RESUMO

The aim of the present study was to verify the effects of muscular strength training and growth hormone (GH) supplementation on femoral bone tissue by Raman spectroscopy (Raman), dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and mechanical resistance (F-max) analysis. A total of 40 male Wistar animals, 60 days old, were used. The animals were distributed into four groups: control (C), control with GH (GHC), muscular strength training (T), and muscular strength training with GH (GHT). Blood samples were collected for the quantification of creatine kinase (CK-MB) and the femurs were removed for analysis by Raman, DXA, and F-max. A more pronounced increase in the bone mineral components was verified in the T group, for all the variables obtained by the Raman (calcium, phosphate, amide, and collagen). In addition, for animals submitted to GH supplementation, there was a reduction in the variable bone mineral density (BMD) obtained by the DXA (p < 0.05). Finally, the animals that received GH supplementation presented a higher F-max, but without statistical significance (p > 0.05). It was concluded that animals that received GH supplementation demonstrated a decrease in BMD. In addition, T alone was able to promote increased calcium, phosphate, amide, and collagen compounds in bone tissue.

RESUMO

Treatment of muscle injuries usually results in the interruption of sports practice; thus, studies aimed at accelerating the return to activity, with proper tissue repair, are important. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of photobiomodulation (PBM), associated or not with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), on the treatment of muscle injury. Thirty-five animals were used and divided into five groups (n = 7): control (C), control lesion (CL), lesion treated with low-level laser therapy (LLLT) (LLt), lesion treated with PRP (LP), and lesion treated with both techniques, LLLT and PRP (LLtP). Muscle injury was induced by stretching the gastrocnemius muscle, and the animals in the LLtP and LP groups received the application of PRP immediately following the injury. The LLLT was applied daily for 7 days. The animals were euthanized 7 days after the injury. Analysis of the NADH/NAD ratio and collagen was performed by Raman spectroscopy; in addition to which, histological analysis of the gastrocnemius muscle was performed. The LLtP group demonstrated a reduction in the area of injury, regenerating cells and a healthy appearance of muscle fibers. The Raman analyses showed a reduction in the NADH/NAD ratio in the CL group, demonstrating oxidative stress, and the collagen presented a reduction in the CL and LLt groups, when compared with the C group. It is concluded that either PBM or PRP, and the association of both, was able to reduce the oxidative stress promoted by injury and modulate collagen production at the site of the injury. Furthermore, although both treatments individually were effective for repairing the damage caused by muscle injury, the association of both demonstrated a better histological aspect.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the longitudinal relationship between overweight and hypertension in school children. METHODS: This cohort study enrolled children 6-8 years of age who were then prospectively followed up over a 24 months period with repeat assessments performed at an interval of 11-13 months. Information on participation in physical education classes in school, sports practice outside of school, and economic status were obtained through questionnaires answered by parents/guardians. The measurement of blood pressure, weight, height, and waist circumference was performed during the serial follow-up visits in school. RESULTS: The proportion of hypertension did not change significantly over the 24 months (7.1% to 8.2%; P = 0.690). However, children with overweight and obesity throughout the period, had a 198% [HR (95% CI) 2.98 (1.40, 6.35)] higher risk of having hypertension diagnosed during follow-up when compared to eutrophic children in the same period. CONCLUSION: The development trajectory of overweight and obesity in children aged 6-8 years was associated with hypertension.

RESUMO

Background: The SARS-CoV virus is a precursor to the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) and has caused millions of deaths worldwide. Although exercise can be a non-pharmacological means for the prevention and treatment of various diseases, the effects on COVID-19 patients are not yet completely clear. Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between physical exercise and symptoms caused by COVID-19. Methods: The present systematic review was sent for evaluation and received the PROSPERO registration protocol-CRD42021257475. The search for studies related to health and physical exercise was carried out in the following databases; the "National Library in Medicine MEDLINE-Ovid", "Embase", "Web of Science", "SportDiscus-Ebsco", and "Scopus". Results: Ten articles were included in the systematic review and the findings demonstrated the protective effects of physical exercise in patients with COVID-19. These effects were observed both in symptoms and in the period of hospitalization. In addition, the results show that the benefits of physical exercise seem to collaborate both in an individual manner and as an alternative to drug therapy. Finally, it was possible to verify the effect of physical exercise on variables, such as quality of life, cardiorespiratory capacity, and immunological biomarkers, and on the symptoms of the new Coronavirus. Conclusions: It is possible to conclude that physical exercise can be a component for the treatment of COVID-19. In addition, it could help to reduce the symptoms and severity of COVID-19, and may be considered as an adjunct to drug therapy in patients contaminated with SARS-CoV-2.

RESUMO

Among the interventions used to prevent osteoporosis in female organisms, strength training (ST) and oxytocin (OT) stand out, as a promising hormone with anabolic action on bone. This study aimed to verify whether the combined action of OT and ST, compared to isolated interventions, potentiates the bone remodeling process of the femoral neck of Wistar rats during periestropause. Forty Wistar rats (18 months) with irregular estrous cycle were randomly distributed into groups: 1-Vehicle (Veh; NaCl 0.15 mol/L ip); 2-Oxytocin (Ot; 134 µg/kg/ip); 3-Strength training (St); 4-Ot + St. The animals of the 1, 2 and 4 groups received two intraperitoneal injections with an interval of 12 h every 30 days, totaling 8 injections at the end of the experimental period (18 to 21 months). The animals in the St and Ot + St groups performed ST on a ladder 3 times a week, maximal voluntary carrying capacity (MVCC) test monthly. After 120 days, the animals were euthanized; the femur was collected for analysis of biomechanical testing, densitometry, bone microtomography, Raman spectroscopy, tissue PCR, and blood for analysis of bone biomarkers, liver damage, and oxidative stress. The main effects in the Ot group were observed in the maximum load and energy in the compression testing (femoral head), and stiffness and energy in the three-points bending testing (femur diaphysis). In addition, the main effects occurred on the bone mineral density (BMD), cortical thickness (Ct.Th), number of pores (Po.N), polar moment of inertia (J), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), and connectivity density (Conn.Dn), Bone alkaline phosphatase (Alp), Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 11b (Opg), Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 11 (Rankl) and Cathepsin K (Ctsk) expression. There was an effect in the tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). In the St group, the main effect was observed on the energy (compression and the three-points bending), stiffness, aBMD, BMD, cortical bone area (Ct.Ar), Po.N, trabecular bone volume (BV/TV), Tb.Th and in the mineralization ratio (ѵ1PO4/proline), Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), Bone morphogenetic protein 2 (Bmp2), Alp, Osteopontin/secreted phosphoprotein 1 (Opn/Spp1), Opg, Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 11ª (Rank), Rankl, Ctsk expression. There was an effect in the TRAP and ALP. The interaction in the combination of therapies in the Ot + St group was verified in energy to maximum load (compression and three-points bending testing), stiffness, BMD, Ct.Th, J, Tb.Th and ѵ1PO4/proline. In the gene analysis there was interaction in the Runx2, Osterix/Sp7 transcription factor (Osx/Sp7), Bmp2, Alp, Osteocalcin/Bone gamma-carboxyglutamate protein (Ocn/Bglap), Opg, Rankl and Acid phosphatase 5, tartrate resistant (Trap/Acp5) expression. In addition, the combination of OT and ST resulted in a higher maximum load compared to the Veh group, with higher BV/TV than the Ot group, higher Rankl and Ctsk expression than Veh and Ot groups, and lower Po.N and lower activity of TRAP than the other groups. In oxidative stress, total antioxidant capacity (TAC) was lower. These results showed that the combination of interventions is a promising anabolic strategy for the prevention of osteoporosis in the period of periestropause, standing out from the effects of isolated interventions.

RESUMO

Body composition can have a significant impact on bone mineral density (BMD) in pediatric patients and may cause bone disease. This study demonstrated that lean soft tissue (LST) seems to have a greater impact on BMD gain in the lower limbs of adolescents. PURPOSE: To analyze the impact of changes in lean soft tissue (LST) and fat mass on areal bone mineral density (BMD) accrual in the lower limbs among adolescents engaged in sports with different weight-bearing levels. METHODS: Longitudinal (12 months: measurements at two time points). Adolescents of both sexes (n = 191; 62 girls [32.5%] and 129 boys [67.5%]) were divided into three groups: control group (n = 65), swimming group (n = 25), and weight-bearing sports group (n = 100). Absolute changes in LST (kg) and fat mass (kg) were the independent variables, while BMD accrual (left and right legs) was the dependent variable. Linear regression was used to assess the relationship between dependent and independent variables in a multivariate model adjusted by sex, body weight, somatic maturation, serum osteocalcin, and baseline values of BMD of the lower limbs. RESULTS: For the left leg, LST was positively related to areal BMD accrual in the control (ß = 0.021 [95%CI: 0.001 to 0.042]) and weight-bearing sport groups (ß = 0.051 [95%CI: 0.037 to 0.065]), but not among swimmers (ß = 0.029 [95%CI: - 0.004 to 0.062]). For the right leg, LST was positively related to areal BMD accrual in the swimming group (ß = 0.065 [95%CI: 0.031 to 0.100]) and weight-bearing sport groups (ß = 0.048 [95%CI: 0.034 to 0.062]), but not in the control group (ß = 0.014 [95%CI: - 0.002 to 0.030]). Fat mass was not significantly related to areal BMD in either leg. CONCLUSIONS: Changes in LST were the most relevant determinant of BMD accrual in the lower limbs, mainly among adolescents engaged in sports.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study was based on filling a gap in our knowledge regarding the issue of what the protective effect of physical exercise on patients within the Brazilian National Health System could be, in relation to low back pain. OBJECTIVES: To determine the prevalence of chronic low back pain (CLBP) and to analyze the protective effect of physical exercise among patients over 50 years old attended at primary healthcare units (PHUs). DESIGN AND SETTING: Analytical cross-sectional study at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) that was conducted in two PHUs (Parque Cedral and Vila Real), located in different regions of the city of Presidente Prudente, Brazil. METHODS: In total, 327 patients were interviewed and evaluated at which retrospective characteristics covering the previous 12 months. The Nordic questionnaire was used to classify CLBP, and the Baecke questionnaire for physical activity level. The body mass index (kg/m2) was calculated using body mass and height values, both collected at the time of the interview. RESULTS: High prevalence of low back pain was found; 175 patients (53.5%) reported having had at least one episode of low back pain in the previous year. Of these, 71 (21.7%) answered yes to all four questions on the Nordic questionnaire and were classified as CLBP. Physical exercise remained associated with CLBP, independent of other factors (odds ratio = 0.35; 95% confidence interval = 0.15-0.80). CONCLUSION: High prevalence of low back pain was identified among PHU users. Physical exercise was associated as an independent protective factor against this pathological condition.

RESUMO

The objective of this study is to identify whether oxytocin (OT) contributes to the reduction of osteopenia in the femoral neck of rats in periestropause. Animals in irregular estrous cycles received two NaCl injections (0.15 mol/L) or OT (134 µg/kg) over a 12-h interval, and after thirty-five days without treatments, the biological sample collection was performed. The oxytocin group (Ot) demonstrated the highest enzymatic activity of alkaline phosphatase (p = 0.0138), lowest enzymatic activity of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (p = 0.0045), higher percentage of compact bone (p = 0.0359), cortical expression of runt-related transcription factor 2 (p = 0.0101), osterix (p = 0.0101), bone morphogenetic protein-2/4 (p = 0.0101) and periostin (p = 0.0455). Furthermore, the mineral-to-matrix ratio (ν1PO4/Proline) was higher and type-B carbonate substitution (CO3/ν1PO4) was lower (p = 0.0008 and 0.0303) in Ot group. The Ot showed higher areal bone mineral density (p = 0.0050), cortical bone area (p = 0.0416), polar moment of inertia, maximum, minimum (p = 0.0480, 0.0480, 0.0035), bone volume fraction (p = 0.0166), connectivity density (p < 0.0001), maximal load (p = 0.0003) and bone stiffness (p = 0.0145). In Ot percentage of cortical pores (p = 0.0102) and trabecular number (p = 0.0088) was lower. The results evidence action of OT in the reduction of osteopenia, suggesting that it is a promising anabolic strategy for the prevention of primary osteoporosis during the periestropause period.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: There is evidence that strength training (ST) and raloxifene (Ral) treatment during periestropause promotes better bone quality. We wanted to determine whether the skeletal benefits of ST or Ral treatment, performed during periestropause, would persist after fracture. Therefore, the present study aimed to analyze the influence of pre-treatment with ST and administration of Ral during periestropause on bone healing after total unilateral osteotomy. METHODS: Senescent female Wistar rats between 18 and 21 months of age, performed ST on a ladder three times per week, were administered Ral by gavage (2.3 mg/kg/day), or an association of both. After 120 days, the treatments were interrupted, and a total osteotomy was performed on the left tibia in all animals. They were euthanized 1 and 8 weeks post-osteotomy. RESULTS: The administration of Ral during periestropause worsened the biochemical and oxidative profile, decreased gene expression of markers related to bone resorption and remodeling, which negatively affected the physicochemical properties; this lead to changes in the bone callus microarchitecture and mass, as well as a decrease in callus resistance to torsional deformation, resulting in lower tissue quality during bone healing. In contrast, ST performed prior to the osteotomy resulted in better bone healing, improvement of the biochemical and oxidative profile, alteration of the genetic profile in favor of bone formation and resorption, as well as the physic-ochemical properties of the callus. These changes led to better microarchitecture and bone mass and increased callus resistance to torsional deformation, confirming its beneficial effect on the quality of bone tissue, providing acceleration of bone consolidation. The combination of therapies at this exercise intensity and drug dosage showed a negative interaction, where the negative effect of Ral overcame the positive effect of ST, leading to decreased tissue quality in the bone healing process. CONCLUSIONS: This study indicates that in addition to excellent non-pharmacological therapy and action in the prevention of osteoporosis, ST performed during the aging period may increase bone quality at the onset of healing and provide improved bone consolidation. Furthermore, the anti-osteoclastogenic effect of Ral shown in this model delayed the bone repair process, resulting in considerable clinical concern.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate alterations from different therapies in muscular injury using the Fractal Dimension (FD) method. METHODS: 35 animals were allocated in Control Group (C), Injury Control Group (IC), Injury Low Level Laser Therapy Group (ILT), Injury Platelet Rich Plasma Group (IP), and Injury LLLT and PRP Group (ILP). The animals suffered a stretch injury in gastrocnemius muscle and after that IP and ILP groups received PRP application. The ILT and ILP groups received daily LLLT applications for seven days. After seven days the animals were euthanized and the gastrocnemius muscle removed and frozen. The muscles were stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE) and Picrosirius Red, for observation of the morphology of the injury and semi-quantitative and quantitative analysis through the Fractal Dimension (FD) method. RESULTS: In the qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis, in relation to IC group, the ILT presented a reduction in rounded fibers and the IP in angular fibers. The ILP group demonstrated a reduction in both polymorphic fibers and inflammatory infiltrate. The FD of the muscles stained with HE was higher in the groups that suffered the injury when compared to the C group (p < 0.05); the FD of the collagen demonstrated no statistical difference between the groups. CONCLUSION: Both treatments were able to accelerate injury repair, and the association of both presented better results than the isolated applications. However, the FD method showed no sensitivity to differentiate the treatments, either in the histological aspects or the injury in collagen.

Introduction: A herniated disc in the lower back is the most common diagnosis among degenerative alterations in the lumbar spine. Various forms of treatment for improvement of lumbar disc herniation, such as anti-inflammatories, physical therapy, acupuncture, antidepressants, morphine, and cognitive behavioral therapy. The physical exercise is an effective, inexpensive, and non-pharmacological tool. Although, there are still several barriers to accepting the use of specific physical exercises outside the clinical environment, such as dance and sports. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the contributions of classical ballet adapted to improve the clinical framework of lumbar disc herniation in a beginner student of classical ballet. Method: The case study composed for one script made by the evaluators was applied to an adult woman with 32 years old, who until that point had not practiced classical ballet. The exercises were performed twice a week (two hours for session) for a period of 13 weeks, totaling 26 sessions, giving a total exposure during the intervention of 52 hours. Results: The magnetic image obtained from medical reports after the intervention found that compared to the previous examination the disc herniation at level L4 L5 was reduced in size. In addition, the visual analog pain scale (EVA) assessment pre intervention was maximum pain and post intervention was no pain. The numeric pain scale rating (NPS) pre intervention was number 9 with pain, and post intervention, number 2 painless. The Faces Pain Scales (FPS) pre intervention had a factor of 6 with pain, and post-intervention factor 2, painless. Conclusion: It is possible to conclude that the present script made by the evaluators was sufficient for cause the of herniation reduction in the evaluated patient post intervention.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Muscle injuries are common, and their treatment requires costs and time off. Platelet rich plasma and low level laser therapy have been shown to be affordable and easy to use. The aim of this study was to evaluate the associated effects of low level laser therapy and platelet rich plasma on the treatment of the soleus muscle injured by strain in rats. METHODS: Thirty-five rats were randomly allocated into five groups: Control (C), Injury Control (IC), injury PRP (IP), injury LLLT (ILT) and injury LLLT and PRP (ILTP). The strain injury was induced in the soleus muscle and the IP group received application of platelet rich plasma immediately after the lesion, while the ILT group received low level laser therapy. After seven days, all animals were euthanized and the soleus muscle removed for further histological analysis. RESULTS: The association of both treatments (ILTP) resulted in better histological aspects than the low level laser therapy and platelet rich plasma alone, when compared with the injury group (IC). The collagen analysis exhibited a significant increase in the ILT group (2.99 SD=1.13) compared to the C (1.88 SD=0.41, p=0.012) and IP (2.04 SD=0.44, p=0.018). CONCLUSION: The association of low level laser therapy with platelet rich plasma produced better results on muscle injury compared to the isolated use of these therapies. Furthermore, none of the treatments could modulate the collagen deposition in relation to injury group.

RESUMO

Prolonged bedrest and microgravity induce alterations to bone, leading to bone fragility and compromising the quality of life. In this study, we characterized the physicochemical changes, microstructure, and biomechanics of the femurs of female adult rats in response to hindlimb unloading for 21 days. Twenty 6-month-old Wistar female rats were distributed into control (CON) and hindlimb unloading (HLU) groups. Analysis the in vivo bone mineral density (BMD) by dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) from the femurs was performed at the beginning and end of the experiment; plasma levels of calcium, phosphorus, and alkaline phosphatase, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase activity, assessed by spectrophotometry, and estradiol, measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, was performed after the experiment. We evaluated changes in the trabecular and cortical structure of the femur, after disuse, by micro-computed tomography with high resolution, for analysis of cortical porosity, Raman spectroscopy to measure the amount of physicochemical properties, and the biomechanical test to estimate the changes in biomechanical properties. Our results demonstrated that, after 21 days, HLU animals had decreased femoral BMD, deteriorated bone microarchitecture, particularly in the cortical compartment, with changes in the physicochemical properties and porosity, and reduced deformation capacity of the bone and resistance to the bone stresses. Nevertheless, this study showed the critical role of mechanical stimulation in maintaining the structure of the skeleton in female adults and that disuse, even for a few days, leads to microscopic changes in the structure of the bone matrix, which increases the risk of fracture.

RESUMO

Abstract Introduction: Alterations caused in the metabolism of those who practice physical exercise regularly generate health benefits, however, in athletes, these alterations can cause muscle damage, so post-recovery recovery methods are extremely important for their physiological maintenance. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of the contrast therapy technique with post-exercise recovery according to professional athletes. Methods: A questionnaire was applied that addressed the technical scientific knowledge of professional athletes over 18 years of age, of both sexes, about post-exerciseffort recovery techniques (PERT), personal information, and ethical issues, on an online platform. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed, with values presented in percentages and an association through the Chi-Square test on the knowledge of PERT and other independent variables. Results: In total, 63 athletes, 15 women and 48 men, answered the online questionnaire, 71.4% were between 18 and 30 years old, including swimmers, footballers, and athletics practitioners, and 85.7% had more than three years' experience in the sport and 57.1% competed at an international level. Considering the main PERTs, 92.1% were aware, 58.7% knew more than four, 96.8% frequently used at least one PERT, and 65.1% had used it for more than three years. Knowledge of PERTs is associated with age (p = 0.001), education (p = 0.001), practice time (p = 0.001), hours of daily training (0.001), and competitive level (p = 0.03). With respect to the use of the contrast technique, 36.5% of the respondents had already used it, and 34.9% found it effective. Conclusion: The athletes who used the contrast technique reported a good perception of recovery.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Right-sided heart failure has high morbidity and mortality, and may be caused by pulmonary arterial hypertension. Fractal dimension is a differentiated and innovative method used in histological evaluations that allows the characterization of irregular and complex structures and the quantification of structural tissue changes. OBJECTIVE: To assess the use of fractal dimension in cardiomyocytes of rats with monocrotaline-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension, in addition to providing histological and functional analysis. METHODS: Male Wistar rats were divided into 2 groups: control (C; n = 8) and monocrotaline-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension (M; n = 8). Five weeks after pulmonary arterial hypertension induction with monocrotaline, echocardiography was performed and the animals were euthanized. The heart was dissected, the ventricles weighed to assess anatomical parameters, and histological slides were prepared and stained with hematoxylin/eosin for fractal dimension analysis, performed using box-counting method. Data normality was tested (Shapiro-Wilk test), and the groups were compared with non-paired Student t test or Mann Whitney test (p < 0.05). RESULTS: Higher fractal dimension values were observed in group M as compared to group C (1.39 ± 0.05 vs. 1.37 ± 0.04; p < 0.05). Echocardiography showed lower pulmonary artery flow velocity, pulmonary acceleration time and ejection time values in group M, suggesting function worsening in those animals. CONCLUSION: The changes observed confirm pulmonary-arterial-hypertension-induced cardiac dysfunction, and point to fractal dimension as an effective method to evaluate cardiac morphological changes induced by ventricular dysfunction.

RESUMO

Abstract Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on the skeletal muscle of Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats (SHR). Method: In total, 20 male rats, SHR, 12 months old, were used, distributed into 2 groups: Control Group (C) and Training Group (HIIT). The training lasted approximately 50 minutes/day, 5 days/week, for 8 weeks. Systolic blood pressure (BP) was measured at the beginning and end of the study. Analysis: The medial gastrocnemius muscle was used to measure the smallest fiber diameter, after which the Shapiro-Wilk normality test was performed, followed by the Mann Whitney test to compare the medians and interquartile intervals (IQI) of the muscle fibers and Student t-test for performance. For analysis of BP, Analysis of Variance - ANOVA was used, followed by Tukey's post-test. All procedures adopted a significance value of 5% (p < 0.05). Results: The median values for the variable "smallest diameter" of muscle fibers were 29.48 (IQI: 9.96) µm in the C group and 33.45 (IQI: 9.44) µm in the HIIT group (p < 0.05). Also, the performance was increased in the trained animal group and blood pressure values decreased significantly at the end of the experiment (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The HIIT intensity promoted an increase in the median values of the muscle fibers and performance. Finally, a significant decrease was observed in blood pressure variation values.

RESUMO

SUMMARY: Intermittent fasting and concurrent training have been performed frequently to decrease body mass. The aim was to analyze the effects of concurrent training (CT) and intermittent fasting (IF) on cardiac remodeling. In total, 39 adult male Wistar rats were used, divided into four groups: control (C [n = 12]), fasting control (FC [n = 11]), training (T [n = 8]) and fasting training (FT [n = 8]). The CT protocol was composed of 12 sessions, with 30 minutes of aerobic training (AT) in the liquid medium at an intensity of 80 % of the anaerobic threshold, followed by resistance training (RT) with 4 series of 10 aquatic jumps at an corresponding to 50 % of body weight. The IF period was established at 12/12 hours, starting at 9 p.m. and ending at 9 a.m. Echocardiographic analyzes were performed before and after the intervention and, at the end of the experiment, samples of the cardiac tissue were collected to perform the histological analyses. Data analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk tests, Analysis of Variance - ANOVA with Tukey's post-test, and Kruskal- Wallis with Dunn's post-test. All procedures assumed an error of 5 % (p<0.05). Neither group showed alterations in the functional (min. p= 0.12 - max. p= 0.83) and structural parameters of the heart (min. p=0.31 - max. p=0.83). A decrease was observed in the area of cardiomyocytes in the T (p=0.001) and FT groups (p=0.001). The CT and IF did not alter the functional and structural parameters of the heart, but did cause a decrease in the area of the cardiomyocytes.

(AU)

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the application of growth hormone (GH) and strength training (TF) on the bone tissue composition of Wistar rats using Raman Spectroscopy. 40 male rats were randomly assigned to four groups: control (C [n = 10]), control the application of GH (GHC [n = 10]), strength training (T [n = 10]) and training of strength and application of GH (GHT [n = 10]). The training consisted of four series of 10 water jumps, performed three times a week, with an overload corresponding to 50% of body weight and lasting four weeks. GH was applied at a dose of 0.2 IU / kg to each animal, three times a week and on alternate days. After four weeks, the animals were euthanized and the right femurs were collected to carry out the analysis of the bone composition. Raman spectroscopy (ER) was used to observe the following compounds from their respective bands: collagen and phospholipid (1445 cm-1), cholesterol (548 cm-1), glycerol (607 cm-1), glucose (913 cm-1), Peak carbohydrate (931 cm-1), proline (918 cm-1). For statistical analysis, the Shapiro-Wilk normality tests and ANOVA One-Way analysis of variances were performed, followed by the Tukey post-test. The results revealed an increase in the concentrations of collagen and phospholipid, cholesterol, glycerol, glucose, peak carbohydrate and proline in all experimental groups, associated or not with the performance of ST and / or application of GH. However, only group T differed significantly from group C (p <0.05). It was concluded that all intervention could promote gain in bone tissue, however, only the T group showed a significant difference in the analyzed mineral compounds. (AU)
