RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate its effect of an evidence-based nursing program for nasal irrigation after endoscopic sinus surgery in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). METHODS: A total of 66 patients with CRS were randomly divided into two groups, for which the experimental group received evidence-based nasal irrigation nursing, and the control group received conventional nursing. Differences in Sino-Nasal Outcome Test-20 (SNOT-20), visual analogue scale (VAS), Lund-Mackay CT, Endoscopic Lund Kennedy Score (LKES) and overall efficacy were assessed between the two groups. RESULTS: 2, 4 and 12 weeks after the intervention, the scores of SNOT-20, VAS, Lund-Mackay CT and LKES in the two groups were significantly lower than those before the surgery (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the scores were significantly lower in the experimental group (P < 0.05). 12 weeks after the intervention, the overall effective rate of treatment in the experimental group was 90.62%, while the control group was 16.43%, but the difference was not statistically significant in treatment effect (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The implementation of nasal irrigation evidence-based nursing program for patients with CRS after endoscopic sinus surgery can promote postoperative nasal mucosal recovery, improve treatment efficiency, and help improve patient comfort, quality of life and other subjective feelings. RESUMO

Excessive gas pressure (GP) in landfills is a potential triggering mechanism for slope failure, which is rarely considered in analytical models. This paper presents a modified analytical model for landfill stability dependent on GP. A two-layered GP model is established to describe the GP above and below the leachate level. The distribution of GP is then used to calculate the factor of safety (FS) using a modified wedge stability analysis method. It is found that the lack of consideration of the GP in landfill stability analysis leads to serious overestimation of the FS. In addition, the GP gas pressure within the landfill accelerates the critical interface of a multilayer liner system shifting from one to another. A new estimation criterion for FS is proposed. The proposed criterion can directly estimate the stability of the landfill by the field-tested pore pressure. Finally, the proposed method is applied to estimate the slope failure of Xiaping landfill in Shenzhen, and the results verify the proposed method.

RESUMO

Walnut oil is an edible oil with high nutritional value, and the roasting process influences its quality and flavor. This study aimed to investigate the effects of roasting on the fatty acid composition, bioactive compounds (tocopherols, polyphenols, and phytosterols), and antioxidant capacity of walnut oil. Additionally, the aroma compounds and sensory characteristics were evaluated to comprehensively assess the variations in walnut oil after roasting. Roasting resulted in no notable impact on the fatty acid composition of walnut oil but increased the content of tocopherols and polyphenols in walnut oil, increasing its antioxidant capacity. Heavy roasting (160°C/20 min) reduced the phytosterol content in walnut oil by 2.3%. In total, 146 volatile compounds were detected in both cold-pressed and roasted walnut oil using headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and 32 key aroma compounds were identified. Aromatic aldehydes, aliphatic aldehydes, and heterocyclic compounds significantly contributed to fragrant walnut oil. Furthermore, the principal component analysis based on quality characteristics and sensory evaluation indicated that moderate roasting (130°C/20 min, 130°C/30 min, and 160°C/10 min) provided walnut oil with a sweet, nutty, and roasted aroma, as well as high levels of linoleic acid, phytosterols, and γ-tocopherol. Although heavy roasting (160°C/15 min and 160°C/20 min) enhanced the antioxidant capacities of walnut oils due to high levels of polyphenols, the oils exhibited an unpleasant burnt aroma. This study showed that roasting promoted the quality and flavor of walnut oil, and moderate conditions endowed walnut oil with a characteristic-rich flavor while maintaining excellent quality.

RESUMO

Fish gelatin (FG)-based wound dressings exhibit superior water absorption capacity, thermal stability, and gelation properties, which enhance the performance of these dressings. In this study, our objective was to investigate the conditions underlying the enzymatic hydrolysis of FG and subsequent cross-linking to prepare high-performance gels. A two-step enzymatic method of protease-catalyzed hydrolysis followed by glutamine transglutaminase (TGase)-catalyzed cross-linking was used to prepare novel high-performance fish gelatin derivatives with more stable dispersion characteristics than those of natural gelatin derivatives. Compared with conventional TGase cross-linked derivatives, the novel derivatives were characterized by an average pore size of 150 µm and increased water solubility (423.06% to 915.55%), water retention (by 3.6-fold to 43.89%), thermal stability (from 313 °C to 323 °C), and water vapor transmission rate, which reached 486.72 g·m-2·24 h-1. In addition, loading glucose oxidase onto the fish gelatin derivatives increased their antibacterial efficacy to >99% against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

RESUMO

When applying axial load on piles subjected to negative skin friction (NSF), the yielded NSF is gradually eliminated. The process is notably influenced by the tip location (Y) and still a lack of understanding. This paper reports three-dimensional numerical simulations with tip locations Y = 1.00 pile diameter (D), 0.25D, 0.00D, and -1.00D. It is found that, against expectations, the dragload and NSF are not proportionally related to the tip location. When maximum dragload (P max) is eventually eliminated due to an axial load, there is also a negative crest of the skin friction, indicating that NSF still exists based on the criterion of the dragload reduction. The side resistance of the piles with Y = 1.00D and 0.25D is almost fully mobilised, which is demonstrated by the increment of end resistance that greatly increases with the larger axial loads. However, the side resistance of the piles with Y = 0.00D and -1.00D has a potential capacity to carry more loads with continued displacement since the increment of end resistance increases almost linearly with axial load. Therefore, when designing the pile foundation, the inclusion of the NSF should be governed by the amount of axial load to be resisted.

RESUMO

Co/Co9S8 nanoparticles encapsulated in a N, S, and O ternary-doped carbon matrix were synthesized utilizing a Co-NSOMOF as a single precursor, and they exhibited excellent bifunctional electrocatalytic activity for the OER and HER. Impressively, the water splitting cell exhibited a low cell voltage of 1.56 V at 10 mA cm-2. The high performances were attributed to the synergistic effect and the protection of multi-heteroatom doped carbon shells for active Co/Co9S8 nanoparticles.

RESUMO

Two amino functionalized Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), {[Zn(Py2TTz)(2-NH2-BDC)]·(DMF)}n (1) and {[Cd(Py2TTz)(2-NH2-BDC)]·(DMF)·0.5(H2O)}n (2) (where Py2TTz = 2,5-bis(4-pyridyl)thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole, 2-NH2-BDC = 2-amino-1,4-benzenedicarboxylate, and DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide), were synthesized and characterized using the primary ligand 2-amino-1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (2-NH2-H2BDC) and the auxiliary ligand 2,5-bis(4-pyridyl)thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole (Py2TTz). They possess similar 2-fold interpenetrated three-dimensional bipillared-layer framework structures composed of typical binuclear metal nodes, 2-NH2-BDC two-dimensional layers and Py2TTz bipillars. Notably, thiazole nitrogen atoms and pendant -NH2 groups are present in channels in the two frameworks. Given their good chemical stabilities, high thermal stabilities, and exposed nitrogen sites, gas adsorption and catalytic experiments of the two MOFs were performed. The results demonstrate that MOF 2 can selectively adsorb carbon dioxide gas; moreover, the two MOFs can be employed as recyclable heterogeneous catalysts for Knoevenagel condensation reactions under solvent-free conditions.
