RESUMO

Compulsive sexual behavior (CSB) is a prevalent disorder among adolescents. To date, most studies focused on the self-report assessment of individuals without assessing possible parental practices that might alleviate or exacerbate adolescents' CSB. In the present research, I adopted the family systematic approach, which considers the effects of family context on children's and adolescents' development and examined whether and how parental (fathers' and mothers') support giving, communication, and restrictive mediation relate to children's current and future severity of CSB. The sample comprised 300 Israeli families [triad of mothers, fathers, and one adolescent (39% boys, 61% girls; age 14-18)]. Results indicate that maternal support and paternal quality of communication with children significantly predicted lower severity of current and future CSB, respectively. These findings highlight an important and understudied topic in the hope of motivating additional researchers and practitioners to adopt a familial, microsystem perspective on healthy sexual development-a perspective that holds great promise in promoting normal sexual development and in decreasing risky sexual behaviors.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The prevention of AIDS among undergraduates in Wuhan is a public health priority. An important strategy for students to prevent AIDS is to establish correct moral concepts and cultivate a healthy lifestyle. INTRODUCTION: Through the investigation of MSM and non-MSM population in college students, this study seeks for possible influencing factors and solutions for AIDS prevention in colleges and universities. METHODS: This study was carried out in 15 universities in Wuhan. We recruited 127 MSM students through peer promotion, and 510 non-MSM students were selected by random cluster sampling. The two groups were investigated by anonymous questionnaire, and the questionnaire information was statistically analyzed. RESULTS: The awareness rate of AIDS-related knowledge among MSM students was 90.8%, while that among non-MSM students, it was 64.6%; neither meets the national requirements. The self- -recognition of MSM undergraduates was 95.0%. Among the 497 non-MSM undergraduates, 65.4% were willing to make friends with the MSM undergraduates. There were statistical differences in the social discrimination attitudes of those who knew AIDS-related knowledge (P<0.01), and the attitudes of those with knowledge of AIDS were more positive. CONCLUSION: The MSM students reported a high incidence of high-risk sexual behaviors and a gap between knowledge and behaviors. This study focuses on the comparison of the characteristics of knowledge, attitude, and behavior on AIDS between the two groups of people. AIDS prevention in colleges and universities requires a new way of thinking.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been declared a global pandemic. In this unprecedented situation, the intimate relationship, sexual behavior, and family functions of partners have also undergone unique changes. There are few reports on whether sexual behavior and family function affect intimate relationships between partners, especially among people aged 18 to 44 years. AIM: To analyze the influence of sociodemographic characteristics, family function, and changes in sexual behavior on male-female intimacy, the independent contributions of the aforementioned factors in this population group are required to be further investigated. METHODS: In the present study, 284 Chinese citizens aged 18-44 years completed the online questionnaire. The univariate analysis and cluster multiple linear regression were used to analyze the associations between sociodemographic factors, sexual-behavior changes, family function, and male-female intimacy. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: Family adaptation, partnership, growth, affection, resolve (APGAR) Scale and Relationship Assessment Scale were used to evaluate participants' family function and their intimacy. Details of the participants (sociodemographic and sexual factors) were obtained. RESULTS: The summary scores, with Relationship Assessment Scale and APGAR scales, were 27.19 ± 4.49 and 6.76 ± 2.28, respectively. About 43.3% of participants reported a decrease in sexual frequency. There were considerable differences among age, education level, sexual desire, sexual satisfaction, quality of sexual life, family function with male-female intimacy (P < .05). The sexual satisfaction and intimacy demonstrated a significant positive correlation (P < .05) by cluster multiple linear regression analysis. Compared with those who had a sexual life of mediocre quality, respondents who experienced a good quality sexual life had relatively higher scores in intimacy. The independent contributions of sociodemographic factors, sexual behavior factors, and family function in male-female intimacy were 13.0%, 38.2%, and 48.8%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Sexual behavior factors and family function were important independent determinants of partner intimacy among people aged 18-44 years. It can provide supportive information for health care to develop intervention plans and services to promote the harmonious development of intimate relationship. Feng Y-J, Fan Y-J, Su Z-Z, et al. RESUMO

In addition to its expression offline, sexual behavior is frequently expressed online. Some adolescents solely engage in online sexual activities, whereas others in offline and online activities, or have no sexual experience at all. In the current research, we examined whether those who solely engage in online sexual activities are at greater risk for compulsive sexual behavior. In Study 1 (n = 164), we examined differences in compulsive sexual behavior (CSB) and risky sexual action tendencies between study groups. In Study 2 (n = 713), we statistically replicated the classification into different sexual behaviors and examined differences between the clusters in CSB, social tendencies and socio-demographic measures. Results indicated that adolescents who only engaged in online sexual activities had significantly higher percentage of clinical CSB, were less likely boys and more likely to be religious. There were not more prone to risky sexual behavior, however. The current research expands the knowledge about offline or online sexually related activities among adolescence.

RESUMO

People with Parkinson's disease (PD) present with problematic sexual behaviors that are often misunderstood or ignored. Sexual problems in PD are part of a non-motor syndrome, and they play a  prominent role in the life of affected individuals and their partners. Based on our considerable clinical experience, we describe four common types of sexual preoccupation behaviors in people with PD: (1) sexual behavior with underlying sexual dysfunction, (2) sexual desire discrepancy with partner after restored desire, (3) hypersexuality and compulsive sexual behavior, and (4) sexual behavior with underlying restless genital syndrome. We also suggest methods of assessing and diagnosing these sexual behaviors, and propose alternative possible treatments for people with PD and their partners/caregivers. Understanding these four behavioral types will assist healthcare professionals in explaining and educating people with PD and their partners, contribute to decreased stress and tension between them, and help them manage these sexual issues.

RESUMO

UNLABELLED:   BACKGROUND: Menopause and its physical, hormonal and psychosocial changes could affect women's sexual function. There are controversial results regarding relationship between sexual attitudes and function. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to evaluate sexual attitudes and sexual function among Iranian menopausal age women. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This population based cross-sectional study was carried out on 225 menopausal women, aged 45-65 years. Based on a self-made questionnaire data were collected about women's socio-demographic characteristics, attitudes regarding sexuality and sexual function. Data were analyzed using SPSS and sexual function was compared between three groups of women who had positive, medium and negative attitudes regarding sexuality. RESULTS: The mean age of women was 53.11±4.56 years. Seventy percent of them had at least one sexual problem. Feeling of dyspareunia was significantly different between three categories of attitudes regarding sexuality (p=0.03). Comparing data obtained on their attitudes, sexual desire, orgasm and dyspareunia demonstrated significant differences (p=0.03, 0.04, and 0.04 respectively). CONCLUSION: Attitude regarding sexual function has a great impact on sexual activity of postmenopausal women that need to be considered in their health care programming.
