RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the earliest optimal timing for positron emission tomography (PET) scans after 68Ga-fibroblast activation protein inhibitor-04 ([68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04) injection. METHODS: This prospective study enrolled patients who underwent 60-min dynamic 68Ga-FAPI-04 total-body PET/CT scans; the images were reconstructed at 10-min intervals (G0-10, G10-20, G20-30, G30-40, G40-50, and G50-60), and the [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 uptake patterns were evaluated. The standardised uptake value (SUV), liver signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and lesion-to-background ratios (LBRs) for different time windows were calculated to evaluate image quality and lesion detectability. The period from 30 to 40 min was then split into overlapping 5-min intervals starting 1 min apart for further evaluation. G50-60 was considered the reference. RESULTS: A total of 30 patients with suspected malignant tumours were analysed. In the images reconstructed over 10-min intervals, longer acquisition times were associated with lower background uptake and better image quality. Some lesions could not be detected until G30-40. The lesion detection rate, uptake, and LBRs did not differ significantly among G30-40, G40-50, and G50-60 (all p > 0.05). The SUVmean and LBRs of primary tumours in the reconstructed images did not differ significantly among the 5-min intervals between 30 and 40 min; for metastatic and benign lesions, G34-39 and G35-40 showed significantly better SUVmean and LBR values than the other images. The G34-39 and G50-60 scans showed no significant differences in uptake, LBRs, or detection rates (all p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: The earliest optimal time to start acquisition was 34 min after injection of half-dose [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: This study evaluated 68Ga-fibroblast activation protein inhibitor-04 ([68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04) uptake patterns by comparing the image quality and lesion detection rate with 60-min dynamic [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 total-body PET/CT scans and identified the earliest optimal scan time after [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 injection. KEY POINTS: • A prospective single-centre study showed that the earliest optimal time point to start acquisition was 34 min after injection of half-dose [68Ga-fibroblast activation protein inhibitor-04 (68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04). • There were statistically significant differences in standardised uptake value, lesion-to-background ratios, and lesion detectability between scans before and after 34 min from the injection of [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04, but these values did not change further from 34 to 60 min after injection. • With a reasonable acquisition time, the image quality could still meet diagnostic requirements.

RESUMO

Strain provides a powerful method to study 2D monolayers and to tune their properties. The same approach also has great potential for van-der-Waals (vdW) heterostructures. However, we need to understand how strain can be applied to vertically stacked vdW structures, for which strain transfer from one layer to the next remains little explored. In our experiment, we fabricated vertical heterostructures consisting of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) monolayers that were deposited on a flexible substrate. These TMDC heterostructures allowed us to read out separately the strain in each monolayer by photoluminescence measurements. We find that, in TMDC heterostructures with large twist angles (>5°), strain transfer is limited. However, for aligned heterostructures with small twist angles (≤5°), near unity strain transfer efficiency is observed. We correlate this finding with the moiré domains formed in the aligned heterostructures by reconstruction.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To comparatively evaluate the lesion-detecting ability of 2-[18F]FDG total-body PET/CT (TB PET/CT) and conventional digital PET/CT. METHODS: This study enrolled 67 patients (median age, 65 years; 24 female and 43 male patients) who underwent a TB PET/CT scan and a conventional digital PET/CT scan after a single 2-[18F]FDG injection (3.7 MBq/kg). Raw PET data for TB PET/CT were acquired over the course of 5 min, and images were reconstructed using data from the first 1, 2, 3, and 4 min and the entire 5 min (G1, G2, G3, G4, and G5, respectively). The conventional digital PET/CT scan acquired in 2-3 min per bed (G0). Two nuclear medicine physicians independently assessed subjective image quality using a 5-point Likert scale and recorded the number of 2-[18F]FDG-avid lesions. RESULTS: A total of 241 lesions (69 primary lesions; 32 liver, lung, and peritoneum metastases; and 140 regional lymph nodes) among 67 patients with various types of cancer were analyzed. The subjective image quality score and SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) increased gradually from G1 to G5, and these values were significantly higher than the values at G0 (all p < 0.05). Compared to conventional PET/CT, G4 and G5 of TB PET/CT detected an additional 15 lesions (2 primary lesions; 5 liver, lung, and peritoneum lesions; and 8 lymph node metastases). CONCLUSION: TB PET/CT was more sensitive than conventional whole-body PET/CT in detecting small (4.3 mm, maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of 1.0) or low-uptake (tumor-to-liver ratio of 1.6, SUVmax of 4.1) lesions. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: This study explored the gain of the image quality and lesion detectability of TB PET/CT, compared to conventional PET/CT, and recommended the appropriate acquisition time for TB PET/CT in clinical practice with an ordinary 2-[18F] FDG dose. KEY POINTS: • TB PET/CT increases the effective sensitivity to approximately 40 times that of conventional PET scanners. • The subjective image quality score and signal-to-noise ratio of TB PET/CT from G1 to G5 were better than those of conventional PET/CT. • 2-[18F]FDG TB PET/CT with a 4-min acquisition time at a regular tracer dose detected an additional 15 lesions compared to conventional PET/CT.

RESUMO

Organochlorine pesticides are widely used in agriculture, wood preservation, pulp bleaching and other fields, which increased the pollution risk of cultivated land. In this study, a typical organochlorine pesticides-2,4,6-TCP was conducted as the target pollutants to investigated the migration and transformation characteristics in different cultivated soils in China. The results indicated that the adsorption of 2,4,6-TCP in soil samples was in order: black soil>laterite>fluvo-aquic soil, and the maximum adsorption was 71.0870, 27.0575 and 6.1292 mg/kg, respectively. The dispersion coefficient of black soil, laterite and fluvo-aquic soil was 0.0329, 0.0501 and 0.0149, and the hysteretic factor R was 5.381, 1.455 and 2.238, respectively, indicating that the migration ability of 2,4,6-TCP in different cultivated soils samples was in order: black soil>laterite>fluvo-aquic soil. The fitting results of one-dimensional migration model indicated that the model well reflected the migration and transformation of 2,4,6-TCP in different cultivated soil samples. Meanwhile, the Two-dimensional migration model fitting results indicated that the maximum concentration of 2,4,6-TCP of different cultivated soil samples were found along the longitudinal flow direction, reaching 40% of the initial pollution concentration at 15 m, corresponding to the center of the pollutant plume.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To explore the diagnostic performance of EFSUMB CEUS Pancreatic Applications guidelines (version 2017) before and after the addition of iso-enhancement and very fast/fast washout as supplementary diagnostic criteria for PDAC. METHODS: In this retrospective study, patients diagnosed with solid pancreatic lesions from January 2017 to December 2020 were evaluated. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is reported to show hypo-enhancement in all phases according to the EFSUMB guidelines. First, based on this definition, all lesions were categorized as PDAC and non-PDAC. Then, iso-enhancement and very fast/fast washout were added as supplementary diagnostic criteria, and all lesions were recategorized. The diagnostic performance was assessed in terms of the accuracy (ACC), sensitivity (SEN), specificity (SPE), positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV). The reference standard consisted of histologic evaluation or composite imaging and clinical follow-up findings. RESULTS: A total of 455 nodules in 450 patients (median age, 58.37 years; 250 men) were included. The diagnostic performance using the EFSUMB CEUS guidelines for PDAC had an ACC of 69.5%, SEN of 65.4%, SPE of 84%, PPV of 93.5%, NPV of 40.6%, and ROC of 0.747. After recategorization according to the supplementary diagnostic criteria, the diagnostic performance for PDAC had an ACC of 95.8%, SEN of 99.2%, SPE of 84%, PPV of 95.7%, NPV of 96.6%, and ROC of 0.916. CONCLUSION: The EFSUMB guidelines and recommendations for pancreatic lesions can effectively identify PDAC via hypo-enhancement on CEUS. However, the diagnostic performance may be further improved by the reclassification of PDAC lesions after adding iso-enhancement and very fast/fast washout mode. KEY POINTS: • In the EFSUMB guidelines, the only diagnostic criterion for PDAC is hypo-enhancement, to which iso-enhancement and very fast/fast washout mode were added in our research. • Using hypo-enhancement/iso-enhancement with very fast/fast washout patterns as the diagnostic criteria for PDAC for solid pancreatic masses on CEUS has high diagnostic accuracy. • The blood supply pattern of PDAC can provide important information, and CEUS has unique advantages in this respect due to its real-time dynamic attenuation ability.

RESUMO

Although the contamination of microplastics (MPs) in groundwater has been anticipated, their occurrence, distribution, and composition require further understanding. In this study, the occurrence and distributions of MPs were investigated in shallow groundwater from an important water source district in Tianjin city of northern China. The abundance, the physical morphology, the chemical composition, and the potential correlations of the determined MPs with human activities were thoroughly characterized. MPs were determined from all ten sampling sites with the abundance ranged between 17.0 ± 2.16 to 44.0 ± 1.63 n/L, revealing the ubiquitous existed MPs contamination. Based on the physical categorization, fiber (44.74%) was the most abundant shape, while blue (31.02%) and transparent (26.09%) were the most prevalent colors. The dominant size of MPs was smaller than 200 µm which accounted for 73.10%. A total of seven types of MPs were determined with polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, and polystyrene as the main types, of which, polypropylene showed strong positive correlations with polystyrene, indicating the possible similar sources of them. Besides, the determined MPs in groundwater were greater in areas with the high population density and strong population activity, indicating their high correlation with human activity. The study highlighted the presence of MPs in groundwater of drinking water source in northern China and provided useful information for evaluating the potential ecological effects on water quality safety and human health brought by MPs.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To explore the potential parameters from preoperative 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT that might associate with the World Health Organization/the International Society of Urological Pathology (WHO/ISUP) grade in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). METHODS: One hundred twenty-five patients with newly diagnosed ccRCC who underwent 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT prior to surgery or biopsy were retrospectively reviewed. The metabolic parameters and imaging features obtained from 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT examinations were analyzed in combination with clinical characteristics. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the predictive factors of WHO/ISUP grade. RESULTS: Metabolic parameters of primary tumor maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), tumor-to-liver SUV ratio (TLR), and tumor-to-kidney SUV ratio (TKR) were significantly different between any two of the four different WHO/ISUP grades, except those between the WHO/ISUP grade 3 and grade 4. The optimal cutoff values to predict high WHO/ISUP grade for SUVmax, TLR, and TKR were 4.15, 1.63, and 1.59, respectively. TLR (AUC: 0.841) was superior to TKR (AUC: 0.810) in distinguishing high and low WHO/ISUP grades (P = 0.0042). In univariate analysis, SUVmax, TLR, TKR, primary tumor size, tumor thrombus, distant metastases, and clinical symptoms could discriminate between the high and low WHO/ISUP grades (P < 0.05). In multivariate analysis, TLR (P < 0.001; OR: 1.732; 95%CI: 1.289-2.328) and tumor thrombus (P < 0.001; OR: 6.199; 95%CI: 2.499-15.375) were significant factors for differentiating WHO/ISUP grades. CONCLUSION: Elevated TLR (> 1.63) and presence of tumor thrombus from preoperative 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT can distinguish high WHO/ISUP grade ccRCC effectively. 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT may be a feasible method for noninvasive assessment of WHO/ISUP grade.

RESUMO

Arg-Arg-Leu (RRL) is a potent tumor-homing tripeptide. However, the binding target is unclear. In this study, we intended to identify the binding target of RRL and evaluate the tumor targeting of 99mTc-MAG3-RRL in vivo. Biotin-RRL, 5-TAMRA-RRL, and 99mTc-MAG3-RRL were designed to trace the binding target and tumor lesion. Immunoprecipitation-mass spectrometry was conducted to identify the candidate proteins and determination of the subcellular localization was also performed. A pull-down assay was performed to demonstrate the immunoprecipitate. Fluorescence colocalization and cell uptake assays were performed to elucidate the correlation between the selected binding protein and RRL, and the internalization mechanism of RRL. Biodistribution and in vivo imaging were performed to evaluate the tumor accumulation and targeting of 99mTc-MAG3-RRL. The target for RRL was screened to be heat shock protein 70 (HSP70). The prominent uptake distribution of RRL was concentrated in the membrane and cytoplasm. A pull-down assay demonstrated the existence of HSP70 in the biotin-RRL captured complex. Regarding fluorescence colocalization and cell uptake assays, RRL may interact with HSP70 at the nucleotide-binding domain (NBD). Clathrin-dependent endocytosis and macropinocytosis could be a vital internalization mechanism of RRL. In vivo imaging and biodistribution both demonstrated that 99mTc-MAG3-RRL can trace tumors with satisfactory accumulation in hepatoma xenograft mice. The radioactive signals accumulated in tumor lesions can be blocked by VER-155008, which can bind to the NBD of HSP70. Our findings revealed that RRL may interact with HSP70 and that 99mTc-MAG3-RRL could be a prospective probe for visualizing overexpressed HSP70 tumor sections.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To identify and understand parathyroid lesions of patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) more accurately under ultrasound. METHODS: This retrospective study involved 423 adult patients with PHPT with a single parathyroid nodule and positive parathyroid ultrasonography between 2018 and 2019. The clinical characteristics of the study patients and histopathologic sections were reviewed. RESULTS: According to the main grayscale echogenicity features of parathyroid nodules, 423 cases were divided into groups: iso-hyperechogenicity solid (61/423), hypoechogenicity solid (304/423), and mixed-echogenicity cyst-solid (58/423) groups. Comparison among the 3 groups showed that the iso-hyperechogenicity group included more asymptomatic patients with PHPT and fewer patients with severe symptoms like bone fractures (P < .05). The mixed-echogenicity group showed higher median serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) and serum calcium levels and larger lesion sizes (P < .05), and the iso-hyperechogenicity group showed the lowest median serum PTH level. No difference in lesion size was noted between the 2 solid groups, but the median serum PTH level in the hypoechogenicity group was higher than that in the iso-hyperechogenicity group (P < .05). According to histopathology, the hypoechogenic area of the samples may contain more functional components (chief cells), whereas the iso-hyperechogenic area has more nonfunctional components (eg, lipocytes and connective tissues). CONCLUSION: The PHPT nodules distinguished by ultrasound echogenicity features showed different histopathologic components, reflected by different clinical characteristics of the patients with PHPT.

RESUMO

Thiobacillus sp. H1 was isolated and made into solid bacterial agent. The Thiobacillus sp. H1 agent was dosed into two reactor (all the agent dosed one-time, and multi-dosing bacteria evenly) and run for 40 days, a start-up with no microbial agent bioreactor as control. We found that the operational performance of multi-dosing inoculum reactor was stable, and the amount of elemental sulfur produced remained stable at 143.2-152.3 mg/L. The amount of elemental sulfur generated in the reactor without the addition of the inoculum was gradually increased, and the amount of elemental sulfur generated in the reactor with the inoculum added at one-time was decreased. Two kinds of Thiobacillus gen. and unclassified betaproteobacteria that coordinated the overall community function in the autotrophic denitrification desulfurization system with high-throughput sequencing. The trend of FccAB gene in each bioreactor was similar with the trend of elemental sulfur in the effluent. On the 5th day, the copy number of FccAB in bioreactor II was the highest among the three bioreactors, reaching 11.8 log copies L/g. This study explores the possibility of artificially synthesized denitrifying desulfurization flora in the future.

RESUMO

Large-scale use of ammonia, sulphate, and nitrate in industrial manufacturing has resulted in the generation of industrial wastewater pollutants. However, approaches to eliminate such contamination have not been extensively studied. Accordingly, in this study, we investigated the succession of bacteria under different influent loadings in a mixotrophic denitrification desulphurisation system. Four expanded granular sludge bed reactors were operated simultaneously. The sulphide loading of reactor I was 1.2 kg/m3‧day, the sulphide load of reactor II was 2.4 kg/m3‧day, and the sulphide load of reactor III was 3.6 kg/m3‧day. The molar ratio of carbon versus nitrogen in the influent under each condition was fixed at 1.26:1, and the molar ratio of sulphur versus nitrogen was fixed at 5:6; each reactor was operated for 90 days. Reactor IV was a verification reactor. The three conditions were repeated, and each condition was operated for 90 days. Middle- and late-stage samples under each condition were sequenced using a high-throughput sequencer. Azoarcus, Thauera, Arcobacter, and Pseudomonas were the core genera of the denitrification desulphurisation system under mixotrophic conditions. The genus Azoarcus was a cornerstone genus of mixotrophic conditions, as demonstrated using the random forest model and correlation network analysis.

RESUMO

Lung cancer is primarily caused by cigarette smoking and the leading cancer killer in the USA and across the world. Early detection of lung cancer by low-dose CT (LDCT) can reduce the mortality. However, LDCT dramatically increases the number of indeterminate pulmonary nodules (PNs), leading to overdiagnosis. Having a definitive preoperative diagnosis of malignant PNs is clinically important. Using microarray and droplet digital PCR to directly profile plasma miRNA expressions of 135 patients with PNs, we identified 11 plasma miRNAs that displayed a significant difference between patients with malignant versus benign PNs. Using multivariate logistic regression analysis of the molecular results and clinical/radiological characteristics, we developed an integrated classifier comprising two miRNA biomarkers and one radiological characteristic for distinguishing malignant from benign PNs. The classifier had 89.9% sensitivity and 90.9% specificity, being significantly higher compared with the biomarkers or clinical/radiological characteristics alone (all p < 0.05). The classifier was validated in two independent sets of patients. We have for the first time shown that the integration of plasma biomarkers and radiological characteristics could more accurately identify lung cancer among indeterminate PNs. Future use of the classifier could spare individuals with benign growths from the harmful diagnostic procedures, while allowing effective treatments to be immediately initiated for lung cancer, thereby reduces the mortality and cost. Nevertheless, further prospective validation of this classifier is warranted.

RESUMO

(1) Background: The great potential of RNA interference (RNAi)-based gene therapy is premised on the effective delivery of small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) to target tissues and cells. Hence, we aimed at developing and examining a novel integrin αvß3-specific delivery carrier for targeted transfection of siRNA to malignant tumor cells; (2) Methods: Arginine-glycine-aspartate motif (RGD) was adopted as a tissue target for specific recognition of integrin αvß3. To enable siRNA binding, a chimeric peptide was synthesized by adding nonamer arginine residues (9R) at the carboxy terminus of cyclic-RGD dimer, designated as c(RGD)2-9R. The efficiency of 9R peptide transferring siRNA was biologically evaluated in vitro by flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and Western blot; (3) Results: An optimal 10:1 molar ratio of c(RGD)2-9R to siRNA was confirmed by the electrophoresis on agarose gels. Both the flow cytometry and confocal microscopy results testified that transfection of c(RGD)2-9R as an siRNA delivery carrier was obviously higher than the naked-siRNA group. The results of Western blot demonstrated that these 9R peptides were able to transduce siRNA to HepG2 cells in vitro, resulting in efficient gene silencing; and (4) Conclusion: The chimeric peptide of c(RGD)2-9R can be developed as an effective siRNA delivery carrier and shows potential as a new strategy for RNAi-based gene therapy.

RESUMO

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been considered as important biomarkers for malignant tumors. In this study, we introduced an improved (99m)Tc labeling method for noninvasive visualization of overexpressed miRNAs in tumor-bearing mice. Anti-miRNA-21 oligonucleotide (AMO) with partial 2'-O-methyl and phosphorothioate modification was designed and chemically synthesized. After conjugated with NHS-MAG3, AMO was labeled with (99m)Tc. Optimization was made to shorten reaction time and to improve labeling efficiency. Labeling efficiency was 97%, and specific activity was 2.78 MBq/ng. During 12 h, (99m)Tc-AMO showed no significant degradation by gel electrophoresis. Its radiochemical purity was stable, between 95.8% and 99.1%. Further, (99m)Tc-AMO decreased the level of miR-21 and increased the expression of PTEN protein at cellular level, shown by qRT-PCR and Western blot. Fluorescent protein labeled AMO displayed specific distribution and good stability in tumor cells. After the administration in tumor-bearing mice, (99m)Tc-AMO showed more radioactive uptake in the miR-21 over-expressed tumors than scramble control. Biodistribution results further proved the significant difference of tumor uptake between (99m)Tc-AMO and (99m)Tc-control. Therefore, this study presents an improved method with shorten time to prepare a (99m)Tc radiolabeled AMO. In addition, it supports the role of (99m)Tc-AMO for noninvasive visualization of miR-21 in malignant tumors.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: A 72-year-old man presented with a painless penile mass for 3 months. Contrast-enhanced CT revealed heterogeneous enhancement, whereas 18 F-FDG PET/CT displayed inhomogeneous 18 F-FDG accumulation in the lesion without other abnormal activity. The histopathological examination from biopsied specimen confirmed the diagnosis of a plasmacytoma. However, the subsequent tests, including serum/urine immunofixation electrophoresis, serum/urine free light chain assay, and bone marrow smear/biopsy, did not show any abnormalities. The conclusive diagnosis was a solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma of the penis.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: A 72-year-old woman, who was a nonsmoker, presented with chest distress persisting for over 10 days. Plain chest CT revealed thickening of the left pleura accompanied by hydrothorax. Subsequent 18F-FDG PET/CT showed irregular thickening involving the visceral, parietal, and interlobular pleura on the left side, with diffuse high avidity of 18F-FDG. The left pleural mesothelioma was suspected initially, but pathological examination from biopsied specimen later confirmed a thoracic SMARCA4-deficient undifferentiated tumor.

RESUMO

Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) originates from primitive mesenchymal cells and is the most common soft tissue tumor in childhood. 18F-fluoro-deoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) has been reported to be valuable in RMS staging and risk stratification. Paratesticular RMS is a relatively uncommon form of RMS, most of which are of the embryonal histologic type. Paratesticular alveolar RMS is associated with aggressive behavior, high metastatic potential, and poor outcomes. To the best of our knowledge, 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging findings of paratesticular alveolar RMS have never been described. Here, we report on a 16-year-old boy's rare paratesticular alveolar RMS with multiple metastases and its findings on 18F-FDG PET/CT. This case also demonstrates the potential value of 18F-FDG PET/CT in RMS staging and treatment decisions, and may aid in the differential diagnosis.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: Dedifferentiated liposarcoma is an extremely rare and highly malignant tumor. We demonstrated a case of a 75-year-old man with significantly PSMA-avid and mildly FDG uptake-dedifferentiated liposarcoma in the retroperitoneal area. The double-tracer (PSMA and FDG) PET scans could further contribute to differential diagnosis and the following treatment strategy for patients who were suspected with prostate cancer metastases and other malignant tumors simultaneously.

RESUMO

To investigate the role of sugar metabolism in desiccation-sensitive seeds, we performed a natural desiccation treatment on Phoebe chekiangensis seeds in a room and systematically analyzed the changes in seed germination, sugar compounds, malondialdehyde, and relative electrical conductivity during the seed desiccation. The results revealed that the initial moisture content of P. chekiangensis seed was very high (37.06%) and the seed was sensitive to desiccation, the germination percentage of the seed decreased to 5.33% when the seed was desiccated to 22.04% of moisture content, therefore, the seeds were considered recalcitrant. Based on the logistic model, we know that the moisture content of the seeds is 29.05% when the germination percentage drops to 50% and that it is desirable to keep the seed moisture content above 31.74% during ambient transportation. During seed desiccation, sucrose and trehalose contents exhibited increasing trends, and raffinose also increased during the late stage of desiccation, however, low levels of the non-reducing sugar accumulations may not prevent the loss of seed viability caused by desiccation. Glucose and fructose predominated among sugar compounds, and they showed a slight increase followed by a significant decrease. Their depletion may have contributed to the accumulation of sucrose and raffinose family oligosaccharides. Correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship between the accumulation of sucrose, trehalose, and soluble sugars, and the reduction in seed viability. Sucrose showed a significant negative correlation with glucose and fructose. Trehalose also exhibited the same pattern of correlation. These results provided additional data and theoretical support for understanding the mechanism of sugar metabolism in seed desiccation sensitivity.
