ABSTRACT

The methanolic extract of Amorphophallus paeoniifolius was peracetylated to obtain an unusual peracetylated Î³-lactone backbone. Structure elucidation revealed that this compound is an outcome of the chemical transformation of heptonic acid Î³-lactone.
