A case of post-operative gas gangrene after prostatectomy is reported in a fifty-six years old diabetic with a fatal outcome. Mode of infection and principals of diagnosis and therapy are discussed.

[Aglomerular segmental hypoplasia of the kidney: report of a clinical case]. / L'hypoplasie segmentaire aglomérulaire du rein: à propos d'un cas clinique.

Aglomerular segmental hypoplasia of the kidney is a disease that is uncommon in the adult; the average age at appearance of symptoms is between ten and 15 years. A clear female predominance has been noted, and this disease is often misdiagnosed as chronic pyelonephritis. However, the radiological and pathological characteristics are different to the latter. The etiology of aglomerular segmental hypoplasia has not yet been determined. It is important to acquire further knowledge regarding this disease, as in certain cases this information could help to avoid unnecessary nephrectomy.

[Retrovesical hydatid cyst. Apropos of 6 cases]. / Le kyste hydatique rétrovésical. A propos de six cas.

The retrovesical hydatid cyst is a very rare site. The authors have observed six cases over a 12-year period. The diagnosis is often delayed. The clinical features are dominated by pain and compression of adjacent organs. Clinical examination sometimes reveals a hypogastric mass. The topographic diagnosis is based on ultrasonography and IVU. Treatment is surgical: retroperitoneal cystopericystectomy. The course is often favourable.

[Granulomatous orchitis. A case report and review of the literature]. / Orchite granulomateuse. A propos d'une observation et revue de la littérature.

Idiopathic granulomatous orchitis is a rare testicle lesion of unknown etiology. We report one case of a specific granulomatous orchitis. Diagnosis and treatment problems are discussed. Clinically, it can be misdiagnosed as a malignant tumour or tuberculosis. The diagnosis is usually made on histological examination after orchiectomy. The aetiology of this disease is still debated. It is supposed to be associated with sperm extravasation causing self-immune reaction.

[Degenerated Buschke Loewenstein tumor of the scrotum]. / Tumeur de Buschke Loewenstein scrotale dégénérée.

The Buschke-Loewenstein tumour (BLT) is a sexually transmissible benign tumour of viral origin. It is characterized by a large tumour volume, the possibility of local recurrence and especially its potential for malignant transformation. We report a case of scrotal BLT in a 49-year-old patient with a history of recurrent scrotal fistula, with negative HIV serology, but in whom the search for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) was not performed. The tumour arising from the scrotal skin was resected and the testis was found to be normal. Histology confirmed transformation of the tumour into a squamous cell carcinoma. The clinical course was favourable, after a follow-up of 8 months with no local recurrence. In the light of this case of rare tumour, especially in its malignant form and its unusual scrotal site, the authors review the problems related to clinical classification, histology (differential diagnosis with primary squamous cell carcinoma), clinical course and treatment raised by this tumour.

[Paratesticular rhabdomyosarcomas. Apropos of a case]. / Rhabdomyosarcomes paratesticulaires. A propos d'un cas.

A case of paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma in a 23 year-old patient is reported. Clinical signs are like any intrascrotal tumor. Scrotal ultrasound, CT scan and immunohistochemical markers are necessary for the diagnosis and stadification of this cancer. Orchidectomy followed by radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy is the usual treatment. Prognosis depends on the tumoral stage.

[Leiomyosarcoma of the bladder. Apropos of a case]. / Léiomyosarcome de la vessie. A propos d'une observation.

Bladder leiomyosarcoma is a rare neoplasm. Early diagnosis, cystectomy, radiation therapy and chemotherapy seem to improve prognosis. The authors report one case of a leiomyosarcoma of the bladder in a seventy year old woman. There has been no evidence of recurrence after partial cystectomy, with more than a two-year follow up. Clinical, histological, therapeutic and prognostic aspects of this unusual tumor are discussed.

[Renal hydatid cyst. Apropos of 22 cases]. / Le kyste hydatique rénal. A propos de 22 cas.

Renal hydatid cyst ranks third among all visceral localisations. It is most often latent due to the deep situation of the kidney. The authors report their experience with 22 cases of hydatid disease of the kidney, and place special emphasis on wedge resection of the cyst which is a simple and effective operation.
