[Necrotizing histiocytic lymphadenitis (Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease) in a 7-year-old girl]. / Linfadenitis histiocitaria necrotizante (enfermedad de Kikuchi-Fujimoto) en niña de 7 años.

Kikuchi-Fujimoto's disease is a rare self-limited condition of young adults that usually involves the cervical lymph nodes and is associated with fever, rash and some haematological alterations. Diagnosis is based on characteristic pathologic findings that permit differentiation of this disease from lymphoma, systemic lupus erythematous and infectious lymphadenopathies. We describe a case of 7 year-old female presenting with cervical localization of Kikuchi-Fujimoto's disease. To our knowledge, this case results the earliest affection of this disease. Our proposal with this article is to remind the pediatricians and pediatric surgeons of this poorly recognized entity when children ask for cervical masses and fever.

Reporting one case of pseudocyst of the auricle in a young male, 18, white and wealthy, diagnosed and treated. Bibliographical review of this condition and explanation of its etiopathogenetic, clinic and therapeutical characteristics, as well. This deformity seems to be more prevalent as the number of published cases may suggest.

[Retropharyngeal abscess]. / Absceso retrofaríngeo.

We present 2 cases of retropharyngeal abscess in adults as complication of acute tonsillitis and cervical pyogenic osteomyelitis, respectively. These cases confirm that retropharyngeal abscess has a significant morbi-mortality despite of new antibiotic drugs introduced. A review of the present characteristics of the complaint is treated in this paper.

[Peripheral facial palsy associated with rhinopharyngeal tumor]. / Parálisis facial periférica asociada a neoplasia de rinofaringe

Peripheral facial paralysis from tumoral origin is scarce in number, in spite of possible manifold causative growths. One case in which the palsy was associated to a rhinopharyngeal neoplasm is reported and possible ways of nerve involvement discussed. Although progression seems to be the most probable hypothesis in this instance, only the anatomo-pathological exam has affirmative value.

[Facial paralysis. Result of our electroneurographic studies]. / Parálisis facial. Nuestros resultados en el estudio electroneurográfico.

The Electroneurography (ENoG) is one of the most employed electrodiagnostical techniques in the appraisal of acute facial palsies (AFP). Since 1989 we have to resort systematically to this exploration in our ENT-Department, which task previously was province of the Neurophysiological Service. On accordance with the exam's results we then express the prognostic, regarding the seriousness of the paralysis, and so settle the indication or the abstention for the rehabilitative treatment. We report here a review of 92 APF's seen during 1990 and consider their evolutive course which is compared with that in advance supposed to be. In the light of our final results we venture to say that ENoG, in our hands, is a good prognostical indicator and also is an adequate standard of judgement in order to recommend the rehabilitative management of AFP.

[Tonsillolithiasis]. / Tonsilolitiasis.

A 43-year-old female patient complaining with odynophagy since a month and a half without response to the medical treatment is presented. The pharynx exam showed an asymmetric swelling in the right tonsillar surface and the radiology provided evidence of calcareous concretions as responsible cause of the picture.

[Pilomatrixoma of the auricle. Differential diagnosis with carcinoma pilomatrixoma]. / Pilomatrixoma de pabellón auricular. Diagnóstico diferencial con el carcinoma pilomatrixial.

A 34 year-old man, with a two centimeter diameter quickly growing nodule on the auricular pavillion is presented. After mass excision the histologic diagnosis of pilomatrixoma was made. Pilomatrixoma is a rare benign tumor arising on the hair matrix. The differential diagnosis include pilomatrix carcinoma, a locally and recurrent aggressive tumor capable to make pulmonary metastasis. A review of the literature is included, with emphasis on the clinical and histopathological aspects and the therapeutic attitude.
