RESUMO

This paper examines the valuation effect of capital account liberalization. Using an event study approach and the policy announcement for RMB Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (short for RQFII) as the event date, we find that overall, the stock market responded positively to the capital account liberalization announcement. In addition, we provide some heterogeneity that firms with more stringent financing constraints earn higher returns than their counterparts. Finally, existing local institutions play an important role in determining announcement returns.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: Hidradenocarcinoma is quite rare in clinical practice. Herein, we describe the 68 Ga-FAPI and 18 F-FDG PET/CT findings of hidradenocarcinoma of the head and neck in a 75-year-old man. In the present case, the primary tumor and secondary lesions showed intense accumulation of 68 Ga-FAPI but only slight 18 F-FDG uptake. This case demonstrates that 68 Ga-FAPI PET/CT might be used as a helpful tool for evaluating hidradenocarcinoma.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: DOTA-ibandronic acid (IBA) is a novel precursor targeting bone metastasis. It can be radiolabeled with 68 Ga for the diagnosis of bone metastases. However, extraosseous lesions can also show increased DOTA-IBA uptake. We report the 68 Ga-DOTA-IBA PET/CT findings in a case with cholangiocarcinoma with multiple bone metastases. 68 Ga-DOTA-IBA PET/CT revealed increased uptake of DOTA-IBA in bone metastases. Besides, symmetrical and diffuse increased DOTA-IBA uptake in bilateral salivary glands was observed. 99m TcO 4- salivary gland scintigraphy showed impaired salivary gland function.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study aimed to explore the feasibility of [68 Ga]pentixafor positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). PROCEDURES: This prospective study included patients with NPC who underwent [68 Ga]pentixafor PET/CT and 2-[18F]fuoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose ([18F]FDG) PET/CT within one week between November 2022 and March 2023. The [68 Ga]pentixafor and [18F]FDG uptakes in primary and metastatic lesions were measured and compared. RESULTS: Twenty-five participants (21 patients for initial stage and four patients for recurrence detection) were enrolled in our study. The participants underwent [18F]FDG PET/CT and [68 Ga]pentixafor PET/CT. [68 Ga]pentixafor PET/CT had the same detection rate as [18F]FDG for primary tumor (96% vs. 96%). The [68 Ga]pentixafor maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) and target-to-background ratio (TBR) of primary tumors were lower than those of [18F]FDG (SUVmax: 8.13 ± 2.78 vs. 14.25 ± 6.45; P < 0.01; TBR: 5.17 ± 2.14 vs. 9.81 ± 5.30, P < 0.01). The difference between tumor volume of [68 Ga]pentixafor (TVpentixafor) and tumor volume of [18F]FDG (TVFDG) showed no significance (median: 16.01 vs. 9.56, P = 0.332). In the detection of suspected metastatic cervical lymph nodes (CLNs), [68 Ga]pentixafor PET possessed a lower SUVmax than [18F]FDG PET/CT (SUVmax: 6.86 ± 2.63 vs. 10.39 ± 5.28, P < 0.01), but there was no significant difference in the detection rate between [68 Ga]pentixafor and [18F]FDG PET/CT (96 vs. 98, P = 0.613). CONCLUSIONS: [68 Ga]pentixafor is a promising imaging tracer for detecting primary and metastatic NPC. [68 Ga]pentixafor PET/CT is comparable to [18F]FDG PET/CT in the detection rate of primary tumors and metastatic cervical lymph nodes in nasopharyngeal carcinoma, but [68 Ga]pentixafor uptake was heterogeneous. [68 Ga]pentixafor PET/CT may help select patients most likely to benefit from CXCR4-directed endoradiotherapy. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION NO: ChiCTR2200065902.

RESUMO

This paper investigates the direct and spillover portfolio effects from the global outbreak of COVID-19. We find that an increase of the newly added cases of one specific country causes investors to significantly decrease their portfolio allocations in the outbreak countries (direct effect). Simultaneously, investors also decrease their allocations to other countries (spillover effect). In addition, we provide evidence and documentation that the transmission mechanism underlying foreign exposures matter to the above-mentioned portfolio effect. Moreover, we provide evidence for phase heterogeneity. The first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has significant direct and spillover portfolio effects, but the impacts are weakened in second wave of the pandemic. The capital reallocation effect occurs only when the disease becomes global. Finally, our heterogeneities analysis shows that both local and spillover effects are mitigated when the economies are more developed and democratic and when the country has better health care facilities.

RESUMO

Pseudomonas plecoglossicida is a temperature-dependent opportunistic pathogen mediating visceral granulomas in many piscine species including the large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) but the underlying mechanisms are unclear. RpoE is an alternative sigma (σ) factor involved in regulated intramembrane proteolytic (RIP) cascade, enabling bacterial pathogens to coordinate the expression of genetic traits associated with stress adaptation and virulence determinants in response to diverse stimuli in vitro and in vivo of the hosts. In this study, genes associated to RIP cascade in P. plecoglossicida were identified and characterized to show various sequence similarities to their counterparts in Escherichia coli and P. aeruginosa. The expression of P. plecoglossicida RIP locus was induced by higher temperatures. Moreover, RNA sequencing approach revealed that RpoE regulated the expression of ∼297 and ∼261 genes at virulent (18 °C) and non-virulent (28 °C) temperatures, respectively. RpoE regulon genes are involved in various processes associated with bacterial signal transduction, membrane homeostasis, energy metabolism and virulence. In particular, RpoE positively controlled expression of csrA encoding an RNA binding protein essential for central carbon metabolism. In addition, P. plecoglossicida RpoE was validated to regulate type VI secretion system (T6SS) expression, bacteria competition, biofilm formation and reproduction in macrophages. Collectively, RpoE-centered RIP cascade appeared to play important roles in control of the expression of genes involved in adaptation in vivo and in vitro niches by thermal sensing in P. plecoglossicida. These results facilitates to reveal the pathogenic mechanisms of P. plecoglossicida causing fish diseases and provides new perspectives to control bacterial infection.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study aimed to explore the imaging value of 68 Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT in synovitis, acne, pustulosis, hyperostosis, and osteitis (SAPHO) syndrome and compare it with that of 99m Tc-MDP bone scan. METHODS: Nineteen participants with SAPHO syndrome underwent 68 Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT and 99m Tc-MDP bone scan. Demographic data and clinical features were recorded, SAPHO imaging features were analyzed, and the osteoarticular lesion detection rate in both methods was calculated. RESULTS: This prospective study recruited 4 men and 15 women aged 52.4 ± 8.6 years. The anterior chest wall was involved in all participants (100%). Palmoplantar pustulosis was the most common (36.8%) skin symptom. 99m Tc-MDP bone scan and 68 Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT together detected 84 osteoarticular lesions, of which 91.7% (77/84) were detected by the former and 96.4% (81/84) by the latter. Furthermore, 68 Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT detected 5 cases of knee and hip joint synovitis. CONCLUSIONS: 68 Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT was more sensitive than 99m Tc-MDP bone scan when evaluating osteoarticular lesions in SAPHO syndrome and could also evaluate synovial lesions. 68 Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT could be a good imaging method for SAPHO syndrome but requires further verification in a more extensive research cohort.

RESUMO

Purpose: This retrospective study aimed to investigate 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG)-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) as a predictor of response to hypofractionated radiotherapy (HFRT) combined with programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) blockade for lung cancer. Methods: We included 41 patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in this study. PET/CT was performed before (SCAN-0) and one month (SCAN-1), three months (SCAN-2), and six months (SCAN-3) after treatment. Using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer 1999 criteria and PET response criteria in solid tumors, treatment responses were classified as complete metabolic response (CMR), partial metabolic response (PMR), stable metabolic disease (SMD), or progressive metabolic disease (PMD). Patients were further categorized as those with metabolic benefits (MB; SMD, PMR, and CMR) and those without MBs (NO-MB; PMD). We analyzed the prognosis and overall survival (OS) of patients with new visceral/bone lesions during treatment. Based on the findings, we generated a nomogram to predict survival. Receiver operating characteristics and calibration curves were used to evaluate the accuracy of the prediction model. Results: The mean OS based on SCANs 1, 2, and 3 was significantly higher in patients with MB and those without new visceral/bone lesions. The prediction nomogram for survival had a high area under the curve and a high predictive value based on the receiver operating characteristics and calibration curves. Conclusion: 18FDG-PET/CT has the potential to predict the outcomes of HFRT combined with PD-1 blockade in NSCLC. Therefore, we recommend using a nomogram to predict patient survival.

RESUMO

Importance: Adrenal vein sampling (AVS) is the recommended procedure for subtyping primary aldosteronism (PA) as unilateral PA (UPA) or bilateral PA (BPA), with different treatment needed for each: adrenalectomy for UPA and medication for BPA. However, AVS is invasive and technically difficult, and how to subtype PA noninvasively is currently a great challenge. Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of gallium-68 pentixafor positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) in subtyping PA using AVS as a reference standard. Design, Setting, and Participants: This diagnostic study was conducted at a tertiary hospital in China among patients diagnosed with PA. Enrollment was started in November 2021, with follow-up ending in May 2022. Exposures: : Patients were recruited to undergo gallium-68 pentixafor PET-CT and AVS. Main Outcomes and Measures: Maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of each adrenal gland during PET-CT was measured to calculate the lateralization index of SUVmax. Area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC), specificity, and sensitivity were used to analyze the accuracy of the lateralization index based on SUVmax for subtyping PA. Results: Among 100 patients with PA who completed the study (47 female [47.0%] and 53 male [53.0%]; median [IQR] age, 49 [38-56] years), 43 individuals had UPA and 57 individuals had BPA. Aldosterone-cortisol ratio (Spearman ρ = 0.26; P < .001) in adrenal veins was positively correlated with SUVmax of adrenal glands at 10 minutes during PET-CT. Using lateralization index based on SUVmax at 10 minutes to identify UPA, the AUROC was 0.90 (95% CI, 0.83-0.97). A cutoff value for lateralization index based on SUVmax at 10 minutes set at 1.65 conferred a specificity of 1.00 (95% CI, 0.94-1.00) and sensitivity of 0.77 (95% CI, 0.61-0.88). The diagnostic concordance rate of PET-CT and AVS was 90 patients (90.0%) compared with 54 patients (54.0%) between traditional CT and AVS. Conclusions and Relevance: This study found good diagnostic accuracy of gallium-68 pentixafor PET-CT in differentiating UPA from BPA. These findings suggest that gallium-68 pentixafor PET-CT may be used to avoid invasive AVS in some patients with PA.

RESUMO

We study how a public health crisis affects the corporate sector at different phases of outbreak. Using an event study approach, we find significant valuation effects in a sample of Chinese listed firms following two symbolic events in the outbreak of COVID-19: (1) the lockdown of Hubei province; and (2) the containment of the disease in China and its spread to overseas. Market responded negatively (positively) to the first (second) event. Regression analysis further reveals that, following the first event, firms with Hubei (foreign) exposures earned significantly lower (higher) returns. Foreign exposures, however, had significantly negative effects on returns following the second event. The valuation effects of Hubei and foreign exposures also vary across firm ownership and industries. Our results indicate that, in a globalized world, firms' international status, internal networks and input-output linkages all play important roles in determining their exposures to the pandemic.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: A 30-year-old woman presented with sudden syncope. Further examination revealed a mass in the right atrium. 18 F-FDG showed increased tracer uptake in the mass. 68 Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 showed increased tracer uptake of thickened pericardium around the mass, but no obviously increased tracer uptake in the mass. The mass that invaded the adjacent pericardium was found during the operation. Postoperative pathology confirmed the diagnosis of right atrium angiosarcoma. Our case demonstrated that 68 Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 is not superior to 18 F-FDG in the imaging of cardiac angiosarcoma, but it is still possible to produce beneficial value in the evaluation of the involvement of the lesion.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: 68Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 is a promising PET agent for tumor imaging. However, inflammatory lesions can also show increased FAPI uptake. Herein, we reported a 52-year-old woman who underwent total thyroidectomy for thyroid papillary carcinoma 1 year ago and underwent adjuvant radioiodine therapy 1 month later. After 131I therapy, she began to develop pain and swelling in bilateral cheeks, which developed into oral dryness. The patient was diagnosed with radioactive iodine-induced parotitis. 68Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT showed the density of bilateral parotid glands increased, and the volume decreased with intense tracer uptake. 99mTcO4- salivary gland scintigraphy showed decreased tracer uptake in the bilateral parotid glands.

RESUMO

Objective: Anemia is a disease with a negative impact on the progression and prognosis of tumor diseases and usually diagnosed by blood tests. Imaging examination has been used as an alternative method to diagnose anemia in addition to blood tests for patients who cannot tolerate blood draw (such as those with severe coagulopathy). The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of diffuse splenic and hepatic 18F-FDG uptake on PET/CT in anemia, by analyzing the correlation between the hemoglobin level and diffuse splenic and hepatic as well as marrow 18F-FDG uptakes in patients who underwent PET/CT. Materials and Methods: Forty four patients who underwent a peripheral blood examination within 2 days of a 18F-FDG-PET/CT in our hospital from March 2020 to March 2021 were included. The standardized uptake value (SUV) of the spleen, liver, and marrow were measured, including the maximum value (SUVmax) and the mean value (SUVmean), and the CT value (CTV) of the left ventricular (LV) cavity was measured, including the maximum value (CTVmax) and the mean value (CTVmean). The relation between these measurements and the blood hemoglobin level were analyzed. Results: Our analysis revealed that the hemoglobin level was negatively correlated with the SUVmax of the spleen (P ≤ 0.01, R = -0.385), SUVmean of the spleen (P ≤ 0.01, R = -0.395), SUVmax of the liver (P ≤ 0.05, R = -0.365), and SUVmean of the liver (P ≤ 0.05, R = -0.315). The hemoglobin level was positively correlated with CTVmax of the LV cavity (P ≤ 0.05, R = 0.33) and CTVmean of the LV cavity (P ≤ 0.05, R = 0.382), while no statistically significant correlation between the hemoglobin level and the SUV of marrow was observed (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Our study revealed a negative correlation between the hemoglobin level and spleen SUV as well as liver SUV, and a positive correlation between the hemoglobin level and CTV of the LV cavity. These findings may provide potential indictors for the imaging diagnosis of anemia, which has important clinical significance in certain clinical scenarios including the evaluation of anemia status in patients who cannot tolerate blood draws and retrospective clinical studies based on patient imaging data.

RESUMO

Purpose: To explore the difference in the effectiveness of gallium-68 fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (68Ga-FAPI-04) PET/CT and fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) PET/CT for the initial staging of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: The Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University hosted this single-center prospective investigation (Clinical Trials registration No.ChiCTR2100044131) between March 2020 and September 2021. Within a week, all subjects underwent MR scans, 68Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT, and 18F-FDG PET/CT in order. The effectiveness of medical staging employing 68Ga-FAPI-04 and 18F-FDG PET/CT was compared. Results: Twenty-eight patients with primary NPC were evaluated (mean age53 ± 11 years). 68Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT indicated an elevated recognition rate for diagnosing primary tumors (28/28 [100%] vs. 27/28 [96%]) and lymph node metastases (263/285 [92%] vs. 228/285 [80%]), but a lower detection rate for distant metastases (5/7 [71%] vs. 7/7 [100%]) compared with 18F-FDG PET/CT. A significant association between the maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) of 18F-FDG PET and 68Ga-FAPI-04 PET was found in the primary cancers (r = 0.691, p < 0.001). In comparison to 18F-FDG PET/CT, 68Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT upstaged the T stage in five patients while downstaging the N stage in seven patients. 68Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT corrected the overall staging of five patients on18F-FDG PET/CT. Conclusion: 68Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT is preferable to 18F-FDG PET/CT for NPC staging in terms of the detection efficiency for primary tumors and lymph node metastasis. This is especially true when evaluating the primary cancer and any spread to contiguous tissues. It is possible to improve the staging assessment of NPC by using 68Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT in conjunction with 18F-FDG PET/CT.

RESUMO

Purpose: This study aimed to compare the potential diagnostic efficacy of gallium68-fibroblast-activation protein inhibitor ([68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04) and fluorine18-fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]-FDG) positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) for primary tumors, lymph nodes, and distant metastatic lesions of gastric cancer (GC), and to explore the effects of [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 and [18F]-FDG on tumor staging and restaging in GC. Methods: This single-center retrospective study (NCT2100044131) was conducted at the Affiliated Hospital of the Southwest Medical University between June 2020 and December 2021. Images of patients with GC who were pathologically confirmed and underwent contemporaneous [18F]-FDG and [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT within 1 week were analyzed. The diagnostic efficacy of [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT and [18F]-FDG PET/CT for TNM staging of GC was compared using McNemar test. The maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) of each lesion in the two imaging types was compared using the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: In total, 25 patients with GC (mean age, 56 ± 12 years) were evaluated. [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT exhibited higher sensitivity compared to [18F]-FDG PET/CT for detecting primary tumors (18/19 [94.74%] vs. 13/19 [68.42%], χ2 = 6.866, P < 0.01), lymph node metastasis (75/77 [97.40%] vs. 32/77 [41.56%], χ2 = 2.888, P =0.089), and distant metastases (275/283 [97.17%] vs. 122/283 [43.11%], χ2 = 11.858, P < 0.01). [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 accumulation was significantly higher than that of [18F]FDG in tumors (median SUVmax, 10.28 vs 3.20; U=59.00, P < 0.01), lymph node metastasis metastases (median SUVmax, 9.20 vs 3.15; U=53.50, P < 0.01), and distant metastases (median SUVmax, 8.00 vs 4.20; U=200.00, P < 0.01). Compared to [18F]-FDG PET/CT, [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT resulted in new oncological findings in 14/25 patients and corrected tumor staging or restaging in 7/25 patients. Conclusion: Our preliminary results regarding the impact of [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT on tumor staging highlight the potential of this approach for increasing the accuracy of GC diagnosis, which may facilitate treatment decision-making.

RESUMO

Cervical cancer (CC) is the most common female genital tract malignancy, with repercussions on the psychophysiological health of female patients. Patients with CC are faced with a high risk of postoperative recurrence and metastases. The present study aimed to evaluate the clinical value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) combined with serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag) in the diagnosis of postoperative recurrence/metastases in patients with early stage CC. This was a prospective follow-up study on 246 patients who received surgery for early stage CC. The results of clinical follow-up and pathological examination were taken as the gold standard. The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were calculated for PET/CT, serum SCC-Ag determination and the combined PET/CT and serum SCC-Ag method. Results demonstrated that 90.11% patients completed the follow-up, and the median follow-up time was 22 months (range, 7-42 months). Tumor recurrence or metastasis was confirmed in a total of 137 patients (55.7%), including 18 deaths. The diagnostic sensitivity of PET/CT scan combined with serum SCC-Ag determination for postoperative metastases/recurrence in patients with early stage CC was 93.43% (95% CI, 0.875-0.967). The specificity was 92.67% (95% CI, 0.856-0.965), the positive predictive value was 94.12% (95% CI, 0.884-0.972), the negative predictive value was 91.81% (95% CI, 0.846-0.959) and the area under the ROC curve was 0.930±0.019 (95% CI, 0.893-0.968; P<0.001). The results also revealed that the serum SCC-Ag level was positively correlated with SUVmax (r=0.458; P<0.001). The results from the present study demonstrated that for patients with early metaphase CC, PET/CT scan combined with serum SCC-Ag determination during the follow-up was capable of earlier, more comprehensive and more accurate detection of recurrence/metastatic lesions, which is of high clinical application value.
