds playing complementary roles. Using the EYG-SL complex, stable oil-in-water emulsions were formed and exhibited an enhanced retention ratio and bioaccessibility of lutein after simulated digestion. Correlation analysis demonstrated that the additional anti-oxidant activity as a result of EYGs was responsible for the high retention of lutein, whereas low surface tension facilitated the micellization of bioaccessible lutein. CONCLUSION: The present study shows that the EYG and SL have a synergistic effect with respect to improving the retention ratio and bioaccessibility of lutein in emulsions stabilized by EYG-SL complex after digestion and this will guide the development of value-added oil-in-water emulsion products using protein-lecithin complex as a promising nutrient delivery vehicle. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Isolation of lysozyme from egg white (EW) using ion exchange resin adsorption method generates large quantities of lysozyme-free egg white (LFEW) with poor gelling property. To maximize the applications of LFEW, the effect of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum fermentation on the gel properties of LFEW was investigated in this study. RESULTS: The fermentation efficiency of LFEW with lysozyme removed was significantly improved, and the sugar removal rate (2 g kg-1 Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, 37 °C, 7 h) was more than 90%. Removal of lysozyme resulted in increased stability and surface hydrophobicity of EW. After Lactiplantibacillus plantarum fermentation, the stability of EW decreased, and the average particle size and surface hydrophobicity increased. In addition, by comparing the gel properties of EW and LFEW before and after fermentation at different pH, it was found that the hardness, elasticity, and water holding capacity (WHC) of EW gel increased significantly. The removal of lysozyme effectively improved the WHC and springiness of the EW gel and promoted the formation of a denser network structure with smaller pores. After Lactiplantibacillus plantarum fermentation treatment, LFEW gel hardness decreased, with loose and porous network structure, no browning occurred after autoclaving. CONCLUSION: This study provided the direction and theoretical basis for producing a fermented LFEW gel with pleasing texture and appearance. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Water-in-oil-in-water (W1 /O/W2 ) emulsions stabilized by protein-carbohydrate complexes were prepared from an inner water phase (W1 ), an oil phase (O) and an outer water phase (W2 ). The complexes consisted of heat-induced aggregates (HIAs) of isomalto-oligosaccharide/egg white protein Maillard conjugates. The effects of polyglycerol ester of polyricinoleic acid (PGPR) concentration, HIA concentration, W1 -to-O volume ratio and W1 /O-to-W2 volume ratio on the properties of the W1 /O/W2 emulsions were systematically investigated. RESULTS: At sufficiently high PGPR concentrations (>2%), the emulsions possess a high negative charge (≈-44 mV). The encapsulation efficiency of the emulsions, which was determined by incorporating a hydrophilic yellow dye in the inner water phase prior to homogenization, was relatively high (up to 93%) and did not change significantly during 14-day storage at 4 °C. All emulsions were fluids that exhibited shear thinning behavior. CONCLUSION: Overall, this study shows that nature-derived emulsifiers can be used to create W1 /O/W2 emulsions suitable for application in the food industry. In addition, we provided a viable strategy to encapsulate water-soluble nutrients. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the risk factors of abdominal aortic enlargement (AAE) after thoracic endovascular aortic repair using two-stent graft implantation (TEVAR-TSI) for Stanford type B aortic dissection. Methods: The clinical and imaging data of patients who underwent TEVAR-TSI for Stanford type B aortic dissection in the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University from January 2013 through September 2020 were retrospectively collected and analyzed. CT angiography (CTA) scans were performed before the procedure. Follow-up CTA scans were scheduled and performed in 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after the procedure and annually thereafter. The primary outcome was AAE. The risk factors of AAE after TEVAR-TSI were selected and survival analysis and multivariate logistic regression were conducted accordingly. Results: A total of 146 patients were regularly followed up at our hospital, with the median followup time of the entire cohort being 48 months (ranging from 12 to 84 months). During the followup period after TEVAR-TSI, the incidence of AAE was 19.9% (29/146). A total of 29 patients developed AAE (the AAE group), while 117 patients did not develop AAE (the non-AAE group). There were a total of 27 deaths, including 13 in the non-AAE group versus 14 in the AAE group. Distal aortic reoperation was performed on 10 patients, including 4 in the non-AAE group versus 6 in the AAE group. The cumulative long-term survival and freedom from distal aortic reoperation of the non-AAE group were both significantly better those of the AAE group ( P<0.05). Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that independent risk factors of AAE after TEVAR-TSI included the following, partial thrombosis of the false lumen (odds ratio [ OR]=4.090, 95% confidence interval [ CI]: 1.539-10.867, P=0.005), the longer cumulative diameter of residual intimal tear above the level of the lowest renal arteries ( OR=1.290, 95% CI: 1.164-1.429, P=0.000), and shorter cumulative diameter of residual intimal tear below the level of the lowest renal arteries ( OR=0.487, 95% CI: 0.270-0.878, P=0.017). Conclusion: The prognosis of patients who developed AAE after TEVAR-TSI was not good. During followup visits, as precautions against the development of AAE, close attention should be paid to partial thrombosis of the false lumen, cumulative diameter of residual intimal tear above the level of the lowest renal arteries, and cumulative diameter of residual intimal tear below the level of the lowest renal arteries.

RESUMO

This study took the 2020 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia(ChP) and the 2018 edition of National Essential Drug List(NEDL) for children as research carriers to systematically analyze the current situation of and problems in the use of Chinese patent medicine for children(CPMC) in China. In view of the problems of imprecise dosage, incomplete safety information, and lack of sui-table varieties, dosage form and specification of CPMC in China, development strategy of CPMC in the future was proposed. It is reco-mmended to carry out systematic post-marketing revaluation studies of CPMC, encourage the development of new varieties or new dosa-ge forms suitable for children, advocate the continuous promotion of real-world studies on children, and expand the information on the use of CPMC with real-world data, so as to lay the foundation for post-marketing revaluation of CPMC and guide the rational use of clini-cal medicines. This study was expected to build a positive policy ecosystem to ensure the supply of CPMC, and promote the high-quality development of CPMC.

RESUMO

Pediatric medication in China is characterized by a lack of child-specific drugs and insufficient types, specifications, dosage forms, and delivery devices. In recent years, new dosage forms with good compliance, such as inhalation preparation, rectal delivery system, and transdermal delivery system, have attracted more attention in pediatric medication. Because of the physiological characteristics of delicate viscera, difference in swallowing ability and psychological characteristics of fear of pain and aversion to bitter taste, it is particularly important to select suitable drug delivery route and drug delivery device according to children's physiological characteristics. With the help of the special drug delivery devices, traditional Chinese medicine and innovative Chinese medicine can be administered according to the expected design path, and drug delivery devices can ensure the accurate dose and improve the complia-nce to achieve the purpose of effective and safe drug delivery. It is also a way to realize the re-innovation of traditional Chinese medicine. The present study summarized the research progress in drug delivery devices for common drug delivery routes and new drug deli-very routes, put forward the innovative design idea of children's drug delivery devices according to the special needs of children, poin-ted out the compatibility of drug delivery devices and other problems in the current development, and prospected the application of intelligent information technology and additive manufacturing technology in drug delivery device innovation. This is expected to provide references for the development of innovative drugs and drug delivery devices suitable for children's multidimensional demand for medication.

RESUMO

Under the background of the "14th Five-Year Plan" industry development, the pharmaceutical industry has ushered in a critical period of strategic transformation. Pharmaceutical excipients are a major categoryin drugs in addition tomedicinal substances, and the research and development of industrial technologies and innovative products play a decisive role in the development of high-quality drugs. The special drug for children is the focus ofthe pharmaceutical industry in the new era, and the application of standar-dized excipients is a key step indistinguishingbetween adult drugs and special drugs for children. In the context of the policy background in China, this paper reviewed the status quo of excipient industry, technical bottlenecks, application problems of pediatric excipients, and their development hotspots, interpreted the strategic layout of excipient innovation research and development suitable for pediatric preparations, and put forward prospects for their future development technicalroutes to lay a solid foundation for the industry transformation.
