RESUMO

The contamination of inactivated vaccine with non-structural proteins (NSPs) leads to a high false-positive rate, which is a substantial barrier to accurately differentiate foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV)-infected animals from vaccinated animals. To address this problem, a new chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) method was developed to detect antibodies targeting the two recombinant epitope-based proteins located in 3A and 3B. The 3Aepitp-3Bepitp CLIA exhibited a diagnostic sensitivity of 94.0% and a diagnostic specificity of 97.5% for the detection of serum samples (naïve bovines, n = 52, vaccinated bovines, n = 422, infected bovines, n = 116) from animals with known status. The CLIA method also had a concordance rate of 88.1% with the PrioCHECK FMDV NSP ELISA based on the detection of 270 serum samples from the field. Importantly, the 3Aepitp-3Bepitp CLIA produced no false-positives when used to detect FMDV in samples from bovines that had been vaccinated up to five times, and it was demonstrated a low false-positive rate when the bovines had been vaccinated up to ten (2.15%) and fifteen times (5.93%). Therefore, the 3Aepitp-3Bepitp CLIA detects FMDV in samples from frequently vaccinated bovines with high accuracy and represents an alternative method to differentiate FMDV-infected and vaccinated bovines.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the feasibility and therapeutic effect of single-staged Han-uvulopalatopharyngoplasty with septoplasty in adults with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome. Methods: Ninety six cases with OSAHS were diagnosed by polysomnography, and they all had retropalatal obstruction and deviation of nasal septum. Patients were divided into study group(48 cases) and control group(48 cases) randomly. Cases in study group were simultaneously treated with Han-uvulopalatopharyngoplasty and septoplasty, while cases in control group were only treated with Han-uvulopalatopharyngoplasty. U saturation skill and coblation-assisted were applied in Han-uvulopalatopharyngoplasty. And nasal septum suture technique was applied in septoplasty. The observation index included the intranasal changes with acoustic rhinometry, the prevalence of common postoperation complications and curative effects after six months follow-up period. SPSS 18.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results: In study group the overall response rate was 83.33%(40/48), while in control group the overall response rate was 62.50%(30/48). There was statistical significance of response rate between test group and control group(χ(2)=5.275, P<0.05). There was no statistical significance on complication rate between study group and control group(P>0.05). There was no statistical significance on preoperative measurement data(P>0.05). Conclusion: For OSAHS patients with obstructive level at retropalatal plane and nasal plane, Han-uvulopalatopharyngoplasty combined with septoplasty in one stage is safe and effective.

RESUMO

This report described a case of the wry nose and rhinolith patients. A 25 years old female patient complained a sense of persistent left side of nasal congestion runny with 10 years. During the 10 years the symptom repeatedly occurrence, aggravated with peculiar smell of 1 months. A combined treatment including endoscopic sinus surgery with correction of the deviated nose and removal of nasal stone was performed in the patient.Three monthsafter operation, the patient recovered well, without recurrence, external nasal deformity, foreign bodies remain.

RESUMO

The first strain of non-Legionella pneumophila, L-88-1, was isolated from some condensed water in a steam discharge pipe extending from a boiler in China. The organism was characterized by serologic, biochemical, DNA hybridization and electron microscopic studies. It was identified to be L. gormanii.

RESUMO

The present paper, by using interspecific chimera of chick and quail and submicroscopic study on the bursal follicle associated epithelium (FAE) cells during differentiation, indicates that FAE cells of the bursa of Fabricius are formed not by differentiation of the epithelial cells but originate from the mesenchymal cells after invading the bursal anlage, and then differentiate into FAE cells. A new suggestion is given on the interpretation of the mechanism of the invasion of hemopoietic stem cells into the bursal epithelium.
