RESUMO

KEY MESSAGE: The orthologues of Arabidopsis involved in seed glucosinolates metabolism within QTL confidence intervals were identified, and functional markers were developed to facilitate breeding for ultra-low glucosinolates in canola. Further reducing the content of seed glucosinolates will have a positive impact on the seed quality of canola (Brassica napus). In this study 43 quantitative trait loci (QTL) for seed glucosinolate (GSL) content in a low-GSL genetic background were mapped over seven environments in Germany and China in a doubled haploid population from a cross between two low-GSL oilseed rape parents with transgressive segregation. By anchoring these QTL to the reference genomes of B. rapa and B. oleracea, we identified 23 orthologues of Arabidopsis involved in GSL metabolism within the QTL confidence intervals. Sequence polymorphisms between the corresponding coding regions of the parental lines were used to develop cleaved amplified polymorphic site markers for two QTL-linked genes, ISOPROPYLMALATE DEHYDROGENASE1 and ADENOSINE 5'-PHOSPHOSULFATE REDUCTASE 3. The genic cleavage markers were mapped in the DH population into the corresponding intervals of QTL explaining 3.36-6.88 and 4.55-8.67 % of the phenotypic variation for seed GSL, respectively. The markers will facilitate breeding for ultra-low seed GSL content in canola.

RESUMO

Knowledge transfer plays a prominent role in fostering innovation among multinational corporations (MNCs), however, the exploration of reverse knowledge transfer in today's digital era remains insufficient. Therefore, we explore the impact of reverse knowledge transfer on ambidextrous innovation and the process mechanism against the backdrop of digital technology. A system dynamics model of reverse knowledge transfer is constructed from three aspects: knowledge acquisition, knowledge absorption and knowledge application. Our simulation results indicate that the dual embeddedness of multinational R&D centers promotes knowledge acquisition and absorption, enhances the knowledge base of parent companies, and facilitates ambidextrous innovation. In particular, the application of digital technology further promotes the process through knowledge absorption, with the long-term impact more pronounced. This study not only enriches the literature on reverse knowledge transfer but also expands the application of digital technology in the field of MNCs' innovation.

RESUMO

With the increasing concern regarding climate change, academics and practitioners are devoting attention to corporate environmental sustainability development. However, corporate environmental responsibility as an outcome of corporate governance (CG) practice is also constrained by national culture as an institutional factor, and research on the relationship between CG and environmental sustainability performance (ESP) with consideration for national culture remains scarce. Therefore, this study investigates the ESP data of Forbes' listed multinational corporations (MNCs) through content analysis and applies STATA software with stepwise regression models to empirically test the relationship between CG and MNCs' ESP and the moderating effects of national culture on this relationship. The results show that board independence and board size positively affect MNCs' ESP, and the relationship between board independence and MNCs' ESP is negatively moderated by masculinity and uncertainty avoidance. Our results emphasize the importance of CG in environmental decision-making by board management supervision enhancement and explain how national culture affects ESP because of its influence on CG. Our study explains the agency effect of board composition on MNCs' environmental sustainability development and the influence of national culture, which establishes a link between CG, ESP, and national culture. Moreover, policymakers and MNCs' suggestions for enhancing ESP through CG measures, while considering national culture, are also provided.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignant epithelial tumor originating from adrenocortical cells that carries a very poor prognosis. Metastatic or inoperable diseases are often considered incurable, and treatment remains a challenge. Especially for advanced cases such as ACC complicated with renal venous cancer thrombus, there are few cumulative cases in the literature. CASE SUMMARY: The patient in this case was a 39-year-old middle-aged male who was admitted to the hospital for more than half a month due to dizziness and chest tightness. Computed tomography (CT) findings after admission revealed a left retroperitoneal malignant space-occupying lesion, but the origin of the formation of the left renal vein cancer thrombus remained to be determined. It was speculated that it originated from the left adrenal gland, perhaps a retroperitoneal source, and left adrenal mass + left nephrectomy + left renal vein tumor thrombus removal + angioplasty were performed under general anesthesia. Postoperative pathology results indicated a diagnosis of ACC. Postoperative steroid therapy was administered. At 3 mo after surgery, abdominal CT reexamination revealed multiple enlarged retroperitoneal lymph nodes and multiple low-density shadows in the liver, and palliative radiotherapy and mitotane were administered, considering the possibility of metastasis. The patient is currently being followed up. CONCLUSION: ACC is a highly malignant tumor. Even if the tumor is removed surgically, there is still the possibility of recurrence. Postoperative mitotane and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy have certain benefits for patients, but they cannot fully offset the poor prognosis of this disease.
