RESUMO

The article deals with 14 taxa of the Thyatirinae moths, the types of most of which are kept in the collection of the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg). It is shown that the designation of lectotypes/holotypes of Thyatira hedemanni Christoph, 1885, Asphalia nigrofascicula Graeser, 1888, and Cymatophora or var. terrosa Graeser, 1888, by Laszlo al. (2007) on the basis of specimens preserved in the collections of Berlin and London Museums was based on non-syntypic specimens, and that their designation as lectotypes needs to be corrected. Correct lectotypes are designated here for the taxa listed above as well for Gonophora dieckmanni Graeser, 1888, and Thyatira moellendorfi Fixsen, 1887; a lectotype of Cymatophora octogesima var. caucasica Krulikowsky, 1901, is designated from the collection of Kiev University.                The following type localities are thereby fixed: Lagodekhi [Georgia] for Thyatira hedemanni Christoph, 1885, Pung Tung [Central Korea] for Thyatira moellendorfi Fixsen, 1887 and for Thyatira violacea Fixsen, 1887, Nikolaevsk-na-Amure [Far East of Russia] for Cymatophora or var. terrosa Graeser, 1888.

RESUMO

Types of two species of monkey moths (Eupterotidae, Lepidoptera) described by Johan Christian Fabricius were located and are here figured for the first time, and lectotypes are designated for both species. The lectotype of Bombyx hibisci Fabricius 1775 is a male from the Hunterian Museum (Glasgow). The lectotype of Bombyx orientalis Fabricius 1793, originally listed from "Dom. Lund" was found in the Zoological Museum-University of Copenhagen (as temporarily loan from the Zoological Museum of Kiel University) with an old incorrect identification label. Both species are members of the genus Eupterote Hübner, 1820 (so-called Brachytera-lineage).                The following new synonymy can thus be established: Eupterote orientalis (Fabricius, 1793), comb. nov. (= Dreata geminata Walker 1855, syn. nov., syn. corr.; = Eupterote geminata var. hebes Grünberg 1914, syn. nov.; = Dreata anada Moore 1860, syn. nov., = Brachytera phalaenaria C. R. Felder, 1874, syn. nov., = Eupterote auriflua Moore, 1884, syn. nov.).          The type locality for orientalis originally given as "India orientali" is likely to be Sri Lanka.          The related taxon, Eupterote gardneri Bryk, 1950, stat. nov. is established as valid species (bona species) with the a new synonym, Eupterote bifasciata Kishida, 1994, syn. nov.          Eupterote primularis Moore, 1884 is considered a distinct species native to Central and Southern India.

RESUMO

This paper deals with the revision of the Arctiidae genera Lithosia Fabricius, 1798 and Conilepia Hampson, 1900. Only two species currently are considered to be members of Lithosia, Lithosia quadra Linnaeus, 1758, and Lithosia yuennanensis Daniel, 1952. It is here proposed to consider the Far-Eastern populations of L. quadra as subspecies Lithosia quadra dives Butler, 1877, stat. rev. and the Transcaspian populations of the species are described here as Lithosia quadra ssp. soligena ssp. nov. The lectotype of Phalaena Noctua deplana Linnaeus, 1771, preserved in the Hunterian Museum of London, is designated. Two species, Lithosia subcosteola Druce, 1899 and Lithosia gynaegrapha de Joannis, 1930, are excluded from Lithosia. The rare and local Lithosia quadra sikkima Strand, 1922 is raised to species rank and transferred to Conilepia, comb. et stat. nov. The male of C. sikkima is described for the first time. Three species are considered to belong to the genus Conilepia, among them Conilepia cao sp. nov., which is described from Vietnam. All taxa are described and figured. A scenario for the faunogenesis of the Lithosia-Conilepia complex is proposed using molecular data.
