ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:

Intraoperative magnetic resonance (MR) imaging has been employed as an alternative to image guidance using preoperative images. We integrated both systems to evaluate their clinical use.

METHODS:

The BrainLAB VectorVision system was integrated in an intraoperative Siemens Open Viva 0.2-tesla MR system. Clinical experience was assessed.

RESULTS:

Patterns of intraoperative imaging emerged, and benefit was seen in registering preoperative and intraoperative images.

CONCLUSIONS:

This integrated system has clinically observed effects on imaging, navigation, and surgery.
