PIP: 22 demographic tracking operations in Togo were completed between 1921 and 1986 (including a survey on budget and consumption which began in 1986 and will be in progress until 1989). Only 2 operations (an administrative census, and a sanitary survey) were done during the colonial period, all the others were completed since the independance of Togo; 9 between 1958 and 1976, 11 between 1977 and 1986 (including the survey in progress). Operations tracked mere: population census (1958-1960, 1970, 1981); demographic survey general in 1961, and 1971, south Togo in 1978, Plateaux Region in 1978-1979); survey on family budget and consumption (1963); survey on malaria (1965-1977); survey on occupations (1970); agricultural census (1972-1973, 1983); fertility in southeast Togo (1976); food supply balance and socio-demography (southeast Togo, 1980); infant and child mortality (Lome, 1979-1982); mortality in rural areas (Maritime Region, 1983); the coming of a new child (Lome, 1983-1985); infant mortality in rural areas (Plateaux Region, 1984); the Meba-Gourma's nuptiality, fertility, and reproduction (north Togo, 1985); and survey on budget and consumption (urban area, 1986-1987; rural area, 1988-1989).^ieng
