Glomangiosarcoma with metastasis to the maxilla.

A thorough review of the literature disclosed very little information on glomangiosarcoma with no reported cases of verified metastases. We present a case which may be the first instance of oral metastatic glomangiosarcoma to be reported in the literature.

Bilateral oronasal fistulas secondary to an infected maxillary subperiosteal implant. Report of a case.

The literature pertaining to maxillary subperiosteal implants is relatively sparse. There are even fewer reports of complications following this implant technique. The following article describes the surgical management of bilateral oronasal fistulas that developed secondary to chronic infection following the placement of a maxillary subperiosteal implant.

Posttraumatic extracapsular temporomandibular bony ankylosis between the coronoid process and base of the skull. Report of a case.

Extracapsular temporomandibular bony ankylosis between the coronoid process and the base of the skull but not involving the zygomatic arch is very uncommon. We have presented such a case, which developed secondary to heterotopic bone formation following trauma. Treatment consisted of ostectomy between the sigmoid notch and the base of the skull.

Bilateral coronoid hyperplasia resulting in severe limitation of mandibular movement. Report of a case.

A case of bilateral coronoid hyperplasia with limitation of mandibular motion in a female patient has been presented. Her symptoms began to develop around the age of 44. We believe that this is the first case to be reported in a female. Also, in all other reported cases symptoms began to develop around the onset of puberty. The literature has been reviewed with specific reference to the etiology of bilateral coronoid hyperplasia. This case brings the total number of reported cases to twenty-two. We hope that if similar cases are identified in female patients the practitioners will report them promptly. Only in this way will we be in a better position to understand the etiology of bilateral coronoid hyperplasia with special reference to heredity.

Selective emergency arteriography in cases of penetrating maxillofacial trauma.

Selective emergency arteriography can be a most important diagnostic adjunct in the evaluation of suspected vascular injury sustained during penetrating maxillofacial trauma. Arteriography can provide essential information prior to operative exploration and treatment and may even obviate surgical exploration. Complications are rare, and contraindications are few.

Life-threatening toxic methemoglobinemia induced by prilocaine.

Methemoglobinemia is reviewed briefly with particular reference to prilocaine. One case of prilocaine induced toxic methemoglobinemia is presented and discussed to remind the practitioner that although rare, this condition can be life threatening, and should be considered in the differential diagnosis of cyanosis.
