RESUMO

Drawing on concepts from conservation of resources theory, this study examines the effects of perceived workplace COVID-19 infection risk on employees' in-role (i.e., task), extra-role (i.e., OCBs: organizational citizenship behaviors), and creative performance via three mediators, namely, uncertainty, self-control, and psychological capital (i.e., PsyCap), and the moderation of leaders' safety commitment. Three sets of surveys were collected from 445 employees and 115 supervisors working in various industries during the 2021 COVID-19 (Alpha and Delta variants) outbreak in Taiwan, when vaccinations were not yet readily available. The Bayesian multilevel results reveal that COVID-19 infection risk (Time 1) is negatively associated with creativity (Time 3) as well as supervisor-rated task performance and OCBs (Time 3) via PsyCap. Additionally, the relationship between COVID-19 infection risk and creativity is mediated by the serial psychological processes of uncertainty (Time 2), self-control (Time 2), and PsyCap (Time 3). Furthermore, supervisors' safety commitment marginally moderates the relationships between uncertainty and self-control and between self-control and PsyCap. Conditional indirect results show that the effect of uncertainty on PsyCap via self-control is significant for supervisors with high-level safety commitment, and the effect of self-control on creative performance via PsyCap is significant for supervisors with both high- and low-level safety commitment. In summary, workplace COVID-19 infection risk stimulates a tandem psychological process and impairs employees' work-related performance; PsyCap plays a dominant role in this context. Leaders may prevent similar negative impacts by committing to ensuring workplace security to compensate for employees' resource loss when facing future crises or threats. We have synthesized single crystals of a 2-phenylethanethiol-protected Ni6 nanocluster, namely Ni6(C8H9S)12, which shows a hexagonal metallic core structure and reasonable stability. Interestingly this cluster is found to be an excellent candidate for the catalytic oxidation of toluene to benzaldehyde, with 100% conversion and 91% selectivity, showing application potential as an aromatic aldehyde in industry. Using DFT calculations, we rationalize the catalytic reaction mechanism for the conversion of toluene to benzaldehyde, and demonstrate that the presence of H2O2 initiates the Ni6 cluster via a highly exothermic step to form a Ni6O* intermediate which then results in active sites for the oxidation of toluene. What is interesting is that the likely steric geometry matching of the six-ring Ni6 core, a dozen phenylethanethiol ligands and the aromatic reactant toluene could attain a synergistic effect to facilitate the production of benzaldehyde free of catalyst support.

RESUMO

Followership is an important but understudied domain. This study adopted a follower-centric perspective to examine the internal process by which followership affects creative performance via work autonomy and creative self-efficacy. The study employed a 3-wave survey of 341 employees of a Taiwanese university to achieve the research purpose. This study showed that effective followership (Time 1) is positively associated with employees' work autonomy (Time 1) and creative self-efficacy (Time 2). Work autonomy and creative self-efficacy mediate the relationship between effective followership and creative performance (Time 3). This study's empirical findings provide an improved way of measuring followership and broaden our understanding of how followership triggers intrinsic motivation to facilitate creative performance.

RESUMO

In 2017, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the concept of high-quality economic development, indicating that the Chinese economy has shifted from rapid growth to high-quality development. High-quality economic development is the growth mode of an innovation-driven economy, an innovative, high-efficiency, energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and high-value-added growth mode. Environmental regulation is an important means to solve economic development and environmental pollution and plays an important role in high-quality economic development. In order to explore the impact of China's environmental regulations on the high-quality economic development, this paper based on the panel data of 30 provinces (cities) in China from 2004 to 2015 uses the dynamic spatial Dubin model (DSDM) to analyze the direct and indirect effects of China's environmental regulations on high-quality economic development and regional heterogeneity. It also incorporates R&D (Research and Development) investment, government investment in environmental governance, and fiscal decentralization into the model and analyzes the direct and indirect effects of the above three factors in the process of environmental regulation affecting high-quality economic development. We found that China's high-quality economic development is spatially related between different provinces. And environmental regulations have obvious direct and indirect effects in the impact of high-quality economic development in the central and eastern regions, and this effect phenomenon is not significant in the western region. R&D investment, environmental protection investment, and fiscal decentralization have different adjustment effects on environmental regulation and high-quality economic development, and the same kind of adjustment variable also shows obvious heterogeneity among different regions. Finally, we put forward relevant policy recommendations based on the conclusions, with a view to improving China's high-quality economic development.

We synthesized an [Au13Cu4(PPh3)4(SPy)8]+ nanocluster co-capped by phosphine and thiolate ligands. Interestingly, this Au13Cu4 cluster corresponds to an anti-centrosymmetric structure with the four copper atoms coordinated to the mixed ligands on the same side of the Au13 icosahedron, which is in sharp contrast to the [Au13Cu4(PPh2Py)4(SPhtBu)8]+ and [Au13Cu2(PPh3)6(SPy)6]+ clusters which possess highly symmetric structures with well-separated Cu adatoms. Both [Au13Cu4(PPh3)4(SPy)8]+ and [Au13Cu2(PPh3)6(SPy)6]+ clusters correspond to 8 valence electron superatoms with large HOMO-LUMO gaps, respectively. The difference in structure is rooted in the nature of the mixed ligands, with the bidentate SPy binding strongly to Cu on both binding sites (-N-Cu and Au-SR-Cu) leading to the co-linking of adjacent Cu atoms, while the bidentate PPh2Py binds Cu on one site and Au on the other giving rise to a separation of the Cu atoms even in the presence of relatively higher monomer concentration. Both [Au13Cu4(PPh3)4(SPy)8]+ and [Au13Cu2(PPh3)6(SPy)6]+ display emissions in the near-IR regions. TD-DFT calculations reproduce the spectroscopic results with specified excited states, shedding light on the geometric and electronic behaviors of the ligand-protected Au13Mx clusters.

We have synthesized Ag12 nanoclusters (NCs) with mercaptosuccinic acid (H2SMA) as the ligand. This cluster is found to be water-soluble and has satisfactory stability with [Ag12(HSMA)6Na6]2+, as determined by high-resolution mass spectrometry. Interestingly, it is noted that both the H2SMA ligand and Ag12 clusters do not display interference Raman signals, suggesting that this material is a good candidate as a substrate for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). As a result, we observe enhanced Raman activity of pyrazine molecules adsorbed on Ag12 NCs along with a large red-shift up to ∼27 cm-1. To fully demonstrate the charge transfer interactions between pyrazine and Ag12 clusters, by utilizing first-principles calculations, we estimate polarizability tensor and conduct electronic natural population analysis (NPA), natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, deformation density analysis (DDA) and charge decomposition analysis (CDA). In view of the minimized contribution from local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), such a comprehensive study of metal NCs, which are free of Raman interference, provides a modelling method towards the long-debated chemical mechanism in SERS theory.
