RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Poor development of young children is a common issue in developing countries and it is well established that iron deficiency anemia is one of the risk factors. Research has shown that iron deficiency is a common micronutrient deficiency among children in rural China and can result in anemia. A previous paper using data from the same trial as those used in the current study, but conducted when sample children were younger, found that after 6 months of providing caregivers of children 6-11 months of age free access to iron-rich micronutrient powder (MNP) increased the hemoglobin concentrations (Hb) of their children. However, no effects were found 12 and 18 months after the intervention. The current study followed up the children four years after the start of the original intervention (when the children were 4-5 years old) and aims to assess the medium-term impacts of the MNP program on the nutritional status of the sample pre-school-aged children, including their levels of Hb, the prevalence of anemia, and the dietary diversity of the diets of the children. METHODS: At baseline, this study sampled 1,802 children aged 6-11 months in rural Western China. The intervention lasted 18 months. In this medium-term follow-up study that successfully followed 81% (n = 1,464) of children (aged 49-65 months) from the original study population 4 years after the start of the intervention, we used both intention-to-treat (ITT) effect and average treatment on the treated effect (ATT) analyses to assess the medium-term impacts of the MNP distribution program on the nutritional status of sample children. RESULTS: The ITT analysis shows that the MNP intervention decreased the prevalence of anemia of young children in the medium run by 8% (4 percentage points, p < 0.1). The ATT analysis shows that consuming 100 (out of 540) MNP sachets during the initial intervention led to a decrease in anemia of 4% (2 percentage points, p < 0.1). Among children with moderate anemia at baseline (Hb < 100 g/L), the intervention reduced the probability of anemia by 45% (9 percentage points, p < 0.1), and, for those families that complied by consuming 100 (out of 540) sachets, a 25% (5 percentage points, p < 0.05) reduction in the anemia rate was found. The MNP intervention also led to a persistent increase in dietary diversity among children that were moderately anemic at baseline. The results from the quantile treatment effect analysis demonstrated that children with lower Hb levels at baseline benefited relatively more from the MNP intervention. CONCLUSIONS: The findings of the current study reveal that the MNP intervention has medium-term effects on the nutritional status of children in rural China. The impacts of the MNP program were relatively higher for children that initially had more severe anemia levels. Hence, the implications of this study are that programs that aim to increase caregiver knowledge of nutrition and improve their feeding practices should be encouraged across rural China. Families, policymakers, and China's society overall need to continue to pay more attention to problems of childhood anemia in rural areas. This is particularly crucial for families with moderately anemic children at an early age as it can significantly contribute to improving the anemia status of children across rural areas of China. RESUMO

The angle of repose-i.e., the angle [Formula: see text] between the sloping side of a heap of particles and the horizontal-provides one of the most important observables characterizing the packing and flowability of a granular material. However, this angle is determined by still poorly understood particle-scale processes, as the interactions between particles in the heap cause resistance to roll and slide under the action of gravity. A theoretical expression that predicts [Formula: see text] as a function of particle size and gravity would have impact in the engineering, environmental, and planetary sciences. Here we present such an expression, which we have derived from particle-based numerical simulations that account for both sliding and rolling resistance, as well as for nonbonded attractive particle-particle interactions (van der Waals). Our expression is simple and reproduces the angle of repose of experimental conical heaps as a function of particle size, as well as [Formula: see text] obtained from our simulations with gravity from 0.06 to 100 times that of Earth. Furthermore, we find that heaps undergo a transition from conical to irregular shape when the cohesive to gravitational force ratio exceeds a critical value, thus providing a proxy for particle-scale interactions from heap morphology.

RESUMO

This study aims to investigate the in vitro effects of nanoparticles (NPs) produced during the selective laser melting (SLM) of 316 L stainless steel metal powder on the immune response in a human blood model. Experimental data did not reveal effect on viability of 316 L NPs for the tested doses. Functional immune assays showed a significant immunosuppressive effect of NPs. There was moderate stimulation (117%) of monocyte phagocytic activity without significant changes in phagocytic activity and respiratory burst of granulocytes. A significant dose-dependent increase in the levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokine TNF-a was found in blood cultures treated with NPs. On the contrary, IL-8 chemokine levels were significantly suppressed. The levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-6 were reduced by only a single concentration of NPs. These new findings can minimise potential health risks and indicate the need for more research in this area.

RESUMO

Recently, explainability in machine and deep learning has become an important area in the field of research as well as interest, both due to the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) methods and understanding of the decisions made by models. The explainability of artificial intelligence (XAI) is due to the increasing consciousness in, among other things, data mining, error elimination, and learning performance by various AI algorithms. Moreover, XAI will allow the decisions made by models in problems to be more transparent as well as effective. In this study, models from the 'glass box' group of Decision Tree, among others, and the 'black box' group of Random Forest, among others, were proposed to understand the identification of selected types of currant powders. The learning process of these models was carried out to determine accuracy indicators such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. It was visualized using Local Interpretable Model Agnostic Explanations (LIMEs) to predict the effectiveness of identifying specific types of blackcurrant powders based on texture descriptors such as entropy, contrast, correlation, dissimilarity, and homogeneity. Bagging (Bagging_100), Decision Tree (DT0), and Random Forest (RF7_gini) proved to be the most effective models in the framework of currant powder interpretability. The measures of classifier performance in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score for Bagging_100, respectively, reached values of approximately 0.979. In comparison, DT0 reached values of 0.968, 0.972, 0.968, and 0.969, and RF7_gini reached values of 0.963, 0.964, 0.963, and 0.963. These models achieved classifier performance measures of greater than 96%. In the future, XAI using agnostic models can be an additional important tool to help analyze data, including food products, even online.

RESUMO

AIM: This study aimed to observe the efficacy and outcomes of the combined application of artificial bone powder and concentrated growth factor (CGF) membranes for tooth transplantation in cases with wide recipient sockets and small donor teeth. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 36 teeth from 36 patients with wide recipient sockets and small donor teeth were enrolled. Autogenous tooth transplantation was performed using bone powders and CGF membranes. After transplantation, the visual analog scale (VAS) score, Landry Wound Healing Index, probing depth (PD), mobility, and gray value of the alveolar bone around the transplanted teeth were measured, and a patient satisfaction questionnaire was administered. All patients underwent clinical and radiographic examinations during follow-up. RESULTS: The VAS score of 16 (44.4%) cases after 1 week was 0, and 26 (72.2%) patients showed excellent gingival healing after 2-4 weeks. The PD of a few cases was deeper than 3 mm during the first month; however, returned to normal after 3 months. Although the majority of the transplanted teeth possessed mobility greater than grade I during the first month, the mobility gradually improved within 3 months. The gray value of the alveolar bone around the transplanted teeth, 1 year postoperatively showed no difference with pre-operation (p > .05). During the mean follow-up period of 42.7 months (range 20-72 months), 33 of the 36 transplanted teeth remained in situ without clinical or radiographic complications, with an overall success rate of 91.7%. CONCLUSIONS: Although the PD and mobility of the transplanted teeth were not ideal during the early stages of healing, most of the transplanted teeth had good clinical outcomes. In cases with large recipient sites accompanied by small donor teeth, autotransplantation of teeth using artificial bone powder combined with CGF membranes is a viable option and can lead to optimistic results with favorable success rates.

RESUMO

The primary goal of this study was to generate different kinds of functional products based on carrots that were supplemented with lactic acid bacteria. The fact that carrots (Daucus carota sp.) rank among the most popular vegetables in our country led to the convergence of the research aim. Their abundance of bioactive compounds, primarily polyphenols, flavonoids, and carotenoids, offers numerous health benefits. Among the obtained products, the freeze-dried carrot powder (FDCP) variation presented the highest concentrations of total carotenoids (TCs) and ß-carotene (BC) of 26.977 ± 0.13 mg/g DW and 22.075 ± 0.14 mg/g DW, respectively. The amount of total carotenoids and ß-carotene significantly increased with the addition of the selected lactic acid bacteria (LAB) for most of the samples. In addition, a slight increase in the antioxidant activity compared with the control sample for the FDCP variant, with the highest value of 91.74%, was observed in these functional food products. The content of polyphenolic compounds varied from 0.044 to 0.091 mg/g DW, while the content of total flavonoids varied from 0.03 to 0.66 mg/g DW. The processing method had an impact on the population of L. plantarum that survived, as indicated by the viability of bacterial cells in all the analyzed products. The chromatographic analysis through UHPLC-MS/MS further confirmed the abundance of the bioactive compounds and their corresponding derivatives by revealing 19 different compounds. The digestibility study indicated that carotenoid compounds from carrots followed a rather controlled release. The carrot-based products enriched with Lactobacillus plantarum can be considered newly functional developed products based on their high content of biologically active compounds with beneficial effects upon the human body. Furthermore, these types of products could represent innovative products for every related industry such as the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmeceutical industries, thus converging a new strategy to improve the health of consumers or patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Anemia and iron deficiency have been associated with poor child cognitive development. A key rationale for the prevention of anemia using supplementation with iron has been the benefits to neurodevelopment. However, little causal evidence exists for these gains. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to examine effects of supplementation with iron or multiple micronutrient powders (MNPs) on brain activity measures using resting electroencephalography (EEG). METHODS: Children included in this neurocognitive substudy were randomly selected from the Benefits and Risks of Iron Supplementation in Children study, a double-blind, double-dummy, individually randomized, parallel-group trial in Bangladesh, in which children, starting at 8 mo of age, received 3 mo of daily iron syrup, MNPs, or placebo. Resting brain activity was recorded using EEG immediately after intervention (month 3) and after a further 9-month follow-up (month 12). We derived EEG band power measures for delta, theta, alpha, and beta frequency bands. Linear regression models were used to compare the effect of each intervention with that of placebo on the outcomes. RESULTS: Data from 412 children at month 3 and 374 at month 12 were analyzed. At baseline, 43.9% were anemic and 26.7% were iron deficient. Immediately after intervention, iron syrup, but not MNPs, increased the mu alpha-band power, a measure that is associated with maturity and the production of motor actions (iron vs. placebo: mean difference = 0.30; 95% CI: 0.11, 0.50 µV2; P = 0.003; false discovery rate adjusted P = 0.015). Despite effects on hemoglobin and iron status, effects were not observed on the posterior alpha, beta, delta, and theta bands, nor were effects sustained at the 9-month follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: The effect size for immediate effects on the mu alpha-band power is comparable in magnitude with psychosocial stimulation interventions and poverty reduction strategies. However, overall, we did not find evidence for long-lasting changes in resting EEG power spectra from iron interventions in young Bangladeshi children. RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Powder hemostats are valuable adjuncts to minimize intraoperative and postoperative complications. In addition to promotion of rapid coagulation, resorption, and biocompatibility are desirable attributes. Plant starch-based polysaccharide hemostat powders are effective and widely used hemostatic agents, however their source and/or processing can affect characteristics such as in vivo degradability. For example, Arista is a purified/hydrolyzed starch powder that is rapidly resorbed in vivo; whereas PerClot shows slow resorption and preservation of a crystalline form. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In the present study, we compared the cellular response to the hemostatic agents PerClot and Arista both in vitro and in vivo, and used potato starch and urinary bladder extracellular matrix (UBM-ECM) as high crystallinity/slowly resorbable and prohealing controls, respectively. RESULTS: All test articles and their degradation products were cytocompatible in vitro as measured by cell viability and metabolic activity of bone-marrow macrophages. PerClot induced a stronger proinflammatory, M1-like macrophage response in vitro (P < 0.001) than Arista, likely due to differences in source composition. Histologic examination of the in vivo surgical site showed the almost complete degradation of Arista after 12 h (day 0), whereas both PerClot and potato starch were still present at 28 d with crystals identifiable with polarized light microscopy and periodic acid Schiff (PAS) staining. Macrophage phenotype in vivo showed no differences between PerClot and Arista. Collagen deposition and mononuclear cell accumulation consistent with an early foreign body response were present around PerClot and potato starch crystals, whereas no such cell or connective tissue deposition was noted at the site of Arista or UBM-ECM placement.

RESUMO

Water containing low amounts of cellulose nanofiber (CNF) is widely used as a thickening agent owing to its three unique properties: high transparency, viscosity, and controllable viscosity based on the shear rate. CNF dry powders are used to reduce the transportation and storage costs or expand applications as a thickening agent. Herein, the preparation of CNF dry powders that can be used to obtain redispersions while maintaining the aforementioned properties is reported. In this regard, the dehydration and vaporization procedures for a CNF water dispersion without using additives are discussed. When dry powders are prepared by removing water by boiling, their redispersions do not exhibit all their unique properties because of dense aggregations. However, when their redispersions are vigorously stirred to break the dense aggregations, they become transparent, although they do not recover their initial viscosity. Freeze-dried powders recover all their initial properties after redispersion. Nevertheless, their large volume does not reduce the transportation and storage costs. When the liquid is evaporated from the solvent-exchanged CNF organogels, their redispersions also fully recover all their properties. Furthermore, the evaporative dry powders with dense small volumes and good handling contribute to reducing the transportation and storage costs.

RESUMO

Anti-inflammatory effect of Rosa canina, Salix alba, Scrophularia nodosa and Hedera helix were studied in LPS-stimulated primary peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from mice (n=18) by comparing homogeneous powders of small microparticles (50-100 µm, 100-180 µm and 180-315 µm) obtained from plants via a controlled differential sieving process (CDSp) versus total plant materials obtained via hydroethanolic (HE) extraction. Further, phytochemical composition of the fine powders and HE extracts was determined by LC-PDA-ESI/MS analyses. Results showed that a one-hour pretreatment of PBMCs with fine powders, particularly those with superfine particle sizes (i.e. 50-100 µm and 100-180 µm), significantly inhibited TNFα, IL-1ß, IL-6 and NO production in LPS-stimulated PBMCs, by at least ca. 20% more than HE extracts (all, p<0.05). For each of the plants studied, their superfine powdered fractions were more concentrated in phenolic contents than their HE extracts. Overall, our results further confirm CDSp, as an environmentally friendly method, for improving the concentration of bioactive compounds as well as their biological activities.

RESUMO

A novel technique using a W-band metasurface for the purpose of transmissive fine powder layer sensing is presented. The proposed technique may allow for the detection, identification, and characterization of inhomogeneous ultrafine powder layers which are effectively hundreds of times thinner than the incident wavelengths used to sense them. Such a technique may be useful during personnel screening processes (i.e., at an airport) and in industrial manufacturing environments where early detection and quantization of harmful airborne particulates can be a matter of security or safety. The proposed sensing technique was experimentally and theoretically tested. The results suggest that, using this technique, one may identify, extract the effective complex dielectric properties, and measure the layer thicknesses of ultrafine powder layers present on a metasurface. Using this technique, it may be possible to identify and characterize diverse media in various physical, chemical, and biological metasurface sensing efforts at numerous bands of the electromagnetic spectrum.

RESUMO

The moisture of bulk material has a significant impact on the energetic efficiency of dry grinding, resultant particle size distribution and particle shape, and conditions of powder transport. This research aims to develop computer vision and thermovision techniques for the on-site estimation of moisture content in copper ore, for use, e.g., in dry grinding installations. The influence of particle size on the results of moisture estimation is also studied. The tested granular material was copper ore of particle size 0-2 mm and relative moisture content of 0.5-11%. Both vision and thermovision images were taken at standard and macro scales. The results suggest that median-intensity vision images monotonically reflect copper ore moisture in the range of about 0.5-5%. Suitable models were identified and cross-validated here. In contrary, thermograms should not be analyzed simply for their mean temperature but treated with computer vision processing algorithms.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the applicability of a novel micro-dosing system for precisely filling low powder doses (down to a few mg) into capsules along with weighing the filled powder mass accurately. METHODS: Ten commonly used pharmaceutical powders, ranging from cohesive to free-flowing, were selected and filled at three target fill weights (0.5, 1, and 10 mg), to investigate the effect of distinct powder properties on the filling performance. The fill weight and variability, filling speed and yield (% and number of conforming capsules out of all capsules collected), as well as the system's long-term performance were assessed. RESULTS: The filling accuracy was found to be good for all investigated powders. In particular, the results demonstrate that the tested powders, including the challenging cohesive ones, could be dosed at standard deviations within 0.23 mg at a 10 mg target weight, within 0.07 mg at a 1 mg target weight, and within 0.05 mg at a 0.5 mg target weight. In all cases, free-flowing powders showed lower standard deviations. Intermediate and cohesive powders had slightly higher standard deviations but were still within an acceptable range. CONCLUSION: The study shows the suitability of the tested micro-dosing system for filling low powder doses into capsules, which is of particular importance for dosing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) directly in capsules, i.e. an API-in-capsule (AIC) approach for clinical trials (often in conjunction with highly potent APIs), and for low-dose powder filling for inhalation applications.

RESUMO

Swiss chard (Beta vulgaris L.) and chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) contain biologically active compounds with proven health benefits. Durum wheat noodle-shaped pasta enriched with dried and powder leaves of chard or chicory, at two different levels of supplementation (3%, 6%) was prepared on a laboratory scale. The content of polyphenols, pigments, carotenoids, in vitro inhibition of digestive enzymes and the predicted glycaemic response of the fortified pasta were evaluated. All formulations showed in vitro enzyme inhibition of amylase, glucosidase, and lipase and a low pGI <43. The lowest predicted glycaemic index (pGI = 34 ± 1.1) was found for pasta enriched with 3% beet powder. The incorporation of Beta vulgaris and Cichorium intybus leaf powders improved the nutritional properties of the pasta and also imparted an attractive natural colour to the products.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Titanium dioxide powders are contained in a large class of colour cosmetics and sunscreen formulas. When they are used, the formation of a uniform functional powder layer on the skin is an important factor to show their functionality, such as aesthetic and UV protection. Attempts were made to extract the factors that affect the UV shielding ability of the deposited powder layer. METHODS: Seven kinds of surface treatments were conducted on nano-sized titanium dioxide powder to modify the surface characteristics. Dispersion samples were prepared by mixing these powders with liquids, such as mixed solutions of cyclopentasiloxane, isododecane, coconuts alkane and dimethicone using a disperser and a bead mill. The dispersions were applied using an applicator on cellulose triacetate film, polycarbonate film and polymethyl pentene film. Laser microscope observation and micro-gloss glossmeter analysis were carried out to assess the flatness of the deposited powder layers, and the UV shielding ability was evaluated using SPF analyser. RESULTS: Factors whose influences on the structure and UV shielding ability of the deposited powder layer being analysed were pseudo-HLB of the powders, liquids for preparing the dispersions and material of the substrates. Higher UV shielding ability was attained when powders having pseudo-HLB at around 6 were employed independent from the kinds of liquids and substrates. Flatness of the deposited layer was found to enhance the UV shielding ability of the UV-B region, while that of the UV-A region was scarcely influenced by the flatness. Employing lower surface tension liquids for preparing the dispersions and materials exhibiting lower polar components of surface free energy as substrates tended to enhance the UV shielding ability. CONCLUSION: Surface treatments conducted on the powders in this study were found to change UV shielding ability, especially UV-B shielding ability, and the relation between pseudo-HLB and UV shielding ability was scarcely influenced by the kinds of liquids. Both surface tension of liquids and the polar component of surface free energy of substrates affected the UV shielding ability. It was suggested that pseudo-HLB calculated based on chemical structure becomes useful information to choose optimum surface treatment to make uniform powder alignment independent from the surrounding environment.

Interventions distributing micronutrient powders (MNPs) and small-quantity lipid-based nutrient supplements (SQ-LNS), or home fortification products (HFPs), have the potential to improve infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices and children's nutrition. We systematically searched for studies on the effect of interventions distributing HFP on IYCF practices. We identified 12 (8 MNP, 4 SQ-LNS) studies: seven programmes with IYCF behaviour change communications (BCC) and MNP (IYCF-MNP) and one provided MNP without IYCF BCC (MNP only). Three SQ-LNS studies came from randomised trials without an IYCF component (SQ-LNS only) and one from a programme with both IYCF BCC and SfQ-LNS (IYCF-SQ-LNS). Five IYCF-MNP programmes reported positive associations with some IYCF practices-four with minimum dietary diversity, two with minimum meal frequency, four with minimum acceptable diet, and three with the initiation of complementary foods at 6 months. Two reported no association between MNP and IYCF indicators, and one reported a decline in IYCF practices during the intervention, although it also reported significant changes to the IYCF programme during the evaluation period. Two studies from interventions that distributed SQ-LNS (one from a related set of randomised controlled trials and the sole IYCF-SQ-LNS programme) reported a positive association with IYCF practices; one trial reported no change in breast milk intake with the provision of SQ-LNS and one found no association with IYCF practices. SQ-LNS and MNP can address nutrient gaps for young children in low-resource settings; our findings indicate that programmes that combine HFP with IYCF interventions may also contribute to improved IYCF practices in some settings.

RESUMO

Hemostatic powder (HP) is a relatively recent addition to the arsenal of hemostatic endoscopic procedures (HEPs) for gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) due to benign and malignant lesions. Five types of HP are currently available: TC-325 (Hemospray™), EndoClot™, Ankaferd Blood Stopper®, and, more recently, UI-EWD (NexpowderTM) and CEGP-003 (CGBio™). HP acts as a mechanical barrier and/or promotes platelet activation and coagulation cascade. HP may be used in combination with or as rescue therapy in case of failure of conventional HEPs (CHEPs) and also as monotherapy in large, poorly accessible lesions with multiple bleeding sources. Although the literature on HP is abundant, randomized controlled trials are scant, and some questions remain open. While HP is highly effective in inducing immediate hemostasis in GIB, the rates of rebleeding reported in different studies are very variable, and conditions affecting the stability of hemostasis have not yet been fully elucidated. It is not established whether HP as monotherapy is appropriate in severe GIB, such as spurting peptic ulcers, or should be used only as rescue or adjunctive therapy. Finally, as it can be sprayed on large areas, HP could become the gold standard in malignancy-related GIB, which is often nonresponsive or not amenable to treatment with CHEPs as a result of multiple bleeding points and friable surfaces. This is a narrative review that provides an overview of currently available data and the open questions regarding the use of HP in the management of non-variceal upper GIB due to benign and malignant diseases.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the status quo and influencing factors of feeding behaviors of micronutrient powders (MNP), or yingyangbao in Pinyin, the Chinese Romanization system, of baby caregivers in remote rural areas of Sichuan Province. Methods: In 2019, caregivers of babies aged 6 to 24 months from 6 counties of Sichuan Province were selected as the respondents of the survey through a multistage cluster random sampling method. Data concerning the baby caregivers' attitude of behavior, subjective norms, behavioral intention, and feeding behaviors about MNP feeding were collected with a questionnaire through a structured interview. Based on the theory of reasoned action, a structural equation model was constructed to explore the influencing factors of feeding behaviors. Results: A total of 1002 valid samples were included in the study. The effective feeding rate of MNP among the baby caregivers was 55.49%. The results of model analysis suggested that attitude of behavior ( ß direct=0.212, 95% CI: 0.105-0.327), subjective norm ( ß direct=0.123, 95% CI: 0.016-0.228), and behavioral intention ( ß direct=0.162, 95% CI: 0.093-0.224) could have a significant direct impact on MNP feeding behaviors. Behavior attitude ( ß indirect=0.044, 95% CI: 0.023-0.073) and subjective norms ( ß indirect=0.018, 95% CI: 0.001-0.040) could have a significant indirect impact on MNP feeding behaviors through the intermediary of behavioral intention. Among the three theoretical elements, attitude of behavior had the largest total effect on the feeding behavior ( ß total=0.256, 95% CI: 0.148-0.366). Conclusion: The effective feeding rate of MNP among baby caregivers in remote rural areas of Sichuan Province is low. The attitude of behavior and subjective norms of caregivers may have a direct impact on their feeding behavior, and both attitude of behavior and subjective norms can have an indirect impact on the feeding behavior through the intermediary of behavioral intention. The influence of attitude of behavior attitude on feeding behavior is greater than that of subjective norms. Future intervention plans for promoting effective MNP feeding should incorporate health education for baby caregivers and their important social relations. Thus, baby caregivers' attitude and willingness for MNP feeding will be strengthened and the effective feeding rate of MNP will be improved accordingly.

RESUMO

This study aims to prepare vitexin albumin nanoparticles(VT-BSA-NPs) to alleviate the low bioavailability of vitexin(VT) in vivo due to its poor water solubility. VT micro powders were prepared by the antisolvent crystallization method, and the morphology, size, and physicochemical properties of VT micro powders were studied. The results showed that the VT micro powder had a particle size of(187.13±7.15) nm, an approximate spherical morphology, and a uniform size distribution. Compared with VT, the chemical structure of VT micro powders has not changed. VT-BSA-NPs were prepared from VT micro powders by desolvation-crosslinking curing method. The preparation process was screened by single factor test and orthogonal test, and the quality evaluation of the optimal prescription particle size, PDI, Zeta potential, EE, and morphology was performed. The results showed that the average particle size of VT-BSA-NPs was(124.33±0.47) nm; the PDI was 0.184±0.012; the Zeta potential was(-48.83±2.20) mV, and the encapsulation rate was 83.43%±0.39%, all of which met the formulation-related requirements. The morphological results showed that the VT-BSA-NPs were approximately spherical in appearance, regular in shape, and without adhesion on the surface. In vitro release results showed a significantly reduced release rate of VT-BSA-NPs compared with VT, indicating a good sustained release effect. LC-MS/MS was used to establish an analytical method for in vivo analysis of VT and study the plasma pharmacokinetics of VT-BSA-NPs in rats. The results showed that the specificity of the analytical method was good, and the extraction recovery was more than 90%. Compared with VT and VT micro powders, VT-BSA-NPs could significantly increase AUC, MRT, and t_(1/2), which was beneficial to improve the bioavailability of VT.

RESUMO

The aim of the study was to develop a neural model enabling classification of fruit spray dried powders, on the basis of graphic data acquired from a bitmap received in the process of spray drying. The neural model was developed with multi-layer perceptron topology. Input variables were expressed in 46 image descriptors based on RGB, YCbCr, HSV (B) and HSL models. Sensitivity analysis of input variables and principal component analysis determined the significance level of each attribute. The optimal model with the lowest error value root mean square, at the level of 0.04 contained 46 neurons in the input layer, 11 neurons in the hidden layer, 10 neurons in the output layer. The results allowed to show that dyeing force (color features) had influence on effective differentiation of the research material consisting of spray-dried powders of rhubarb juice with various dried juice content levels: 30, 40 and 50% as well as high ("H") and low ("L") level of saccharification a chosen carrier (potato maltodextrin).
