[The present views of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the senile lung].

The gross postmortem diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and its differential diagnosis with senile lungs on autopsy specimens are much difficult if clinical, X-ray, and functional findings are absent. The diagnosis of COPD is now possible only if medical history and clinical data, external respiratory function, and disease severity are considered and compared with the gross and microscopic autopsy pattern, by obligatorily evaluating the state of collagen and elastic fibers. Taking into account the current definition and essence of COPD, it is expedient to reconsider existing stereotypes in the postmortem diagnosis of this disease, by focusing our efforts on the study of its morphologic substrate, patho-, and morphogenesis.

[Effects of psychological status on external respiration in patients operated for nonspecific lung diseases]. / Vlianie psikhologicheskogo statusa na funktsiiu vneshnego dykhaniia u bol'nykh, operirovannykh po povodu nespetsificheskikh zabolevanii legkikh.

Psychological tests and spirometry were used in examination of 39 patients operated on for severe chronic nonspecific pulmonary diseases. It was found that external respiration function was impaired more in emotionally strained subjects. Improvement of the external respiration coincided with diminution of hypochondria, positive changes in psychological status as a whole.

[A validation for the combined transcerebral exposure to a UHF electrical field and to decimeter waves in the area of the splenic projection in bronchial asthma]. / Obosnovanie kombinirovannogo transtserebral'nogo vozdeistviia EP UVCh i DMB na oblast' proektsii selezenki pri bronkhial'noi astme.

Thirty patients with bronchial asthma of moderate severity in unstable remission were treated with transcerebral UHF electric field and decimeter waves on the spleen region. Clinical and laboratory postexposure findings provided evidence in favour of the regimens used. Tolerance of the procedures, comparative efficacy regarding the clinico-pathogenetic variant, probable mechanisms of therapeutic action are discussed.

[The use of the microclimate of artificial sylvinite speleoclimatic chambers in treating patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis]. / Ispol'zovanie mikroklimata iskusstvennykh sil'vinitovykh speleoklimaticheskikh kamer v lechenii bol'nykh khronicheskim obstruktivnym bronkhitom.

67 patients with purulent and 63 with catarrhal chronic obstructive bronchitis (COB) were subjected to clinico-laboratory, functional and bronchoscopic examinations. 41% of the patients had COB exacerbation, 59% were in partial remission. As shown by improvement in clinical, immunological and morphological indices, blood biochemistry, sputum microscopy, spirometry, bronchoscopy findings, artificial sylvinite speleotherapy is effective in acute and purulent COB.

[Somatoneurological syndromes in diseases of the respiratory organs and approaches to their physiotherapeutic correction]. / Somatonevrologicheskie sindromy pri zabolevaniiakh organov dykhaniia i podkhody k ikh fizioterapevticheskoi korrektsii.

Literature data and original experience of the authors in 46 patients with pulmonary lesions (chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, postoperative conditions after pulmonary surgery) suggest the existence of relationships between pulmonary diseases and those of nervous system (central and peripheral). X-ray, ultrasound dopplerography of the major cerebral vessels, EEG and REG revealed cerebrovascular disorders (vascular insufficiency, slow venous outflow). Physiotherapy produced positive changes both in pulmonary and neurological disorders.

[Halotherapy--a new treatment of bacterial vaginosis]. / Galoterapiia--novyi sposob lecheniia bakterial'nogo vaginoza.

The analysis was made of clinical efficacy, some mechanisms of a therapeutic action and techniques of halotherapy used for the first time in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. High efficacy, long-term aftereffect and advantages of halotherapy vs drug therapy are shown.

[Transcerebral exposure to sinusoidal modulated currents in bronchial asthma patients]. / Transtserebral'noe vozdeistvie sinusoidal'nymi modulirovannymi tokami u bol'nykh bronkhial'noi astmoi.

Clinical examination of 85 patients with bronchial asthma (BA) revealed thyroid affection proved by ultrasonic and/or hormone profile investigation in 42(49%) patients. Transcerebral treatment with sinusoidal modulated currents gave rise to positive trends in external respiration, clinical and biochemical blood indices, immunity status which appeared more pronounced in BA patients without the endocrine disorder.
