RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the effect of follicular size on the clinical outcomes of frozen-thawed embryo transfer induced by human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) of natural cycles on ovulation. Methods: Clinical data of 427 cycles of frozen-thawed single blastocyst transfer in Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from January 2016 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into 15-16 mm group (15≤diameter≤16 mm, n=66), 16-17 mm group (1620 mm group (diameter>20 mm, n=26), according to the maximum follicle diameter on the induction day of hCG ovulation induction. The estradiol and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels, and clinical pregnancy rate, abortion rate and live birth rate were compared in five groups. Results: There were statistically significant differences in estradiol and LH levels among the five groups on the day of hCG induction (all P<0.05). Estradiol levels in 15-16 mm group to >20 mm group gradually increased on the day of hCG induction, and estradiol level in 15-16 mm group was significantly lower than those in 17-18 mm group, 18-20 mm group and >20 mm group (median: 1 002.3 vs 1 103.3 vs 1 171.2 vs 1 539.0 pmol/L), with statistical significances (P=0.034, P<0.001, P=0.002). On the day of hCG induction, LH levels in 15-16 mm group to >20 mm group showed a decreasing trend, and LH level in 15-16 mm group was significantly higher than those in 17-18 mm group and >20 mm group (median: 37.73 vs 28.24 vs 24.11 U/L), with statistically significant differences (P=0.007, P=0.006). There were no significant differences in clinical pregnancy rate, abortion rate and live birth rate in 15-16 mm group to >20 mm group (all P>0.05). Conclusion: In the natural cycle protocol of hCG induced ovulation, the small follicle group could achieve similar clinical outcomes compared with normal sized follicles in the single blastocyst transfer of frozen-thawed embryos.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to analyze the application effect of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) comprehensive nursing in diabetic foot patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS: 230 patients with diabetic foot admitted to Third people's Hospital of Haikou from January 2019 to April 2022 were classified as two groups, which consisted of a control group (n = 95) and an experimental group (n = 135). The control group took routine nursing intervention, while the experimental group took TCM comprehensive nursing intervention. The effect of intervention was compared by inflammatory factors (B-FGF, EGF, VEGF, and PDGF), wound area, self-rated anxiety scale (SAS), and self-rated depression scale (SDS). RESULTS: After nursing, the levels of B-FGF, EGF, VEGF, and PDGF were higher in the experimental group (all p < 0.05). The total effective rate of diabetic foot recovery in the experimental group was 94.87% (74/78), higher than 87.67% (64/73) in the control group (p = 0.026). After nursing, the scores of SAS and SDS in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group (all p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The application of TCM comprehensive nursing in diabetic foot patients can greatly change the levels of B-FGF, EGF, VEGF, and PDGF in wound tissue, promote the healing of ulcer surface, improve patients' anxiety and depression, and enhance the quality of life of patients.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the epidemiological characteristic of a COVID-19 outbreak caused by 2019-nCoV Omicron variant BF.7 and other provinces imported in Shenzhen and analyze transmission chains and characteristics. Methods: Field epidemiological survey was conducted to identify the transmission chain, analyze the generation relationship among the cases. The 2019-nCoV nucleic acid positive samples were used for gene sequencing. Results: From 8 to 23 October, 2022, a total of 196 cases of COVID-19 were reported in Shenzhen, all the cases had epidemiological links. In the cases, 100 were men and 96 were women, with a median of age, M (Q1, Q3) was 33(25, 46) years. The outbreak was caused by traverlers initial cases infected with 2019-nCoV who returned to Shenzhen after traveling outside of Guangdong Province. There were four transmission chains, including the transmission in place of residence and neighbourhood, affecting 8 persons, transmission in social activity in the evening on 7 October, affecting 65 persons, transmission in work place on 8 October, affecting 48 persons, and transmission in a building near the work place, affecting 74 persons. The median of the incubation period of the infection, M (Q1, Q3) was 1.44 (1.11, 2.17) days. The incubation period of indoor exposure less than that of the outdoor exposure, M (Q1, Q3) was 1.38 (1.06, 1.84) and 1.95 (1.22, 2.99) days, respcetively (Wald χ2=10.27, P=0.001). With the increase of case generation, the number and probability of gene mutation increased. In the same transmission chain, the proportion of having 1-3 mutation sites was high in the cases in the first generation. Conclusions: The transmission chains were clear in this epidemic. The incubation period of Omicron variant BF.7 infection was shorter, the transmission speed was faster, and the gene mutation rate was higher. It is necessary to conduct prompt response and strict disease control when epidemic occurs.

RESUMO

We theoretically study a particular plasmonic structure with stereo nanoholes array in metallic film, which has remarkable abilities to manipulate the optical polarizations at optical frequencies. The main property is that any linear polarization states including a complete 90° optical rotation can be obtained in transmission by proper structural design in combination of enhanced transmission efficiency. Together with the polarization change, surface plasmon propagation bounded on the surface of transmission side also can be modulated. Furthermore, an analytical Coupled Mode Method (CMM) is developed by introducing a frequency dependent coupling coefficient to describe such optical rotation property in stereo plasmonic systems.

RESUMO

We theoretically studied nonlinear interactions between surface plasmon polariton (SPP) and conventional waveguide mode in nonlinear hybrid waveguide and proposed a possible method to enhance SPP wave via optical parametric amplification (OPA). The phase matching condition of this OPA process is fulfilled by carefully tailoring the dispersions of SPP and guided mode. The influences of incident intensity and phase of guided wave on the OPA process are comprehensively analyzed. It is found that not only a strong enhancement of SPP but also modulations on this enhancement can be achieved. This result indicates potential applications in nonlinear optical integration and modulations.

RESUMO

We theoretically studied a nonlinear optical process in a hybrid plasmonic waveguide composed of a nonlinear dielectric waveguide and a metal film with a separation of a thin air gap. Owing to the hybridization effect of guided mode and surface plasmon polariton mode, this particular waveguide is able to confine the optical-field in a deep subwavelength scale together with low propagation loss. Based on this, efficient second-harmonic generations (SHG) were revealed at the fundamental wavelength of λ=1.55 µm with good field confinement. The SHG efficiency, as well as the coupling coefficient and mode area, were analyzed and discussed in detail with respect to the structural parameters.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to explore the effect of micro ribonucleic acid (miR)-133b on 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium ion (MPP+)-induced apoptosis in the Parkinson's disease (PD) model. MATERIALS AND METHODS: PC12 cells were induced by different concentrations of MPP+ to establish the PD cell model. Subsequently, the survival rate of PC12 cells was detected using Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. Quantitative Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of miR-133b in the PD model induced by different concentrations of MPP+. Next, PC12 cells were transfected with miR-133b mimic and miR-negative control (NC), and divided into MPP+ group, MPP+ + miR-NC group and MPP+ + miR-133b mimic group. Transfection efficiency was verified using qRT-PCR. The apoptosis of cells was detected using terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay. Moreover, the expressions of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) and phosphorylated (p)-ERK1/2 were determined using Western blotting. RESULTS: After MPP+ treatment, the survival rate of PC12 cells significantly declined (p<0.05). MPP+ exhibited toxicity against PC12 cells in a concentration-dependent manner. Meanwhile, cell survival rate decreased remarkably with the increase of MPP+ concentration (p<0.05). With increased concentration of MPP+, the expression of miR-133b in the PD cell model declined significantly (p<0.05). The apoptosis of PC12 cells was remarkably inhibited by overexpression of miR-133b in the PD cell model (p<0.05). In addition, the protein expression of p-ERK1/2 in PC12 cells was notably reduced after overexpression of miR-133b in the PD cell model (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: MiR-133b is lowly expressed in the PD cell model. Furthermore, overexpression of miR-133b inhibits cell apoptosis in the PD cell model by regulating the ERK1/2 signaling pathway.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: DJ-1 is a negative regulator of PTEN and plays a role in tumorigenesis. Abnormal miR-203 expression is associated with pancreatic cancer. Bioinformatics analysis showed a targeted relationship between miR-203 and DJ-1 3'-UTR. This study investigated whether miR-203 regulates DJ-1 expression and its role in pancreatic cancer cell proliferation, apoptosis, and cisplatin (DDP) resistance. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The Dual-Luciferase reporter gene assay validated the targeted regulation between miR-203 and DJ-1. The DDP-resistant cell line SW1990/DDP was established and divided into miR-NC group and miR-203 mimic group followed by analysis of the expression of DJ-1, PTEN and p-AKT, cell apoptosis, and proliferation. RESULTS: There was a targeted relationship between miR-203 and DJ-1 mRNA. The expression of miR-203 in SW1990/DDP cells was significantly lower than that in SW1990 cells, while the expression of DJ-1 mRNA and protein was significantly higher than that in SW1990 cells. Compared with miR-NC group, the expression of DJ-1 and p-AKT protein in SW1990/DDP cells was significantly decreased in miR-203 mimic transfection group, while the expression of PTEN was significantly increased with increased cell apoptosis and decreased cell proliferation, as well as reduced DDP resistance. CONCLUSIONS: The decreased expression of miR-203 and the increased expression of DJ-1 is associated with drug resistance in pancreatic cancer cells. Elevated miR-203 can inhibit the expression of DJ-1, affect the activity of PTEN-PI3K/AKT pathway, inhibit the proliferation of pancreatic cancer cells, induce cell apoptosis, and reduce DDP resistance of pancreatic cancer cells.
