RESUMO

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Advanced measures of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) are associated with CVD risk factors. The present study aimed to examine whether CVD risk factors can predict clinic-based measures of CRF, using the Siconolfi step test and to determine if exercise can improve RA patients' cardiovascular health. Sixty-five RA patients (46 females, age 58 ± 11 years) completed assessments of CRF, CVD risk factors, body composition and RA characteristics. Ten patients participated in a follow-up 8-week exercise intervention. CRF was low (22 ml kg-1 min-1) and associated with higher diastolic blood pressure (r = - 0.37, p = 0.002), higher global CVD risk (r = - 0.267, p = 0.031) and worse body composition profile (body fat, r = - 0.48, p < 0.001; waist, r = - 0.65, p < 0.001; hip, r = - 0.58, p < 0.001). Regular exercise significantly improved CRF (p = 0.021), lower body strength (p < 0.001), agility (p < 0.001), systolic blood pressure (p = 0.021), body fat (p = 0.018), waist circumference (p = 0.035), hip circumference (p = 0.016), disease activity (p = 0.002), disability (p = 0.007) and QoL (p = 0.004). Elevated diastolic blood pressure and worse body composition profile are strong predictors of clinic-based measures of CRF. CRF is an important determinant of CVD risk and warrants inclusion in the routine assessment of RA patients. Regular exercise can improve CRF and CVD risk factors without any exacerbation of disease activity and should be offered as part of routine care.

RESUMO

Information technology is one of the most rapidly growing technologies globally. Over the last decade, its usage in healthcare has been remarkable. Over the last decade, its usage in healthcare has been remarkable. The study examines the impact of various factors as barriers to adopting the information system in healthcare. These factors are categorized into three major types: external attacks, which include phishing attacks and ransomware; employee factors, including lack of skills and the issue of information misuse; and technological factors, including complexity and vulnerability. The findings show that external attacks and technological factors are the main barriers to adopting information systems, while employee factors have no significant impact on the adoption of information systems in the healthcare industry of Pakistan. The study provides implications for healthcare policy makers, professionals and organziations regarding the successful adoption of health information system.

RESUMO

As the planet faces the challenge of global warming, every individual and organization must adopt green practices to protect nature. The automobile industry is one of the primary industries which can contribute significantly towards sustainability. This study aims to examine the impact of green behavior and green perceived benefits on the green buying behaviors of automobiles. The research also explores the moderating influence of environmental awareness on the mechanism. The research is based on a quantitative method for which primary data was gathered from 406 respondents across Pakistan, China and Saudi Arabia via Quota-based purposive sampling. The gathered data was analyzed via SmartPLS. The results show that green behavior and perceived benefits positively and significantly influence green buying behavior. The findings also show the moderating role of environmental awareness on green behavior towards green buying and show no impact on the perceived benefits towards buying behavior. The study has practical and theoretical implications for managers, researchers, policymakers and institutions in the context of green automobile development and businesses. The study also contributes to the attainment of sustainable development goals.

RESUMO

The study investigates the relationship between green production, green technology, waste reduction, energy use, and sustainability. A Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach was used for analysis. The data was collected from a sample of companies in the textile industry. The results suggest that green production and technology positively and significantly affect waste reduction and energy use, which mediates the positive relationship between these two factors and sustainability. This study concludes that green production and technology are critical drivers of sustainability and emphasizes the need to prioritize waste reduction and energy use in sustainable manufacturing practices. The study has practical and managerial implications in all production or manufacturing industries and provides a guideline for managers and policymakers to ensure sustainability.

RESUMO

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become essential to Electronic-Commerce technology over the past decades. Its fast growth has changed the way consumers do online shopping. Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as a theoretical framework, this research examines how AI can be made more effective and profitable in e-commerce and how entrepreneurs can make AI technology to assist in achieving their business goals. In this regard, an online survey was conducted from the online purchasers of e-commerce firms. The Partial Least Square (PLS) Smart was used to examine the data. The broadly used TAM was identified as an appropriate hypothetical model for studying the acceptance of AI technology in e-commerce. The findings of this study show that Subjective Norms positively impact Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Pursued Ease of Use (PEU), trust has a positive effect on PEU, and PEU positively impacts PU and attitudes toward use. Similarly, PU also has a positive effect on attitudes toward use and intention to use. Furthermore, the findings do not support the impact of Trust on PU and attitudes towards behavioural intention to use. Lastly, behavioural intention to use positively impacted the actual use of AI technology. This study adds theoretical and practical knowledge for adopting the TAM model in the E-commerce sector. It helps entrepreneurs to implement the TAM model in their business to use AI in a better and more appropriate way.

RESUMO

With the advent of Internet, people actively express their opinions about products, services, events, political parties, etc., in social media, blogs, and website comments. The amount of research work on sentiment analysis is growing explosively. However, the majority of research efforts are devoted to English-language data, while a great share of information is available in other languages. We present a state-of-the-art review on multilingual sentiment analysis. More importantly, we compare our own implementation of existing approaches on common data. Precision observed in our experiments is typically lower than the one reported by the original authors, which we attribute to the lack of detail in the original presentation of those approaches. Thus, we compare the existing works by what they really offer to the reader, including whether they allow for accurate implementation and for reliable reproduction of the reported results.

RESUMO

Abdominal laparoscopy was performed on 200 patients with undiagnosed ascites. It was unsuccessful in one patient with tuberculous peritonitis because of extensive adhesions. A presumptive diagnosis of tuberculous peritonitis based on clinical findings and peritoneal tubercles or adhesions visualized during laparoscopy was made in 90 of these patients. The diagnosis was confirmed in 88 by histopathology, bacteriology, or therapeutic response. Two of the 109 remaining patients who had other presumptive diagnoses made during laparoscopy were eventually confirmed to be cases of tuberculous peritonitis. Of 91 patients with tuberculous peritonitis included in this series, 79% were females, with the majority (79%) of them being of child-bearing age. Half had been ill for longer than one month. The most frequent complaints were abdominal pain, fever, anorexia, night sweats, abdominal swelling, and weight loss. Ascites, fever, wasting, pallor, and abdominal tenderness were common findings. Ultrasonography demonstrated ascites in all patients who underwent this procedure; 21% also had adhesions. Pleural effusion was present in 15% and pulmonary tuberculosis was detected in only two patients. Biopsy samples taken during laparoscopy showed that 60% had noncaseous granulomas and 33% had caseous granulomas. Mycobacterium tuberculosis was detected in 77%, with guinea pig inoculation having the highest sensitivity, followed by culture, and lastly by acid-fast smear. Mycobacterium tuberculosis was isolated more easily from biopsy samples than from ascitic fluid. Nine of 20 M. tuberculosis isolates that were identified as to species were M. bovis. Tuberculous peritonitis, a frequent cause of febrile ascites in Egyptian women, was easily diagnosed by histopathologic and bacteriologic studies of biopsy samples taken at laparoscopy. All patients responded rapidly to antituberculosis therapy.

RESUMO

Systemic lupus erythematosus is the prototype multisystem autoimmune disease. A strong genetic component of susceptibility to the disease is well established. Studies of murine models of systemic lupus erythematosus have shown complex genetic interactions that influence both susceptibility and phenotypic expression. These models strongly suggest that several defects in similar pathways, e.g. clearance of immune complexes and/or apoptotic cell debris, can all result in disease expression. Studies in humans have found linkage to several overlapping regions on chromosome 1q, although the precise susceptibility gene or genes in these regions have yet to be identified. Recent studies of candidate genes, including Fcgamma receptors, IL-6, and tumour necrosis factor-alpha, suggest that in human disease, genetic factors do play a role in disease susceptibility and clinical phenotype. The precise gene or genes involved and the strength of their influence do, however, appear to differ considerably in different populations.
