RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) has the potential to cause clinically relevant systemic ischemic burden with long durations of aortic occlusion (AO). We aimed to examine the association between balloon occlusion time and clinical complications and mortality outcomes in patients undergoing zone 1 REBOA. METHODS: A retrospective cohort analysis of American Association for the Surgery of Trauma Aortic Occlusion for Resuscitation in Trauma and Acuteregistry patients with Zone 1 REBOA between 2013 and 2022 was performed. Patients with cardiopulmonary resuscitation on arrival or who did not survive past the emergency department were excluded. Total AO times were categorized as follows: <15 min, 15-30 min, 31-60 min, and >60 min. Clinical and procedural variables and in-hospital outcomes were compared across groups using bivariate and multivariate regression analyses. RESULTS: There were 327 cases meeting inclusion criteria (n = 51 < 15 min, 83 15-30 min, 98 31-60 min, and 95 > 60 min, respectively). AO >60 min had higher admission lactate (8 ± 6; P = 0.004) compared to all other time groups, but injury severity score, heart rate, and systolic blood pressure were similar. Group average times from admission to definitive hemorrhage control ranged from 82 to 103 min and were similar across groups (85 min in AO >60 group). Longer AO times were associated with greater red blood cell, fresh frozen plasma transfusions (P < 0.001), and vasopressor use (P = 0.001). Mortality was greatest in the >60 min group (73%) versus the <15 min, 15-30 min, and 31-60 min groups (53%, 43%, and 45%, P < 0.001). With adjustment for injury severity score, systolic blood pressure, and lactate, AO >60 min had greater mortality (OR 3.7, 95% CI 1.6-9.4; P < 0.001) than other AO duration groups. Among 153 survivors, AO >60 min had a higher rate of multiple organ failure (15.4%) compared to the other AO durations (0%, 0%, and 4%, P = 0.02). There were no differences in amputation rates (0.7%) or spinal cord ischemia (1.4%). acute kidney injury was seen in 41% of >60 min versus 21%, 27%, and 33%, P = 0.42. CONCLUSIONS: Though greater preocclusion physiologic injury may have been present, REBOA-induced ischemic insult was correlated with poor patient outcomes, specifically, REBOA inflation time >60 min had higher rates of mortality and multiple organ failure. Minimizing AO duration should be prioritized, and AO should not delay achieving definitive hemostasis. Partial REBOA may be a solution to extend safe AO time and deserves further study.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patch test is the gold standard for diagnosing allergic contact dermatitis. Conventionally, the patches are applied for 48 h, which in tropical weather conditions causes excessive sweating, leading to irritation, and sometimes the patches come off, making the test inconclusive. OBJECTIVE: To compare the patch test positivity after 24 and 48 h of occlusion time in patients of allergic contact dermatitis, using standard allergen concentration. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Clinically suspected patients of allergic contact dermatitis were enrolled and patch tested using the Indian Standard Series, parthenium acetone extracts (1:50, 1:100 and 1:200 dilutions) and patient material. Patches were applied in duplicate on either side of the back, using a random number table. One set of patches was removed after 24-h of occlusion, while the other set after 48-h. Readings were performed at 48- and 96-h by two independent dermatologists, blinded to the duration of occlusion. RESULTS: The study had 97 adult patients (58 males and 39 females; mean age: 48.12 ± 13.07 years). A total of 133 and 142 positive reactions were observed after 48 h occlusion at 48 and 96 h reading, respectively. Of these 117 (87.9%) and 132 (92.9%) patches were positive and concordant and noted at 24 h occlusion time. The Cohen's kappa coefficient were 0.94 for 48 h and 0.97 for 96 h reading, hence showing an almost complete agreement (ⱪ > 0.81) between patches occluded for 24 and 48 h. CONCLUSION: Though there is no significant difference in patch test positivity among ISS allergens after either occlusion time, 48 h occlusion performs significantly better compared with 24 h, when reactions of all allergens (ISS, patient material and parthenium acetone extract) are analysed together.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Amblyopia treatment by occluding the healthy eye is known to be effective during a sensitive critical period. This study aims to clarify the factors for the total occlusion time (TOT) required for the amblyopic eye to achieve a normal visual acuity (VA) level of 1.0 (0.0 logMAR equivalent). This could contribute to an efficient treatment plan for eyes with hyperopic anisometropic amblyopia. METHODS: Subjects were 58 patients (26 boys and 32 girls; age range, 3.6-9.2, average, 5.8 ± 1.3 years) with hyperopic anisometropic amblyopia. All the subjects had initially visited and completed occlusion therapy with improved VA of 1.0 or better in the amblyopic eye at Kindai University Hospital between January 2007 and March 2017. Using the subjects' medical records, we retrospectively investigated five factors for the TOT: the age at treatment, the initial VA of the amblyopic eye, refraction of the amblyopic eye, anisometropic disparity, and the presence of microstrabismus. Patient's VA improvement at one month after treatment was also evaluated to confirm the effect of the occlusion therapy. RESULTS: The initial VA of the amblyopic eye ranged from 0.1 to 0.9 (median, 0.4). The TOT ranged from 140 to 1795 (median, 598) hours with an average daily occlusion time of 7 hours. The initial VA of the amblyopic eye and presence of microstrabismus were the significant factors for the TOT (p < 0.01). To achieve VA of 1.0 or better, patients with an initial VA of ≤ 0.3 in the amblyopic eye required a longer TOT. Moreover, patients with concomitant microstrabismus required a 1.7-fold longer TOT compared to those without microstrabismus. CONCLUSION: Longer daily occlusion hours and early start of the treatment will be necessary for patients with poor initial VA or microstrabismus to complete occlusion therapy within the sensitive critical period.

RESUMO

Background and Objectives: The excessive use of smartphones for various tasks led to a new adverse postural phenomenon called text neck. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the text neck posture (TNP) on static occlusion by using the T-Scan III occlusal diagnostic system. Materials and Methods: Nineteen subjects (aged 20 to 24 years) were considered for this research. They had normal values for anterior overbite and overjet, Angle Class I occlusion, no posterior crossbite, and no signs or symptoms of cervical or temporo-mandibular disorders. Occlusal registrations were performed with the T-Scan III system in a normal, neutral head posture (NHP), as well as in the TNP. The investigated parameters were: occlusion time (OT), asymmetry index of the occlusal force (AOF), percent of the maximum movie force (%MMF), and the time elapsed from the last occlusal contact until the maximum intercuspation (MAT-OTB). The last three parameters were analyzed in the maximum area frame (MA) of the registrations. For the statistical analysis of the recorded data, the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test and the Spearman's correlation coefficient were used. Results: The following values were obtained in NHP and in TNP: for AOF, 14.88 ± 10.39% and 18.04 ± 12.83%, respectively; for OT, 1.34 ± 1.84 s and 1.32 ± 1.8 s, respectively; for the %MMF, 97.5 ± 2.83% and 96.31 ± 3.17%, respectively; for MAT-OTB, 2.08 ± 1.82 s and 1.45 ± 2.3 s, respectively. There were no statistically significant differences between the static occlusal parameters measured in NHP and those in TNP. However, the high values of the AOF and OT in NHP revealed an imbalance of the occlusal force distribution between the right and left side in maximum intercuspation (MI), as well as a lack of simultaneity of static occlusal contacts. Furthermore, there was a significant, direct, and strong correlation between OT and AOF in NHP. Conclusions: The NHP should not be used as the starting position in TNP simulations in T-Scan studies, so as to avoid statistically insignificant differences between static occlusion in NHP and TNP. The healthy standing subjects, with normal occlusal relationships from the clinical point of view, revealed an occlusal instability in NHP when examined with the T-Scan.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of morphological parameters of natural teeth and fixed partial dentures supported by dental implants on the time of occlusion. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study of the morphological parameters of the first right upper and lower molars of natural teeth and fixed partial dentures supported by dental implants in the positions of the first molars of the upper and lower jaws, followed by determination of the relationship between the obtained data and the occlusion time using mathematical and statistical analysis. RESULTS: The study of the morphology of the occlusal surface of natural teeth and fixed partial dentures supported by dental implants did not reveal significant differences in the results of measuring the distances between the cusps of the upper and lower first molars, both natural teeth and fixed partial dentures supported by dental implants. However, the angles of the slopes of the cusps and the angles between cusps in natural teeth are sharper than those of artificial crowns. CONCLUSION: According to the correlation analysis in both groups, the relationship between the occlusion time and the morphological parameters of the lower molars was determined; the relationship between the morphological parameters of the upper molars and the occlusion time was not revealed.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patch testing is the standard method to diagnose contact allergy. Patches are applied for 48 hours, which is inconvenient to patients in tropical weather. Therefore, we evaluated different patch test occlusion times with increased concentrations of an allergen to determine if occlusion time can be reduced without compromising patch test reactivity. METHODS: Patch test positive patients with parthenium dermatitis were enrolled and patch tested using five different concentrations (10%, 4%, 2%, 1%, and 0.5%) of parthenium extract. The patches were applied in triplicate. The first set was removed after 12 hours, whereas the second and third sets were removed after 24 and 48 hours, respectively. Readings were performed at 24, 48, and 96 hours. RESULTS: Fifty patients with parthenium dermatitis were included. The positive patch test reaction rates were comparable in all three sets at 24- and 48-hour readings irrespective of the occlusion time. All were positive, with 10%, 4%, and 2% concentrations at 96-hour reading with an occlusion time of 12 hours. CONCLUSION: An occlusion time of 12 hours seems adequate to elicit positive patch test reaction at a 96-hour reading if the concentration of patch test allergen can be increased, that is, from 1% to 2% in these patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) causes physiological, metabolic, end-organ and inflammatory changes that need to be addressed for better management of severely injured patients. The aim of this study was to investigate occlusion time-dependent metabolic, end-organ and inflammatory effects of total REBOA in Zone I in a normovolemic animal model. METHODS: Twenty-four pigs (25-35 kg) were randomized to total occlusion REBOA in Zone I for either 15, 30, 60 min (REBOA15, REBOA30, and REBOA60, respectively) or to a control group, followed by 3-h reperfusion. Hemodynamic variables, metabolic and inflammatory response, intraperitoneal and intrahepatic microdialysis, and plasma markers of end-organ injuries were measured during intervention and reperfusion. Intestinal histopathology was performed. RESULTS: Mean arterial pressure and cardiac output increased significantly in all REBOA groups during occlusion and blood flow in the superior mesenteric artery and urinary production subsided during intervention. Metabolic acidosis with increased intraperitoneal and intrahepatic concentrations of lactate and glycerol was most pronounced in REBOA30 and REBOA60 during reperfusion and did not normalize at the end of reperfusion in REBOA60. Inflammatory response showed a significant and persistent increase of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines during reperfusion in REBOA30 and was most pronounced in REBOA60. Plasma concentrations of liver, kidney, pancreatic and skeletal muscle enzymes were significantly increased at the end of reperfusion in REBOA30 and REBOA60. Significant intestinal mucosal damage was present in REBOA30 and REBOA60. CONCLUSION: Total REBOA caused severe systemic and intra-abdominal metabolic disturbances, organ damage and inflammatory activation already at 30 min of occlusion.

RESUMO

Platelets play a vital role in the formation of dangerous arterial thrombosis. Platelets are activated by adhesive proteins or soluble agonists through their specific receptors. The receptor-mediated signaling pathways lead to common signaling events, which result in shape changes and inside-out signaling, leading fibrinogen binding to glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex (integrin αIIbß3). This interaction initiates integrin αIIbß3-mediated outside-in signaling, subsequently culminating in granule secretion and aggregation. Myricetin is a flavonoid that occurs in a variety of plants. Although myricetin has been demonstrated to have several bioactive properties, its role in platelet activation has not been extensively studied. The present study demonstrated the ability of myricetin to inhibit platelet aggregation stimulated by collagen, thrombin, and U46619. Myricetin reduced the ATP-release, cytosolic Ca2+ mobilization, and P-selectin expression and the activation of PLCγ2/PKC, PI3K/Akt/GSK3ß, and MAPK. Myricetin exerted a direct inhibitory effect on the activation of integrin αIIbß3 by disrupting the binding between FITC-PAC-1 and the integrin. Moreover, myricetin suppressed integrin αIIbß3-mediated outside-in signaling, such as integrin ß3, Src, and Syk phosphorylation on immobilized fibrinogen. In animal studies, myricetin significantly prolonged the occlusion time of thrombotic platelet plug formation in mesenteric microvessels without extending bleeding time. This study concludes that myricetin is a natural integrin αIIbß3 inhibitor and a novel antithrombotic agent.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of increasing zone II resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) occlusion times on physiological, end-organ and inflammatory responses in rabbits to assess the safe aortic occlusion time in a normovolemic rabbit model. METHODS: The zone ll aorta was occluded with a balloon in 32 rabbits (8 animals each for 15, 30, 60, and 90 min). 8 rabbits served as a control. ELISAs were used to examine the serum levels of ALT, AST, Cr, BUN, MDA, SOD, IL-8, IL-6, and TNF-α; HE staining was used to identify the morphological changes in the kidney; RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA levels of IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α and NF-κB in the kidney and uterus; and Western blotting was used to measure the protein expression levels of IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α and NF-κB in the kidney and uterus. RESULTS: Plasma concentrations of liver markers, kidney markers, inflammatory factors and oxidative stress indicators were significantly increased at the end of reperfusion in the 30 min, 60 min and 90 min groups. Damage to the kidney occurred in the 30 min, 60 min and 90 min groups. The mRNA and protein expression levels of IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α and NF-κB in the kidney and uterus were significantly increased at the end of reperfusion in the 30 min group, and as the time of occlusion extended, these levels continued to increase. CONCLUSION: Activation of systemic inflammation and ischaemia-reperfusion injury of end-organs occurred when the occlusion time reached 30 min. Therefore, 15 min should be regarded as a safe period of REBOA in zone II.

RESUMO

Hypofibrinolysis is a recently-recognized risk factor for recurrent cardiovascular events in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), but the mechanistic determinants of this are not well understood. In patients with STEMI, we show that the effectiveness of endogenous fibrinolysis in whole blood is determined in part by fibrinogen level, high sensitivity C-reactive protein, and shear-induced platelet reactivity, the latter directly related to the speed of thrombin generation. Our findings strengthen the evidence for the role of cellular components and bidirectional crosstalk between coagulatory and inflammatory pathways as determinants of hypofibrinolysis.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Bruxism is an involuntary parafunctional habit performed unconsciously during sleep by the jaw muscles in which the tooth rows are pressed against each other and move horizontally. The symptoms in the oral cavity are slightly elusive which makes it difficult to diagnose. AIM: The aim of this study was to analyze the occlusion and disocclusion times in young adults affected by bruxism compared with healthy subjects. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty-four patients (15 men and 19 women) aged between 20-25 years were included in the study. They were allocated into two groups: group 1 - controls (n=13), and group 2 - patients who reported clenching or grinding their teeth (n=21). The study was conducted using a T-Scan Novus occlusion diagnostic device. The results obtained for the occlusion and disocclusion times were analyzed using the latest version of the T-Scan system software (ver. 9.1). The values for occlusion and disocclusion times of all subjects were recorded in the T-Scan. RESULTS: The occlusion times in the control group were found to be longer than those in the bruxism group. The disocclusion times of the subjects in group 1 were found to be shorter than those in group 2. CONCLUSIONS: The T-Scan system makes it possible to quantify the occlusion and disocclusion times, which helps to diagnose an initial form of bruxism in individuals at a young age.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: The aim of the study was to assess how the morphology of the occlusal surfaces of premolars and molars influenced the occlusion time in a mixed gender group of young adults with full natural dentition. METHODS: Fifty healthy volunteers with Angle's Class I occlusion were included in the study. After clinical examination, the alginate impressions of both arches were taken, and plaster casts were prepared. To assess the morphology of lateral teeth, the digital models were measured. Occlusal analysis was performed with the T-Scan® III to assess occlusion time. RESULTS: A direct correlation was found between the cusp distance for the first upper premolar and occlusion time (r = -0.29, p<0.05) and the distance between distal buccal and distal lingual cusps of the first lower premolar and occlusion time (r = 0.33, p<0.05). The parameters that had their impact on occlusion time were the opening angle of lingual cusps for the lower molars and the furrow angle of aperture between cusps for first upper premolar. DISCUSSION: Occlusal surface morphologies of premolars may have direct impact on occlusion time. However, anterior guidance parameters and morphologies of molars could also influence the time teeth are in contact coming to maximal intercuspation.

RESUMO

Protein production is controlled by ribosome binding to the messenger RNA (mRNA), quantified in part by the binding affinity between the ribosome and the ribosome binding sequence on the mRNA. Using the E. coli lac operon as model, Ringquist et al. (1992) found a more than 1,000-fold difference in protein yield when varying the Shine-Dalgarno sequence and its distance to the translation start site. Their proposed model accounted for this large variation by only a variation in the binding affinity and the subsequent initiation rate. Here we demonstrate that the decrease in protein yield with weaker ribosome binding sites in addition is caused by a decreased mRNA stability, and by an increased rate of premature transcription termination. Using different ribosome binding site sequences of the E. coli lacZ gene, we found that an approximately 100-fold span in protein expression could be subdivided into three mechanisms that each affected expression 3- to 6-fold. Our experiments is consistent with a two-step ribosome initiation model, in which occlusion of the initial part of the mRNA by a ribosome simultaneously protects the mRNA from both premature transcription termination and degradation: The premature termination we suggest is coupled to the absence of occlusion that allows binding of transcription termination factor, possibly Rho. The mRNA stability is explained by occlusion that prevents binding of the degrading enzymes. In our proposed scenario, a mRNA with lower translation initiation rate would at the same time be "hit" by an increased premature termination and a shorter life-time. Our model further suggests that the transcription from most if not all natural promoters is substantially influenced by premature termination.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The aim of the study was to evaluate functional parameters of the occlusion in complete denture wearers before and after prosthetic treatment. METHODS: The sample used as the basis for the present study consisted of 50 healthy Caucasian patients (35 women and 15 men), aged from 44 to 86 years (mean=69.18±10), with a total deficiency of teeth. All patients received new complete dentures. Each patient underwent lateral radiograph with the presence of complete dentures, both before (initially existing dentures) and after the prosthetic treatment (new restorations). Cephalometric analysis was based on the Ricketts and McNamara criteria. In order to assess the functional parameters of the occlusion T-scan III analysis was conducted. The following parameters were measured: occlusion - and disclusion time. RESULTS: Statistically significant differences of functional parameters obtained before and 3 months after the treatment were noted in the whole study group. Both before and after therapy occlusion time was longer in women than in men. No statistically significant link was noted between functional parameters in occlusion and age of the patients, denture wearing time, and edentulous period. Some relationships were noted between occlusion time and cephalometric parameters associated with anterior facial height. CONCLUSION: Reconstruction of the surface of artificial teeth and vertical occlusal dimension affects the sustainability of parameters of occlusion and balance of forces in centric occlusion. The progressive shortening of occlusion time during the period of monitoring may be considered as a sign of progressive adaptation.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Tooth wear is a basic physiological adjustment mechanism in the masticatory system. Unfortunately, it is not clear what the relationship is between the activity of the masticatory muscles and the tooth hard tissue loss (mainly enamel) in patients with advanced tooth wear. The aims of this study were (1) to compare the occlusion times and (2) to compare the EMG activity in maximal voluntary clench of the masseter and anterior temporalis muscles of patients with advanced tooth wear to the same activity of healthy volunteers. DESIGN: 50 (16F, 34M) patients and 30 (12F, 18M) age matched controls were clinically examined to assess the degree of wear (TWI). Each subject underwent electromyographic analysis (bilateral anterior temporalis, superficial masseter, anterior digastric and sternocleidomastoid muscles) and digital occlusal analysis. RESULTS: Mean values of the electrical potentials of the mandible elevating muscles during clench were higher in the study group compared to the controls. A negative correlation was found between the temporalis and masseter muscle activities during clench and the mean value of TWI (r=-0.383, p=0.009; r=-0.447, p=0.002). Occlusion time was longer in the study group compared to controls (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Mandibular adductors demonstrated lower muscular activities during clenching in the tooth wear patients; however, the cause of this finding is not certain. Prolongation of occlusion time may exacerbate occlusal surfaces wear or excessive wear may prolong occlusion time.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: We investigated the expression of hippocampal heat shock protein 70 (HSP-70) infarction volume after different durations of experimental ischemic stroke in mice. METHODS: Focal cerebral ischemia was induced in mice by occluding the middle cerebral artery with the modified intraluminal filament technique. Twenty-four hours after ischemia induction, both hippocampi were extracted for HSP-70 protein analyses. Slices from each hemisphere were stained with 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (2%), and infarction volumes were calculated. HSP-70 levels were evaluated using western blot and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HSP-70 subtype (hsp70.1, hspa1a, hspa1b) mRNA levels in the hippocampus were measured using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). RESULTS: Cerebral infarctions were found ipsilateral to the occlusion in 10 mice exposed to transient ischemia (5 each in the 30-min and 60-min occlusion groups), whereas no focal infarctions were noted in any of the sham mice. The average infarct volumes of the 2 ischemic groups were 22.28±7.31 mm(3) [30-min group±standard deviation (SD)] and 38.06±9.53 mm(3) (60-min group±SD). Western blot analyses and ELISA showed that HSP-70 in hippocampal tissues increased in the infarction groups than in the sham group. However, differences in HSP-70 levels between the 2 infarction groups were statistically insignificant. Moreover, RT-PCR results demonstrated no relationship between the mRNA expression of HSP-70 subtypes and occlusion time or infarction volume. CONCLUSION: Our results indicated no significant difference in HSP-70 expression between the 30- and 60-min occlusion groups despite the statistical difference in infarction volumes. Furthermore, HSP-70 subtype mRNA expression was independent of both occlusion duration and cerebral infarction volume.

RESUMO

Because of its high sensitivity and reproducibility, the FeCl3 -induced arterial thrombosis mouse model is widely used to study molecular mechanisms as well as the efficacy of antithrombotic agents. The model also carries the additional advantages of being relatively easy to establish and requiring minimal instrumentation. However, the various parameters that influence the outcome must be optimized to the experimental requirements and the individual laboratory conditions. Here, we describe a standard protocol for FeCl3 -induced common carotid artery thrombosis, parameters that influence thrombus growth, ways to optimize the experiment, and interpretation of the data.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Thrombin-mediated activation of human platelets involves the G-protein-coupled protease-activated receptors PAR1 and PAR4. Inhibition of PAR1 and/or PAR4 is thought to modulate platelet activation and subsequent procoagulant reactions. However, the antithrombotic effects of PAR1 and PAR4 antagonism have not been fully elucidated, particularly under flow conditions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A microchip-based flow chamber system was used to evaluate the influence of SCH79797 (PAR1 antagonist) and YD-3 (PAR4 antagonist) on thrombus formation mediated by collagen and tissue thromboplastin at shear rates simulating those experienced in small- to medium-sized arteries (600s(-1)) and large arteries and small veins (240s(-1)). RESULTS: At a shear rate of 600s(-1), SCH79797 (10µM) efficiently reduced fibrin-rich platelet thrombi and significantly delayed occlusion of the flow chamber capillary (1.44 fold of control; P<0.001). The inhibitory activity of SCH79797 was diminished at 240s(-1). YD-3 (20µM) had no significant effect at either shear rate. The antithrombotic effects of SCH79797 were significantly augmented when combined with aspirin and AR-C66096 (P2Y12 antagonist), but not with YD-3. In contrast, no significant inhibition of tissue factor-induced clot formation under static conditions was observed in blood treated with SCH79797 and YD-3, although thrombin generation in platelet-rich plasma was weakly delayed by these antagonists. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that the antithrombotic activities of PAR1 and/or PAR4 antagonism is influenced by shear conditions as well as by combined platelet inhibition with aspirin and a P2Y12-antagonist.

RESUMO

Objective:To study the occlusion characteristics of the young subjects with bruxism before and after treatment by elastic occlusal splint. Methods:10 patients with bruxism and aged 22-27 years(n=10) were treated by elastic occlusal splint, before and 6 months after treatment they were examined by T-Scan occlusion detector. The occlusion time( OT) , disclusion time( DT) , oc-clusion force( OF) , the perentage of occlusion force( POF) , the changes of the position of center occlusal force( COF) and the asym-metry index of occlusion force(AOF) were observed and compared with those of the healthy controls(n=10). Results: ① In the case group there was significant difference in the OT and DT between left and right anterior teeth before treatment (P0. 05). There was significant difference in the momevent of COF of left and right side, the POF of right side and the AOF between the 2 groups before treatment, but not after the treatment(P>0. 05). ② In the case group after treatment the OT and DT of left and right anterior teeth were shortened(P0. 05). Conclusion:The occlusal factors such as early contact, lateral teeth synthetic interference, occlusal force center excursion have close relationship with bruxism. Elastic occlusal splint can effectively correct muscle dysfunction and make occlusal relationship more coordinated and stable, and therefore is effective in the treatment of bruxism.

The average infarct volumes of the 2 ischemic groups were 22.28+/-7.31 mm3 [30-min group+/-standard deviation (SD)] and 38.06+/-9.53 mm3 (60-min group+/-SD).
