Drought and heat stresses usually occur concomitantly in nature, with increasing frequency and intensity of both stresses expected due to climate change. The synergistic agricultural impacts of these compound climate extremes are much greater than those of the individual stresses. However, the mechanisms by which drought and heat stresses separately and concomitantly affect dynamic photosynthesis have not been thoroughly assessed. To elucidate this, we used tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) seedlings to measure dynamic photosynthesis under individual and compound stresses of drought and heat. Individual drought and heat stresses limited dynamic photosynthesis at the stages of diffusional conductance to CO2 and biochemistry, respectively. However, the primary limiting factor for photosynthesis shifted to mesophyll conductance under the compound stresses. Compared with the control, photosynthetic carbon gain in fluctuating light decreased by 38%, 73%, and 114% under the individual drought, heat, and compound stresses, respectively. Therefore, compound stresses caused a greater reduction in photosynthetic carbon gain in fluctuating light conditions than individual stress. These findings highlight the importance of mitigating the effects of compound climate extremes on crop productivity by targeting mesophyll conductance and improving dynamic photosynthesis.

Due to the high cost, low-performance lasers and detectors in the mid-infrared (MIR) band, the development of MIR-integrated devices is very slow. Here, we demonstrate an effective method to characterize the parameters of MIR devices by using frequency conversion technology. We designed and fabricated rib waveguides and the micro-ring resonators (MRRs) on a silicon-on-sapphire platform. The MIR laser for the test is generated by difference frequency generation, and the transmission spectrum of the MIR-MRRs is detected by sum frequency generation. The experimental results show that the waveguide transmission loss is 4.5 dB/cm and the quality factor of the micro-ring reaches 38000, which is in good agreement with the numerical simulations. This work provides a useful method to characterize MIR integrated devices based on the frequency conversion technique, which can boost the development of MIR integrated optics in the future.

The continuous advancements in wearable electronics have drawn significant attention toward 2D MXenes materials for energy storage owing to their abundant availability, adaptability, and distinctive physicochemical properties. Two unresolved concerns currently revolve around environmental pollution by F-containing etching and finite kinetics caused because of re-stacking of nanosheets. In this study, Al was electrochemically etched from porous Ti2AlC electrodes without the use of fluorine, through a selective electrochemical etching process in dilute hydrochloric acid. Subsequently, Ti2CTxMXene was vertically grown on carbon fiber (CF) substrates. The resulting Ti2CTx@CF electrodes are lightweight, thin, and flexible, exhibiting a surface capacitance of 330 mF cm-2at a constant current density of 1 mA cm-2after 2000 cycles. They display a surface capacitance retention of 96.16% and a high energy density of 45.3µWh cm-2at a power density of 0.497 mW cm-2. These metrics underscore the Ti2CTx@CF electrode's commendable multifunctionality, electrochemical performance, ion transport efficiency, and charge storage capacity. Moreover, a flexible energy storage electrode material with a high area capacity was developed by combining Ti2CTxMXene nanosheets, possessing a large specific surface area, with a flexible carbon fabric substrate.

Yellowtail kingfish (Seriola lalandi) is a pelagic piscivore distributed circumglobally. Owing to its great market value, the growth mechanism of S. lalandi, including muscle development and growth, is a hot research topic. The myoblast determination protein (MyoD) gene has been shown to play an important role in formation of myoblasts and the function of somites in fish. The open reading frame (ORF) sequences of MyoD1 and MyoD2 in S. lalandi encoded 298 and 263 amino acids possessing three common characteristic domains, respectively, containing a myogenic basic domain, a bHLH domain, and a ser-rich region (helix III). S. lalandi MyoDs shared the highest identity with the MyoDs of S. dumerili. MyoDs are highly expressed in white muscle (P < 0.05) in S. lalandi. The expression level of MyoD1 mRNA was higher than that of MyoD2 mRNA during embryonic and early developmental stages, indicating that the two MyoD isoforms may have different roles in muscle formation. Moreover, the mRNA expression of MyoDs in the brain, pituitary, liver and muscle of endocrine growth axis were analyzed in the various sizes and ages stages. The expression levels of MyoDs in the different sizes and ages of S. lalandi showed that expression of both these genes was particularly high in 400-g fish and 2-year-old fish (P < 0.05). Moreover, the increases in the mRNA expression and plasma levels of growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-I) were accompanied by an increase in mRNA expression of MyoDs, indicating the roles of GH and IGF-I in muscle development and growth of S. lalandi. Overall, the expression profiles of genes associated with muscle development are the first step taken towards deciphering fast growth mechanism in this important Seriola fish.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to develop a predictive model for prolonged length of hospital stay (pLOS) in elderly patients undergoing lumbar fusion surgery, utilizing multivariate logistic regression, single classification and regression tree (hereafter, "classification tree") and random forest machine-learning algorithms. METHODS: This study was a retrospective review of a prospective Geriatric Lumbar Disease Database. The primary outcome measure was pLOS, which was defined as the LOS greater than the 75th percentile. All patients were grouped as pLOS group and non-pLOS. Three models (including logistic regression, single-classification tree and random forest algorithms) for predicting pLOS were developed using training dataset and internal validation using testing dataset. Finally, online tool based on our model was developed to assess its validity in the clinical setting (external validation). RESULTS: The development set included 1025 patients (mean [SD] age, 72.8 [5.6] years; 632 [61.7%] female), and the external validation set included 175 patients (73.2 [5.9] years; 97[55.4%] female). Multivariate logistic analyses revealed that older age (odds ratio [OR] 1.06, p < 0.001), higher BMI (OR 1.08, p = 0.002), number of fused segments (OR 1.41, p < 0.001), longer operative time (OR 1.02, p < 0.001), and diabetes (OR 1.05, p = 0.046) were independent risk factors for pLOS in elderly patients undergoing lumbar fusion surgery. The single-classification tree revealed that operative time ≥ 232 min, delayed ambulation, and BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2 as particularly influential predictors for pLOS. A random forest model was developed using the remaining 14 variables. Intraoperative EBL, operative time, delayed ambulation, age, number of fused segments, BMI, and RBC count were the most significant variables in the final model. The predictive ability of our three models was comparable, with no significant differences in AUC (0.73 vs. 0.71 vs. 0.70, respectively). The logistic regression model had a higher net benefit for clinical intervention than the other models. The nomogram was developed, and the C-index of external validation for PLOS was 0.69 (95% CI, 0.65-0.76). CONCLUSION: This investigation produced three predictive models for pLOS in elderly patients undergoing lumbar fusion surgery. The predictive ability of our three models was comparable. Logistic regression model had a higher net benefit for clinical intervention than the other models. Our predictive model could inform physicians about elderly patients with a high risk of pLOS after surgery.

PURPOSE: The relationship between delayed ambulation (DA) and postoperative adverse events (AEs) following transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) in elderly patients remains elusive. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effects of DA on the postoperative AEs including complications, readmission and prolonged length of hospital stay (LOS). METHODS: This was a retrospective analysis of a prospectively established database of elderly patients (aged 65 years and older) who underwent TLIF surgery. The early ambulation (EA) group was defined as patients ambulated within 48 h after surgery, whereas the delayed ambulation (DA) group was patients ambulated at a minimum of 48 h postoperatively. The DA patients were 1:1 propensity-score matched to the EA patients based on age, gender and the number of fused segments. Univariate analysis was used to compare postoperative outcomes between the two groups, and multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify risk factors for adverse events and DA. RESULTS: After excluding 125 patients for various reasons, 1025 patients (≤ 48 h: N = 659 and > 48 h: N = 366) were included in the final analysis. After propensity score matching, there were 326 matched patients in each group. There were no significant differences in the baseline data and the surgery-related variables between the two groups (p > 0.05). The patients in the DA group had a significant higher incidence of postoperative AEs (46.0% vs. 34.0%, p = 0.002) and longer LOS (p = 0.001). Multivariate logistic regression identified that age, operative time, diabetes, and DA were independently associated with postoperative AEs, whereas greater age, higher international normalized ratio, and intraoperative estimated blood loss were identified as independent risk factors for DA. CONCLUSIONS: Delayed ambulation was an independent risk factor for postoperative AEs after TLIF in elderly patients. Older age, increased intraoperative blood loss and worse coagulation function were associated with delayed ambulation.

The mitogenome sequence data have been widely used in inferring the phylogeny of insects. In this study, we determined the complete mitogenome for Macrotermes sp. (Termitidae, Macrotermitinae) using next-generation sequencing. Macrotermes sp. possesses a typical insect mitogenome, displaying an identical gene order and gene content to other existing termite mitogenomes. We present the first prediction of the secondary structure of ribosomal RNA genes in termites. The rRNA secondary structures of Macrotermes sp. exhibit similarities to closely related insects and also feature distinctive characteristics in their helical structures. Together with 321 published mitogenomes of termites as ingroups and 8 cockroach mitogenomes as outgroups, we compiled the most comprehensive mitogenome sequence matrix for Termitoidae to date. Phylogenetic analyses were conducted using datasets employing different data coding strategies and various inference methods. Robust relationships were recovered at the family or subfamily level, demonstrating the utility of comprehensive mitogenome sampling in resolving termite phylogenies. The results supported the monophyly of Termitoidae, and consistent relationships within this group were observed across different analyses. Mastotermitidae was consistently recovered as the sister group to all other termite families. The families Hodotermitidae, Stolotermitidae, and Archotermopsidae formed the second diverging clade, followed by the Kalotermitidae. The Neoisoptera was consistently supported with strong node support, with Stylotermitidae being sister to the remaining families. Rhinotermitidae was found to be non-monophyletic, and Serritermitidae nested within the basal clades of Rhinotermitidae and was sister to Psammotermitinae. Overall, our phylogenetic results are largely consistent with earlier mitogenome studies.

We experimentally investigate the frequency down-conversion through the four-wave mixing (FWM) process in a cold 85Rb atomic ensemble, with a diamond-level configuration. An atomic cloud with a high optical depth (OD) of 190 is prepared to achieve a high efficiency frequency conversion. Here, we convert a signal pulse field (795 nm) attenuated to a single-photon level, into a telecom light at 1529.3 nm within near C-band range and the frequency-conversion efficiency can reach up to 32%. We find that the OD is an essential factor affecting conversion efficiency and the efficiency may exceed 32% with an improvement in the OD. Moreover, we note the signal-to-noise ratio of the detected telecom field is higher than 10 while the mean signal count is larger than 0.2. Our work may be combined with quantum memories based on cold 85Rb ensemble at 795 nm and serve for long-distance quantum networks.

Quantum correlation, as an intrinsic property of quantum mechanics, has been widely employed to test the fundamental physical principles and explore the quantum-enhanced technologies. However, such correlation would be drowned and even destroyed in the conditions of high levels of loss and noise, which drops into the classical realm and renders quantum advantage ineffective. Especially in low light conditions, conventional linear classifiers are unable to extract and distinguish quantum and classical correlations with high accuracy. Here we experimentally demonstrate the classification of quantum correlation using deep learning to meet the challenge in the quantum imaging scheme. We design the convolutional neural network to learn and classify the correlated photons efficiently with only 0.1 signal photons per pixel. We show that decreasing signal intensity further weakens the correlation and makes an accurate linear classification impossible, while the deep learning method has a strong robustness of such task with the accuracy of 99.99%. These results open up a new perspective to optimize the quantum correlation in low light conditions, representing a step towards diverse applications in quantum-enhanced measurement scenarios, such as super-resolution microscope, quantum illumination, etc.

Most orchids have high ornamental value with long-lived flowers. However, the mechanisms by which orchids maintain floral longevity are poorly understood. Here, we hypothesized that floral longevity in Dendrobium is maintained by high resource investment and complementary water and nutrient utilization in different structural units of the perianth. To test this hypothesis, we determined which water- and nutrient-related traits are correlated with flower longevity in 23 Dendrobium species or cultivars, and examined variations of the related traits during flower development of one long-lived cultivar. We found that floral longevity was correlated with dry mass per unit area of perianths and total flower biomass, which indicates that maintaining floral longevity requires increased resource investment. During development of long-lived flowers, labella showed a high capacity for water storage and nutrient reutilization, which could partly remedy high water demand and biomass investment. Sepals and petals, in contrast, had stronger desiccation avoidance and higher metabolic activity with lower biomass investment. These findings indicate that Dendrobium flowers maintain longevity by complementary water and nutrient utilization strategies in the sepals, petals and labella, with labella consuming more water and nutrients to extend flower display, and sepals and petals using a more conservative strategy.

A nonlinear process based on backward quasi-phase matching (BQPM) can be used to realize mirrorless optical parametric oscillation, the generation of paired photons with a separable joint spectral amplitude and narrow wavelength bandwidth, and the preparation of counterpropagating polarization-entangled photons, which shows distinct advantages over some applications based on forward quasi-phase matching. In this work, three types of BQPM in a bulk periodically poled potassium titanyl phosphate crystal with a single period are theoretically analyzed. Experimentally, the harmonic wave generated by second-harmonic generation in type 0 and type I exhibits a narrow bandwidth of 15.5 GHz. Furthermore, photon pairs generated by spontaneous parametric downconversion in all types of BQPM (type 0, type I, and type II) at 7th order are observed and characterized. Their coincidence-to-accidental ratios are all greater than 5 × 103 in the pump power range from 10 mW to 500 mW. This research lays the foundation for further applications of BQPM in nonlinear optics, quantum optics, and quantum information processing.

Inherent spin angular momentum (SAM) and orbital angular momentum (OAM), which manifest as polarization and spatial degrees of freedom (DOFs) of photons, hold a promise of large capability for applications in classical and quantum information processing. To enable these photonic spin and orbital dynamic properties strongly coupled with each other, Poincaré states have been proposed and offer advantages in data multiplexing, information encryption, precision metrology, and quantum memory. However, since the transverse size of Laguerre-Gaussian beams strongly depends on their topological charge numbers | l |, it is difficult to store asymmetric Poincaré states due to the significantly different light-matter interaction for distinct spatial modes. Here, we experimentally realize the storage of perfect Poincaré states with arbitrary OAM quanta using the perfect optical vortex, in which 121 arbitrarily selected perfect Poincaré states have been stored with high fidelity. The reported work has great prospects in optical communication and quantum networks for dramatically increased encoding flexibility of information.

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) conservation plays an important role in shaping and controlling structured light with nonlinear optics. The OAM of a beam originating from three-wave mixing should be the sum or difference of the other two inputs because no light-matter OAM exchange occurs in parametric nonlinear interactions. Here, we report anomalous OAM transfer in parametric upconversion, in which a Hermite-Gauss mode signal interacts with a specially engineered pump capable of astigmatic transformation, resulting in Laguerre-Gaussian mode sum-frequency generation (SFG). The anomaly here refers to the fact that the pump and signal both carry no net OAM, while their SFG does. We reveal experimentally that there is also an OAM inflow to the residual pump, having the same amount of that to the SFG but with the opposite sign, and thus holds system OAM conservation. This unexpected OAM selection rule improves our understanding of OAM transfer among interacting waves and may inspire new ideas for controlling OAM states via nonlinear optics.

Building an efficient quantum memory in high-dimensional Hilbert spaces is one of the fundamental requirements for establishing high-dimensional quantum repeaters, where it offers many advantages over two-dimensional quantum systems, such as a larger information capacity and enhanced noise resilience. To date, it remains a challenge to develop an efficient high-dimensional quantum memory. Here, we experimentally realize a quantum memory that is operational in Hilbert spaces of up to 25 dimensions with a storage efficiency of close to 60% and a fidelity of 84.2±0.6%. The proposed approach exploits the spatial-mode-independent interaction between atoms and photons which are encoded in transverse-size-invariant vortex modes. In particular, our memory features uniform storage efficiency and low crosstalk disturbance for 25 individual spatial modes of photons, thus allowing the storing of qudit states programmed from 25 eigenstates within the high-dimensional Hilbert spaces. These results have great prospects for the implementation of long-distance high-dimensional quantum networks and quantum information processing.

Four undescribed cytochalasins (1-4) were isolated from the endophytic fungus Boeremia exigua. Structurally, boerelasin A (1) represents the first example of a cytochalasin with a rare 5/5 bicyclic carbon core. Boerelasin B (2) possesses an unprecedented 5/6/5/6/8 pentacyclic ring system. Boerelasin C (3), a derivative from the common biosynthetic intermediate to 1, is a macrocyclic ring-opening cytochalasin, and boerelasin D (4) contains an uncommon six-carbon alkyl acid side chain. The structures were elucidated based on spectroscopic methods, electronic circular dichroism, spin-spin coupling constants, and calculated nuclear magnetic resonance with DP4+ analysis. These compounds exhibited significant cytotoxicity against the tumor cells.

Fifteen undescribed Stemona alkaloids, named as stemarines A-O (1-15), along with 25 known alkaloids (16-40), were isolated and identified from the roots of Stemona mairei (H.Lév.)K.Krause (Stemonaceae). Their structures were elucidated through the analysis of the NMR spectra, mass data, and computational chemistry. All the hitherto undescribed compounds possess a pyrrolo[1,2-α]azepine core structure but differ in important structural features, which reflects their nematocidal activities. Alkaloids 3-6 featured a carboxylic side chain and exhibited significant nematocidal activity against the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Transections of fresh roots combined with application of the Dragendorff' reagent on the tissue indicated accumulation of alkaloids mainly in the epidermis and the pith. These results suggest the key pharmacophore of these alkaloids lies in the aliphatic side chain of these compounds and its spatial distribution in the roots indicate protective effects against underground herbivores.

PURPOSE: To identify the relationship between depression measured by Zung depression rating scale (ZDRS) and postoperative outcomes (including the patients reported outcomes [PRO] and clinical outcomes) two years after short-segment fusion surgery for degenerative lumbar spinal disease in older patients (aged 75 years and older). METHODS: We enrolled patients who underwent short-segment fusion surgery for lumbar degenerative disease from May 2018 to June 2020. All patients were assessed for depression using the ZDRS. Patients were included in the depression group and not-depressed group based on their scores. Preoperative baseline data were collected on characteristics, comorbidities, laboratory data, pain levels (visual analogue scale [VAS]), functional status (Oswestry Disability Index [ODI]), and surgery-related variables. The primary outcomes were PRO measures, including VAS, ODI and satisfaction two years after lumbar fusion surgery. Other outcomes included postoperative complications, the length of stay, and reoperation. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify the risk factors for poor satisfaction. RESULTS: A total of 231 patients (201 in not-depressed and 30 in depressed group) were enrolled in this study. There were no significant differences between the two groups for baseline data. Depressed group had higher rates of choices for dissatisfaction (36.7% vs. 14.0%, p = 0.015), higher VAS scores of low back pain (2.8 ± 2.3 vs. 1.6 ± 1.7, p = 0.012), and worse functional status (31.5 ± 22.5 vs 21.8 ± 19.9, p = 0.015) than the not-depressed group. Depressed patients reported significantly higher rates of postoperative complications and readmissions. Multivariate regression analysis revealed that depression (p = 0.001) was independently associated with postoperative dissatisfaction. CONCLUSION: Preoperative depression was a risk factor for postoperative dissatisfaction, worse functional status, readmission, and complications in older patients undergoing lumbar fusion surgery. Preoperative screening using the Zung depression scale helps inform decision-making when considering fusion surgery for patients aged 75 and older.

PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of interlaminar Coflex stabilization (ICS) at various segments in the topping-off procedure on local and global spinal sagittal alignment. METHODS: Eighty-nine consecutive patients with degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis (DLSS) who underwent ICS and transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) were retrospectively reviewed. They were divided into Group A (L4-L5 ICS + L5-S1 TLIF), Group B (L3-L4 ICS + L4-S1 TLIF), and Group C (L2-L3 ICS + L3-S1 TLIF) according to their fusion levels. The measured local sagittal parameters included the implanted segmental angle (ISA), intervertebral disc angle (IDA), intervertebral foreman height (IFH), and disc height. The assessed global sagittal parameters included thoracic kyphosis, lumbar lordosis (LL), the fused segment angle (FSA), the sacral slope, the pelvic tilt, pelvic incidence, and the sagittal vertical axis. The Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and visual analog scales (VAS) were recorded to evaluate the clinical outcomes. RESULTS: Regarding the local alignment parameters, the ISA and IDA decreased immediately after surgery in Groups A and B, followed by an increase at the last follow-up (all, P < 0.05). Conversely, the IFH of Groups A and B first increased after surgery and then decreased to approximately the original value (all, P < 0.05). No significant differences were evident between the local sagittal parameters at different time points in Group C. Regarding the global sagittal profiles, the LL and FSA exhibited a significant postoperative increase (both at P < 0.05) in all the groups. All three groups displayed significant improvements in the ODI, VAS-back pain, and VAS-leg pain. Furthermore, 4.5% (4/89) of the patients exhibited radiographic adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) at the last follow-up. CONCLUSION: ICS during topping-off surgery led to a temporary loss of local lordosis, especially in the lower lumbar segment, while the intervertebral space realigned after middle-term follow-up. The topping-off procedure with ICS is a feasible and promising surgical option of DLSS since it reduces fusion levels and prevents ASD development.

OBJECTIVE: To generate a compensatory classification to evaluate sagittal spinal malalignment with lumbar degeneration. METHODS: We included 162 patients with low back pain who underwent full-length spinal radiography in our hospital from August 2019 to October 2021. Using full-length spine X-rays, we measured pelvic tilt (PT), sacral slope (SS), pelvic incidence (PI), thoracic kyphosis (TK), lumbar lordosis (LL), C7 slope (C7S), thoracolumbar kyphosis (TLK), and C7 sagittal vertical axis (SVA). We also recorded the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and visual analog scale (VAS). Patients were divided into four groups based on the SRS-Schwab classification and four other groups based on the compensatory classification. RESULTS: ODI correlated with age, SS, LL, TK, C7-SVA, SRS-Schwab classification, and compensatory classification. Lumbar VAS score correlated with LL, TK, C7-SVA, SRS-Schwab classification, and compensatory classification. Leg VAS score only correlated with LL. Hidden imbalance and imbalance with compensation had more significant PT and larger TK than balance patients. The symptoms of the four compensatory classification groups gradually worsened. CONCLUSION: The spinal-pelvic sagittal balance in patients with lumbar degeneration based on pelvic and thoracic compensation can reflect spinal balance and symptoms. This parameter might help evaluate spine sagittal alignment in elderly patients with lumbar degeneration.

PURPOSE: The prevalence of degenerative spinal deformity (DSD) and the increased cost of correction surgery impose substantial burdens on the health care and insurance system. The aim of our study was to investigate the effects of the implementation of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol on postoperative outcomes after complex spinal surgery. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of prospectively established database of DSD was performed. The consecutive patients who underwent open correction surgery for degenerative spinal deformity between August 2016 and February 2022 were reviewed. We extracted demographic data, preoperative radiographic parameters, and surgery-related variables. The ERAS patients were 1:1 propensity-score matched to a historical cohort by the same surgical team based on age, gender, BMI, and number of levels fused. We then compared the length of hospital stay (LOS), physiological functional recovery, and the rates of complications and readmissions within 90 days after surgery between the groups. RESULTS: There were 108 patients included, 54 patients in the ERAS cohort, and 54 patients matched control patients in the historical cohort. The historical and ERAS cohorts were not significantly different regarding demographic characteristics, comorbidities, preoperative parameters, operative time, and reoperation rate (P > 0.05). Patients in the ERAS group had significantly shorter postoperative LOS (12.0 days vs. 15.1 days, P = 0.001), average days of drain and urinary catheters placement (3.5 days vs. 4.4 days and 1.9 days vs 4.8 days, respectively), and lower 90-day readmission rate (1.8% vs. 12.9%, P = 0.027). The first day of assisted-walking and bowel movement occurred on average 1.9 days (2.5 days vs. 4.4 days, P = 0.001) and 1.7 days (1.9 days vs. 3.6 days, P = 0.001) earlier respectively in the ERAS group. Moreover, the rate of postoperative urinary retention (3.7% vs. 16.7%, P = 0.026) and surgical site infection (0% vs. 7.4%, P = 0.046) were significantly lower with ERAS protocol applied. CONCLUSIONS: Our study confirmed that the ERAS protocol was safe and essential for patients undergoing thoracolumbar deformity surgery for DSD. The ERAS protocol was associated with a shorter postoperative LOS, a lower rate of 90-day readmission, less rehabilitation discharge, and less postoperative complications.
