RESUMO

To assess the economic ripple effect, this study integrates agent-based modeling (ABM) with a multiregional input-output (MRIO) table to develop an assessment model that considers capacity recovery process. The intermediate and final demands in the MRIO table are used to describe the agents' interdependence. Survival analysis is used to construct capacity rate curves. By defining the first- and second-order ripple effects, ABM is used to capture the ripple process in days. To conduct a case study, the service and retail sectors in Enshi in Hubei, China, are selected as disaster-affected sectors (they were severely affected by the July 17, 2020 flood disaster). The main findings are as follows: (1) With the first-order ripple effect, the losses caused by service and retail are concentrated within Enshi. Enshi's final demand, construction, and raw materials manufacturing sectors as well as Wuhan's construction sector are seriously affected. (2) With the second-order ripple effect, the losses caused by the service and retail sectors expand, forming a prominent industrial ripple chain: "service (retail)-raw materials manufacturing-construction." (3) The direct and indirect losses caused by the service sector are more significant than those caused by the retail sector. However, the loss ratio of the service sector is smaller than that of the retail sector because of its sound industrial structure and strong resilience. Hence, the indirect losses caused by different sectors are not entirely determined by their direct losses; instead, they are also related to the degree of perfection of the structures of different sectors.

RESUMO

AIM: To investigate the influence of perceived organisational justice, professional identity and emotional labour on nurses' job performance. BACKGROUND: Previous studies have not explored the impact of professional identity and emotional labour on the relationship between perceived organisational justice and job performance. However, how to mobilize the enthusiasm of nurses and improve their job performance is the key for nursing managers to realize the sustainable development of hospitals. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey design was conducted. A total of 951 nurses from public hospitals in China participated in the survey from March-June 2021. The descriptive statistical approach, Pearson's correlation analysis and the PROCESS Macro Model 4 and 14 in regression analysis were used to analyse the available data. RESULTS: The results showed that nurses' perceived organisational justice, professional identity, emotional labour and job performance were significantly positive correlations between every two variables, with coefficients ranging between .24 and .75. Professional identity played a whole mediating role in perceived organisational justice and job performance, accounting for 98.04% of the total effect; meanwhile, this process was moderated by emotional labour. CONCLUSIONS: Perceived organisational justice positively predicted nurses' job performance; as a mediating mechanism with moderating, professional identity and emotional labour further explained how perceived organisational justice promoted the job performance of nurses. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT: This study highlighted the moderated mediation role of professional identity and emotional labour between nurses' perceived organisational justice and job performance. Understanding this mechanism has guiding significance for nursing managers to improve nurses' job performance.

RESUMO

AIM: To test the influence of humble leadership, job embeddedness and affective commitment on the voice behaviour of nurses. BACKGROUND: A nurse's voice behaviour is regarded as an important measure to identify and solve problems in medical institutions, and improve patients' satisfaction. It is urgent to pay sufficient attention to nurses' advice to determine which factors can stimulate enthusiasm in this area. METHODS: This study is a cross-sectional study involving 598 nurses. RESULTS: The results showed that humble leadership, job embeddedness, affective commitment and voice behaviour were significantly positively correlated. Job embeddedness played a partial mediating role in humble leadership and affective commitment; meanwhile, affective commitment also partially mediated the influence of job embeddedness on voice behaviour. CONCLUSIONS: Humble leadership was the key to improve the voice behaviour of nurses; as a mediating mechanism, job embeddedness and affective commitment further explained how humble leadership promoted the voice behaviour of nurses. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT: The effects of humble leadership, job embeddedness and affective commitment to voice behaviour could be used to guide the management of clinical nurses. In particular, the humble leadership style perceived by nurses and the enhanced emotional connection with the organisation would contribute to the generation of voice behaviour.

RESUMO

University library spaces play an important role in the learning experience of students. However, the traditional designs for these learning spaces no longer meet the needs of users, and researchers have been turning their attention to university library space renovation. By combing existing theories and practices, this study determined a framework of six university library space renovation design principles and subsequently conducted a survey to examine university library space user learning experience in two university libraries in Wuhan, China. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS. From the questionnaire-based survey results, this study determined seven design elements that affect the learning experience of university library users. The results of binary logistic regression showed that two elements, indoor physical space comfort and indoor acoustic environment comfort, have positive effects on the frequency and length of visits to the library. Key spatial elements that can promote library space users' learning experience were also identified, thus providing data that can reliably inform future design strategies for the space renovation of university libraries.

RESUMO

Background: Mobile phone addiction brings many adverse effects to teenagers, such as physical health problems, emotional problems, and academic failure, and studies have found that social support is an important influencing factor. Therefore, considering institutional, cultural and economic differences, we aimed to investigate the association between mobile phone addiction and social support among mainland Chinese teenagers, and explored the moderators affecting the relation. Methods: Based on the PRISMA method, a meta-analysis was applied to quantitatively synthesize relevant findings to obtain reliable estimates of effect sizes and conduct moderator analyses. Results: In total, 92 studies involving 59,716 participants and 92 effect sizes were identified by a systematic literature search. A significant low degree of negative correlation was found between mobile phone addiction and social support (r = -0.174, 95%CI = -0.213 to -0.134, p < 0.001, I 2 = 96.1%). Moreover, the present meta-analysis observed significant moderating effects of participants' gender, and region on the association between social support and mobile phone addiction. Conclusion: This study suggests that the mobile phone addiction level of teenagers could be reduced by increasing social support, and actions to improve their social support levels should be proposed based on their gender and regional differences. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The incidence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is high worldwide, and patients with COPD commonly suffer from mood disorders, such as symptoms of anxiety and depression. However, it is difficult to communicate with patients face to face to solve these psychological problems in the case of the fluctuations in symptoms of COPD and COVID-19 prevalence, which may lead to the fact that patients with COPD are more likely to suffer exacerbations, frequent readmissions and worse survival. Mindfulness-based interventions are a stress-reducing therapy with mindfulness at its core. Remote mindfulness-based interventions combine the advantages of high availability, accessibility, low cost and anonymity and can solve the barriers to access that many patients face when attending face-to-face programmes. Therefore, remote mindfulness-based interventions may be an effective way to improve the mental health of patients with COPD. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: We will search PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CNKI, PsycNET, MEDLINE, Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection and Web of Science to select eligible studies that were published. The eligible studies will be screened, extracted and then the methodological quality will be evaluated independently by two reviewers. Review manager software V.5.3 software and Stata V.14.0 software will be used for meta-analysis. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Ethical approval is not required for a systematic review protocol. Findings of the proposed systematic review will be disseminated through conference presentations and publication in a peer-reviewed journal. PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER: CRD42021265286.

RESUMO

L-asparaginase (E.C.3.5.1.1) hydrolyzes L-asparagine to L-aspartic acid and ammonia, which has been widely applied in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Microbes have advantages for L-asparaginase production, and there are several commercially available forms of L-asparaginase, all of which are derived from microbes. Generally, L-asparaginase has an optimum pH range of 5.0-9.0 and an optimum temperature of between 30 and 60 °C. However, the optimum temperature of L-asparaginase from hyperthermophilic archaea is considerable higher (between 85 and 100 °C). The native properties of the enzymes can be enhanced by using immobilization techniques. The stability and recyclability of immobilized enzymes makes them more suitable for food applications. This current work describes the classification, catalytic mechanism, production, purification, and immobilization of microbial L-asparaginase, focusing on its application as an effective reducer of acrylamide in fried potato products, bakery products, and coffee. This highlights the prospects of cost-effective L-asparaginase, thermostable L-asparaginase, and immobilized L-asparaginase as good candidates for food application in the future.

RESUMO

This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of music therapy on anxiety from randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The following electronic databases were utilized for selecting eligible studies that were published from inception to March 2021: PubMed, Cochrane Library, PsycINFO, Medline, Web of Science, and Embase. Standard mean difference (SMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI) values were used to evaluate the efficacy of music therapy on anxiety. Thirty-two studies with 1,924 participants were included in the meta-analysis. Music therapy lasted an average of 7.5 sessions (range, 1-24 sessions), while the average follow-up duration was 7.75 weeks (range, 1-16 weeks). Music therapy significantly reduced anxiety compared to the control group at post-intervention (SMD = -0.36, 95% CI: -0.54 to -0.17, p < 0.05), but not at follow-up (SMD = -0.23, 95% CI: -0.53 to 0.08, p >0.05). Subgroup analysis found a significantly positive effect of music therapy on anxiety in < 60 and ≥ 60 age-group (SMD = -0.31, 95% CI: -0.52 to -0.09, p < 0.05; SMD = -0.45, 95% CI: -0.85 to -0. 05, p < 0.05), developed and developing country group (SMD = -0.28, 95% CI: -0.51 to -0.06, p < 0.05; SMD = -0.49, 95% CI: -0.80 to -0.17, p < 0.05), < 12 and ≥ 12 sessions group (SMD = -0.24, 95% CI: = -0.44 to -0.03, p < 0.05; SMD = -0.59, 95% CI: -0.95 to -0.22, p < 0.05), respectively. Our study indicated that music therapy can significantly improve anxiety during treatment. But given that only eight RCTs reported the effects of music therapy at follow-up and the duration of follow-up was inconsistent, further researches are needed on the lasting effects after the intervention is discontinued.

RESUMO

The impact of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on children aged 3-6 can be severe. Vaccination for COVID-19 is one of the most important primary preventative measures to reduce disease transmission. Parents are hesitant to vaccinate their children against COVID-19 because it was reported in the news that some adults have had adverse reactions to the vaccine. This study aims to investigate the willingness of Chinese parents of 3-6 year old children to vaccinate them with the COVID-19 vaccine and identify what factors influence their decisions. A survey was conducted using a two-stage stratified random sampling method from December 2020 to February 2021. We used univariate analysis and multivariate binary logistic analysis to explore potential factors that may determine the acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the 468 parents who participated, 86.75% were willing to vaccinate their children with the COVID-19 vaccine. Parents who were female (OR = 2.591; 95% CI: 0.432-4.689), recognized their children in the high-risk category (OR = 2.494; 95% CI:1.244-5.002), often followed-up with COVID-19 vaccine-related information (OR = 9.065; 95% CI: 3.220-28.654), believed in the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine (OR = 3.068; 95% CI: 1.313-7.168), or thought the COVID-19 vaccine could prevent COVID-19 (OR = 13.750; 95% CI: 2.516-75.140) were more willing to vaccinate their children. To ease parents' hesitation about vaccines, the authority organization should release updated information on the safety and reliability of vaccines, target gender-specific health education for parents, and ask the media to report scientifically support information.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patients after breast cancer surgery have a high sense of stigma due to the formation of surgical scars, loss of breast shape or other reasons, leading to anxiety, depression, and other adverse mental health problems, thus reducing their quality of life. Remote peer support intervention based on telephone, internet or email is low-cost and easy to spread, and protects patients' privacy, solves the barriers to access that many patients face when attending face-to-face programs. Therefore, remote peer support may be an effective way to reduce stigma and improve mental health in patients after breast cancer surgery during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. METHODS: Eight databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CNKI, PsycNET, MEDLINE, Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection and Web of Science) will be used to select eligible studies that were published from inception to May, 2021. The eligible studies will be screened, extracted and then the methodological quality will be evaluated independently by 2 reviewers. Review manager software version 5.3 software and Stata version 14.0 software will be used for meta-analysis. RESULTS: The results of this study will show the effect of remote peer support on stigma, depression and anxiety in patients after breast cancer surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic and will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication. CONCLUSION: The results of this study will provide evidence for the effectiveness of remote peer support in patients after breast cancer surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic. RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of peer support on self-efficacy and self-management in people with type 2 diabetes. METHODS: Eight databases were utilized for selecting eligible studies that were published from inception to Jan., 2020. The eligible studies were screened, extracted and then the methodological quality was evaluated independently by two researchers. RevMan version 5.3 software and Stata version 14.0 software were utilized for the meta-analysis. RESULTS: Seventeen studies were included in the meta-analysis. Compared with the control group, peer support significantly improved self-efficacy [SMD = 0.41, 95 % CI = (0.20, 0.62), p = 0.0001] and self-management [SMD = 1.21, 95 % CI = (0.58, 1.84), p = 0.0002] in people with type 2 diabetes, but had no significant effect on distress (p = 0.34). CONCLUSIONS: Peer support significantly improved self-efficacy and self-management, but there was no clear evidence that peer support improved distress in people with type 2 diabetes. More studies are needed to further verify the validity of the results. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: This meta-analysis suggested that peer support should be considered as a complementary treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes. Medical staff can encourage the use of peer support in the teaching content of patients with type 2 diabetes to improve their self-efficacy and self-management.

RESUMO

To evaluate the efficacy of adjunct music therapy on patients with schizophrenia, we conducted a meta-analysis of currently available randomized controlled trials and controlled clinical trials. Eight electronic databases (CNKI, PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Psychology and behavioural Sciences Collection, and Medline) were systematically searched from inception to January 2020. Standard mean difference (SMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI) values were used to evaluate the effects of music therapy. Finally, we selected eighteen studies comprising 1,212 participants comparing with control conditions. The meta-analysis demonstrated that adjunct music therapy significantly improved total symptoms (SMD = -0.48, 95%CI: -0.74 to -0.22), negative symptoms (SMD=-0.56, 95%CI: -0.72 to -0.40), depression symptoms (SMD = -0.35, 95% CI: -0.54 to -0.17), and quality of life (SMD = 0.35, 95%CI: 0.07 to 0.62) in people with schizophrenia compared with the control group. In addition, the meta-analysis indicated no publication bias for total symptoms, negative symptoms, and positive symptoms. The sensitivity analysis showed that the result was reliable. But the quality of evidence is still low, more well-designed studies with larger sample size and high quality are needed to confirm the efficiency of adjunct music therapy in treating schizophrenia.
