RESUMO

Copolymers of 5-amino-2-naphthalenesulfonic acid (ANS) and o-aminophenol (oAP) are electropolymerized on carbon cloth substrate from aqueous solutions, and the electropolymerization process is investigated using electrochemical quartz-crystal microbalance. The surface of the copolymer (PANS-co-oAP) appears rough and is capable to store charge as the battery-type electrode in 1 m H2 SO4 (102.9 mAh g-1 at 1 A g-1 ) or in 1 m ZnSO4 (79.75 mAh g-1 at 1 A g-1 ) aqueous solutions. Compared with PANS and PoAP, the high specific capacity of the PANS-co-oAP is originated from the increased number of electrochemically active sites and increased diffusion rates of ions. Evidence of amino/imino and hydroxyl/carbonyl groups redox processes and cation insertion and extraction are given by ex situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. When used as the electrode material in the flexible solid-state supercapacitors, the specific capacitance is at 37.9 F g-1 which does not significantly alter with the bending angle. The flexible solid-state supercapacitor shows a specific energy of 5.4 Wh kg-1 and a power density of 250.3 W kg-1 at 0.5 A g-1 , and a high capacitance retention (88.2%) after 3000 cycles at 5 A g-1 is achieved.

RESUMO

Plant immune response following pathogenic infection is regulated by plant hormones, and salicylic acid (SA) and its sugar conjugates play important roles in establishing basal resistance. Here, the important pathogen Pseudopestalotiopsis camelliae-sinensis (Pcs) was isolated from tea gray blight, one of the most destructive diseases in tea plantations. Transcriptomic analysis led to the discovery of the putative Camellia sinensis UDP-glucosyltransferase CsUGT87E7 whose expression was significantly induced by SA application and Pcs infection. Recombinant CsUGT87E7 glucosylates SA with a Km value of 12 µM to form SA glucose ester (SGE). Downregulation reduced the accumulation of SGE, and CsUGT87E7-silenced tea plants exhibited greater susceptibility to pathogen infection than control plants. Similarly, CsUGT87E7-silenced tea leaves accumulated significantly less SA after infection and showed reduced expression of pathogenesis-related genes. These results suggest that CsUGT87E7 is an SA carboxyl glucosyltransferase that plays a positive role in plant disease resistance by modulating SA homeostasis through a mechanism distinct from that described in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). This study provides insight into the mechanisms of SA metabolism and highlights the role of SGE in the modulation of plant disease resistance.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aims to explore the intervention effect of research-based psychological counseling on adolescents' mental health during the COVID-19 epidemic. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: From May to July 2020, 160 young students were selected from 5 middle schools in Shandong Province of China as the participants of this study and were randomly divided into the experiment and control groups with 80 members in each group. The routine in-campus education of health knowledge related to the epidemic was conducted in the control group, while the experiment group received both the routine education and the intervention of psychological counseling in combination with outdoor exercise. RESULTS: No significant difference exists between the experiment and control groups (P>0.05) before the intervention, but the scores of the experiment group in anxiety and depression are lower than those of the control group (P<0.05) after the intervention; the PSQI score of the experiment group is significantly lower after the intervention, suggesting that the effect on the experiment group is better than the control group (P<0.05); the scores of the experiment group in psychological resilience and its 5 dimensions are higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: This intervention model has a good intervention effect on adolescents' mental health and psychological resilience. At the same time, this study enlightens the introduction of the research-based psychological counseling model when helping adolescents solve mental health problems and highlights the important role of exercise in improving adolescents' mental health and psychological resilience.

RESUMO

The fusion of monocular visual and inertial cues has become popular in robotics, unmanned vehicles and augmented reality fields. Recent results have shown that optimization-based fusion strategies outperform filtering strategies. Robust state estimation is the core capability for optimization-based visual-inertial Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) systems. As a result of the nonlinearity of visual-inertial systems, the performance heavily relies on the accuracy of initial values (visual scale, gravity, velocity and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) biases). Therefore, this paper aims to propose a more accurate initial state estimation method. On the basis of the known gravity magnitude, we propose an approach to refine the estimated gravity vector by optimizing the two-dimensional (2D) error state on its tangent space, then estimate the accelerometer bias separately, which is difficult to be distinguished under small rotation. Additionally, we propose an automatic termination criterion to determine when the initialization is successful. Once the initial state estimation converges, the initial estimated values are used to launch the nonlinear tightly coupled visual-inertial SLAM system. We have tested our approaches with the public EuRoC dataset. Experimental results show that the proposed methods can achieve good initial state estimation, the gravity refinement approach is able to efficiently speed up the convergence process of the estimated gravity vector, and the termination criterion performs well.

RESUMO

Objective: Mental health significantly affects the physical and emotional development of adolescents. The aim of the current study was to examine how physical activity (PA) and mental health among Korean adolescents changed before and after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: We used comparative cross-sectional methods, gathering information from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency databases and conducting Chi-square testing and correlation analysis for evaluation. Results: The findings indicate that before and during the pandemic, participation in both moderate- and high-intensity PA, as well as strength training, mitigated stress, depression, and suicidal ideation. Furthermore, the findings confirm the beneficial effects of various physical activities on mental well-being. Conclusions: These insights emphasize the vital role of regular PA in improving mental health among adolescents, particularly during a health crisis such as the pandemic.

RESUMO

Owing to the long-lived decay of triplet excited state, extensive efforts have been devoted to efficient triplet generation for applications covering triplet-triplet annihilation for photon upconversion, photocycloaddition and photoredox catalysis. Among the candidates, nanocrystal-molecule complexes have received tremendous attention for triplet generation because of easier spin flip and negligible energy loss during intersystem crossing. However, the triplet energy transfer (TET) from nanocrystals (NCs) to molecules can be very complicated in actual situation due to intricate energy level alignment and inevitable defect states, which often involves various decay pathes of the excited state competing with TET. Understanding the detailed carrier dynamics in such complexes is strongly necessary for related applications. Here, a CdSe-TCA (5-tetracene carboxylic acid) complex with a Type-II like energy level alignment is synthesized through precisely adjusting the dimension of CdSe NC. Based on series of spectral measurements, especially the transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy, the results show various carrier dynamics including hole-transfer-mediated TET, Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) and carrier trapping. Although the carrier trapping by defect states in CdSe NC is revealed not associated with the TET from CdSe to TCA, the FRET is proved to competing with the TET process. Both the FRET and defect states should be refrained for efficient TET in such complexes. This study could provide further insight for understanding the carrier dynamics competition in NC-molecule complexes for triplet generation and benefit related optoelectronics applications.

RESUMO

The design of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) that have high specific capacity and long-term stability is essential for future large-scale energy storage systems. Cathode materials with extended π-conjugation and abundant active sites are desirable to enhance the charge storage performance and the cycling stability of the aqueous ZIB. Based on this concept, 6,9-dihydropyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline-2,3,7,8(1H,4H)-tetrone was chosen as the monomer to be electropolymerized onto carbon cloth (PDHPQ-Tetrone/CC). When used as the cathode material for aqueous ZIBs, an exceptional cycling life (>20,000 cycles) at a current density of 10 A g-1 was achieved, with the specific capacity maintained at 82.8% and with the Coulombic efficiency at around 100% throughout cycling. At the charge-discharge current density of 0.1 A g-1, the ZIB with PDHPQ-Tetrone/CC achieved a high specific capacity of 248 mAh g-1. Kinetic analyses showed that both surface-capacitive-controlled processes and semi-infinite diffusion-controlled processes contribute to the stored charge. The charge storage mechanism was investigated with ex situ characterizations and involves the redox processes of carbonyl/hydroxyl and amino/imino groups coupled with insertion and extraction of both Zn2+ and H+.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: CircRNA-encoded proteins (CEPs) are emerging as new players in health and disease, and function as baits for the common partners of their cognate linear-spliced RNA encoded proteins (LEPs). However, their prevalence across human tissues and biological roles remain largely unexplored. The placenta is an ideal model for identifying CEPs due to its considerable protein diversity that is required to sustain fetal development during pregnancy. The aim of this study was to evaluate circRNA translation in the human placenta, and the potential roles of the CEPs in placental development and dysfunction. METHODS: Multiomics approaches, including RNA sequencing, ribosome profiling, and LC-MS/MS analysis, were utilised to identify novel translational events of circRNAs in human placentas. Bioinformatics methods and the protein bait hypothesis were employed to evaluate the roles of these newly discovered CEPs in placentation and associated disorders. The pathogenic role of a recently identified CEP circPRKCB119aa in preeclampsia was investigated through qRT-PCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence imaging and phenotypic analyses. RESULTS: We found that 528 placental circRNAs bound to ribosomes with active translational elongation, and 139 were translated to proteins. The CEPs showed considerable structural homology with their cognate LEPs, but are more stable, hydrophobic and have a lower molecular-weight than the latter, all of which are conducive to their function as baits. On this basis, CEPs are deduced to be closely involved in placental function. Furthermore, we focused on a novel CEP circPRKCB119aa, and illuminated its pathogenic role in preeclampsia; it enhanced trophoblast autophagy by acting as a bait to inhibit phosphorylation of the cognate linear isoform PKCß. CONCLUSIONS: We discovered a hidden circRNA-encoded proteome in the human placenta, which offers new insights into the mechanisms underlying placental development, as well as placental disorders such as preeclampsia. Key points A hidden circRNA-encoded proteome in the human placenta was extensively identified and systematically characterised. The circRNA-encoded proteins (CEPs) are potentially related to placental development and associated disorders. A novel conserved CEP circPRKCB119aa enhanced trophoblast autophagy by inhibiting phosphorylation of its cognate linear-spliced isoform protein kinase C (PKC) ß in preeclampsia.

RESUMO

Congenital vertebral malformation, affecting 0.13-0.50 per 1000 live births, has an immense locus heterogeneity and complex genetic architecture. In this study, we analyze exome/genome sequencing data from 873 probands with congenital vertebral malformation and 3794 control individuals. Clinical interpretation identifies Mendelian etiologies in 12.0% of the probands and reveals a muscle-related disease mechanism. Gene-based burden test of ultra-rare variants identifies risk genes with large effect sizes (ITPR2, TBX6, TPO, H6PD, and SEC24B). To further investigate the biological relevance of the genetic association signals, we perform single-nucleus RNAseq on human embryonic spines. The burden test signals are enriched in the notochord at early developmental stages and myoblast/myocytes at late stages, highlighting their critical roles in the developing spine. Our work provides insights into the developmental biology of the human spine and the pathogenesis of spine malformation.

RESUMO

Computational deconvolution with single-cell RNA sequencing data as reference is pivotal to interpreting spatial transcriptomics data, but the current methods are limited to cell-type resolution. Here we present Redeconve, an algorithm to deconvolute spatial transcriptomics data at single-cell resolution, enabling interpretation of spatial transcriptomics data with thousands of nuanced cell states. We benchmark Redeconve with the state-of-the-art algorithms on diverse spatial transcriptomics platforms and datasets and demonstrate the superiority of Redeconve in terms of accuracy, resolution, robustness, and speed. Application to a human pancreatic cancer dataset reveals cancer-clone-specific T cell infiltration, and application to lymph node samples identifies differential cytotoxic T cells between IgA+ and IgG+ spots, providing novel insights into tumor immunology and the regulatory mechanisms underlying antibody class switch.

RESUMO

Introduction: Leaf area index (LAI) is a critical physiological and biochemical parameter that profoundly affects vegetation growth. Accurately estimating the LAI for winter wheat during jointing stage is particularly important for monitoring wheat growth status and optimizing variable fertilization decisions. Recently, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) data and machine/depth learning methods are widely used in crop growth parameter estimation. In traditional methods, vegetation indices (VI) and texture are usually to estimate LAI. Plant Height (PH) unlike them, contains information about the vertical structure of plants, which should be consider. Methods: Taking Xixingdian Township, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, China as the research area in this paper, and four machine learning algorithms, namely, support vector machine(SVM), back propagation neural network (BPNN), random forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and two deep learning algorithms, namely, convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory neural network (LSTM), were applied to estimate LAI of winter wheat at jointing stage by integrating the spectral and texture features as well as the plant height information from UAV multispectral images. Initially, Digital Surface Model (DSM) and Digital Orthophoto Map (DOM) were generated. Subsequently, the PH, VI and texture features were extracted, and the texture indices (TI) was further constructed. The measured LAI on the ground were collected for the same period and calculated its Pearson correlation coefficient with PH, VI and TI to pick the feature variables with high correlation. The VI, TI, PH and fusion were considered as the independent features, and the sample set partitioning based on joint x-y distance (SPXY) method was used to divide the calibration set and validation set of samples. Results: The ability of different inputs and algorithms to estimate winter wheat LAI were evaluated. The results showed that (1) The addition of PH as a feature variable significantly improved the accuracy of the LAI estimation, indicating that wheat plant height played a vital role as a supplementary parameter for LAI inversion modeling based on traditional indices; (2) The combination of texture features, including normalized difference texture indices (NDTI), difference texture indices (DTI), and ratio texture indices (RTI), substantially improved the correlation between texture features and LAI; Furthermore, multi-feature combinations of VI, TI, and PH exhibited superior capability in estimating LAI for winter wheat; (3) Six regression algorithms have achieved high accuracy in estimating LAI, among which the XGBoost algorithm estimated winter wheat LAI with the highest overall accuracy and best results, achieving the highest R2 (R2 = 0.88), the lowest RMSE (RMSE=0.69), and an RPD greater than 2 (RPD=2.54). Discussion: This study provided compelling evidence that utilizing XGBoost and integrating spectral, texture, and plant height information extracted from UAV data can accurately monitor LAI during the jointing stage of winter wheat. The research results will provide a new perspective for accurate monitoring of crop parameters through remote sensing.

RESUMO

The revolution of self-management and organizational democracy is gaining momentum with the development of new technologies. How to stimulate high employee innovation behavior is critical to an organization's success. In this study, we built and verified a theoretical model to explore the effect of job control (JC) on employee innovative behavior (EIB), the mediating effect of creative self-efficacy (CSE), and the moderating effect of mindfulness (MF), based on the self-determination theory (SDT). For this quantitative study, a 31-item questionnaire was used to collect data from five Internet companies with 329 Chinese employees. AMOS 24.0 software was used to calculate CFA. SPSS26.0 software was used to calculate means, standard deviations, correlations, and regression analysis. The results indicate that a moderated mediation model among JC, CSE, EIB, and MF is supported. Further, JC was positively related to EIB via CSE. Moreover, MF moderated the relationship between JC and EIB and the mediating role of CSE.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Ballistic and heavy-resistance exercises may potentially enhance lower body power, which is paramount for the punching performance of amateur boxers. This study aimed to determine the acute effects of ballistic exercise (BE) and heavy-resistance exercise (HRE) on countermovement jump (CMJ) and rear-hand straight punch performance in amateur boxers. METHODS: Ten amateur boxers performed two conditioning exercises in a randomized and counterbalanced order as follows: squat jump with 4 sets × 8 repetitions at 30% one-repetition maximum (1RM) for BE and squat with 3 sets × 5 repetitions at 80% 1RM for HRE. The jump height (JH), relative maximal force (RMF), relative maximal power (RMP) of the CMJ, punch force (PF), and punch speed (PS) of a rear-hand straight punch were measured before and 3, 6, 9, and 12 min after either BE or HRE. RESULTS: No significant condition × time interaction was found for JH (p = 0.303), RMF (p = 0.875), RMP (p = 0.480), PF (p = 0.939), and PS (p = 0.939). In addition, no main effect of the condition for JH (p = 0.924), RMF (p = 0.750), RMP (p = 0.631), PF (p = 0.678), and PS (p = 0.712). A significant main effect of time was observed for PF (p = 0.001) and PS (p = 0.001), whereas JH (p = 0.081), RMF (p = 0.141), and RMP (p = 0.430) were not. Pairwise comparison identified that PF (p = 0.031) and PS (p = 0.005) significantly increased at 9 min compared with those at baseline. CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study demonstrated that BE and HRE protocols can potentiate the rear-hand straight punch performance at 9 min but bring less favorable improvements for JH, RMF, or RMP of CMJ.

RESUMO

To learn more about the impact of college sports services on student sports activity intentions, as well as the function of pleasure and involvement as a mediating factor in this process. According to the nature of the service, this study separates college sports services into basic and advanced sports two types, selects 482 students from five institutions in Hunan Province for a questionnaire survey based on spatial dimensions, and analyzes the data using a structural equation model. The findings show that (1) there is a positive correlation between college students' perception levels of basic and advanced sports services (p = 0.01); (2) perception of basic sports services is closely related to cognize involvement (r = 0.717), and perception of advanced sports services is closely related to affective involvement (r = 0.830); and (3) perception of basic sports services is closely related to cognize involvement (r = 0.717). (3) Satisfaction and involvement show a substantial mediation effect between sports service and sports behavioral intention, with involvement having a bigger influence on sports behavioral intention (effect percent = 52.63%) than satisfaction. (4) Advanced sports services are easier to improve students' behavioral intentions than basic sports services in a comparison of the two categories of college sports services. To summarize the findings of the four studies, it can be seen that ensuring the balanced development of basic and advanced sports services, adjusting service content to increase student involvement, and improving resource allocation to advanced sports service content are all effective ways to strengthen students' sports behavioral intention in the service strategy.

RESUMO

Aim: Sufficient strength and dynamic stability of the lower limbs are essential for improving punching force and preventing injury in amateur boxers. However, there are still no comprehensive reports on the isokinetic knee strength of boxers with different performance levels. The current study aimed to profile the isokinetic muscle strength of flexion and extension of the knee in boxers, as well as bilateral, unilateral, and functional ratios, and investigate the variation in these muscle strength characteristics associated with different performance levels. Methods: Boxers were divided in two performance groups, elite (five males and four females) and non-elite groups (five males and four females). Muscle strength of the knee was determined via an IsoMed2000 device. Parameters examined included peak torque of the hamstring (H) and quadriceps (Q) during concentric (con) and eccentric (ecc) contractions at low (60°/S), medium (180°/S), and high (240°/S) speed and bilateral ratios (BLs), unilateral ratios (ULs), and functional ratios of dominant (D) and non-dominant limbs. Results: In all angular velocities, the peak torque of H and Q was stronger in the elite group than in the non-elite group. ULs were lower in the elite group than in the non-elite group in Hcon/Qcon at 180D (p < 0.01) and 180ND (p < 0.05) and in Hecc/Qecc at 60D, 180D (p < 0.05) and 240D (p < 0.01). The elite group had higher BLs than the non-elite group in Hcon at 60°/S (p < 0.05) and Qcon at 180°/S (p < 0.05). The non-elite group had a higher functional ratio than elite boxers in Hecc/Qcon at 180D and 240D (p < 0.01). Conclusion: Elite boxers had stronger knee strength in con and ecc contractions. All boxers had normal Hecc/Qecc and Hcon/Qecc. Hcon/Qcon and Hecc/Qcon were abnormal at lower angular velocity. Elite boxers had higher BLs and lower ULs, indicating that they are at a higher risk of injury.

RESUMO

The Co3O4 nanoparticle-modified indium tin oxide-coated glass slide (ITO) electrodes are successfully prepared using dicarboxylic acid as the self-assembled monolayer through a surface esterification reaction. The ITO-SAM-Co3O4 (SAM = dicarboxylic acid) are active to electrochemically catalyze oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in acid. The most active assembly, with Co loading at 3.31 × 10-8 mol cm-2, exhibits 374 mV onset overpotential and 497 mV overpotential to reach 1 mA cm-2 OER current in 0.1 M HClO4. The electron transfer rate constant (k) is acquired using Laviron's approach, and the results show that k is not affected by the carbon chain lengths of the SAM (up to 18 -CH2 groups) and that an increase in the average diameter of Co3O4 nanoparticles enhances the k. In addition, shorter carbon chains and smaller Co3O4 nanoparticles can increase the turn-over frequency (TOF) of Co sites toward OER. The Co3O4 nanoparticles tethered to the ITO surface show both a higher number of electrochemically active Co sites and a higher TOF of OER than the Co3O4 nanoparticles bound to ITO using Nafion.

RESUMO

The preference for social novelty is crucial to the social life of humans and rodents. However, the neural mechanisms underlying social novelty preference are poorly understood. Here, we found that chronic social defeat stress (CSDS) reduced the preference for social novelty in mice by impairing the response of CaMKIIα+ neurons in the CA3 region of dorsal hippocampus (dCA3) during approach to an unfamiliar mouse. The deficits of social novelty preference in CSDS-treated mice were reversed by activating the output from dCA3 to the GABAergic neurons in the lateral septum (LS). The activation of GABAergic projection from LS recruited a circuit that inhibited the Foxb1+ neurons in the parvafox nucleus (PFN), which drove social avoidance by projecting to the lateral periaqueductal gray (lPAG). These results suggest that a previously unidentified circuit of dCA3CaMKIIα+→LSGABA+→PFNFoxb1+→lPAG mediates the deficits of social novelty preference induced by CSDS.

RESUMO

The ecosystem services cascade (ESC), which connects the components of ecosystem services with social value and builds a bridge between natural science and social science, can help decision-makers better integrate the concept of ecosystem services into decision-making. We reviewed the concept and the research progress of ESC. From the perspective of theory, the theoretical research of ESC mainly focused on how to accurately define each component and the causal relationship among different components, improve the practicability and applicability of ESC model, and how to effectively connect stakeholders and ecosystem service structure. From the perspective of application, ESC played an important role in ecosystem services mapping, ecosystem services assessment, and policy making. There were still great uncertainties in index selection and mutual feedback mechanism. Future research should be strengthened from the following aspects: to pay more attention to the structure process and classification standard of ecosystem services, to make up the lack of ESC of the feedback mechanism through multi-model fusion and regional survey, and to provide scientific guidance for human-earth coupling and sustainable development combined with regional characteristics .

RESUMO

Fine particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters less than 2.5 µm (PM2.5) poses adverse impacts on public health and the environment. It is still a great challenge to estimate high-resolution PM2.5 concentrations at moderate scales. The current study calibrated PM2.5 concentrations at a 1 km resolution scale using ground-level monitoring data, Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD), meteorological data, and auxiliary data via Random Forest (RF) model across China in 2017. The three ten-folded cross-validations (CV) methods including sample-based, time-based, and spatial-based validation combined with Coefficient Square (R2), Root-Mean-Square Error (RMSE), and Mean Predictive Error (MPE) have been used for validation at different temporal scales in terms of daily, monthly, heating seasonal, and non-heating seasonal. Finally, the distribution map of PM2.5 concentrations was illustrated based on the RF model. Some findings were achieved. The RF model performed well, with a relatively high sample-based cross-validation R2 of 0.74, a low RMSE of 16.29 µg × m-3, and a small MPE of -0.282 µg × m-3. Meanwhile, the performance of the RF model in inferring the PM2.5 concentrations was well at urban scales except for Chengyu (CY). North China, the CY urban agglomeration, and the northwest of China exhibited relatively high PM2.5 pollution features, especially in the heating season. The robustness of the RF model in the present study outperformed most statistical regression models for calibrating PM2.5 concentrations. The outcomes can supply an up-to-date scientific dataset for epidemiological and air pollutants exposure risk studies across China.
