RESUMO
To evaluate the impact of perioperative comprehensive nursing intervention on postoperative urinary incontinence, various aspects of patient well-being were assessed. The comprehensive group, that received the nursing intervention, demonstrated significant improvements in self-care skills, health knowledge level, self-care responsibility, and self-concept compared to the standard group. The findings indicate that perioperative comprehensive nursing intervention has a remarkable effect on patients undergoing laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. This nursing intervention not only effectively improves postoperative urinary incontinence and alleviates negative emotions, such as anxiety and depression. Therefore, the implementation of this nursing intervention model is highly recommended for clinical practice and wider application.

INTRODUCTION: Heart failure is a common chronic illness associated with high readmission rates and death. Comprehensive nursing care, management of symptoms, and psychological support are increasingly seen as critical components of successful heart failure therapy. OBJECTIVE: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine the effect of comprehensive nursing care on clinical outcomes and quality of life in heart failure patients. METHODS: We searched electronic databases (PubMed, PROSPERO, and Web of Science) for randomised controlled trials and observational studies on comprehensive nursing care treatments for heart failure patients. Data on readmission rates, mortality rates, and quality of life were obtained and examined. RESULTS: A total of 693 studies satisfied the inclusion criteria. A meta-analysis found that comprehensive nursing care reduced heart failure-related readmissions considerably when compared to conventional therapy (odds ratio [OR]: 0.77; 95% CI: 0.66-0.88, p = 0.0002). There was a significant difference in all-cause mortality (OR: 0.76; 95% CI: 0.60-0.97, p = 0.03), but comprehensive treatment enhanced quality of life and functional status (standardised mean difference -0.05, 95% CI: -0.21 to 0.10, p = 0.49). CONCLUSION: Comprehensive nursing care improves clinical outcomes and quality of life for heart failure patients. This study stresses the need to add comprehensive nurse interventions in normal heart failure treatment programmes.

This study investigates the effects of comprehensive nursing interventions on wound pain in patients undergoing catheter insertion for peritoneal dialysis. Sixty patients who underwent catheter insertion for peritoneal dialysis from January 2021 to January 2023 at our hospital were selected as subjects and randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group using a random number table method. The control group received routine nursing care, while the experimental group was subjected to comprehensive nursing interventions. The study compared the impact of nursing measures on visual analogue scale (VAS), self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), self-rating depression scale (SDS) and nursing satisfaction between the two groups. The analysis revealed that on the third, fifth and seventh days post-intervention, the experimental group's wound VAS scores were significantly lower than those of the control group (p < 0.001). Furthermore, levels of anxiety and depression were markedly lower in the experimental group compared with the control group (p < 0.001). In addition, the nursing satisfaction rate was significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group (96.67% vs. 73.33%, p = 0.011). This study indicates that the application of comprehensive nursing interventions in patients undergoing catheter insertion for peritoneal dialysis is highly effective. It can alleviate wound pain and negative emotions to a certain extent, while also achieving high patient satisfaction, thus demonstrating significant clinical value.

RESUMO
BACKGROUND: Caregiving services often place a financial burden on individuals and households that use inpatient medical services. Consequently, this study aimed to examine the association between the type of caregiver and catastrophic health expenditure among households utilizing inpatient medical services. METHODS: Data were extracted from the Korea Health Panel Survey conducted in 2019. This study included 1126 households that used inpatient medical and caregiver services. These households were classified into three groups: formal caregivers, comprehensive nursing services, and informal caregivers. Multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the association between caregiver type and catastrophic health expenditure (CHE). RESULTS: Households receiving formal caregiving had an increased likelihood of CHE at threshold levels of 40% compared to those who received care from family (formal caregiver: OR 3.11; CI 1.63-5.92). Compared to those who received formal caregiving, households using comprehensive nursing services (CNS) had a decreased likelihood of CHE (CNS: OR, 0.35; CI 0.15-0.82). In addition, considering the economic value associated with informal care, there was no significant relationship between households received formal caregiving and informal caregiving. CONCLUSION: This study found that the association with CHE differed based on the type of caregiving used by each household. Households using formal care had a risk of developing CHE. Households using CNSs were likely to have a decreased association with CHE, compared to households using informal and formal caregivers. These findings highlight the need to expand policies to mitigate the burden on caregivers for households forced to use formal caregivers.

Pressure ulcers (PUs) are a common complication in postoperative patients with traumatic brain injury, and this study used a meta-analysis to assess the effects of comprehensive nursing applied in PUs intervention in postoperative patients with traumatic brain injury. A computerised systematic search of the PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), VIP and Wanfang databases was performed to collect publicly available articles on randomised controlled trials (RCTs) on the effects of comprehensive nursing interventions in postoperative patients with traumatic brain injury published up to August 2023. Two researchers independently completed the search and screening of the literature, extraction of data and quality assessment of the included literature based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software. Twenty-eight articles were finally included, for a cumulative count of 2641 patients, of which 1324 were in the intervention group and 1317 in the control group. The results of the meta-analysis showed that, compared with conventional nursing, comprehensive nursing intervention helped to reduce the incidence of PUs in postoperative patients with traumatic brain injury (5.14% vs. 19.67%, odds ratio [OR]: 0.22, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.16-0.29, p < 0.00001) and reduced the incidence of postoperative complications (7.87% vs. 25.84%, OR: 0.22, 95% CI: 0.11-0.43, p < 0.0001), while increasing patient satisfaction (96.67% vs. 75.33%, OR: 9.5, 95% CI: 3.63-24.88, p < 0.00001). This study concludes that a comprehensive nursing intervention applied to postoperative patients with traumatic brain injury can significantly reduce the incidence of PUs and postoperative complications as well as improve nursing satisfaction, and it is recommended for clinical promotion. However, due to the limitations of the studies' number and quality, more high-quality, large-sample RCTs are needed to further validate the conclusions of this study.
RESUMO
Background and objectives: As is well known, cancer patients require extensive medical attention as they undergo surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and supportive care. The importance of high-quality cancer-directed nursing, combined with precision medicine, to maximize their survival outcomes and help them achieve a better quality of life cannot be overemphasized. In this context, we offered a new cancer-oriented comprehensive nursing system to our inpatients and reviewed its clinical outcomes in comparison with those from the preexisting general cancer ward. Materials and Methods: From March 2019 to February 2020, a total of 102 cancer patients and 42 nurses were enrolled in this pilot study. We aimed to analyze their performance in three main categories: structure, process, and patient/nurse outcomes. Results: First, structural (nurse staffing and environment) upgrades were installed in the cancer-oriented comprehensive nursing ward, including an improved nurse-patient ratio (1:8 in the comprehensive ward as compared with 1:14 in the general ward), wider space between beds (1.5 m versus 1.0 m), fully automatic beds with fall prevention sensors, etc. Second, the nursing process was improved (missed care 0.1 event/month vs. 1.3 event/month). Third, both patient and nurse outcomes showed preferable results in the comprehensive ward. The patient satisfaction level was higher in the comprehensive nursing ward than in the general ward (willing to revisit: 91.7% and 78.4%, respectively; willing to recommend to others: 95.0% and 76.8%, respectively). Pressure ulcers, as a patient safety indicator, were also decreased (0.3 events/month vs. 0.8 events/month). However, the fall incidence was similar in both groups (1.6 events/month vs. 1.5 events/month). In terms of nurse outcomes, turnover intention was stabilized and nurses' job satisfaction in the comprehensive ward was superior to that of their counterparts. Conclusions: Our study was a pilot study to demonstrate that cancer patient-oriented comprehensive nursing services can be helpful in improving the quality of cancer treatment and nurses' job satisfaction. Continued interest in and efforts to improve nursing care delivery are also crucial in achieving and maintaining the best possible cancer patient care.

RESUMO
BACKGROUND: Simulation has been widely used in the teaching of pre-licensed nursing students and has shown positive results. However, there is limited evidence regarding the application of a comprehensive nursing course with simulation for Associated Degree in Nursing (ADN)-prepared nurses with different work experience times. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the satisfaction, self-confidence, and perceptions of scenario simulation among Chinese nurses in a comprehensive nursing skills course in an RN-BSN program. METHODS: A single-group post-test approach was used in the current study. Participants that completed a comprehensive nursing skills course with simulation in an RN-BSN program were enrolled. RESULTS: The mean satisfaction, self-confidence, educational practice, and simulation designs scores were rated highly. Self-confidence (p = 0.002), active learning (p = 0.020), collaboration (p = 0.030), support (p = 0.008), and problem-solving (p = 0.007) were significantly higher among students with more work experience compared to those with less experience. Then, four themes were analyzed: enthusiasm for learning, ability to experience different feelings during role-play, hybrid teaching format, and simulation fidelity. CONCLUSIONS: Results demonstrated that a comprehensive nursing skills course with simulation might improve Chinese ADN-prepared nurses' satisfaction and self-confidence in learning. Nurses with work experience gave a high rate to the scenario simulation, demonstrating that simulation can be widely applicable for students with different characteristics. Finally, the teaching strategy in the present study can be applied to more RN-BSN programs.
