ABSTRACT
Based upon resonant two-photon absorption within a rubidium cell and 780 nm pump light, a birefringent medium for 1.530 µm is induced that changes rapidly with frequency. The birefringence is exploited to build a spectrometer that is capable of measuring the Doppler shift of scattered photons.
