RESUMO

Spontaneous rupture of a liver haemangioma is a rare but life-threatening acute clinical situation following haemorrhage within the liver, the subcapsular space and the peritoneal cavity in cases of capsular rupture. Rupture of a liver haemangioma has been reported to occur spontaneously in the majority of cases. In the past, prompt surgical treatment was recommended but was associated with high morbidity and mortality. Currently, conservative management and, in cases of recurrent haemorrhage, delayed surgery may be proposed. We report a case of spontaneous rupture of hepatic haemangioma treated by arterial embolisation and conservative means. The literature is also reviewed.

RESUMO

Evaluation of coronary artery bypass graft patency by intra-arterial digital subtraction angiography was performed in 201 patients. A first group of 150 asymptomatic patients was systematically evaluated for post-operative screening 8.5 days after surgery as an immediate check on surgical results. Grafts were found occluded in 2.3%. A second group of 51 patients complaining of recurrent angina was studied 10 months (range 2 months to 9 years) after operation. Angiography revealed that 90% of grafts were patent but 8 grafts stenoses were diagnosed. In both groups, opacification of the run-off was achieved in 83%, but the quality of opacification was very low.

RESUMO

Renal angiography is certainly not the first examination to be done in case of hypertension. Its interest remains however high. It allows to demonstrate without doubt the reality of a significant stenosis. It can also be associated with a therapeutic procedure. The indications, with practical modalities, results and eventual complications are described below in two different parts: diagnostic and therapeutic.

RESUMO

We report a case of congenital, bilateral absence of the internal carotid artery accompanied by a complex anastomotic plexus arising from the right maxillary artery, a terminal branch of the external carotid artery. We present the clinical features and the radiological diagnostic evidence which consisted of ultrasonography, brain CT and MRI, conventional angiography and skull base CT scan. We review the literature pertaining to this congenital anomaly and correlate embryology of the carotid arteries to this unusual type of collateral circulation.
