ABSTRACT
Few cases of isolated spontaneous hyphema in the newborn have been reported. A case of a term vaginally delivered female newborn who was diagnosed as having a hyphema in the left eye 18 hours after birth is presented. Delivery was complicated with fetal head malposition and the delivery was prolonged. The mother was nulliparous and without significant medical history. The hyphema resolved within 3 days without complications or sequela. The authors review the literature of spontaneous newborn hyphema and link an association with fetal head malposition.
