RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the loss of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the substantia nigra (SN). Microglia-mediated neuroinflammation has been largely considered one of main factors to the PD pathology. MicroRNA-218-5p (miR-218-5p) is a microRNA that plays a role in neurodevelopment and function, while its potential function in PD and neuroinflammation remains unclear. METHODS: We explore the involvement of miR-218-5p in the PD in a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced mouse model. The miR-218-5p agomir used for overexpression was delivered into the substantia nigra (SN) by bilateral stereotaxic infusions. The loss of dopaminergic (DA) neurons and microglial inflammation in the SN was determined using Western blotting and immunofluorescence. Motor function was assessed using the rotarod test. RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was performed to explore the pathways regulated by miR-218-5p. The target genes of miR-218-5p were predicted using TargetScan and confirmed using dual luciferase reporter assays. The effects of miR-218-5p on microglial inflammation and related pathways were verified in murine microglia-like BV2 cells. To stimulate BV2 cells, SH-SY5Y cells were treated with 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+) and the conditioned media (CM) were collected. RESULTS: MiR-218-5p expression was reduced in both the SN of MPTP-induced mice and MPP+-treated BV2 cells. MiR-218-5p overexpression significantly alleviated MPTP-induced microglial inflammation, loss of DA neurons, and motor dysfunction. RNA sequence and gene set enrichment analysis showed that type I interferon (IFN-I) pathways were upregulated in MPTP-induced mice, while this upregulation was reversed by miR-218-5p overexpression. A luciferase reporter assay verified that Ddx41 was a target gene of miR-218-5p. In vitro, miR-218-5p overexpression or Ddx41 knockdown inhibited the IFN-I response and expression of inflammatory cytokines in BV2 cells stimulated with MPP+-CM. CONCLUSIONS: MiR-218-5p suppresses microglia-mediated neuroinflammation and preserves DA neurons via Ddx41/IFN-I. Hence, miR-218-5p-Ddx41 is a promising therapeutic target for PD.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons (DA) and the accumulation of Lewy body deposits composed of alpha-Synuclein (α-Syn), which act as antigenic epitopes to drive cytotoxic T-cell responses in PD. Increased T helper 17 (Th17) cells and dysfunctional regulatory T cells (Tregs) have been reported to be associated with the loss of DA in PD. However, the mechanism underlying the Th17/Treg imbalance remains unknown. METHODS: Here, we examined the percentage of Th17 cells, the percentage of Tregs and the α-Syn level and analysed their correlations in the peripheral blood of PD patients and in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) and spleen of MPTP-treated mice and A53 transgenic mice. We assessed the effect of α-Syn on the stability and function of Tregs and the differentiation of Th17 cells and evaluated the role of retinoid-related orphan nuclear receptor (RORγt) upregulation in α-Syn stimulation in vivo and in vitro. RESULTS: We found that the α-Syn level and severity of motor symptoms were positively correlated with the increase in Th17 cells and decrease in Tregs in PD patients. Moreover, α-Syn stimulation led to the loss of Forkhead box protein P3 (FOXP3) expression in Tregs, accompanied by the acquisition of IL-17A expression. Increased Th17 differentiation was detected upon α-Syn stimulation when naïve CD4+ T cells were cultured under Th17-polarizing conditions. Mechanistically, α-Syn promotes the transcription of RORC, encoding RORγt, in Tregs and Th17 cells, leading to increased Th17 differentiation and loss of Treg function. Intriguingly, the increase in Th17 cells, decrease in Tregs and apoptosis of DA were suppressed by a RORγt inhibitor (GSK805) in MPTP-treated mice. CONCLUSION: Together, our data suggest that α-Syn promotes the transcription of RORC in circulating CD4+ T cells, including Tregs and Th17 cells, to impair the stability of Tregs and promote the differentiation of Th17 cells in PD. Inhibition of RORγt attenuated the apoptosis of DA and alleviated the increase in Th17 cells and decrease in Tregs in PD.

RESUMO

Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by impaired mitochondrial function and decreased ATP levels. Aerobic glycolysis and lactate production have been shown to be upregulated in dopaminergic neurons to sustain ATP levels, but the effect of upregulated glycolysis on dopaminergic neurons remains unknown. Since lactate promotes apoptosis and α-synuclein accumulation in neurons, we hypothesized that the lactate produced upon upregulated glycolysis is involved in the apoptosis of dopaminergic neurons in PD. In this study, we examined the expression of hexokinase 2 (HK2) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), the key enzymes in glycolysis, and lactate levels in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) of a MPTP-induced mouse model of PD and in MPP+-treated SH-SY5Y cells. We found that the expression of HK2 and LDHA and the lactate levels were markedly increased in the SNpc of MPTP-treated mice and in MPP+-treated SH-SY5Y cells. Exogenous lactate treatment led to the apoptosis of SH-SY5Y cells. Intriguingly, lactate production and the apoptosis of dopaminergic neurons were suppressed by the application of 3-bromopyruvic acid (3-Brpa), a HK2 inhibitor, or siRNA both in vivo and in vitro. 3-Brpa treatment markedly improved the motor behaviour of MPTP-treated mice in pole test and rotarod test. Mechanistically, lactate increases the activity of adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and suppresses the phosphorylation of serine/threonine kinase 1 (Akt) and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR). Together, our data suggest that upregulated HK2 and LDHA and increased lactate levels prompt the apoptosis of dopaminergic neurons in PD. Inhibition of HK2 expression attenuated the apoptosis of dopaminergic neurons by downregulating lactate production and AMPK/Akt/mTOR pathway in PD.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Atherosclerosis is characterized by lipid deposition, oxidative stress, and inflammation in the arterial intima. Ganoderma lucidum triterpenoids (GLTs) and polysaccharides (GLPs) are traditional Chinese medicines with potential cardiovascular benefits. We aimed to comprehensively evaluate the effect of GLTs and GLPs on atherosclerosis and the associated underlying mechanisms in vivo and in vitro. METHODS AND RESULTS: Japanese big-ear white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups of blank, model, and treatment, and the treatment group was fed with GLSO and GLSP (0.3 g/kg body-weight/day) for 4 months. Serum levels of triglyceride (TG), total (TC), and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in GL treatment group were significantly lower than those in the model group. The area of aortic plaques was significantly reduced in the treatment group. Further, GL administration in oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) stimulated human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) reduced the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) by inhibiting the upregulation of the nuclear transcription factor (NF)-κB p65 and the relative receptor LOX-1. In THP-1 cells treated with phorbol myristate acetate, GL inhibited the inflammatory polarization of macrophages (as evidenced by reduced TNF-α levels) via regulation of Notch1 and DLL4 pathways. Ox-LDL-stimulated THP-1 cells treated with GL showed an increase in the apoptosis of foam cells. CONCLUSIONS: GLTs and GLPs attenuated the progression of atherosclerosis by alleviating endothelial dysfunction and inflammatory polarization of macrophages, thus promoting apoptosis of foam cells.

RESUMO

Continuous orthogonal moments, for which continuous functions are used as kernel functions, are invariant to rotation and scaling, and they have been greatly developed over the recent years. Among continuous orthogonal moments, polar harmonic Fourier moments (PHFMs) have superior performance and strong image description ability. In order to improve the performance of PHFMs in noise resistance and image reconstruction, PHFMs, which can only take integer numbers, are extended to fractional-order polar harmonic Fourier moments (FrPHFMs) in this paper. Firstly, the radial polynomials of integer-order PHFMs are modified to obtain fractional-order radial polynomials, and FrPHFMs are constructed based on the fractional-order radial polynomials; subsequently, the strong reconstruction ability, orthogonality, and geometric invariance of the proposed FrPHFMs are proven; and, finally, the performance of the proposed FrPHFMs is compared with that of integer-order PHFMs, fractional-order radial harmonic Fourier moments (FrRHFMs), fractional-order polar harmonic transforms (FrPHTs), and fractional-order Zernike moments (FrZMs). The experimental results show that the FrPHFMs constructed in this paper are superior to integer-order PHFMs and other fractional-order continuous orthogonal moments in terms of performance in image reconstruction and object recognition, as well as that the proposed FrPHFMs have strong image description ability and good stability.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: End-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients are at high cardiovascular risk, and myocardial fibrosis (MF) accounts for most of their cardiac events. The purpose of this study is to investigate the prognostic value and risk stratification of MF as measured by extracellular volume (ECV) on cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) for heart failure (HF) in patients with hemodialysis-dependent ESRD. METHODS: Sixty-six hemodialysis ESRD patients and 25 matched healthy volunteers were prospectively enrolled and underwent CMR to quantify multiple parameters of MF by T1 mapping and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE). All ESRD patients were followed up for 11-30 months, and the end-point met the 2016 ESC guidelines for the definition of HF. RESULTS: Over a median follow-up of 18 months (range 11-30 months), there were 26 (39.39%) guideline-diagnosed HF patients in the entire cohort of ESRD subjects. The native T1 value was elongated, and ECV was enlarged in the HF cohort relative to the non-HF cohort and normal controls (native T1, 1360.10 ± 50.14 ms, 1319.39 ± 55.44 ms and 1276.35 ± 56.56 ms; ECV, 35.42 ± 4.42%, 31.85 ± 3.01% and 26.97 ± 1.87%; all p<0.05). In the cardiac strain analysis, ECV was significantly correlated with global radial strain (GRS) (r = - 0.501, p = 0.009), global circumferential strain (GCS) (r = 0.553, p = 0.005) and global longitudinal strain (GLS) (r = 0.507, p = 0.008) in ESRD patients with HF. Cox proportional hazard regression models revealed that ECV (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.160, 95% confidence interval: 1.022 to 1.318, p = 0.022) was the only independent predictor of HF in ESRD patients. It also had a higher diagnostic accuracy for detecting MF (area under the curve [AUC] = 0.936; 95% confidence interval: 0.864 to 0.976) than native T1 and post T1 (all p ≤ 0.002). Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed that the high-ECV group had a shorter median overall survival time than the low-ECV group (18 months vs. 20 months, log-rank p = 0.046) and that ESRD patients with high ECV were more likely to have HF. CONCLUSIONS: Myocardial fibrosis quantification by ECV on CMR T1 mapping was shown to be an independent risk factor of heart failure, providing incremental prognostic value and risk stratification for cardiac events in ESRD patients. RESUMO

A novel 3D metal-organic framework (MOF){[Tb3(CBA)2(HCOO)(µ3-OH)4(H2O)]·2H2O·0.5DMF} n (S-1) was synthesized by the solvothermal method. The crystal structure indicates that [Tb4O4] cubane clusters self-assemble into an infinite chain by sharing vertex, which is further linked to adjacent chains through 1,1-cyclobutanedicarboxylic acid ligand (H2CBA), resulting in a honeycomb arrayed framework. S-1 possesses excellent water stability and still retains intact structure after exposure to water for 10 weeks or boiling water for 10 weeks. Interestingly, S-1 acts as a luminescence sensor to selectively and sensitively detect quercetin with the limit of detection (LOD) as low as 0.23 ppm (7.6 × 10-7 M). The relationship between relative luminescence intensity and concentration obeys linear in the range of 0-300 ppm (0-993 µM), which allows quantitative detection of quercetin. Importantly, S-1 can be reused at least six times with almost no change in luminescent intensity. Compared with the high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) method, S-1 was used to determine the content of quercetin in onionskin and apple peel samples with satisfactory results. Furthermore, a portable S-1 test paper is also developed and expected to be applied in practice. To our knowledge, S-1 is the first example of MOFs as luminescent sensor for quercetin.

RESUMO

Two isostructural 2D MOFs ([Ln7(CDA)6(HCOO)3(µ3-OH)6(H2O)8] n, abbreviated as 1-Gd and 2-Dy) were successfully synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The self-assembly of lanthanide(III) nitrate and 1,1'-cyclopropane-dicarboxylic acid (H2CDA) resulted in wheel-like Ln18 cluster second building units (SBU), which are further linked to six neighboring wheels to generate a 2D ordered honeycomb array. Both 1-Gd and 2-Dy exhibit high thermal stability and decompose above 330 °C. Moreover, they have good solvent stability in ten common solvents and pH stability with pH values from 1 to 13. Magnetic studies reveal that 1-Gd exhibits weak antiferromagnetic coupling between adjacent Gd3+ ions and has a large magnetocaloric effect of 47.30 J kg-1 K-1 (Δ H = 7.0 T at 2 K), while 2-Dy shows ferromagnetic interaction between adjacent Dy3+ ions. Interestingly, 1-Gd and 2-Dy can catalyze the cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides under mild conditions and can be reused at least five rounds with negligible loss of catalytic performance.

RESUMO

Five tetranuclear rare-earth complexes, [RE4(dbm)4L6(µ3-OH)2] [HL = 5- (4-fluorobenzylidene)-8-hydroxylquinoline; dbm = 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propanedione; RE = Y (1), Eu (2), Tb (3), Dy (4), Lu (5)], have been synthesized and completely characterized. The X-ray structural analyses show that each [RE4] complex is of typical butterfly or rhombus topology. Each RE(III) center exists in an eight-coordinated square-antiprism environment. Magnetic studies reveal that complex 4 displays single-molecule-magnet behavior below 10 K under a zero direct-current field, with an effective anisotropy barrier (ΔE/kB = 56 K). The fluorescence properties of complexes 1-5 were also investigated. Complexes 2-4 showed their characteristic peaks for the corresponding RE(III) center, while complexes 1 and 5 showed the same emission peaks with the ligand when they were excited at the same wavelength.

RESUMO

New dinuclear lanthanide(III) complexes based on an 8-hydroxyquinoline Schiff base derivative and ß-diketonate ligands, [Ln2(hfac)4(L)2] (Ln(III) = Gd (1), Tb (2), Dy (3), Ho (4), Er (5)), [Ln2(tfac)4(L)2] (Ln(III) = Gd (6), Tb (7), Dy (8), Ho (9)), and [Dy(bfac)4(L)2·C7H16] (10) (L = 2-[[(4-fluorophenyl)imino] methyl]-8-hydroxyquinoline, hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonate, tfac = trifluoroacetylacetonate, and bfac = benzoyltrifluoroacetone), have been synthesized. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction data show that complexes 1-10 are phenoxo-O-bridged dinuclear complexes; each eight-coordinated center Ln(III) ion is in a slightly distorted dodecahedral geometry with two bidentate ß-diketonate coligands and two µ2-O bridging 8-hydroxyquinoline Schiff base derivative ligands. The magnetic study reveals that 1 and 6 display cryogenic magnetic refrigeration properties, whereas complexes 3, 8, and 10 show different SMM behaviors with energy barriers of 6.77 K for 3, 19.83 K for 8, and 25.65 K for 10. Meanwhile, slow magnetic relaxation was observed in 7, while no out-of-phase alternating-current signals were found for 2. The different dynamic magnetic behaviors of two Tb2 complexes and the three Dy2 complexes mainly derive from the tiny crystal structure changes around the Ln(III) ions. It is also proved that the ß-diketonate coligands can play an important role in modulating magnetic dynamics of the lanthanide 8-hydroxyquinoline Schiff base derivative system.

RESUMO

Two three-dimensional polymeric Tb(III) and Yb(III) frameworks, namely, {[Tb3(Hptc)(ptc)(pdc)(H2O)6]·2H2O}n (1) and {[Yb2(ptc)(ox)(H2O)5]·7H2O}n (2) (H4ptc = pyridine-2,3,5,6-tetracarboxylic acid, H2pdc = pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid, ox = oxalate), have been synthesized by a hydrothermal method and characterized by infrared spectra, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Framework 1 shows an interesting three-dimensional (8,8)-connected net with a Schläfli symbol of (3(3)·4(18)·5(5)·6(2))2(3(6)·4(14)·5(7)·6), while 2 exhibits an unusual (4,8)-connected sqc21 net with a Schläfli symbol of (3(2)·4(2)·5(2))(3(4)·4(8)·5(12)·6(4)). Luminescence studies of 1 reveal that the luminescence intensity increases when the framework is dehydrated.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: One-fourth of Parkinson's disease (PD) patients suffer from cognitive impairment. However, few neuroimaging markers have been identified regarding cognitive impairment in PD. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the association between third ventricular width by transcranial sonography (TCS) and cognitive decline in PD. METHOD: Participants with PD were recruited from one medical center in China. Third ventricular width was assessed by TCS, and cognitive function was analyzed by the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis and Cox model analysis were utilized to determine the diagnostic and predictive accuracy of third ventricular width by TCS for cognitive decline in PD patients. RESULT: A total of 174 PD patients were recruited. Third ventricular width was negatively correlated with MMSE scores. ROC analysis suggested that the optimal cutoff point for third ventricular width in screening for cognitive impairment in PD was 4.75 mm (sensitivity 62.7%; specificity 75.6%). After 21.5 (18.0, 26.0) months of follow-up in PD patients without cognitive impairment, it was found that those with a third ventricular width greater than 4.75 mm exhibited a 7.975 times higher risk of developing cognitive impairment [hazard ratio = 7.975, 95% CI 1.609, 39.532, p = 0.011] compared with patients with a third ventricular width less than 4.75 mm. CONCLUSION: Third ventricular width based on TCS emerged as an independent predictor of developing cognitive impairment in PD patients.

RESUMO

We built a livestreaming impulsive buying model based on stimulus-organism-response (SOR) theory, and we explored the impact of atmospheric cues (ACELS) and sales promotion (SPELS) on impulsive buying (IBI) based on emotions (EOC) and Zhong Yong tendency (ZYT) of online consumers. Combined with holistic orientation, perspective integration, and harmony maintenance, ZYT is a cognitive process involving individual events. We gathered 478 samples using a questionnaire to test the proposed research model. The empirical findings show that as the stimuli in the livestreaming environment, ACELS and SPELS during livestreaming greatly boost EOC while significantly constraining consumers' ZYT. Among online consumers, positive EOC promotes IBI, whereas ZYT dampens it. In addition, EOC and ZYT mediate the relationship between stimulus factors and response factors in parallel, resulting in four model mediation paths. By incorporating the SOR model, this study provides theoretical underpinnings for the role of cognitive processing in impulsive purchases, as well as useful guidance for e-commerce platforms and streamers to effectively understand Chinese consumers' purchase behavior, which benefits the development of effective promotion strategies and the creation of powerful marketing tools.

RESUMO

Backgrounds: Apathy is common in Parkinson's disease (PD) but difficult to identify. Growing evidence suggests that abnormal iron metabolism is associated with apathy in PD. We aimed to investigate the clinical features and iron metabolism of apathetic patients with PD, and construct a nomogram for predicting apathy in PD. Methods: Data of 201 patients with PD were analyzed. Demographic data, Apathy Scale (AS) assessments, and serum iron metabolism parameters were obtained. Spearman correlations were used to assess relationships between AS scores and iron metabolism parameters, separately for male and female patients. Additionally, a nomograph for detecting apathetic patients with PD was built based on the results of logistic regression analysis. Results: The serum transferrin (TRF, p < 0.0024) concentration and total iron binding capacity (TIBC, p < 0.0024) were lower in the apathetic group after Bonferroni correction, and they were negatively associated with AS scores in male participants with PD (TRF, r = -0.27, p = 0.010; TIBC, r = -0.259, p = 0.014). The nomogram was developed by incorporating the following five parameters: age, sex, serum iron concentration, TIBC and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) scores, which showed good discrimination and calibration, with a consistency index of 0.799 (95% confidence interval = 0.732-0.865). Conclusion: Abnormal iron metabolism may contribute to apathy in PD, especially among men. TIBC levels in combination with HAMD scores can be effectively used for the prediction of apathetic patients with PD.

RESUMO

Soil-Water characteristic Curve (SWCC) is meant to describe the mechanical behavior of unsaturated soil. The present paper focuses on the internal multi-scale microstructure of Xining untreated loess and lime-treated loess with the use of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and image processing technique. A new SWCC model was presented based on the fractal dimension of pore size distribution. The SWCC of untreated loess was calculated from fractal dimension and fitted well with curve tested from Fredlund SWCC device. The SWCC of lime-treated loess was then calculated. Two curves of Xining untreated loess and lime-treated loess have been compared and reasons for the difference have also been discussed. The results indicate that the content of large pores in lime-treated loess decreased and the content of micro-pore increased. The bracket pores were changed into cement pores. The pore fractal dimension D of Xining untreated loess is 1.39 and the pore fractal dimension D of Xining lime-treated loess is 1.53. Air-entry value of untreated loess is 12.16 kPa, while lime-treated Loess-35.15 kPa. In transition region, matric suction of lime-treated loess was in the range of 35.15 kPa ~ 4000 kPa, while matric suction of untreated loess-12.16 kPa ~ 2600 kPa. The range of the transition region in lime-treated loess is larger than that in the loess, while in the range of saturation region, the reverse applies. Under the condition of the same matrix suction, the saturation of lime-treated loess is greater than that of untreated loess. In the residual region, the difference of SWCC of soil samples is small.

RESUMO

To determine the diagnostic performance of transcranial sonography (TCS) in assessing increased echogenic area of the substantia nigra (SN) in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Institutional review board approval was obtained for this retrospective study. A total of 278 PD patients (mean age: 64.7 ± 9.8 y, 100 women) and 300 healthy control patients (mean age: 63.6 ± 9.3 y, 97 women) were referred for TCS assessment of SN hyper-echogenicity (SN+) from June 2016 to December 2018. Two sonographers independently measured the sizes of the echogenic areas of the SN by TCS imaging in both PD patients and healthy controls. The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of TCS imaging were compared between PD patients and healthy controls. Inter-rater agreement was assessed with the Cohen's κ statistic. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of readers 1 and 2, respectively, for the identification of SN+ in TCS were 90.3% and 89.6% (251 and 249 of 278), 89.3% and 88.3% (268 and 265 of 300) and 89.8% and 88.9% (519 and 514 of 578). Inter-observer agreement was excellent (к = 0.84). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) for differentiation of PD patients from healthy controls was 0.92 for reader 1 and 0.91 for reader 2. Cutoff values of 0.20 and 0.21 cm2 were derived from the assessments performed by readers 1 and 2, respectively. We defined 0.20 cm2 as the optimal cutoff value because it had a higher AUC. TCS is a promising diagnostic technique and can be very helpful in differentiating PD patients from healthy individuals.

RESUMO

Substantia nigra (SN) hyperechogenicity measured by transcranial sonography (TCS) is a promising biomarker for Parkinson disease (PD). The aim of this study was to explore the diagnostic accuracy of SN hyperechogenicity (SN) for differentiating PD from essential tremor (ET). A total of 119 patients with PD, 106 ET patients and 112 healthy controls that underwent TCS from November 2016 to February 2019 were included in this single-center retrospective case-control study. Two reviewers who were blinded to clinical information independently measured the SN by TCS imaging. The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of TCS imaging were evaluated between the PD and healthy controls and between patients with PD and ET. Interrater agreement was assessed with the Cohen κ statistic. TCS imaging of the SN allowed to differentiate between patients with PD and ET with a sensitivity (91.6% and 90.8%) and specificity (91.5% and 89.6%) for readers 1 and 2, respectively. Interobserver agreement was excellent (к = 0.87). In addition, measurement of the SN allowed to differentiate between patients with PD and healthy subjects with a sensitivity (91.6% and 90.8%) and specificity (88.4% and 89.3%) for readers 1 and 2, respectively. Interobserver agreement was excellent (к = 0.91). Measurement of SN on TCS images could be a useful tool to distinguishing patients with PD from those with ET.

RESUMO

A family of new dinuclear lanthanide complexes as the simplest entities showing intramolecular magnetic interactions, [Ln2(dbm)2(L)2(CH3OH)2] (Ln = Tb (1), Dy (2), Ho (3), Er (4), Yb (5), Lu (6)), [Ln2(acac)2(L)2(EtOH)2] (Ln = Dy (7), Er (8)), [Dy2(TTA)2(L)2(CH3OH)2]·2CH2Cl2 (9) and [Dy2(tfa)2(L)2(CH3OH)2] (10) (H2L = N'-(2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)-pyrazine-2-carbohydrazide, Hdbm = 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propanedione, Hacac = acetylacetone, HTTA = 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone, Htfa = trifluoroacetylacetone), were constructed successfully by the reaction of a Schiff base ligand H2L and four different ß-diketonate salts. As for complexes 4, 5 and 8, all exhibit the characteristic emission peaks of the corresponding Er3+, Yb3+ and Er3+ ions, respectively. Meanwhile, the excitation wavelength (510 nm) of 5 is located in the visible region, confirming its significant potential application value. Magnetic studies indicate that complexes 9 and 10 exhibit characteristic slow relaxation of magnetization with the energy barriers (Ueff) of 102 K for 9 and 140 K for 10 under a zero dc field. Under the optimized dc fields, slow magnetic relaxations are present in 2 and 7, and the Ueff values of 9 and 10 have been improved. This proves that the ß-diketonate co-ligands deserve an important role in regulating Dy-SMMs influenced by the diverse perturbations of the axial crystal field originating from minor changes in the coordination environment.
