RESUMO

These guidelines about supervision, roles, and responsibilities are to assist in the appropriate utilization of occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and occupational therapy aides and in the appropriate and effective provision of occupational therapy services. It is expected that occupational therapy services are delivered in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations, relevant workplace policies, the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics (AOTA, 2005), and continuing competency and professional development guidelines.

RESUMO

During the course of routine neuroradiologic imaging evaluation, various abnormalities are occasionally identified that may be considered "incidental findings." The significance of these is not always clear, and additional evaluation may be necessary. Part 2 presents an additional series of magnetic resonance (MR) images to illustrate several "incidental findings," describe their significance, and discuss where additional evaluation or follow-up may be required.

RESUMO

Advances in imaging have had a significant impact not only on the diagnosis of but also on the management of patients with brain injury. Various modalities are available to image the brain; however, it is not always clear which imaging modality (CT, MRI, SPECT, PET, etc.) is optimal for a specific aspect of traumatized brain. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the over 20,000 imaging studies done in brain injury and to compare the results with the experience in the literature. A detailed comparison has been done relative to CT, MRI, SPECT and PET in traumatic brain injury.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT Changing health care delivery systems increasingly demand community-focused care; however, little research has been done exploring the experiences of the limited numbers of occupational therapists in community practice. Therefore, the purpose of this exploratory descriptive study was to better understand the challenges and rewards of community-based occupational therapy. Ten occupational therapists in varied practice settings were interviewed and the data were analyzed qualitatively. Findings suggest a need to understand the experience of community-based occupational therapists and to increase educational and professional support for this important practice area.
