RESUMO

Complex biochemical study of the connective tissue of the stomach and liver of white rats under experimental gastroduodenal ulcer and of the effect of new high-protein vitaminized product "Bioctim" and ethonium has been carried out. The content of noncollagen proteins was determined from tyrosine, that of total glycoproteins from hexosamine, proteoglycans--from hexuronic acids, collagen--from oxyproline. The induced pathology is observed to result in the decrease of the concentration of tyrosine of hexosamines, hexuronic acids and oxyproline. A combined application of the above drugs takes most efficient favourable effect on the biochemical processes in the connective tissue of the stomach under given pathology.

RESUMO

The results of the study made in 43 patients with gastroduodenal ulcer have shown an increase in the production of proinflammatory cytokines (interleukin-1 beta, the tumor necrosis factor-alpha) and a decrease in the blood serum content of the transforming growth factor-beta, which events come to favour degradation processes in collagen and fucoglycoproteins with a concomitant increase in free oxyproline, serum protein-unbound fucose against the background of a suppressed synthesis of the extracellular matrix carbohydrate-protein components as evidenced by the serum diminished concentrations of protein-bound oxyproline and fucose, hexuronic acids, and hexosamines.

RESUMO

The drug Wobe-Mugos E was prescribed to patients with chronic lymphoid leukosis and multiple myeloma during and following the administration of chemotherapy treatment, 3 tablets on a three-times daily schedule 30 to 45 minutes before meals for 2 to 4 weeks. A positive effect was manifested by improvement in morphofunctional properties of erythrocytes, detoxicating and antioxidant effects. There were no cases of intolerability or side effects of the drug in the examined patients.

RESUMO

Combined differentiated rehabilitative and staged treatment of 167 patients with peptic ulcer resulted in stable reduction in cellular membrane permeability, subsiding of catabolic processes in cells, steady normalization of enzymic activity of tissue respiration, as well as activation of reparation processes in connective tissue elements and structures located in the connective tissue (capillaries included). The described mode of treatment appeared to be superior to the conventional one, resulting in a substantial improvement in microcirculation in gastric mucosa. Normalization of protein-synthetic processes in the connective tissue makes for enhancing of the gastric mucosa resistance and prevention of the relapse of the disease.

RESUMO

Blood content was studied of gastrin, insulin, glucagon by radioimmunoassay as were patterns of histomorphometric picture of gastric mucosa in 120 patients with duodenal ulcer before and after treatment. Important age-associated changes were found to occur in ulcer disease in the time course of treatment, in blood concentration of the above hormones as well as quantitative alterations of cells of the gastric mucosa fundal glands.

RESUMO

Overall sixty-two patients, in different age brackets, with cirrhosis of the liver were examined. Of these, 42 presented with anemia, while 20 with no anemia. All patients were evaluated for activity of lipid peroxidation and state of the antioxidant systems. Cirrhotic patients with anemia displayed more profound dysfunction of antioxidant systems. This led to disorganization of the erythrocytic membranes' lipid and protein components, worsening of their rheologic properties, causing morbid shifts in the receptors' function. The above pathologies combined affect the degree of anemia in cirrhotic patients. Anemic syndrome in this patient population was managed with anaprilin, a beta-adrenoblocker.

RESUMO

As many as 98 patients with chronic diffusive liver diseases were studied for markers of endogenous intoxication syndrome as they were for intensity of lipid peroxidation (LPO) processes, condition of the antiradical defence systems, and detoxicating effectiveness of the drug "Thiotriasoline". Revealed in the patients were intensification of LPO processes, enhancement of the glutathionic system enzymes activity, decrease in superoxide dismutase. Accumulation in blood of malonic dialdehyde and molecular LPO products is believed to be a factor of the endogenous intoxication syndrome progression. A correlation was found between activity of LPO processes, intensification of endotoxicosis and degree of activity of the inflammatory process in the liver. The results obtained attest to the need for the antioxidant and adequate detoxicative therapy. High detoxicating efficacy of the drug "Thiotriasoline" has been shown.

RESUMO

1.5-2 versus 3-4 months following the in-patient stage of treatment without further antiradical therapy, patients-juveniles and young people with ulcer disease demonstrate compensated versus decompensated disorders in the glutathione system activity respectively, which results in disturbances in the free-radical oxidation processes, amplification of alteration, decrease in proliferation in the mucous membrane of the stomach. Antiradical therapy being continued avoids such a pathology. A necessity is substantiated for taking measures on an uninterrupted long-term basis, aimed to correct the free-radical oxidation processes in patients with peptic ulcer of juvenile age and young people.

RESUMO

Analysis of the data obtained suggests that uncontrolled intensification of processes of free-radical lipid peroxidation is a bad prognostic sign in uncomplicated peptic ulcer as is rise in the aggregation activity of erythrocytes, viscosity of blood, decline in the ability of erythrocytes to deform, particularly so in peptic ulcer complicated by acute hemorrhage. The changed erythrocytes are involved into the evolution of the vicious circle causing disturbances in the gastric and duodenal mucosa microcirculation, which fact suggest the need for correction of impaired plastic properties of erythrocytes.

RESUMO

In the examination of 64 patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis, some specificities of functioning of decompensation mechanisms in the glutathione antiradical system were established as were changes in morphofunctional and receptor properties of erythrocytes in chronic obstructive bronchitis. The patients were shown to have derived benefit from a combined treatment involving the use of the enzymic drug preparation Wobe-Mugos E which was found to make for improvement of rheological properties of erythrocytes, their capability of depositing and transporting catecholamines.

RESUMO

Microbiologic investigations were carried out of excrements as were measurements of blood levels of malonic dialdegyde, reduced glutathione and activity of glutathione-dependent enzymes in 36 patients with peptic ulcer when they experienced exacerbation. Gastric and duodenal ulcer in exacerbation was accompanied by dysbacteriosis of the large intestine, uncontrolled augmentation of the processes of free-radical lipid oxidation against the background of impairment of functional systems of antiradical defence, which fact plays its part in relapsing of gastroduodenal ulcer.

RESUMO

Ninety-eight patients with chronic cholecystitis were studied for intensity of lipid peroxidation (LPO), state of the glutathione system (GS), activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD). Revealed in patients at a mature age presenting with exacerbation of chronic cholecystitis were greater extent of LPO, rise in activity of GS enzymes, decline in SOD activity. The main determinant is degree of acuity of the inflammatory process in the gallbladder rather than presence or absence of biliary calculi. The need for and efficacy of antioxidant therapy is shown.

RESUMO

Based on the analysis of results of examination of 60 patients with toxic affections of the liver particular features of the anti-radical defence decompensation mechanisms have been established together with changes in morphofunctional properties of red cells in toxic hepatitis in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. It was considered expedient to include the polyenzymic preparation Wobenzyme into the therapeutic complex since it had been shown to make for normalization of the red cells' ability to undergo deformation, lowering the degree of viscosity of RBC suspension in the above patients.
