RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Previous studies have reported associations between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and several mental disorders. However, further research is required to determine whether these associations are causal. Therefore, we evaluated the bidirectional causality between the genetic liability for OSA and nine mental disorders by using Mendelian randomization (MR). METHOD: We performed two-sample bidirectional MR of genetic variants for OSA and nine mental disorders. Summary statistics on OSA and the nine mental disorders were extracted from the FinnGen study and the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium. The primary analytical approach for estimating causal effects was the inverse-variance weighted (IVW), with the weighted median and MR Egger as complementary methods. The MR Egger intercept test, Cochran's Q test, Rucker's Q test, and the MR pleiotropy residual sum and outlier (MR-PRESSO) test were used for sensitivity analyses. RESULT: MR analyses showed that genetic liability for major depressive disorder (MDD) was associated with an increased risk of OSA (odds ratio [OR] per unit increase in the risk of MDD, 1.29; 95% CI, 1.11-1.49; P < 0.001). In addition, genetic liability for OSA may be associated with an increased risk of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (OR = 1.26; 95% CI, 1.02-1.56; p = 0.032). There was no evidence that OSA is associated with other mental disorders. CONCLUSION: Our study indicated that genetic liability for MDD is associated with an increased risk of OSA without a bidirectional relationship. Additionally, there was suggestive evidence that genetic liability for OSA may have a causal effect on ADHD. These findings have implications for prevention and intervention strategies targeting OSA and ADHD. Further research is needed to investigate the biological mechanisms underlying our findings and the relationship between OSA and other mental disorders.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Since the twenty-first century, the prevalence of diabetes has risen globally year by year. In Gansu Province, an economically underdeveloped province in northwest China, the cost of drugs for diabetes patients accounted for one-third of their total drug costs. To fundamentally reduce national drug expenditures and the burden of medication on the population, the relevant departments of government have continued to reform and improve drug policies. This study aimed to analyse long-term trends in antidiabetic drug use and expenditure in Gansu Province from 2012 to 2021 and to explore the role of pharmaceutical policy. METHODS: Data were obtained from the provincial centralised bidding and purchasing (CBP) platform. Drug use was quantified using the anatomical therapeutic chemistry/defined daily dose (ATC/DDD) method and standardised by DDD per 1000 inhabitants per day (DID), and drug expenditure was expressed in terms of the total amount and defined daily cost (DDC). Linear regression was used to analyse the trends and magnitude of drug use and expenditure. RESULTS: The overall trend in the use and expenditure of antidiabetic drugs was on the rise, with the use increasing from 1.04 in 2012 to 16.02 DID in 2021 and the expenditure increasing from 48.36 in 2012 to 496.42 million yuan in 2021 (from 7.66 to 76.95 million USD). Some new and expensive drugs changed in the use pattern, and their use and expenditure shares (as the percentage of all antidiabetic drugs) increased from 0 to 11.17% and 11.37%, but insulins and analogues and biguanides remained the most used drug class. The DDC of oral drugs all showed a decreasing trend, but essential medicines (EMs) and medical insurance drugs DDC gradually decreased with increasing use. The price reduction of the bid-winning drugs was over 40%, and the top three drugs were glimepiride 2mg/30, acarbose 50mg/30 and acarbose 100mg/30. CONCLUSIONS: The implementation of pharmaceutical policies has significantly increased drug use and expenditure while reducing drug prices, and the introduction of novel drugs and updated treatment guidelines has led to changes in use patterns.

RESUMO

Non-radical activation of persulfate (PS) by photocatalysts is an effective approach for removing organic pollutants from aqueous environments. In this study, a novel Bi2O3/BiO1.3I0.4 heterojunction was synthesized using a facile solvothermal approach and used for the first time for non-radical activation of PS to degrade propranolol (PRO) in the presence of visible light. The findings found that the degradation rate of PRO in the Bi2O3/BiO1.3I0.4/PS system was significantly increased from 19% to more than 90% within 90 min compared to the Bi2O3/BiO1.3I0.4 system. This indicated that the composite system exerted an excellent synergistic effect between the photocatalyst and the persulfate-based oxygenation. Quenching tests and electron paramagnetic resonance demonstrated that the non-radical pathway with singlet oxygen as the active species played a major role in the photocatalytic process. The existence of photo-generated holes during the reaction could also be directly involved in the oxidation of pollutants. Meanwhile, a possible PRO degradation pathway was also proposed. Furthermore, the impacts of pH, humic acid and common anions on the PRO degradation by the Bi2O3/BiO1.3I0.4/PS were explored, and the system's stability and reusability were also studied. This study exhibits a highly productive catalyst for PS activation via a non-radical pathway and provides a new idea for the degradation of PRO.

RESUMO

MXene nanosheets and ordered porous carbons both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Assembling and combining the advantages of the two will be a good choice for battery electrode hosts of active materials. In this work, an electrostatic separation-adsorption strategy is proposed to realize the ordered alternating self-assembly of MXene nanosheets and ordered porous carbon (MPOC), obtaining a unique wall-like porous material with a high conductivity and interconnected porous nanostructure, which strengthens the transfer rate of electrons and ions simultaneously. Meanwhile, the introduction of N-doping from porous carbon into MPOC prolongs the cycle life. When use red phosphorus (RP) as active materials, the MPOC@RP anode exhibited high-capacity output (2454.3 and 2408.1 mAh g-1 in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) at 0.1 C) and long cycle life (the decay rates per cycle of 0.028% and 0.036% after 1500 and 1200 cycles at 2 C in LIBs and SIBs respectively). The successful application in RP anodes displays great potential in other electrode materials such as silicon, sulfur, selenium, and so on. Meanwhile, this strategy is also effective to design other composites materials like MXene and carbon nanotubes, MXene and Graphene, and so on.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive value of the monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein ratio (MHR) in Kawasaki disease (KD) complicated with coronary artery lesions (CALs) and to construct a nomogram prediction model. METHODS: The medical records of KD inpatients diagnosed in the Department of Pediatrics of Lanzhou University Second Hospital from May 2015 to September 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. ROC curves were applied to evaluate the predictive value of MHR in KD complicated with CALs, and logistic regression analysis was used to screen independent risk factors. We constructed a nomogram model and performed internal validation. RESULTS: A total of 568 KD patients were enrolled in the study. MHR was significantly higher in KD patients complicated with CALs and was identified as an independent risk factor for CALs (OR: 1.604, 95% CI: 1.292-1.990). The area under the ROC curve for MHR in predicting CALs was 0.661. The C-index of the nomogram model constructed by incorporating MHR was 0.725 (95% CI: 0.682-0.768), and the calibration curve revealed good agreement between the predicted and actual probabilities. CONCLUSIONS: MHR may not be suitable as a single biomarker to predict the occurrence of CALs, but the nomogram model constructed in combination with other independent risk factors had acceptable predictive performance. IMPACT: The inflammatory response plays an important role in the pathogenesis of Kawasaki disease. The monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein ratio is a novel systemic inflammation marker. The monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein ratio is an independent risk factor for Kawasaki disease complicated with coronary artery lesions. The nomogram established by incorporating the monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein ratio has satisfactory predictive performance for coronary artery lesion formation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Over the past 20 years, excessive antibiotic use has led to serious antimicrobial resistance (AMR) worldwide, and the phenomenon is particularly serious in China. To this end, the Chinese health sector took a series of measures to promote rational antibiotic use. In this study, to reveal the impact of policies on antibiotic use, we explored the long-term trend and patterns of antibiotic use at public health care institutions from 2012 to 2020 in northwest China, taking Gansu Province as an example. METHODS: Antibiotic procurement data were obtained from the provincial centralized bidding procurement (CBP) platform between 2012 and 2020. Antibiotic use was quantified using the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC)/defined daily doses (DDD) methodology and standardized using the DDD per 1000 inhabitants per day (DID). Twelve relevant quality indicators were calculated for comparison with the European Surveillance of Antimicrobial Consumption (ESAC) project monitoring results. RESULTS: Total antibiotic use increased from 18.75 DID to 57.07 DID and then decreased to 19.11 DID, a turning point in 2014. The top three antibiotics used were J01C (beta-lactam antibacterials, penicillins), J01F (macrolides, lincosamides and streptogramins), and J01D (other beta-lactam antibacterials, cephalosporins), accounting for 45.15%, 31.40%, and 11.99% respectively. The oral antibiotics used were approximately 2.5 times the parenteral antibiotics, accounting for 71.81% and 28.19%, respectively. Different use preferences were shown in public hospitals and primary health care centres (PHCs), and the latter accounted for more than half of total use. The absolute use of all classes of antibiotics in Gansu is almost higher than any of the 31 European countries included in the ESAC, but the relative use of some focused antibiotics is lower than theirs. CONCLUSIONS: The intervention policies of the health department reduced antibiotic use in Gansu Province, but the proportion of broad-spectrum and parenteral antibiotics was still high. It is necessary to further improve the quality of antibiotic prescriptions and pay more attention to the rationality of antibiotic use in PHCs.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Diabetes is a chronic non-communicable disease that causes a substantial economic burden on diabetic suffers and their households. The aim of this study was to explore the prevalence, equity, and determinants of catastrophic health expenditure (CHE) among households with people with diabetes in Northwest China. METHODS: A total of 3,000 households were included in the 6th Health services survey in Gansu Province, China of which 270 households with people with diabetes. The equity of CHE was evaluated by concentration curve and concentration index (CI). We adopted the Pareto chart to analyze the main economic intervals of the occurrence of CHE. Finally, we combined the decision tree and logistic model and analyzed the determinants of the occurrence of CHE. RESULTS: The incidence of CHE at 15%, 25% and 40% were 75.19%, 58.89% and 35.19%, respectively. CHE tended to occur in households with a lower economic level, with the phenomenon being more pronounced at Z = 40%. The Pareto chart showed that households in the group with an annual per capita income of 0-740 USD (0-5,000 Chinese Yuan) were most likely to experience CHE. Both decision tree and logistic models suggested that economic level, comorbidities, and small household size were potential risk factors. In addition, the decision tree model also suggested the interaction between the influencing factor of health checks in the past 12 months and the number of chronic diseases. CONCLUSIONS: In summary, Households with people with diabetes were more likely to incur CHE. It is essential to focus on low- and middle-income households with people with diabetes, strengthen the management of patients with diabetes, and provide timely health interventions to reduce the occurrence of chronic comorbidity and the risk of CHE in households.

RESUMO

The natural insulating property and notorious pulverization of volume variation-induced materials during cycling pares the electrochemical activity of red phosphorous (RP) for lithium/sodium-ion batteries (LIBs/SIBs). To work out these issues, a tailored trimodal porous carbon support comprising highly ordered macropores and micro-mesoporous walls embedded with copper (Cu) nanoclusters (Cu-OMC) is proposed to confine RP. The construction of highly conductive copper-carbon wall facilitates fast electrons and ions transportation, while the interconnected and ordered porous structure not only creates enough space to resist the expansion effect of RP but also minimizes the ion diffusion length and enhances ion accessibility (the ion migration coefficient is ten times that of disordered porous carbon). Consequently, the resulting Cu-OMC@RP anode delivers a high reversible capacity (2498.7 mAh g-1 at 0.3 C for LIBs; 2454.2 mAh g-1 at 0.1 C for SIBs), superb rate properties (824.7 mAh g-1 at 10 C for LIBs; 774.2 mAh g-1 at 5 C for SIBs), and outstanding cycling stability (an ultralow decay rate of 0.057% per cycle after 1000 cycles at 10 C for LIBs and 0.048% per cycle at 5 C over 500 cycles for SIBs).

RESUMO

Lithium batteries with high electrode thickness always possess a poor battery property due to electrode polarization along the thickness direction. Herein, a concept that the electrode polarization can be reduced through the fabrication of 3D ordered interconnected nanostructure in the electrode is put forward. A nitrogen-doped carbon photonic crystal (NCPC) with the ordered interconnected nanostructure is used in the electrode to prove the concept. NCPC can provide a fast charge transfer rate along the thickness direction and a uniform distribution for electrons and lithium ions, resulting in diminishing the concentration polarization and concentration gradient. When NCPC works for lithium-sulfur battery, the thick electrode achieves a fast charge transfer rate and a small voltage gap as well as the thin electrode. The 200 µm thick sulfur cathode obtains a specific capacity (87%) as high as 100 µm thick sulfur cathode. In contrast, the capacity ratio of the electrode made by the traditional coating method is only 45%.

RESUMO

The Jinchang Cohort was an ongoing 20-year ambispective cohort with unique metal exposures to an occupational population. From January 2014 to December 2019, the Jinchang Cohort has completed three phases of follow-up. The baseline cohort was completed from June 2011 to December 2013, and a total of 48 001 people were included. Three phases of follow-ups included 46 713, 41 888, and 40 530 participants, respectively. The death data were collected from 2001 to 2020. The epidemiological, physical examination, physiological, and biochemical data of the cohort were collected at baseline and during follow-up. Biological specimens were collected on the baseline to establish a biological specimen bank. The concentrations of metals in urine and serum were detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The new areas of research aim to study the all-cases mortality, the burden of diseases, heavy metals and diseases, and the course of the chain from disease to high-risk outcomes using a combination of macro and micro means, which provided a scientific basis to explore the pathogenesis of multi-etiology and multi-disease and to evaluate the effects of the intervention measures in the population.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of an aqueous extract of seed of broccoli (AESB) in Helicobacter pylori (HP)-infected patients without atrophic gastritis. This was a double-centre, randomized, double-blind, controlled study. A total of 110 HP-infected subjects were randomized to receive either AESB or placebo for 2 months. Inflammatory cytokine (IL-8, IFN-γ, TNF-α, CRP, IL-17A, IL-1ß, IL-18), pepsinogen I, II (PG I, PG II), and gastrin-17 (G-17) measurements and 13C-urea breath tests were performed at baseline and at 60 days. At 60 days, there was no significant difference in any of the inflammatory cytokines, pepsinogen or gastrin between the two groups. However, IL-8, IFN-γ, PG I, PG I/PG II ratio (PGR), and G-17 were reduced by 9.02 pg/mL, 5.08 pg/mL, 24.56 ng/mL, 1.75 and 0.3 pmol/L, respectively, in the AESB group compared with baseline (all P < 0.05). The HP eradication rates in the AESB group and placebo group were 11.11 and 3.70% at 60 days, respectively (P > 0.05). No treatment-related adverse events were reported. Thus, AESB may reduce the risk of gastric mucosal lesions and decrease the risk of gastric cancer by relieving inflammatory cytokines. The safety profile of AESB was satisfactory. This study is registered with the Chinese Clinical Trials Registry (Registration No. ChiCTR2100054249).

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To develop a weakly supervised deep learning (WSDL) method that could utilize incomplete/missing survival data to predict the prognosis of extranodal natural killer/T cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL) based on pretreatment 18F-FDG PET/CT results. METHODS: One hundred and sixty-seven patients with ENKTL who underwent pretreatment 18F-FDG PET/CT were retrospectively collected. Eighty-four patients were followed up for at least 2 years (training set = 64, test set = 20). A WSDL method was developed to enable the integration of the remaining 83 patients with incomplete/missing follow-up information in the training set. To test generalization, these data were derived from three types of scanners. Prediction similarity index (PSI) was derived from deep learning features of images. Its discriminative ability was calculated and compared with that of a conventional deep learning (CDL) method. Univariate and multivariate analyses helped explore the significance of PSI and clinical features. RESULTS: PSI achieved area under the curve scores of 0.9858 and 0.9946 (training set) and 0.8750 and 0.7344 (test set) in the prediction of progression-free survival (PFS) with the WSDL and CDL methods, respectively. PSI threshold of 1.0 could significantly differentiate the prognosis. In the test set, WSDL and CDL achieved prediction sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 87.50% and 62.50%, 83.33% and 83.33%, and 85.00% and 75.00%, respectively. Multivariate analysis confirmed PSI to be an independent significant predictor of PFS in both the methods. CONCLUSION: The WSDL-based framework was more effective for extracting 18F-FDG PET/CT features and predicting the prognosis of ENKTL than the CDL method.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection and risk factors and to serotype the strains in Wuwei, located in north-western China, which has a high incidence of gastric cancer. METHODS: Helicobacter pylori infection was analysed in 21 291 adults by 14 C-urea breath test, and H. pylori antibody were detected in 9183 serum samples by latex immunoturbidimetric method. The correlation of H. pylori infection with demographic-economic, lifestyle factors and medical history among the participants was determined by questionnaire. The antibodies against H. pylori urease, VacA and CagA in serum were determined by dot immunobinding assay. RESULTS: The infection rate of H. pylori was 53.0%, and 90.1% of strains were type I strains. The H. pylori infection rate was higher among farmers (OR = 1.34, 95% CI: 1.19-1.50) and individuals who had a junior high school or higher education level (OR = 1.10, 95% CI: 1.06-1.15), and was lower in older individuals (OR = 0.86, 95% CI: 0.83-0.90), individuals with high income (OR = 0.93, 95% CI: 0.90-0.95), individuals with a habit of eating quickly (OR = 0.93, 95% CI: 0.87-0.99) and individuals who consumed more fruit and vegetables (OR = 0.90, 95% CI: 0.85-0.95). Individuals with history of cholecystitis/cholecystolithiasis, hypertension and asthma were negatively correlated with H. pylori infection (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The prevalence of H. pylori infection is high in Wuwei. The major prevalent strain is type I strain. Age, education, occupation, household income, consumption of fruit and vegetables, and habit of eating quickly are independent risk factors for H. pylori infection, which is also associated with individuals with a history of extragastric diseases.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Whether the asymptomatic hyperuricemia (AH) raise the cardiovascular disease risk with or without hyperuricemia-related comorbidities still remains contentious. Our study was aimed to quantitatively access the incidence risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke associated with AH. METHODS AND RESULTS: In this prospective cohort study, multivariate-adjusted Cox regression models were applied to evaluate the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Baseline serum uric acid beyond normouricemia (357 mmol/L) was quarterly stratified based on the distribution of healthy populations without CVD onset. 1062 CVD first-attack cases were collected among the 29,974 study population (age range: 18-91, mean age: 47.2 ± 13.9 years-old) with a mean follow-up duration of 5.78 ± 0.83 years. The AH showed overall non-association with the CVD incident. However, significantly increased adjusted hazard ratio (HR) of CVD with 95% confidence interval (CI) were observed when the fourth quartile compared with normouricemia stratum in the total cohort population (CHD: 1.42, 1.21-1.68; stroke: 1.27, 1.06-1.41), male (CHD: 1.26, 1.12-1.55), female (CHD: 1.34, 1.04-2.02; stroke: 2.06, 1.13-3.77) and aged over 50 years-old population. Meanwhile, the age-standardized incidence rate of CVD in the fourth quartile was 2-3 times higher than the normouricemia population. After excluded 14,464 baseline population with diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, consistent results were also observed in the AH population in absence of comorbidities (CHD: 1.51, 1.22-2.25; stroke: 1.68, 1.13-2.39). CONCLUSION: Asymptomatic hyperuricemia patients exposed to a higher level of uric acid (>=428 mmol/L) could significantly increase the incidence risk of CHD and stroke, with or without hyperuricemia-related comorbidities.

Freestanding bifunctional electrodes with outstanding oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) properties are of great significance for zinc-air batteries, attributed to the avoided use of organic binder and strong adhesion with substrates. Herein, a strategy is developed to fabricate freestanding bifunctional electrodes from the predeposited nickel nanoparticles (Ni-NCNT) on carbon fiber paper. The steric effect of monodispersed SiO2 nanospheres limits the configuration of carbon atoms forming 3D interconnected nanotubes with uniformly distributed NiN2 active sites. The bifunctional electrodes (Ni-NCNT) demonstrate ideal ORR and OER properties. The zinc-air batteries assembled with Ni-NCNT directly exhibit extremely outstanding long term stability (2250 cycles with 10 mA cm-2 charge/discharge current density) along with high power density of 120 mV cm-2 and specific capacity of 834.1 mA h g-1 . This work provides a new view to optimize the distribution of active sites and the electrode structure.

RESUMO

A novel graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) bridge between two semiconductors (AgBr and graphitic carbon nitride) was created to boost photoelectrochemical performance. The heterojunction created makes the whole system a Z-scheme catalyst. For the construction of this catalyst, the syringe pump methodology was adopted and different analytical techniques were used for the confirmation of structure and morphology. High angle annular dark field (HAADF), dark field (DF), DF-4 and DF-2 techniques, using Z-contrast phenomena, confirmed the heterostructure (ABGCN) and its composition. The constructed structure showed an enhanced photoelectrochemical and catalytic property against 'acute toxicity category-III (MM)' and 'category-IV (tetracycline hydrochloride (TH))' organic pollutants. The constructed catalyst degraded the MM in 57 min and the TH in 35 min with degradation rates of 0.01489 min-1 and 0.02387 min-1, respectively, due to the accumulation of photogenerated electrons on the conduction band (CB) of g-C3N4 and photogenerated holes on the valence band (VB) of AgBr by the transformation of charges through the graphene bridge. An ion trapping study also revealed that ·O2 and h+ were the active species which actively participated in the photocatalytic reaction.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to confirm whether hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and the levels of liver enzymes would increase the risk of prediabetes and diabetes mellitus (DM) in China. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 10,741 individuals was enrolled in this prospective cohort study. Cox regression analysis was used to calculate the Hazard ratios (HRs) to evaluate the relationships between HBV infection and the risk of DM and prediabetes. Decision trees and dose response analysis were used to explore the effects of liver enzymes levels on DM and prediabetes. RESULTS: In baseline population, HBV infection ratio was 5.31%. In non-adjustment model, the HR of DM in HBV infection group was 1.312 (95% CI, 0.529-3.254). In model adjusted for gender, age and liver cirrhosis, the HR of DM in HBV infection group were 1.188 (95% CI, 0.478-2.951). In model adjusted for gender, age, liver cirrhosis, smoking, drinking, the HR of DM was 1.178 (95% CI, 0.473-2.934). In model further adjusted for education, family income and occupation, the HR of DM was 1.230 (95% CI, 0.493-3.067). With the increases of levels of Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and Gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), the risk of prediabetes was gradually increasing (Pnon-linearity<0.05). There were dose-response relationships between ALT, GGT and the risk of DM (Pnon-linearity<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: HBV infection was not associated with the risk of prediabetes and DM. The levels of liver enzymes increased the risk of prediabetes and DM.

RESUMO

Photoelectrochemical carbon dioxide conversion to fuels such as carbon monoxide, methanol, and ethylene exhibits great potential to solve energy issues. Unfortunately, CO2 conversion efficiency is still low due to violent charge recombination at the photoanode. Herein, a novel 3D macroporous ferroelectric heterojunction composed of BiFeO3 and LiNbO3 is developed by a template-assisted sol-gel method, aiming at facilitating charge transfer kinetics. As expected, a tremendous enhancement of photocurrent density (300 times vs bare planar BiFeO3 film) and charge transfer efficiency (up to 76%) is obtained in the HCO3 - /CO2 system without any cocatalyst. The photoelectrochemical performance is switchable by poling to form a depolarization electric field. Photoelectrochemical impedance spectroscopy reveals that the charge transfer resistance decreases due to the synergistic effect of BiFeO3 3D macroporous skeleton and LiNbO3 passivation layer by tuning surface states. These results suggest a novel strategy for enhancing photoelectrochemical water oxidation as the anodic reaction of CO2 reduction.

RESUMO

The insulator of the sulfur cathode and the easy dendrites growth of the lithium anode are the main barriers for lithium-sulfur cells in commercial application. Here, a 3D NPC@S/3D NPC@Li full cell is reported based on 3D hierarchical and continuously porous nickel photonic crystal (NPC) to solve the problems of sulfur cathode and lithium anode at the same time. In this case, the 3D NPC@S cathode can not only offer a fast transfer of electron and lithium ion, but also effectively prevent the dissolution of polysulfides and the tremendous volume change during cycling, and the 3D NPC@Li anode can efficiently inhibit the growth of lithium dendrites and volume expansion, too. As a result, the cell exhibits a high reversible capacity of 1383 mAh g-1 at 0.5 C (the current density of 837 mA g-1 ), superior rate ability (the reversible capacity of 735 mAh g-1 at the extremely high current density of 16 750 mA g-1 ) with excellent coulombic efficiency of about 100% and an excellent cycle life over 500 cycles with only about 0.026% capacity loss per cycle.

RESUMO

Existing metasurfaces for high efficiency optical phase control in transmission mode are all based on dielectric materials. Metallic metasurfaces for optical phase control in transmission mode never achieved efficiency above 40%. In this paper, we theoretically demonstrate that metallic metasurface constructed by thick nanoparticles can realize high efficiency (above 85%) phase control in optical wavelength range. We investigated the resonant properties of thick nanoparticle arrays and found that bulk magnetic resonance can be formed by antiparallel dipole electric resonances on thick nanoparticles' sidewalls. In addition, lateral Fabry-Perot (FP) resonance can be generated in the cavity constituted by adjacent thick nanoparticles. Both of the two resonances exhibit high transmission with near-zero reflection. What's more, the lateral FP resonance can be utilized to manipulate transmitted phase with high efficiency by adjusting the length of thick nanoparticles. The method proposed here may induce a series of new metasurfaces based on thick nanoparticles for various applications.
