Two-dimensional (2D) MBenes have enormous potential in energy applications. Vanadium metal, with its versatile and tunable electronic states, can further enhance the electrochemical performance of MBenes. However, most MBenes are composed of a few atomic layers as the metal boron (MB) block, e.g., M2B2, which might lead to instability and poor mechanical response. Herein, we designed and predicted 2D V4B6 associated with different terminations (T = Cl, O, S) using a top-down method and global search for parental V4AB6. Among the A element candidates, the P-glued MAB phase exhibited high stability and easy synthesizability. Moreover, 2D V4B6 was feasibly formed and easily exfoliated owing to its weak V-P bonding. Most of the surface functionalization could improve both the mechanical and electrochemical properties of the V4B6 monolayer. In particular, 2D V4B6S2 exhibited a high potential as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with high theoretical capacity (297 mA h g-1), low diffusion barrier (0.166 eV), and low open circuit voltage (0.136 V), outperforming a majority of MXenes and transition metal sulfide layers. This work offers a new strategy for designing desirable 2D layers from parental materials, and tuning their properties via composition and surface functionalization, which could shed light on the development of other 2D metal-ion anodes.

Importance: Ovarian torsion is a gynecological emergency caused by the twisting of the ovary and/or fallopian tube, further resulting in ischemic changes of the adnexa. Early diagnosis is likely to preserve ovarian function. Objective: The purpose of this review is to review the current findings of ovarian torsion including clinical presentations, diagnostic criteria, surgical procedures, and prognosis. Evidence Acquisition: The literature search is mainly available in PubMed and Web of Science platforms by searching "ovarian torsion" combined with one or several terms including "diagnosis" "risk factors" "surgery" and "torsion recurrence." Results: Abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting were normal clinical presentations. In order to increase the accuracy of diagnosis, it is necessary to integrate clinical presentation and the findings of imaging and laboratory examinations. Computed tomography findings, plasma d-dimer level, and the time from pain onset play a critical role in distinguishing ovarian necrosis. The efficiency of oophoropexy on preventing recurrent ovarian torsion is controversial. Conclusion: Most patients with early diagnosis of ovarian torsion may have a better prognosis with conservative surgery. Relevance: Better understanding of ovarian torsion is critical for gynecologists to promote accuracy of diagnosis and select the optimal surgical procedure.

Peanut protein isolate (PPI) has high nutritional value, but its poor function limits its application in the food industry. In this study, peanut protein isolate was modified by enzymatic hydrolysis combined with glycation. The structure, emulsification and interface properties of peanut protein isolate hydrolysate (HPPI) and dextran (Dex) conjugate (HPPI-Dex) were studied. In addition, the physicochemical properties, rheological properties, and stability of the emulsion were also investigated. The results showed that the graft degree increased with the increase of Dex ratio. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed that the glycation of HPPI and Dex occurred. The microstructure showed that the structure of HPPI-Dex was expanded, and the molecular flexibility was enhanced. When the ratio of HPPI to Dex was 1:3, the emulsifying activity and the interface pressure of glycated HPPI reached the highest value, and the emulsifying activity (61.08 m2/g) of HPPI-Dex was 5.28 times that of PPI. The HPPI-Dex stabilized emulsions had good physicochemical properties and rheological properties. In addition, HPPI-Dex stabilized emulsions had high stability under heat treatment, salt ion treatment and freeze-thaw cycle. According to confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), the dispersion of HPPI-Dex stabilized emulsions was better after 28 days of storage. This study provides a theoretical basis for developing peanut protein emulsifier and further expanding the application of peanut protein in food industry.
