RESUMO

The occurrence mechanism of intracerebral hemorrhage remains unclear. Several recent studies have highlighted the close relationship between environmental senses and intracerebral hemorrhage, but the mechanisms of causal mediation are inconclusive. We aimed to investigate the causal relationships and potential mechanisms between environmental senses and intracerebral hemorrhage. Multiple Mendelian randomization methods were used to identify a causal relationship between environmental senses and intracerebral hemorrhage. Gut microbiota and brain imaging phenotypes were used to find possible mediators. Enrichment and molecular interaction analyses were used to identify potential mediators and molecular targets. No causal relationship between temperature and visual perception with intracerebral hemorrhage was found, whereas long-term noise was identified as a risk factor for intracerebral hemorrhage (OR 2.95, 95% CI: 1.25 to 6.93, PIVW = 0.01). The gut microbiota belonging to the class Negativicutes and the order Selenomonadales and the brain image-derived phenotypes ICA100 node 54, edge 803, edge 1149, and edge 1323 played mediating roles. "Regulation of signaling and function in synaptic organization" is the primary biological pathway of noise-induced intracerebral hemorrhage, and ARHGAP22 may be the critical gene. This study emphasized the importance of environmental noise in the prevention, disease management, and underlying biological mechanisms of intracerebral hemorrhage.

RESUMO

We have successfully achieved the synthesis of heterojunction consisting of WSe2 and BN, by using a liquid phase exfoliation method, and characterization of the prepared materials under the microstructure. The WSe2/BN heterojunction was used as a saturable absorber in the Tm:YAP laser for passively Q-switched operation, and a pulsed laser with an output wavelength around 2 µm range was successfully obtained. After comparing the effects of resonators composed of different cavity mirrors, it is concluded that when the curvature radius of the input mirror is 250 mm and the transmittance of the output coupler is 2.5%, the best output performance was obtained. The maximum average output power of 834 mW was achieved, with a pulsed repetition frequency of 43.51 kHz and a minimum pulse duration of 1.28 µs, corresponding to a peak power of 14.97 W and a maximum single pulse energy of 19.17 µJ.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Physiological processes rely on phosphate, which is an essential component of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Hypophosphatasia can affect nearly every organ system in the body. It is crucial to monitor newborns with risk factors for hypophosphatemia and provide them with the proper supplements. We aimed to evaluate the risk factors and develop a nomogram for early hypophosphatemia in term infants. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study involving 416 term infants measured serum phosphorus within three days of birth. The study included 82 term infants with hypophosphatemia (HP group) and 334 term infants without hypophosphatemia (NHP group). We collected data on the characteristics of mothers, newborn babies, and childbirth. Furthermore, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify independent risk factors for hypophosphatemia in term infants, and a nomogram was developed and validated based on the final independent risk factors. RESULTS: According to our analysis, the multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that male, maternal diabetes, cesarean delivery, lower serum magnesium, and lower birth weight were independent risk factors for early hypophosphatemia in term infants. In addition, the C-index of the developed nomogram was 0.732 (95% CI = 0.668-0.796). Moreover, the calibration curve indicated good consistency between the hypophosphatemia diagnosis and the predicted probability, and a decision curve analysis (DCA) confirmed the clinical utility of the nomogram. CONCLUSIONS: The analysis revealed that we successfully developed and validated a nomogram for predicting early hypophosphatemia in term infants.

RESUMO

To investigate the status of social jet lag (SJL) through sociodemographic factors among clinical nurses and examine the correlation with burnout. There has been relatively little research on the possible factors resulting in SJL among nurses in China and its role in burnout. A multicenter cross-sectional study recruited 596 nurses from 7 Chinese hospitals. Online questionnaires were delivered to assess sociodemographics, shift work, SJL, chronotypes, and the burnout of nurses. Nurses had severe levels of SJL. The number of children, forms of employment, specialty area, length of professional service, and chronotypes were the main predictors of SJL. Moreover, SJL affected burnout (emotional exhaustion and deindividuation), and reducing the nurses' SJL could relieve their burnout. Additional evidence-based interventions indicate that reducing the SJL is essential as the nurses are suffering severe job burnout.

RESUMO

The evolution of organic aerosol (OA) and brown carbon (BrC) in wildfire plumes, including the relative contributions of primary versus secondary sources, has been uncertain in part because of limited knowledge of the precursor emissions and the chemical environment of smoke plumes. We made airborne measurements of a suite of reactive trace gases, particle composition, and optical properties in fresh western US wildfire smoke in July through August 2018. We use these observations to quantify primary versus secondary sources of biomass-burning OA (BBPOA versus BBSOA) and BrC in wildfire plumes. When a daytime wildfire plume dilutes by a factor of 5 to 10, we estimate that up to one-third of the primary OA has evaporated and subsequently reacted to form BBSOA with near unit yield. The reactions of measured BBSOA precursors contribute only 13 ± 3% of the total BBSOA source, with evaporated BBPOA comprising the rest. We find that oxidation of phenolic compounds contributes the majority of BBSOA from emitted vapors. The corresponding particulate nitrophenolic compounds are estimated to explain 29 ± 15% of average BrC light absorption at 405 nm (BrC Abs405) measured in the first few hours of plume evolution, despite accounting for just 4 ± 2% of average OA mass. These measurements provide quantitative constraints on the role of dilution-driven evaporation of OA and subsequent radical-driven oxidation on the fate of biomass-burning OA and BrC in daytime wildfire plumes and point to the need to understand how processing of nighttime emissions differs.

RESUMO

Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) is a common commensal bacterium that is closely associated with the pathogenesis of acne. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), as a favorable regulator of glucose and lipid metabolism and insulin sensitivity, was recently shown to exert anti-inflammatory effects. The role and mechanism of FGF21 in the inflammatory reactions induced by C. acnes, however, have not been determined. The present study shows that FGF21 in the dermis inhibits epidermal C. acnes-induced inflammation in a paracrine manner while it functions on the epidermal layer through a receptor complex consisting of FGF receptor 1 (FGFR1) and ß-Klotho (KLB). The effects of FGF21 in heat-killed C. acnes-induced HaCaT cells and living C. acnes-injected mouse ears were examined. In the presence of C. acnes, FGF21 largely counteracted the activation of Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2), the downstream nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways induced by C. acnes. FGF21 also significantly reduced the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-1ß, IL-6, IL-8, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α. Taken together, these findings indicate that FGF21 suppresses C. acnes-induced inflammation and might be used clinically in the management and treatment of acne.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: In this study, we investigated the time course in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs) levels in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH), and ascertained the relationship between the levels of AOPPs and early brain injury (EBI), hydrocephalus and prognosis of patients with aSAH. METHODS: We measured the CSF AOPPs levels in 50 patients with aSAH at 1-3 d, 4-6 d, 7-9 d, and 10-12 d after hemorrhage. The modified Fisher grades, Hunt-Hess grades, CSF IL-6 levels, peripheral blood count of white blood cells, cerebral edema scores and hydrocephalus were used to assess the severity of brain injury. Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores were used to assess the prognosis. Patients with mRS scores greater than 2 were considered to have a poor outcome. RESULTS: CSF AOPPs levels were significantly higher in patients with aSAH with poor prognosis, compared to patients with good prognosis and peaked in the early stage. Among patients with aSAH, the levels of CSF AOPPs on days 1-3 were significantly correlated with modified Fisher grades, Hunt-Hess grades, CSF IL-6 levels, peripheral blood count of white blood cells, and cerebral edema scores. Also, in patients with hydrocephalus, early CSF AOPPs levels were significantly elevated. Levels of CSF AOPPs in aSAH patients on days 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9 were independently associated with poor prognosis at the 90-day follow-up, and the optimal area under the curve (AUC) values for CSF AOPPs levels were found on days 1-3. CONCLUSIONS: AOPPs may serve as the potential biomarker to assess the severity of EBI and prognosis in patients with aSAH.

RESUMO

Contusive spinal cord injury leads to a variety of disabilities owing to limited neuronal regeneration and functional plasticity. It is well established that an upregulation of glial-derived chondroitin sulphate proteoglycans (CSPGs) within the glial scar and perineuronal net creates a barrier to axonal regrowth and sprouting. Protein tyrosine phosphatase σ (PTPσ), along with its sister phosphatase leukocyte common antigen-related (LAR) and the nogo receptors 1 and 3 (NgR), have recently been identified as receptors for the inhibitory glycosylated side chains of CSPGs. Here we find in rats that PTPσ has a critical role in converting growth cones into a dystrophic state by tightly stabilizing them within CSPG-rich substrates. We generated a membrane-permeable peptide mimetic of the PTPσ wedge domain that binds to PTPσ and relieves CSPG-mediated inhibition. Systemic delivery of this peptide over weeks restored substantial serotonergic innervation to the spinal cord below the level of injury and facilitated functional recovery of both locomotor and urinary systems. Our results add a new layer of understanding to the critical role of PTPσ in mediating the growth-inhibited state of neurons due to CSPGs within the injured adult spinal cord.

RESUMO

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most leading cause of death in males. Our previous studies have demonstrated that δ-catenin plays an important role in prostate cancer progression. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the regulation of δ-catenin has not been fully explored yet. In the present study, we found that δ-catenin could induce phosphorylation of p21Waf and stabilize p21 in the cytoplasm, thus blocking its nuclear accumulation for the first time. We also found that δ-catenin could regulate the interaction between AKT and p21, leading to phosphorylation of p21 at Thr-145 residue. Finally, EGF was found to be a key factor upstream of AKT/δ-catenin/p21 for promoting proliferation and metastasis in prostate cancer. Our findings provide new insights into molecular controls of EGF and the development of potential therapeutics targeting δ-catenin to control prostate cancer progression.

RESUMO

In this paper, we demonstrate a new 2.1-µm Ho:(Sc0.5Y0.5)2SiO5 (Ho:SYSO) laser at room temperature. The absorption and emission spectra of Ho:SYSO crystal were studied at temperature of 300 K. The strongest absorption peak of 5I7 level of Ho ions in SYSO crystal is located at 1943 nm with cross section of 0.79 × 10-20 cm2. The maximum emission cross section of 1.74 × 10-20 cm2 is located at 2032 nm. A 1940.3-nm narrow-linewidth Tm fiber was used to pump the Ho:SYSO crystal. At absorbed pump power of 20.4 W, the continuous wave Ho:SYSO laser yielded 10.3 W maximum output power at 2097.67 nm and 54.7% slope efficiency respect with absorbed pump power. In addition, we have estimated the beam quality factor (M2) of Ho:SYSO laser to be 1.7 near maximum output level.

RESUMO

In this paper, we demonstrate the continuous-wave and acousto-optical Q-switched performance of diode-pumped slab Ho:(Sc0.5Y0.5)2SiO5 (Ho:SYSO) laser at 2.1 µm for the first time. Two 1.91-µm laser diodes were used to pump the Ho:SYSO crystal. With a wing-pumping structure, at absorbed pump power of 44.7 W, the continuous wave slab Ho:SYSO laser produced 20.7 W maximum output power at 2097.9 nm, resulting in a slope efficiency of 53.1% with respect to the absorbed pump power. In the Q-switched regime, the slab Ho:SYSO laser produced up to 3.4 mJ pulse energy with 20 ns minimum pulse width at pulse repetition frequency of 5 kHz, corresponding to a peak power of 170 kW.

RESUMO

We herein describe an oxidative [4 + 1] annulation used to prepare 1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a]pyridines in the presence of I2-DMSO. This protocol enables synthesis of triazolo[4,3-a]pyridine-quinoline linked diheterocycles via a direct oxidative functionalization of sp3 C-H bonds of 2-methyl-azaheteroarenes. The reaction shows a wide substrate scope and good functional group tolerance.

RESUMO

A Nd:GdVO4/GaAs passively Q-switched laser has been demonstrated based on a microchip design. Under high pump power, the high optical intensity inside the laser cavity triggered the two photon absorption of GaAs, and the pulse duration was shortened to sub-nanosecond level. The shortest pulse of 690 ps was obtained, which we believe is the shortest pulse ever generated with a pure GaAs saturable absorber. The maximum average output power, highest repetition rate, largest pulse energy, and highest peak power were 1 W, 190 kHz, 7.5 µJ, and 10.8 kW, respectively. The results indicated that GaAs is a promising passively Q-switched saturable absorber and still has potential to explore.

RESUMO

In this paper we present a high power long-wave infrared ZnGeP2 (ZGP) optical parametric amplifier (OPA) pumped by a 2097-nm Q-switched Ho:YAG laser with pulse repetition frequency of 20 kHz. When the incident Ho pump power was 116.0 W, the maximum average output power of 11.4 W at 8.3 µm was achieved in the ZGP OPA. The optical conversion efficiency from Ho to long-wave infrared was about 9.8%. The ZGP OPA produced 30.4 ns long-wave infrared laser pulse. The beam quality factor (M2) of ZGP OPA was measured to be about 2.9 at the maximum average output power.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Rubella infection in pregnant women can result in serious effects, such as miscarriages, stillbirths, and congenital rubella syndrome (CRS). However, very little is known about the rubella seroprevalence among pregnant women in China. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional and hospital-based study. From June 2016 through March 2017, a total of 324 serum samples from healthy pregnant women were collected in the Shunyi Women and Children's Hospital of Beijing Children's Hospital. Rubella-specific IgG antibody was determined by ELISA (Euroimmun, Lübeck, Germany) kits. International assigned cut-off values of ≥10 IU/ml were used to assess the percentage of pregnant women with protective IgG concentrations. RESULTS: The total rate of protected individuals was 83.3% (95% CI: 78.9%-87.0%). The protective rates of pregnant women in 17-26 years group, 27-36 years group and 37-46 years group were 84.0% (95% CI: 75.3%-90.1%), 81.9% (95% CI: 74.9%-87.4%) and 84.9% (95% CI: 75.8%-90.9%) respectively. No significant difference in protective rates among the three age groups was found (P = 0.83). There were also no statistically significant correlations between protective rates and gravidity (P = 0.84), parity (P = 0.84), birth place (P = 0.16), residence area (P = 0.58), education (P = 0.40) or occupation (P = 0.65). CONCLUSIONS: Despite the generally low vaccination coverage for rubella, most of Chinese pregnant women had potent rubella immunity. However, at least 16.7% of pregnant women were susceptible to rubella, which suggested rubella immunization in Chinese women at or before child-bearing age.

RESUMO

We describe an efficient middle-infrared laser source based on the Tm:YLF-Ho:LuAG-ZnGeP2 system in this paper. A new orthogonally polarized recycling pump scheme with a simple thin-film polarizer and a half-wave plate are used in a Ho:LuAG laser. Under an incident pump power of 63.8 W, we achieve a maximum continuous wave output power of 35.7 W in the Ho:LuAG laser, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 60.4% and an optical-to-optical efficiency of 56.0%. With the Q-switched mode, maximum average output powers of 34.1 W, 34.9 W, and 35.2 W were achieved in the Ho:LuAG laser with pulse repetition frequencies of 10 kHz, 15 kHz, and 20 kHz, respectively. With a Ho pump power of 34.1 W, maximum average output powers of 16.7 W, 15.3 W, and 12.6 W were achieved in a middle-infrared zinc germanium phosphide optical parametric oscillator (ZGP-OPO) under pulse repetition frequencies of 10 kHz, 15 kHz, and 20 kHz, respectively. The evaluated beam quality factor M2 of the ZGP-OPO was 2.2 for the signal and 1.9 for the idler. To the authors' best knowledge, this is the best performance reported for a middle-infrared ZGP-OPO pumped by a Ho:LuAG laser.
