RESUMO

The rumen houses a diverse community that plays a major role in the digestion process in ruminants. Anaerobic gut fungi (AGF) are key contributors to plant digestion in the rumen. Here, we present a global amplicon-based survey of the rumen AGF mycobiome by examining 206 samples from 15 animal species, 15 countries, and 6 continents. The rumen AGF mycobiome was highly diverse, with 81 out of 88 currently recognized AGF genera or candidate genera identified. However, only six genera (Neocallimastix, Orpinomyces, Caecomyces, Cyllamyces, NY9, and Piromyces) were present at >4% relative abundance. AGF diversity was higher in members of the families Antilocapridae and Cervidae compared to Bovidae. Community structure analysis identified a pattern of phylosymbiosis, where host family (10% of total variance) and species (13.5%) partially explained the rumen mycobiome composition. As well, diet composition (9%-19%), domestication (11.14%), and biogeography (14.1%) also partially explained AGF community structure; although sampling limitation, geographic range restrictions, and direct association between different factors hindered accurate elucidation of the relative contribution of each factor. Pairwise comparison of rumen and fecal samples obtained from the same subject (n = 13) demonstrated greater diversity and inter-sample variability in rumen versus fecal samples. The genera Neocallimastix and Orpinomyces were present in higher abundance in rumen samples, while Cyllamyces and Caecomyces were enriched in fecal samples. Comparative analysis of global rumen and feces data sets revealed a similar pattern. Our results provide a global view of AGF community in the rumen and identify patterns of AGF variability between rumen and feces in herbivores Gastrointestinal (GI) tract.IMPORTANCERuminants are highly successful and economically important mammalian suborder. Ruminants are herbivores that digest plant material with the aid of microorganisms residing in their GI tract. In ruminants, the rumen compartment represents the most important location where microbially mediated plant digestion occurs, and is known to house a bewildering array of microbial diversity. An important component of the rumen microbiome is the anaerobic gut fungi (AGF), members of the phylum Neocallimastigomycota. So far, studies examining AGF diversity have mostly employed fecal samples, and little is currently known regarding the identity of AGF residing in the rumen compartment, factors that impact the observed patterns of diversity and community structure of AGF in the rumen, and how AGF communities in the rumen compare to AGF communities in feces. Here, we examined the rumen AGF diversity using an amplicon-based survey targeting a wide range of wild and domesticated ruminants (n = 206, 15 different animal species) obtained from 15 different countries. Our results demonstrate that while highly diverse, no new AGF genera were identified in the rumen mycobiome samples examined. Our analysis also indicate that animal host phylogeny, diet, biogeography, and domestication status could play a role in shaping AGF community structure. Finally, we demonstrate that a greater level of diversity and higher inter-sample variability was observed in rumen compared to fecal samples, with two genera (Neocallimastix and Orpinomyces) present in higher abundance in rumen samples, and two others (Cyllamyces and Caecomyces) enriched in fecal samples. Our results provide a global view of the identity, diversity, and community structure of AGF in ruminants, elucidate factors impacting diversity and community structure of the rumen mycobiome, and identify patterns of AGF community variability between the rumen and feces in the herbivorous GI tract.

Viruses control the host cell by exploiting its molecular machinery to facilitate viral replication and propagation. Understanding different viral mechanisms and biochemical pathways is crucial for finding promising therapeutic solutions to viral infections. The mitochondrion is a vital organelle targeted by various types of viruses. More specifically, viruses interact with the voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC), a porin protein found in the outer mitochondrial membrane. VDAC controls metabolite flux, regulates reactive oxygen species production, and promotes mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis by releasing pro-apoptotic proteins. Hence, a common pathogenic strategy used by many viruses seems to exploit natural pathways that VDAC regulates. This review aims to address the inhibition and enhancement roles of VDAC in viral pathogenesis and outlines multiple links and interactions between VDAC and viral proteins as potential antiviral targets.

OBJECTIVES: Children with cerebral palsy have weak muscles, which may impair postural adjustments. These postural adjustments are required for gait and dynamic balance during the daily living activities. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between Cobb's angle and Formetric 4D surface topography system in evaluating spinal and pelvic deformity in children with cerebral palsy. METHODS: One hundred children with spastic diplegia (6 to 8 years old) diagnosed as cerebral palsy participated in this study and selected from the Outpatient Clinic of Faculty of Physical Therapy. Digital x- ray and formetric analysis were used to measure spinal deformities and pelvic deviation in children with cerebral palsy. RESULTS: There were positive correlations between Cobb's angle and formetric parameters, including trunk imbalance, lateral deviation, and pelvic tilt. Also, Formetric parameters were significant predictors of Cobb's angle, including trunk imbalance (for a one-degree increase, Cobb's angle increases by 0.227, lateral deviation (for a one-degree increase, Cobb's angle increases by 0.665), and pelvic tilt (for a one-degree increase, Cobb's angle increases by 0.252). CONCLUSION: Formetric 4D surface topography system was effective in evaluating spinal and pelvic deformity in children with cerebral palsy when compared with Digital x-ray.

OBJECTIVES: Progressive proximal muscle weakening in children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) impairs postural adjustments by impairing motor function and preventing ambulation. During daily activities, for gait and dynamic balance, certain postural modifications are required. The objective was to compare the impact of trunk-oriented exercises versus whole-body vibration on abdominal muscle thickness and balance in children with DMD. METHODS: Participants in this study were 30 boys with DMD, aged 6 to 10 years old. Children were divided into two groups (A and B) randomly. Children in group (A) underwent a prescribed regimen of physical therapy along with trunk-oriented exercises, whereas group (B) received the same regimen as group (A) together with whole-body vibration three times per week for three consecutive months. Balance and the thickness of the abdominal muscles were measured using the Biodex balance system and ultrasonography, respectively, before and after therapy. RESULTS: When compared to the pre-treatment results in both groups, the post-treatment results showed a significant difference in all measured variables (p<0.05). Post-treatment values showed that all of the measured variables significantly differed in favor of group A. CONCLUSIONS: Trunk-oriented exercises can improve abdominal thickness and balance more effectively than whole-body vibration in children with DMD. CLINICALTRIALS: gov ID: NCT05688072.

BACKGROUND: Venous ulcers are a late and severe form of chronic venous insufficiency and account for 70% of all etiologies that cause leg ulcers in the lower limb, and they account for 20% of the 2.5 million cases complaining of chronic venous disease. Our study aims to investigate the effect of venous stenting of the deep veins on the healing of the venous ulcer. METHODS: This is a single-center, retrospective study conducted on prospectively recorded medical records of 78 patients with chronic deep venous diseases-C6 (either nonocclusive iliac venous lesion or post-thrombotic syndrome). Our lesion involved May-Thurner lesions, occlusions, insufficiencies, or stenoses owing to an affection of the venous outflow segment. All our patients underwent endovascular management, and those who did not respond successfully were transitioned to compression therapy. We then compared the outcomes of both groups in terms of ulcer healing and quality of life. RESULTS: A total of 78 patients (78 limbs), with a mean age of 39.6 ± 8.06 (range: 22-60) years, were treated. Fifty-four patients (67.9%) were males, and 24 (32.1%) were female. The etiology was primary nonocclusive iliac venous lesion in 12 limbs (16.2%) and secondary post-thrombotic obstructions in 66 (83.7%). Follow-up of the ulcer with compliance to compression therapy and standard care of the ulcer, sustained ulcer healing (reduction in ulcer area) was achieved in 60% of limbs, and most of the nonocclusive healing occurred within the first 3 months (P < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Our results show that deep venous stenting is associated with high wound healing rates. This rate reaches a statistically significant difference in 3 months, but this difference doesn't reach statistical significance at 6 months, with less recurrence and improved quality of life with a high cumulative patency rate, and compression therapy is the mainstay of the conservative management of venous ulceration.

OBJECTIVES: There is little information on the long-term function of the four Locator attachment of the mandibular implant retained overdenture (OD), particularly with different distributions. PURPOSE: To compare the effect of different four inter-foraminal implant distributions retaining a mandibular OD after 10 years of function on posterior mandibular ridge resorption (PMandRR), anterior maxillary ridge resorption (AMaxRR), and the amount of marginal bone loss (MBL) around all four implants. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-two participants with total edentulism who had worn mandibular OVDs retained by four inter-foraminal implants for 10 years of functional life were selected for this study. They were divided into two groups based on implant distribution: Group I with a quadrilateral distribution (QD) of implants and Group II with a linear distribution (LD) of implants. PMandRR, AMaxRR, and MBL around implants were measured. RESULTS: After 10 years of function, PMandRR was significantly higher in the LD group than in the QD group (p < 0.001*). There was no significant difference in AMaxRR between the QD and LD groups (p = 0.431). The QD group showed a significantly greater amount of MBL around dental implants when compared with the LD group (p = 0.002*). CONCLUSIONS: The LD of implants demonstrates more PMandRR compared with the QD. The QD of implants demonstrates a greater amount of MBL around dental implants compared with the LD. Both implant distributions demonstrate the same effect on the AMaxRR. MBL around implants remained within normal accepted values after 10 years of function.

The current study was conducted to explore the productive performance and health status of lactating buffaloes fed diets supplemented with probiotic and/or fibrolytic enzymes. Forty multiparous lactating Egyptian buffaloes (body weight 451 ± 8.5 kg) were equally assigned to four experimental groups: (1) the first group fed control diet, (2) second experimental group fed control diet plus 4 g of probiotic/kg dry matter (DM) (probiotic), (3) third experimental group fed control diet plus 4 g of fibrolytic enzymes/kg DM (enzymes) and (4) fourth experimental group fed control diet plus 2 g of probiotic + 2 g fibrolytic enzymes/kg DM (Mix), The experiment was extended for 63 days. Nutrients digestibility was estimated, daily milk yield was recorded and milk samples were analyzed for total solids, fat protein, lactose and ash. Blood serum samples were analyzed for glucose, total protein, albumin, urea-N, aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase and cholesterol concentrations. Results showed that adding probiotic and/or fibrolytic enzymes improved nutrients digestibility (p < 0.05). The probiotic, enzymes and mix groups did not affect (p > 0.05) concentrations of serum total protein, albumin (A), globulin (G), albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio and urea-N concentrations. An improvement in daily milk yield (p < 0.0001) and energy-corrected milk (p = 0.0146) were observed with the probiotic and mix groups compared with the control. In conclusion, this study suggests that supplementing lactating buffaloes' diets with probiotic alone or in combination with fibrolytic enzymes would improve their productive performance without adversely impacting their health.

Establishment of microbial communities in neonatal calves is vital for their growth and overall health. While this process has received considerable attention for bacteria, our knowledge on temporal progression of anaerobic gut fungi (AGF) in calves is lacking. Here, we examined AGF communities in faecal samples from six dairy cattle collected at 24 different time points during the pre-weaning (days 1-48), weaning (days 48-60), and post-weaning (days 60-360) phases. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction indicated that AGF colonisation occurs within 24 h after birth, with loads slowly increasing during pre-weaning and weaning, then drastically increasing post-weaning. Culture-independent amplicon surveys identified higher alpha diversity during pre-weaning/weaning, compared to post-weaning. AGF community structure underwent a drastic shift post-weaning, from a community enriched in genera commonly encountered in hindgut fermenters to one enriched in genera commonly encountered in adult ruminants. Comparison of AGF community between calves day 1 post-birth and their mothers suggest a major role for maternal transmission, with additional input from cohabitating subjects. This distinct pattern of AGF progression could best be understood in-light of their narrower niche preferences, metabolic specialisation, and physiological optima compared to bacteria, hence eliciting a unique response to changes in feeding pattern and associated structural GIT development during maturation.

The anaerobic gut fungi (AGF, Neocallimastigomycota) represent a basal zoosporic phylum within the kingdom Fungi. Twenty genera are currently described, all of which were isolated from the digestive tracts of mammalian herbivores. Here, we report on the isolation and characterization of novel AGF taxa from faecal samples of tortoises. Twenty-nine fungal isolates were obtained from seven different tortoise species. Phylogenetic analysis using the D1/D2 region of the LSU rRNA gene, ribosomal internal transcribed spacer 1, and RNA polymerase II large subunit grouped all isolates into two distinct, deep-branching clades (clades T and B), with a high level of sequence divergence to their closest cultured relative (Khoyollomyces ramosus). Average amino acid identity values calculated using predicted peptides from the isolates' transcriptomes ranged between 60.80-66.21  % (clade T), and 61.24-64.83  % (clade B) when compared to all other AGF taxa; values that are significantly below recently recommended thresholds for genus (85%) and family (75%) delineation in the Neocallimastigomycota. Both clades displayed a broader temperature growth range (20-45 °C, optimal 30 °C for clade T, and 30-42 °C, optimal 39 °C for clade B) compared to all other AGF taxa. Microscopic analysis demonstrated that strains from both clades produced filamentous hyphae, polycentric rhizoidal growth patterns, and monoflagellated zoospores. Isolates in clade T were characterized by the production of unbranched, predominantly narrow hyphae, and small zoospores, while isolates in clade B were characterized by the production of multiple sporangiophores and sporangia originating from a single central swelling resulting in large multi-sporangiated structures. Based on the unique phylogenetic positions, AAI values, and phenotypic characteristics, we propose to accommodate these isolates into two novel genera (Testudinimyces and Astrotestudinimyces), and species (T. gracilis and A. divisus) within the order Neocallimastigales. The type species are strains T130AT (T. gracilis) and B1.1T (A. divisus).

The anaerobic gut fungi (AGF) represent a coherent phylogenetic clade within the Mycota. Twenty genera have been described so far. Currently, the phylogenetic and evolutionary relationships between AGF genera remain poorly understood. Here, we utilized 52 transcriptomic datasets from 14 genera to resolve AGF inter-genus relationships using phylogenomics, and to provide a quantitative estimate (amino acid identity, AAI) for intermediate rank assignments. We identify four distinct supra-genus clades, encompassing all genera producing polyflagellated zoospores, bulbous rhizoids, the broadly circumscribed genus Piromyces, and the Anaeromyces and affiliated genera. We also identify the genus Khoyollomyces as the earliest evolving AGF genus. Concordance between phylogenomic outputs and RPB1 and D1/D2 LSU, but not RPB2, MCM7, EF1α or ITS1, phylogenies was observed. We combine phylogenomic analysis and AAI outputs with informative phenotypic traits to propose accommodating 14/20 AGF genera into four families: Caecomycetaceae fam. nov. (encompassing the genera Caecomyces and Cyllamyces), Piromycetaceae fam. nov. (encompassing the genus Piromyces), emend the description of the family Neocallimastigaceae to encompass the genera Neocallimastix, Orpinomyces, Pecoramyces, Feramyces, Ghazallomyces, Aestipascuomyces and Paucimyces, as well as the family Anaeromycetaceae to include the genera Oontomyces, Liebetanzomyces and Capellomyces in addition to Anaeromyces. We refrain from proposing families for the deeply branching genus Khoyollomyces and for genera with uncertain position (Buwchfawromyces, Joblinomyces, Tahromyces, Agriosomyces and Aklioshbomyces) pending availability of additional isolates and sequence data; and these genera are designated as 'genera incertae sedis' in the order Neocallimastigales. Our results establish an evolutionary-grounded Linnaean taxonomic framework for the AGF, provide quantitative estimates for rank assignments, and demonstrate the utility of RPB1 as an additional informative marker in Neocallimastigomycota taxonomy.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: In children, medulloblastoma (MB) is the most prevalent posterior fossa tumor. The first line of treatment is maximal safe resection. Therefore, symptoms of ataxia are commonly seen. Training the brain on balance and cognitive tasks makes balance more automatic than without cognitive tasks. The goal was to assess the effectiveness of dual-task practice on balance after MB excision in children with ataxia. METHODS: Thirty children with ataxia after MB resection at Children Cancer Hospital Egypt were randomized into two equal groups. Exercises for mobility, balance, and gait training were given to both groups. The research group underwent a specific dual-task program (balance and cognitive). The program ran 3 days per week for 8 weeks. Children were evaluated before and after the treatment regimen using the Scale of Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA), the HUMAC Balance System, Pediatric Balance Scale, and Functional Independent Measurement. All children's legal guardians signed an ethical agreement. RESULTS: A notable improvement in balance was found in the dual group in Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS) (p = .028) and stability test (p = .0001) in favor of the study group. No discernible difference was observed in the Functional Independent Measurement score among the two groups (p = .158), although there was a statistically significant increase in both groups after treatment. CONCLUSION: Dual-task program is more effective than traditional physical therapy alone in improving balance in children with ataxia after MB resection.

Periodontal disease (PD) is a chronic destructive inflammatory disease of the tooth-supporting structures that leads to tooth loss at its advanced stages. Although the disease is initiated by a complex organization of oral microorganisms in the form of a plaque biofilm, it is the uncontrolled immune response to periodontal pathogens that fuels periodontal tissue destruction. IL-17A has been identified as a key cytokine in the pathogenesis of PD. Despite its well documented role in host defense against invading pathogens at oral barrier sites, IL-17A-mediated signaling can also lead to a detrimental inflammatory response, causing periodontal bone destruction. In this study, we developed a local sustained delivery system that restrains IL-17A hyperactivity in periodontal tissues by incorporating neutralizing anti-IL-17A Abs in poly(lactic-coglycolic) acid microparticles (MP). This formulation allowed for controlled release of anti-IL-17A in the periodontium of mice with ligature-induced PD. Local delivery of anti-IL-17A MP after murine PD induction inhibited alveolar bone loss and osteoclastic activity. The anti-IL-17A MP formulation also decreased expression of IL-6, an IL-17A target gene known to induce bone resorption in periodontal tissues. This study demonstrates proof of concept that local and sustained release of IL-17A Abs constitutes a promising therapeutic strategy for PD and may be applicable to other osteolytic bone diseases mediated by IL-17A-driven inflammation.

Necroptosis, a type of programmed cell death that resembles necrosis, is now known to depend on a different molecular mechanism from apoptosis, according to several recent studies. Many efforts have reported the possible influence of necroptosis in human disorders and concluded the crucial role in the pathophysiology of various diseases, including liver diseases, renal injuries, cancers, and others. Fibrosis is the most common end-stage pathological cascade of several chronic inflammatory disorders. In this review, we explain the impact of necroptosis and fibrosis, for which necroptosis has been demonstrated to be a contributing factor. We also go over the inhibitors of necroptosis and how they have been applied to fibrosis models. This review helps to clarify the role of necroptosis in fibrosis and will encourage clinical efforts to target this pathway of programmed cell death.

BACKGROUND: Although thoracoscopic sympathectomy is made via small incisions, it is associated with severe postoperative pain. Both Rhomboid intercostal block (RIB) and serratus anterior plane block (SABP) are recent techniques used for pain control after such procedures. Herein, we compared RIB and SAPB regarding pain control in patients undergoing thoracoscopic sympathectomy for palmar hyperhidrosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Three groups were enrolled in this prospective randomized study (71 patients in each group); Group S received SAPB, Group R received RIB and Group C as controls. The block procedures were performed after general anesthesia and prior to the skin incision. RESULTS: The three groups showed comparable demographics and operative time (P ˃ 0.05). Pain scores showed a significant decline with the two block procedures compared to controls during the first day following surgery (both P ˂ 0.05), but Group R had better scores compared to Group S. Both block techniques were associated with a significant prolongation of the time to first rescue analgesic and less fentanyl consumption compared to controls (both P ˂ 0.05). However, both parameters were improved with RIB rather than SAPB (both P ˂ 0.05). Both blocks led to a significant improvement in patient satisfaction than in the control group (both P ˂ 0.05), but it was comparable between the two approaches (P ˃ 0.05). CONCLUSION: Both RIB and SAPB are safe and effective in pain reduction after thoracoscopic sympathectomy procedures in patients with hyperhidrosis. Moreover, RIB is superior to SAPB as it is associated with better analgesic outcomes. The objective of the current study was to investigate the influence of synergism of the dry powder of Alpinia galanga rhizomes (AGR) and/or zinc sulfate in the diet on semen quality and reproductive traits of California rabbit bucks. The study was conducted in two stages. First stage: appreciation of semen characteristics, 36 California rabbit bucks (aged 5 months) with average body weights of 2980 g were divided randomly into six treatments (six individuals each). The treatment groups were: first group, control fed basal diet (C); second group, fed basal diet plus 1 g AGR/kg dry matter (DM) (AGR1); third group, fed basal diet plus 2 g AGR/kg DM (AGR2); fourth group, fed basal diet plus 200 mg Zn/litre drinking water (Zn); fifth group, fed basal diet plus 1 g AGR/kg DM and 200 mg Zn/litre drinking water (AGR1 + Zn); sixth group, fed basal diet plus 2 g AGR/kg DM and 200 mg Zn/litre drinking water (AGR2 + Zn). Second stage: the previous bucks were used to determine the efficiency of semen on reproductive fertility traits, 48 mature does (aged 6 months, nulliparous) with an average body weight of 3050 ± 20.7 g were divided randomly into six treatments and inseminated with previous groups of treated bucks. The results of the first stage, recorded high activity on gonadotropins hormones: follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), free testosterone (FT), progesterone (P4) and oestrogen (E217ß) concentrations for AGR1 + Zn and AGR2 + Zn compared with the control group. Groups AGR1, AGR2, AGR1 + Zn and AGR2 + Zn had significantly lowered concentrations of triglycerides, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and malondialdehyde (MDA), whereas high-density lipoprotein and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) were increased significantly compared with the control group. The group supplemented with AGR with or without Zn had significantly improved ejaculate volume, advanced motility, sperm concentration, and cell integrity. Fertility rate and litter size were improved in all groups compared with the control. It was concluded that supplementing diets with Alpinia galanga and Zn significantly increased sperm percentage, motility and reproductive hormones (testosterone, FSH, LH, E217ß, P4). This suggested that this plant when used may be favourable for improved sperm quality and fertility parameters.

When used as an alternative source of drugs to treat inflammation-associated diseases, phytochemicals with anti-inflammatory properties provide beneficial impacts. Galangin is one of the most naturally occurring flavonoids. Galangin has many biological activities, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiproliferative, antimicrobial, anti-obesity, antidiabetic, and anti-genotoxic activities. We observed that galangin was well tolerated and positively impacted disease underlying inflammation for the renal, hepatic, central nervous system, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal system, skin, and respiratory disorders, as well as ulcerative colitis, acute pancreatitis, retinopathy, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Galangin anti-inflammatory effects are mediated mainly by suppressing p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases, nuclear factor-kappa B, and nod-like receptor protein 3 signals. These effects are confirmed and supported by molecular docking. Clinical translational research is required to accelerate the bench-to-bedside transfer and determine whether galangin can be utilised as a safe, natural source of pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory medication for humans.

Muscle weakness acquired in the intensive care unit (ICU) adversely affects outcomes of ICU patients. This article reports the short-term respiratory effects of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) in critically ill patients. Patients were randomly assigned to an intervention group (NMES + conventional physiotherapy) and a control group (sham NMES + conventional physiotherapy). The application of NMES in the intervention group resulted in a significant decrease in the duration of mechanical ventilation and reduced the number of weaning trial failures. Other positive outcomes included reductions in the length of ICU stays and decreased mortality when compared with the control group.

This study aims to develop and validate a checklist of discharge readiness criteria for COVID-19 patients from the intensive care unit (ICU). We conducted a Delphi design study. The degree of agreement among 7 experts had been evaluated using the content validity index (CVI) through a 4-point Likert scale. The instrument was validated with 17 items. All the experts rated all items as very relevant which scored the item-CVI 1, which validates all checklist items. Using the mean of all items, the scale-CVI was calculated, and it was 1. This meant validation of the checklist as a whole. With regard to the overall checklist evaluation, the mean expert proportion of the instrument was 1, and the S-CVI/UA was 1. This discharge criteria checklist improves transition of care for COVID-19 patients and can help nurses, doctors, and academics to discharge COVID-19 patients from the ICU safely.

We aimed to develop and validate a model for the criteria for admission of COVID-19 patients to the intensive care unit (ICU). A Delphi design study was conducted. The content validity index (CVI) was used to determine the degree of agreement among the experts to validate the content of the admission criteria tool. Eleven experts determined the validity. The evaluation was conducted using a 4-point rating scale. The accepted CVI value was 0.50 and more. The model was validated with 31 items in the 5 dimensions, with the item-CVI of 1, a face validity index of 1, and a scale-level content validity index (S-CVI) value of 1. We have developed and validated a red flag prediction model for ICU admission of COVID-19 patients. The accurate implementation of this model could improve the outcomes of those patients and possibly decrease mortality.

In this study, three oil-in-water nanoemulsions were tested in two stages: In the first stage, three levels (on the substrate dry matter (DM)), namely 3%, 6%, and 9%, of three different oils, olive oil (OO), corn oil (CO), and linseed oil (LO), in raw and nanoemulsified (N) forms were used separately in three consecutive rumen batch cultures trials. The second stage, which was based on the first stage's results, consisted of a batch culture trial that compared the raw and nanoemulsified (N) forms of all three oils together, provided at 3% of the DM. In the first stage, NOO, NCO, and NLO preserved higher unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) and less saturated fatty acid (SFA) compared to OO, CO, and LO, respectively; noticeably, NCO had UFA:SFA = 1.01, 1.16, and 1.34 compared to CO, which had UFA:SFA = 0.66, 0.69, and 0.72 when supplemented at 3%, 6%, 9% of DM, respectively. In the second stage, UFA:SFA = 1.04, 1.12, and 1.07 for NOO, NCO, NLO, as compared to UFA:SFA = 0.69, 0.68, and 0.72 for OO, CO, and LO supplemented at 3% of DM. In conclusion, oil-in-water nanoemulsions showed an ability to decrease the transformation of UFA to SFA in the biohydrogenation environment without affecting the rumen microorganisms.
