RESUMO

Family has a significant impact on individual mental health. Based on social support theory, family system theory and the Mental Health Continuum Short Form (MHC-SF), this research constructed a model of the pathway of perceived family support on psychological well-being and the results empirically clarified that perceived family support has a significant positive relationship with emotional well-being, social well-being, and psychological well-being (P < 0.001). Emotional well-being positively influences social well-being and psychological well-being (P < 0.001). Social well-being positively affects psychological well-being (P < 0.001). There were direct mediating effects of emotional well-being (13.45%), direct mediating effects of social well-being (32.82%) and a serial mediating effect (28.07%) between perceived family support and psychological well-being (P < 0.001).

RESUMO

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) may undergo cognitive impairment. We aimed to explore the cognition of patients with cognitive impairment (CI) and no cognitive impairment (NCI) respectively and the effect of demographics, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), number of comorbidities (NCD), and hemoglobin on CI in Chinese patients with CKD at stage 3-5 treated by nondialysis by using the Beijing version of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-BJ). A total of 120 patients with CKD were recruited from the Department of Nephrology at the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine at in-patient and out-patient follow up. A logistic regression model was performed to assess the effect of these variables on CI of CKD patients. The results indicated that the CI group was mainly in the decline of visuospatial and executive function, abstraction, and memory, compared with the NCI group. In addition, years of education, eGFR and NCD were found as predictors of CI of CKD patients at stage 3-5. Specifically, lower eGFR, less years of education and more comorbidities were risk predictors of CI.

RESUMO

Patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) undergo cognitive impairment. We aimed to explore the cognition level in patients of all severities with different lesion sites and the effect of demographic variables, lesion site, TBI severity, and the time since the TBI on their cognitive abilities using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment-Basic (MoCA-B). A total of 67 patients with TBI were recruited from the Department of Cerebral Surgery at No. 101 Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) at out-patient follow up. A regression model was performed to assess the effect of these variables on cognition of TBI patients. As expected, age, education, and the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score were found as predictors of cognition of TBI patients. Participants, who were younger, had more years of education, and a higher GCS score had better cognition, respectively. Thus, the results provide evidence for the early detection of possible different cognition impairment of TBI patients. Specifically, these findings can help predict early prognosis for patients in the course of clinical diagnosis and treatment and, thus, allow for early intervention to improve the patients' quality of life and possible extend their life.

RESUMO

On the basis of Eu(III)-4,7-bis(chlorosulfophenyl)-1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-di-carboxylic acid chelate (BCPDA) that was synthesized and characterized for time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay (TRFIA), Donkey anti-hepatitis B surface (anti-HBs) was labeled with BCPDA-Eu3+. Coomassie Brilliant Blue was used to determine the protein concentration and radio immunoassay (RIA) for detecting the biological activity in the labeled protein. Optimal conditions for the protein labeling were obtained by monitoring the reaction. Results suggested that the protein could be labeled with BCPDA under relatively moderate conditions. As a practical application, a protein-BCPDA-Eu3+ chelate was obtained by using BCPDA-protein that reacted with EuCl3 under certain conditions. Some properties of BCPDA and protein-BCPDA-Eu3+, such as absorption spectrum, emission spectrum and fluorescence lifetime, were discussed. The detection limit and the linear working range of the established method were also investigated.

RESUMO

The authors labeled bovine serum albumin (BSA) with a new europium chelator 4,7-bis(chlorosulfophenyl)-1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxylic acid (BCPDA) which was synthesized by solid phase time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay (TRFIA) technology. The process of BCPDA-labeling-BSA reaction was studied. Using Coomassie brilliant blue method, concentrations of BSA and BCPDA were determined in BCPDA-BSA labeled sample. The labeling reaction condition was studied. Labeling ratio and protein labeling recovery were calculated. BCPDA-BSA-Eu3+ complex has a very large Stokes shift (270 nm) and can emit very strong fluorescence band at 611.2 nm which is very narrow (10 nm). BCPDA-BSA-Eu3+ complex exhibits very long fluorescence lifetimes by the experiment demonstration. Also, BCPDA and protein-BCPDA-Eu3+ complex is relatively stable.
