RESUMO

In Xanthomonas spp., the biosynthesis of the yellow pigment xanthomonadin and fatty acids originates in the type II polyketide synthase (PKS II) and fatty acid synthase (FAS) pathways, respectively. The acyl carrier protein (ACP) is the central component of PKS II and FAS and requires posttranslational phosphopantetheinylation to initiate these pathways. In this study, for the first time, we demonstrate that the posttranslational modification of ACPs in X. campestris pv. campestris is performed by an essential 4'-phosphopantetheinyl transferase (PPTase), XcHetI (encoded by Xc_4132). X. campestris pv. campestris strain XchetI could not be deleted from the X. campestris pv. campestris genome unless another PPTase-encoding gene such as Escherichia coli acpS or Pseudomonas aeruginosa pcpS was present. Compared with wild-type strain X. campestris pv. campestris 8004 and mutant XchetI::PapcpS, strain XchetI::EcacpS failed to generate xanthomonadin pigments and displayed reduced pathogenicity for the host plant, Brassica oleracea. Further experiments showed that the expression of XchetI restored the growth of E. coli acpS mutant HT253 and, when a plasmid bearing XchetI was introduced into P. aeruginosa, pcpS, which encodes the sole PPTase in P. aeruginosa, could be deleted. In in vitro enzymatic assays, XcHetI catalyzed the transformation of 4'-phosphopantetheine from coenzyme A to two X. campestris pv. campestris apo-acyl carrier proteins, XcAcpP and XcAcpC. All of these findings indicate that XcHetI is a surfactin PPTase-like PPTase with a broad substrate preference. Moreover, the HetI-like PPTase is ubiquitously conserved in Xanthomonas spp., making it a potential new drug target for the prevention of plant diseases caused by Xanthomonas.[Formula: see text] Copyright © 2022 The Author(s). AtDjC5 belongs to the J-protein family in Arabidopsis thaliana. Its biological functions remain unclear. In this study, we examined the roles of AtDjC5 in resisting heat stress using reverse genetic analysis. After the seedlings were exposed directly to 44 °C for 90 min, AtDjC5 knockout seedlings displayed decreases in the survival rate, membrane system stability, and cell vitality compared to WT seedlings, indicating that AtDjC5 is involved in plant basal thermotolerance. The AtDjC5 knockout seedlings pre-exposed to 37 °C for 30 min exhibited decreases in the survival rate and total chlorophyll contents and increased cell death when they were subsequently exposed to 45 °C compared to the WT seedlings, indicating that AtDjC5 plays an important role in plant acquired thermotolerance. AtDjC5 was found to localize to the endoplasmic reticulum. The expression of the AtDjC5 gene was induced by heat and TM (an ER stress inducer) treatment. Furthermore, we found that the knockout of AtDjC5 inhibited ER stress-induced autophagy and the expression of ER stress-related genes. Taken together, these results suggest that AtDjC5 facilitates thermotolerance, likely by aiding in the ER stress response.

PURPOSE: To explore whether retrobulbar administration of nerve growth factor (NGF) can restore visual function of streptozotocin-induced diabetes rats. METHODS: A high-sucrose/high-fat diet and single injection of streptozotocin (STZ) were used in modeling diabetes. During week 13-15 after STZ injection, diabetic rats were received retrobulbar ßNGF injection. On week 17 after STZ injection, the rats were tested with flash visual evoked potential (FVEP) to reflect visual function and with both optical coherence tomography (OCT) and hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining to show retinal morphological changes. Furthermore, periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staining for retinal vascular digest preparations was performed to investigate retinal microvascular alterations, and immunofluorescences for slides of the optic nerve or retina were checked to assess astrocyte activation, autophagy level, and the unfolded protein response (UPR). RESULTS: Retrobulbar ßNGF injection significantly improved FVEP of diabetic rats. It also significantly alleviated retinal ganglion cell (RGC) loss and scarcely elicited other retinal/microvascular morphological changes, in OCT, H&E staining, and microvascular preparation. Moreover when diabetes rats treated with NGF, immunostaining of the optic nerve showed downregulation of complement 3d (C3d) and upregulations of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), S100-A10, microtubule-associated proteins 1A/1B light chain 3b (LC3b), and activating transcription factor 4 (ATF-4), while immunostaining of the retina showed upregulation of LC3b and no expression of ATF-4. CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrate that retrobulbar administration of ßNGF reduces visual impairment with RGC-loss attenuation and without retinal-microvascular morphological alteration in diabetic rats. Furthermore, enhancements of A2 astrocyte activation, autophagy-protein expression, and ATF-4-mediated UPR may play crucial roles in the protective mechanism of NGF in diabetic visual-pathway neurodegeneration.

Railway axle bearings are one of the most important components used in vehicles and their failures probably result in unexpected accidents and economic losses. To realize a condition monitoring and fault diagnosis scheme of railway axle bearings, three dimensionless steadiness indexes in a time domain, a frequency domain, and a shape domain are respectively proposed to measure the steady states of bearing vibration signals. Firstly, vibration data collected from some designed experiments are pre-processed by using ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD). Then, the coefficient of variation is introduced to construct two steady-state indexes from pre-processed vibration data in a time domain and a frequency domain, respectively. A shape function is used to construct a steady-state index in a shape domain. At last, to distinguish normal and abnormal bearing health states, some guideline thresholds are proposed. Further, to identify axle bearings with outer race defects, a pin roller defect, a cage defect, and coupling defects, the boundaries of all steadiness indexes are experimentally established. Experimental results showed that the proposed condition monitoring and fault diagnosis scheme is effective in identifying different bearing health conditions.

As train loads and travel speeds have increased over time, railway axle bearings have become critical elements which require more efficient non-destructive inspection and fault diagnostics methods. This paper presents a novel and adaptive procedure based on ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and Hilbert marginal spectrum for multi-fault diagnostics of axle bearings. EEMD overcomes the limitations that often hypothesize about data and computational efforts that restrict the application of signal processing techniques. The outputs of this adaptive approach are the intrinsic mode functions that are treated with the Hilbert transform in order to obtain the Hilbert instantaneous frequency spectrum and marginal spectrum. Anyhow, not all the IMFs obtained by the decomposition should be considered into Hilbert marginal spectrum. The IMFs' confidence index arithmetic proposed in this paper is fully autonomous, overcoming the major limit of selection by user with experience, and allows the development of on-line tools. The effectiveness of the improvement is proven by the successful diagnosis of an axle bearing with a single fault or multiple composite faults, e.g., outer ring fault, cage fault and pin roller fault.

A simple and rapid method based on high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) was developed for the simultaneous determination of imidacloprid and chlorfenapyr residues in chieh-qua. Field trials were designed to investigate the dissipation and terminal residue behavior of the mixed formulation of imidacloprid and chlorfenapyr in chieh-qua in Guangzhou and Nanning areas. Risk assessment was performed by calculating the risk quotient (RQ) values. The developed analytical method exhibited recoveries of 89.9-110.3% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 2.8-12.5% at the spiked levels of 0.01, 0.10, and 1.00 mg/kg. The limit of detection (LOD) was 0.003 mg/kg, and the limit of quantification (LOQ) was 0.01 mg/kg for both imidacloprid and chlorfenapyr. It was found that the half-lives of imidacloprid in chieh-qua under field conditions were 3.3 and 3.5 days in Guangzhou and Nanning at a dose of 180 g ai/ha, while the half-lives of chlorfenapyr were 3.3 and 2.6 days, respectively. The terminal residues of imidacloprid and chlorfenapyr were from 0.01 to 0.21 mg/kg and from 0.01 to 0.46 mg/kg, respectively. Results of dietary exposure assessment showed that the RQ values were much lower than 1, indicating that the risk of imidacloprid and chlorfenapyr applied in chieh-qua was negligible to human health under recommended dosage and good agricultural practices. The proposed study would provide guidance for safe and reasonable use of imidacloprid and chlorfenapyr in chieh-qua cultivation in China.

In our previous work, the concept of critical region in a generalized Aubry-André model (Ganeshan-Pixley-Das Sarma's model) has been established. In this work, we find that the critical region can be realized in a one-dimensional flat band lattice with a quasi-periodic potential. It is found that the above flat band lattice model can be reduced to an effective Ganeshan-Pixley-Das Sarma's model. Depending on various parameter ranges, the effective quasi-periodic potential may be bounded or unbounded. In these two cases, the Lyapunov exponent, mobility edge, and critical indices of localized length are obtained exactly. In this flat band model, the localized-extended, localized-critical and critical-extended transitions can coexist. Furthermore, we find that near the transitions between the bound and unbounded cases, the derivative of Lyapunov exponent of localized states with respect to energy is discontinuous. At the end, the localized states in bounded and unbounded cases can be distinguished from each other by Avila's acceleration.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the relationship between stages of labour and the risk of postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) and provide evidence for clinical application. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Manual searches were undertaken, and computer searches of PubMed, MEDLINE, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang and Wipu databases with a search window from database creation to April 2022 were conducted to procure relevant studies on the relationship between labour phase and PPH. The articles included in this study were evaluated for quality, and RevMan 5.3 software was used for meta-analysis. RESULTS: Meta-analysis showed that the incidence of PPH in women with weak uterine contractions was 27.5%, compared with 18.1% in women with normal contractions [relative risk (RR) = 1.60; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.38, 1.85; p < 0.01]. There was a statistically significant difference in the incidence of PPH in pregnant women with a prolonged second stage of labour (≥ 2 h) (34.5%) compared with those whose second stage of labour was normal in duration (15.9%) (RR = 0.20; 95% CI 0.15, 0.25; p < 0.01). The incidence of PPH was 52.1% in pregnant women with a prolonged third stage of labour (≥ 15 min) compared with 20.9% in those whose third stage of labour was of normal duration (RR = 3.53; 95% CI 2.75, 4.52; p < 0.01). The difference in the incidence of a prolonged third stage of labour in pregnant women with weak contractions compared with those with normal contractions was statistically significant (72.3% vs 15.5%) (RR = 0.47; 95% CI 0.35, 0.60; p < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Duration of labour is associated with the development of PPH, and the risk of PPH is increased in women with weak contractions or with a prolonged second or third stage of labour.

Live streaming is revolutionizing the landscape of e-commerce, creating new opportunities for platforms and e-tailers to improve their performance. However, little is known about the underlying mechanisms that shape consumer behavior in this burgeoning business phenomenon. This study aims to shed light on the relationships between environmental cues generated by live streaming and online impulse buying. Drawing upon the Stimulus-Organism-Response framework, a comprehensive model was formulated to explore how social cues (streamer interaction, peer interaction) and media cues (vividness, realness) impact pleasure, arousal, perceived uncertainty, and subsequently induce consumers' urge to buy impulsively. The model was tested by survey data from 403 consumers. SPSS and PLS are employed to verify the model. The findings revealed that realness and streamer interaction can reduce perceived uncertainty and foster a pleasant consumer experience, while vividness and peer interaction serve to awaken and delight consumers. Pleasure, arousal, and perceived uncertainty mediate antecedent variables' effects on urge to buy impulsively in a parallel and reverse way, and emotions exert a more powerful influence. This study enriched the research on the influence mechanisms of impulse buying driven by live streaming and provided suggestions for platforms and streamers to optimize product display and guide interaction, which is conducive to leveraging the advantages of live streaming and creating greater commercial value.

In winter snowy or rainy weather, the phenomenon of icing under rolling stock during high-speed operation is significantly severe, posing a potential risk of detachment and impact on track structures due to the presence of ice blocks with substantial mass and velocity. Therefore, it is crucial to develop an efficient method for characterizing and evaluating this impact damage in order to assess the service life of the track. To address this issue, the indoor ice impact tests were conducted on track slab models, and a comprehensive analysis was performed on non-destructive testing data before and after the impact test, including 3D surface morphology assessment, surface hardness and wave velocity measurements. Additionally, in order to verify the effectiveness of the nondestructive testing method, the frozen-thawed and not frozen-thawed track slab models were tested and their results were compared. The experimental results revealed that when impacted by ice blocks at a velocity of 100 m/s, small dimples formed on the surface of track slab models with the maximum depth measured at 0.0694 mm. There was a maximum increase rate in surface hardness amounting to 11.61%, and a maximum decrease rate in wave velocity measuring at 6.52%. Furthermore, the impact damage of the two models has been evaluated, the not frozen-thawed track slab model exhibited minor damage after impact, whereas the frozen-thawed track slab model demonstrated moderate damage in the contact region and minor damage outside of that region. The proposed non-destructive testing method effectively enables assessing the impact damage inflicted upon slab models while providing valuable insights for maintenance and repair strategies related to track slabs.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a prevalent chronic liver disorder that is linked to metabolic syndrome, mitochondrial dysfunction and impaired autophagy. Polydatin (PD), a natural polyphenol from Polygonum cuspidatum, exhibits various pharmacological effects and protects against NAFLD. The aim of this study was to reveal the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic potential of PD for NAFLD, with a focus on the role of mitochondrial autophagy mediated by sirtuin 3 (SIRT3), fork-head box O3 (FOXO3) and BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kDa protein-interacting protein 3 (BNIP3), and by PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1) and parkin (PRKN). We combined network pharmacology analysis, animal models and cell culture experiments to show that PD could regulate the mitochondrial autophagy pathway by modulating several key genes related to mitochondrial function, and ameliorate the liver function, histopathology and mitochondrial biogenesis of NAFLD mice and hepatocytes by activating the SIRT3-FOXO3-BNIP3 axis and the PINK1-PRKN-dependent mechanism of mitochondrial autophagy. We also identified the core targets of PD, including SIRT3, FOXO3A, CASP3, PARKIN, EGFR, STAT3, MMP9 and PINK, and confirmed that silencing SIRT3 could significantly attenuate the beneficial effect of PD. This study provided novel theoretical and experimental support for PD as a promising candidate for NAFLD treatment, and also suggested new avenues and methods for investigating the role of mitochondrial autophagy in the pathogenesis and intervention of NAFLD.

We investigate the effects of disorder and shielding on quantum transports in a two dimensional system with all-to-all long range hopping. In the weak disorder, cooperative shielding manifests itself as perfect conducting channels identical to those of the short range model, as if the long range hopping does not exist. With increasing disorder, the average and fluctuation of conductance are larger than those in the short range model, since the shielding is effectively broken and therefore long range hopping starts to take effect. Over several orders of disorder strength (until [Formula: see text] times of nearest hopping), although the wavefunctions are not fully extended, they are also robustly prevented from being completely localized into a single site. Each wavefunction has several localization centers around the whole sample, thus leading to a fractal dimension remarkably smaller than 2 and also remarkably larger than 0, exhibiting a hybrid feature of localization and delocalization. The size scaling shows that for sufficiently large size and disorder strength, the conductance tends to saturate to a fixed value with the scaling function [Formula: see text], which is also a marginal phase between the typical metal ([Formula: see text]) and insulating phase ([Formula: see text]). The all-to-all coupling expels one isolated but extended state far out of the band, whose transport is extremely robust against disorder due to absence of backscattering. The bond current picture of this isolated state shows a quantum version of short circuit through long hopping.

A one-dimensional lattice model with mosaic quasiperiodic potential is found to exhibit interesting localization properties, e.g. clear mobility edges (Wanget al2020Phys. Rev. Lett.125196604). We generalize this mosaic quasiperiodic model to a two-dimensional version, and numerically investigate its localization properties: the phase diagram from the fractal dimension of the wavefunction, the statistical and scaling properties of the conductance. Compared with disordered systems, our model shares many common features but also exhibits some different characteristics in the same dimensionality and the same universality class. For example, the sharp peak atg∼0of the critical distribution and the largeglimit of the universal scaling functionßresemble those behaviors of three-dimensional disordered systems.

In this work, we investigate the bound states in the continuum (BIC) of a one-dimensional spin-1 flat band system. It is found that, when the potential is sufficiently strong, there exists an effective attractive potential well surrounded by infinitely high self-sustained barriers. Consequently, there exist some BIC in the effective potential well. These bound states are protected by the infinitely high potential barriers, which could not decay into the continuum. Taking a long-ranged Coulomb potential and a short-ranged exponential potential as two examples, the bound state energies are obtained. For a Coulomb potential, there exists a series of critical potential strengths, near which the bound state energy can go to infinity. For a sufficiently strong exponential potential, there exist two different bound states with a same number of wave function nodes. The existence of BIC protected by the self-sustained potential barriers is quite a universal phenomenon in the flat band system under a strong potential. A necessary condition for the existence of BIC is that the maximum of potential is larger than two times band gap.

A promising method is proposed systematically to select an accurate resonance frequency band and separate refined resonance response from periodic excitation in this study. This work expanded the short-time Fourier transform (STFT)- and wavelet transform (WT)-based Kurtograms and developed a hybrid signal separation operator (SSO)-spectral kurtosis computational scheme to implement Kurtogram by introducing the SSO method-SSO-based Kurtogram. The ability to accurately extract the refined resonance frequency band of SSO greatly improves its adaptivity for engineering applications. The effectiveness of the SSO-based Kurtogram is studied by using a bearing fault simulation signal, and the influence of window function on the detection effect of the proposed method is explored. Furthermore the validity of the SSO-based Kurtogram for bearing fault detection is verified by a set of railway wheelset-bearing experiments on the wheelset running-in testbed bench. Experimental results show that the SSO-based Kurtogram performs highly in detecting various kinds of single and compound faults of bearings. Compared with the WT- and STFT-based Kurtogram, the proposed method has obvious advantages in terms of effectiveness and visual inspection ability. In engineering practice, a railway wheelset-bearing-fault experiment on an in-service high-speed train in the real world is taken as a case study, which makes the verification of SSO-based Kurtogram more convincing and demonstrates the practical engineering value of the proposed method. The results show that in case of equal effectiveness, SSO-based Kurtogram has an absolute advantage in the visual inspection ability, embodied in eliminating other vibrations unrelated to the target fault and making the fault feature frequency and its harmonics remarkable.

Esophageal cancer (EC) is the most aggressive malignancy in the gastrointestinal tract. Long noncoding RNA cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2 B antisense RNA 1 (CDKN2B-AS1) is implicated in EC development. However, the specific mechanisms involved remain poorly defined. Therefore, this research aimed to explore the mechanism of action of CDKN2B-AS1 in EC. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was conducted to measure CDKN2B-AS1 expression in EC cells and western blotting was utilized to evaluate transcription factor AP-2 alpha (TFAP2A) and fascin actin-bundling protein 1 (FSCN1) expression. After gain-of-function and loss-of-function assays, cell proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis, and apoptosis-related protein expression were assessed using cell counting kit-8, scratch tests, Transwell assays, flow cytometry, and western blotting, respectively. The binding relationship between CDKN2B-AS1 and TFAP2A was assessed by RNA immunoprecipitation and RNA pull-down assays. The binding relationship between TFAP2A and FSCN1 was evaluated using dual-luciferase reporter and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays. Tumor xenografts from nude mice were used for in vivo verification. CDKN2B-AS1, TFAP2A, and FSCN1 were upregulated in EC cells. Mechanistically, CDKN2B-AS1 transcriptionally activated FSCN1 by recruiting TFAP2A to the FSCN1 promoter. Silencing CDKN2B-AS1 or TFAP2A suppressed EC cell proliferative, migrating, and invasive properties and augmented apoptosis. TFAP2A was bound to CDKN2B-AS1 and the FSCN1 promoter. Overexpression of TFAP2A or FSCN1 abolished the effects of CDKN2B-AS1-silencing on EC cell function. CDKN2B-AS1 silencing curtailed tumorigenesis in nude mice, which was nullified by the upregulation of TFAP2A or FSCN1. Our findings demonstrated the antioncogenic effects of silencing CDKN2B-AS1 in EC through inactivation of the TFAP2A/FSCN1 axis.

Dihydroartemisinin (DHA) exhibits antitumor activity against a wide spectrum of cancer cells. However, whether DHA has anti-tumor effect on human osteosarcoma cells remains unknown. This study aims to investigate the anti-tumor activity of DHA and the underlying mechanisms in human osteosarcoma cell lines with different p53 mutation statuses. Four human osteosarcoma cell lines were treated with different concentrations of DHA. Then, cell proliferation was determined by the CCK-8 viability assay; apoptosis and cell cycle progression were evaluated by flow cytometry; protein expression was analyzed by western blot assay; and NF-kB activity was examined by luciferase assay. The results demonstrated that DHA treatment could inhibit the proliferation of four osteosarcoma cell lines in a dose-dependent manner. P53 wild-type osteosarcoma cells were more sensitive to DHA. Moreover, the percentage of apoptotic cell and cell arrest in G2/M phase was increased upon DHA treatment in a dose-dependent manner. Mechanistically, DHA activated caspase-3, caspase-8, and caspase-9; upregulated the expression of Bax, FAS, and cyclin D1; downregulated the expression of Bcl-2, Cdc25B, and cyclin B1; and inhibited the activity of NF-кB. In conclusion, DHA has significant anticancer effects against human osteosarcoma cells, which include induction of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. The p53 gene may play a certain role in the DHA-induced human osteosarcoma apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. DHA is a novel anti-osteosarcoma drug candidate that merits further study.

In this work, a Josephson relation is generalized to a multi-component fermion superfluid. Superfluid density is expressed through a two-particle Green function for pairing states. When the system has only one gapless collective excitation mode, the Josephson relation is simplified, which is given in terms of the superfluid order parameters and the trace of two-particle normal Green function. In addition, it is found that the matrix elements of two-particle Green function is directly related to the matrix elements of the pairing fluctuations of superfluid order parameters. Furthermore, in the presence of inversion symmetry, the superfluid density is given in terms of the pairing fluctuation matrix. The results of the superfluid density in Haldane model show that the generalized Josephson relation can be also applied to a multi-band fermion superfluid in lattice.

BACKGROUND: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common chronic degenerative joint disorder globally that is characterized by synovitis, cartilage degeneration, joint space stenosis, and sub-cartilage bone hyperplasia. However, the pathophysiologic mechanisms of OA have not been thoroughly investigated. METHODS: In this study, we conducted various bioinformatics analyses to identify hub biomarkers and immune infiltration in OA. The gene expression profiles of synovial tissues from 29 healthy controls and 36 OA samples were obtained from the gene expression omnibus database to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). The CIBERSORT algorithm was used to explore the association between immune infiltration and arthritis. RESULTS: Eighteen hub DEGs were identified as critical biomarkers for OA. Through gene ontology and pathway enrichment analyses, it was found that these DEGs were primarily involved in PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and Rap1 signaling pathway. Furthermore, immune infiltration analysis revealed differences in immune infiltration between patients with OA and healthy controls. The hub gene ZNF160 was closely related to immune cells, especially mast cell activation in OA. CONCLUSION: Overall, this study presented a novel method to identify hub DEGs and their correlation with immune infiltration, which may provide novel insights into the diagnosis and treatment of patients with OA.

The superfluid properties of attractive Hubbard model in dice lattice are investigated. It is found that three superfluid order parameters increase as the interaction increases. When the filling factor falls into the flat band, due to the infinite large density of states, the resultant superfluid order parameters are proportional to interaction strength, which is in striking contrast with the exponentially small counterparts in usual superfluid (or superconductor). When the interaction is weak, and the filling factor is near the bottom of the lowest band (or the top of highest band), the superfluid density is determined by the effective mass of the lowest (or highest) single-particle band. When the interaction is strong and filling factor is small, the superfluid density is inversely proportional to interaction strength, which is related to effective mass of tightly bound pairs. In the strong interaction limit and finite filling, the asymptotic behaviors of superfluid density can be captured by a parabolic function of filling factor. Furthermore, when the filling is in flat band, the superfluid density shows a logarithmic singularity as the interaction approaches zero. In addition, there exist three undamped collective modes for strong interactions. The lowest excitation is gapless phonon, which is characterized by the total density oscillations. The two others are gapped Leggett modes, which correspond relative density fluctuations between sublattices. The collective modes are also reflected in the two-particle spectral functions by sharp peaks. Furthermore, it is found that the two-particle spectral functions satisfy an exact sum-rule, which is directly related to the filling factor (or density of particle). The sum-rule of the spectral functions may be useful to distinguish between the hole-doped and particle-doped superfluid (superconductor) in experiments.
