Infectious meningitis are compulsory diseases that cause great concern in public helth, due high mortality rates. Their most common agents are bacteria and viruses, but can be also caused by fungi and parasites. Angiostrongylus cantonensis is meningoencephalic angiostrongyliasis nematode responsible and is the most involved in eosinophilic meningitis. It is endemic in Asia and Pacific islands, but has been found in Africa and the Americas. In Brazil, definitive (rats) and intermediates (mollusks) infected hosts were found in Paraná, Pará, Bahia, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo states. São Paulo reports about 7,000 meningitis cases, including explicit (ME) and unexplained etiologies meningitis (MNE).This work found 34,343 meningitis cases in São Paulo state between 2013 and 2017. Of these, 31,545 (92%) were ME, with 2,219 deaths (7%) 7,084 (22%) in 2013, with 501 22.6%) deaths; 7,256 (23%) in 2014, with 470 (21.2%) deaths; 5,592 (18%) in 2015, with 429 (19.3%) deaths; 6,131 (19%) in 2016, with 397 (17.9%) deaths; and 5,469 (17%) in 2017, with 422...(AU)
