RESUMO

An observation of cerebral glioblastoma transformed from dedifferentiated astrocytoma with metastasis into cervical and lumbar lymph nodes is presented. Growth of the tumour into the area of scars in dura mater formed after repeated operations for the tumour removal contributed to metastasizing.

RESUMO

Two cases of anaerobic clostridial infection in operative wounds of the anterior abdominal wall in women of 65 and 86 are presented. The infection developed by the second or third day following surgical intervention for small intestine ileus. Death occurred with septic shock manifestations 10-13 hours after the onset of the first clinical symptoms of infectious complications which were contributed to by late hospitalization of the patients, inadequate antibacterial treatment as well as age-dependent decrease of immunologic responsiveness. An increasing incidence of anaerobic operative wounds infection is noted.

RESUMO

Malignant tumours both of the pancreatoduodenal zone and of other organs situated close to or remote from it occupy a certain place among various etiopathogenetic factors of acute pancreatitis. Complication of the neoplastic process of these organs by acute carcinogenic pancreatitis (ACP) has an effect on the clinical picture of the disease as well as on the therapeutic tactics and the outcomes of the treatment. According to the authors' data (30 patients), ACP occurs in primary carcinoma of the pancreas and in its secondary involvement (metastases and growth of tumours of other organs into the pancreatic tissue). The article discusses the causative factors and clinical forms of ACP, the specific features of their diagnosis and therapeutic tactics. Purposeful nonoperative and operative treatment of ACP makes it possible to reduce the mortality in malignant diseases and prolong the patients' survival.

RESUMO

Typical clinical features of nasal and paranasal sinus chondromas are discussed having in view 12 history cases. The authors give support to the concept that benign chondroma may transform to malignant neoplasm. Tumor relapses may occur if surgical intervention fails due to morphological abnormalities of the tumor. The tumor consists of lobules that may grow beyond the primary connective tissue capsule penetrating complex structures of the skull. Patients with nasal and paranasal chondromas need early and radical operation and a close follow-up with the purpose of detecting minor signs of recurrences and performing, if necessary, repeated operations until the tumor becomes incurable.
