RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The study's value is based on a complete understanding of the employee polychronicity-employee intention to leave the relationship in the health care sector. OBJECTIVE: This study examines (1) the role of job engagement in alleviating the relationship between employee polychronicity and intention to leave, and (2) the moderating impact of perceived supervisor support as a relationship. METHOD: This study employed a cross-cultural research design and collected data from nurses working in public sector hospitals. Through job engagement and perceived supervisor support (PSS), the effect of nurses' polychronicity on turnover intention was examined using the PLS-SEM approach. RESULTS: The findings of this study demonstrate that employee polychronicity has an impact on employee turnover. Employee engagement appears to operate as a mediator in the association between employee polychronicity and intention to leave and a moderating effect of PSS. CONCLUSION: By emphasizing employee engagement as a mediator and moderating role, the perceived supervisor supports the association between polychronicity and intention to leave of nurses. This study offered a crisp perspective on the complexities of the links between polychronicity, engagement, perceived organizational support, and employees' intention to leave.

RESUMO

Autophagy is being increasingly recognized as an important regulator of intestinal ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)injury, but its exact role is still debated. Emerging evidence suggests that miR-146a-5p is involved in the initiation and development of I/R injury, but its role in intestinal I/R injury remains unclear. The present study generated an intestinal I/R mouse model and an oxygen glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) Caco-2 cell model and found that autophagy was increased and contributed to the intestinal injury and cell death induced by I/R and OGD/R. In addition, in both I/R and OGD/R models, the miR-146a-5p expression level was decreased and accompanied by an increase in TXNIP expression. By transfecting cells with an miR-146a-5p inhibitor or mimic, we observed that miR-146a-5p inhibits autophagy during OGD/R by targeting TXNIP; this was confirmed by the dual luciferase reporter gene assay. Additionally, through overexpression and knockdown cell lines, we established that TXNIP regulates autophagy during intestinal I/R via the PRKAA/mTOR pathway. The interaction between TXNIP and p-PRKAA was verified by immunofluorescence co-localization and immunoprecipitation assays. Moreover, we confirmed that TXNIP is indispensable for miR-146a-5p-mediated cell protection. Finally, we observed that miR-146a-5p overexpression inhibits autophagy and attenuates intestinal I/R injury via the PRKAA/mTOR pathway by targeting TXNIP in vivo. In conclusion, this study highlights the role of miR-146a-5p in regulating autophagy by targeting TXNIP, suggesting that miR-146a-5p may be a novel drug target for intestinal I/R therapy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Despite the increasing body of research on workplace incivility, the relationship between co-worker/supervisor incivilities and job-affective well-being have received relatively little consideration from the scholars. This study investigates the impact of polychronicity on nurses' psychological well-being in the healthcare sector. OBJECTIVE: According to COR theory, this study's main objective is to investigate the impact of two aspects of incivilities, co-worker, and supervisor incivilities, as the moderating effect on the relationship between polychronicity and job-affective psychological well-being. METHODS: The sample data was collected from 260 nurse's staff who were working in hospitals. The proposed model hypothesis was tested through SPSS-Amos-structural equation modeling. RESULTS: The result shows that polychronic nurses show high job engagement and job performance in a hospital environment. This study's findings revealed that co-workers and supervisors' higher incivility weakens the positive relationship between polychronicity and job-affective well-being. CONCLUSION: Today, retained the employees are a perilous issue in every organization, especially in hospital sectors, where nurses are working in stressful working environments, facing bullying, harassment, and uncivil behavior from patients' side, co-workers, and supervisor. These types of behaviors are not only affecting employees' well-being, commitment, and job performance but also their mental health and intent to leave. Similarly, the effect on organizational goals, shareholders' value, and progress makes an effective mechanism to control the negative behaviors that would be an apparent advantage for administration and managers to efficiently attain organizational goals.

RESUMO

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are widely used in developing nations as a dynamic solution for socio-economic development. Pakistan has seen a rapid increase in the use of ICTs during the previous decade. The purpose of this study is to examine how polychronicity affects procrastination behavior when it is influenced by ICTs. According to this study, individuals are described as a dynamic and destructive kind of self-regulation failure in ICTs. Procrastination is a behavior that prevents emerging economies from growing from developing countries. We researched the group-level polychronicity influence of the individual behavior and the mechanism of procrastination from a team-level perspective of worker behavior. This study data collected 231 workers from 76 groups working in ICTs in Pakistan. The results revealed that the group polychronicity and the behavior of group members were positively linked by taking the work overload as a mediator. Moreover, group cohesiveness moderates the role between polychronicity and work overload diminishing the mediation procession between-group polychronicity and individual procrastination. The practical importance of this study is to understand the causes of procrastination, and how to decrease this obstacle to a fairer workplace. It also helps to decide the professional route that is most suited to personality characteristics.

RESUMO

Automatic localization of the seizure onset zone (SOZ) is able to output an objective result and help clinical doctors greatly in epilepsy therapy. Transfer entropy is one of the most frequently used measures based on information theory to localize the SOZ. However, if only using transfer entropy to localize the SOZ, different results can be obtained during different periods, thus humans still need to identify which one is most reasonable. This paper proposes a new method to output only a few (e.g. 1 or 2) results along a long time slot. Based on the results of traditional transfer entropy, we use a 3D convolution method to enhance the connection between the spatial channels and also between different temporal positions. After that, a connected component method is used to extract the stable blocks that indicate the SOZ. To evaluate the effectiveness of our method, preliminary experiments on a short iEEG signals are conducted. The experimental results show that our method can achieve a sensitivity of 100% and a false positive rate of 1.79% for SOZ localization.

RESUMO

Congenital bilateral perisylvian syndrome (CBPS) is characterized by epilepsy, cognitive deficits, pseudobulbar palsy and diplegia of the facial, pharyngeal and masticatory muscles. Epilepsy has been described in nearly 90% of affected patients. The epilepsy is usually severe and pharmacoresistant in about 55 percent of CBPS patients. Until now, only 12 cases of surgical treatment on CBPS have been reported; the surgical treatment is usually corpus callosotomy. In this paper, we describe a previously unreported combination of anterior corpus callosotomy plus anterior temporal lobectomy with amygdalohippocampectomy for a patient with CBPS, resulting in a satisfactory clinical outcome. Based on this case, we suggest that palliative focal resective surgery combined with anterior corpus callosotomy should be considered when a predominance of the epileptiform discharges suggests focal onset in patients with CBPS. Meanwhile, the clinical decision to adopt this combination surgery must be based on a thorough pre-surgical evaluation, and should take into account the clinical, radiological, and EEG features.
