RESUMO

Single-atom catalysts (SACs), combining the advantages of multiphase and homogeneous catalysis, have been increasingly investigated in various catalytic applications. Carbon-based SACs have attracted much attention due to their large specific surface area, high porosity, particular electronic structure, and excellent stability. As a cheap and readily available carbon material, biochar has begun to be used as an alternative to carbon nanotubes, graphene, and other such expensive carbon matrices to prepare SACs. However, a review of biochar-based SACs for environmental pollutant removal and energy conversion and storage is lacking. This review focuses on strategies for synthesizing biochar-based SACs, such as pre-treatment of organisms with metal salts, insertion of metal elements into biochar, or pyrolysis of metal-rich biomass, which are more simplistic ways of synthesizing SACs. Meanwhile, this paper attempts to 1) demonstrate their applications in environmental remediation based on advanced oxidation technology and energy conversion and storage based on electrocatalysis; 2) reveal the catalytic oxidation mechanism in different catalytic systems; 3) discuss the stability of biochar-based SACs; and 4) present the future developments and challenges regarding biochar-based SACs.

RESUMO

The activation of persulfates to degrade refractory organic pollutants is a hot issue in advanced oxidation right now. Here, it is reported that single-atom Fe-incorporated carbon nitride (Fe-CN-650) can effectively activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for sulfamethoxazole (SMX) removal. Through some characterization techniques and DFT calculation, it is proved that Fe single atoms in Fe-CN-650 exist mainly in the form of Fe-N3O1 coordination, and Fe-N3O1 exhibited better affinity for PMS than the traditional Fe-N4 structure. The degradation rate constant of SMX in the Fe-CN-650/PMS system reached 0.472 min-1, and 90.80% of SMX can still be effectively degraded within 10 min after five consecutive recovery cycles. The radical quenching experiment and electrochemical analysis confirm that the pollutants are mainly degraded by two non-radical pathways through 1O2 and Fe(IV)═O induced at the Fe-N3O1 sites. In addition, the intermediate products of SMX degradation in the Fe-CN-650/PMS system show toxicity attenuation or non-toxicity. This study offers valuable insights into the design of carbon-based single-atom catalysts and provides a potential remediation technology for the optimum activation of PMS to disintegrate organic pollutants.

RESUMO

Erythrodermic psoriasis (EP) is a rare and life-threatening disease, the pathogenesis of which remains to be largely unknown. Metabolomics analysis can provide global information on disease pathophysiology, candidate biomarkers, and potential intervention strategies. To gain a better understanding of the mechanisms of EP and explore the serum metabolic signature of EP, we conducted an untargeted metabolomics analysis from 20 EP patients and 20 healthy controls. Furthermore, targeted metabolomics for focused metabolites were identified in the serum samples of 30 EP patients and 30 psoriasis vulgaris (PsV) patients. In the untargeted analysis, a total of 2992 molecular features were extracted from each sample, and the peak intensity of each feature was obtained. Principal component analysis (PCA), orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) revealed significant difference between groups. After screening, 98 metabolites were found to be significantly dysregulated in EP, including 67 down-regulated and 31 up-regulated. EP patients had lower levels of L-tryptophan, L-isoleucine, retinol, lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC), and higher levels of betaine and uric acid. KEGG analysis showed differential metabolites were enriched in amino acid metabolism and glycerophospholipid metabolism. The targeted metabolomics showed lower L-tryptophan in EP than PsV with significant difference and L-tryptophan levels were negatively correlated with the PASI scores. The serum metabolic signature of EP was discovered. Amino acid and glycerophospholipid metabolism were dysregulated in EP. The metabolite differences provide clues for pathogenesis of EP and they may provide insights for therapeutic interventions.

RESUMO

Excessive accumulation of nitrate in the environment will affect human health. To combat nitrate pollution, chemical, biological, and physical technologies have been developed recently. The researcher favors electrocatalytic reduction nitrate reaction (NO3 RR) because of the low post-treatment cost and simple treatment conditions. Single-atom catalysts (SACs) offer great activity, exceptional selectivity, and enhanced stability in the field of NO3 RR because of their high atomic usage and distinctive structural characteristics. Recently, efficient transition metal-based SACs (TM-SACs) have emerged as promising candidates for NO3 RR. However, the real active sites of TM-SACs applied to NO3 RR and the key factors controlling catalytic performance in the reaction process remain ambiguous. Further understanding of the catalytic mechanism of TM-SACs applied to NO3 RR is of practical significance for exploring the design of stable and efficient SACs. In this review, from experimental and theoretical studies, the reaction mechanism, rate-determining steps, and essential variables affecting activity and selectivity are examined. The performance of SACs in terms of NO3 RR, characterization, and synthesis is then discussed. In order to promote and comprehend NO3 RR on TM-SACs, the design of TM-SACs is finally highlighted, together with the current problems, their remedies, and the way forward.

RESUMO

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by synovial inflammation, synoviocyte expansion and damage to cartilage and bone. We recently reported that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-γ inhibited the proliferation and activation of fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS), and was downregulated in RA synovial. In this study we investigated the role of PPAR-γ in RA and the underlying mechanisms. Adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) was induced in rats; from D15, AIA rats were orally administered pioglitazone (30 mg·kg-1·d-1) or rosiglitazone (4 mg·kg-1·d-1) for 14 days. Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) was induced in wild-type and Ppar-γ+/- mice. We showed that the expression of PPAR-γ was significantly reduced, whereas that of TNF-α was markedly increased in human RA FLS. In CIA mice, knockdown of PPAR-γ expression (Ppar-γ+/-) aggravated the ankle inflammation. Similarly, T0070907 (a PPAR-γ antagonist) or si-PPAR-γ promoted the activation and inflammation of TNF-α-induced FLS in vitro. On the contrary, administration of PPAR-γ agonist pioglitazone or rosiglitazone, or injection of ad-Ppar-γ into the ankle of AIA rat in vivo induced overexpression of PPAR-γ, reduced the paw swelling and inflammation, and downregulated activation and inflammation of FLS in RA. Interesting, injection of ad-Ppar-γ into the ankle also reversed the ankle inflammation in Ppar-γ+/- CIA mice. We conducted RNA-sequencing and KEGG pathway analysis, and revealed that PPAR-γ overexpression was closely related to p53 signaling pathway in TNF-α-induced FLS. Co-IP study confirmed that p53 protein was bound to PPAR-γ in RA FLS. Taken together, PPAR-γ alleviates the inflammatory response of TNF-α-induced FLS by binding p53 in RA.

RESUMO

Clarifying the influences of biochar input on the rhizosphere dissipation and plant absorption of pesticides is a crucial prerequisite for utilizing biochar in the restoration of pesticide-contaminated soils. Nevertheless, the application of biochar to pesticide-contaminated soils does not always achieve consistent results on the rhizosphere dissipation and plant absorption of pesticides. Under the new situation of vigorously promoting the application of biochar in soil management and carbon sequestration, a timely review is needed to further understand the key factors affecting biochar remediation of pesticide-contaminated soil. In this study, a meta-analysis was conducted utilizing variables from three dimensions of biochar, remediation treatment, and pesticide/plant type. The pesticide residues in soil and the pesticide uptake by plant were used as response variables. Biochar with high adsorption capacity can impede the dissipation of pesticides in soil and mitigate their absorption by plants. The specific surface area of biochar and the type of pesticide are critical factors that affect pesticide residues in soil and plant uptake, respectively. Applying biochar with high adsorption capacity, based on specific dosages and soil characteristics, is recommended for the remediation of continuously cultivated soil contaminated with pesticides. This article aims to provide a valuable reference and understanding for the application of biochar-based soil remediation technology and the treatment of pesticide pollution in soil.

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-pigmented and non-motile actinobacterium, designated strain SCSIO 67246T, was isolated from a stony coral sample collected from the Sanya sea area, Hainan province, China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain SCSIO 67246T shared the highest similarities with Nocardioides rotundus MCCC 1A10561T (96.5 %) and Nocardioides sonneratiae KCTC 39565T (96.1%). The novel strain grew at 15-37 °C, at pH 5.0-10.0 and in the presence of 0-10 % (w/v) NaCl. The genome length of strain SCSIO 67246T was 3.52 Mbp with a DNA G+C content of 72.0 mol% and 3397 protein-coding genes. The novel strain showed an average nucleotide identity value of 76.5 % and a digital DNA-DNA hybridization value of 20.1 % with N. rotundus MCCC 1A10561T. Strain SCSIO 67246T contained MK-8(H4) as the major menaquinone. The major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and five phospholipids. The major cellular fatty acids were iso-C16 : 0, C17 : 1 ω8c and summed feature 9 (iso-C17 : 1 ω9c/10-methyl C16 : 0). ll-2,6-Diaminopimelic acid was the diagnostic diamino acid. The whole-cell sugars were galactose, glucose and ribose. Based on this polyphasic taxonomic study, strain SCSIO 67246T represents a novel species of the genus Nocardioides, for which the name Nocardioides coralli sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SCSIO 67246T (=MCCC 1K06251T=KCTC 49719T).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Delta check (DC) is widely used for detecting sample mix-up. Owing to the inadequate error detection and high false-positive rate, the implementation of DC in real-world settings is labor-intensive and rarely capable of absolute detection of sample mix-ups. The aim of the study was to develop a highly accurate DC method based on designed deep learning to detect sample mix-up. METHODS: A total of 22 routine hematology test items were adopted for the study. The hematology test results, collected from two hospital laboratories, were independently divided into training, validation, and test sets. By selecting six mainstream algorithms, the Deep Belief Network (DBN) was able to learn error-free and artificially (intentionally) mixed sample results. The model's analytical performance was evaluated using training and test sets. The model's clinical validity was evaluated by comparing it with three well-recognized statistical methods. RESULTS: When the accuracy of our model in the training set reached 0.931 at the 22nd epoch, the corresponding accuracy in the validation set was equal to 0.922. The loss values for the training and validation sets showed a similar (change) trend over time. The accuracy in the test set was 0.931 and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.977. DBN demonstrated better performance than the three comparator statistical methods. The accuracy of DBN and revised weighted delta check (RwCDI) was 0.931 and 0.909, respectively. DBN performed significantly better than RCV and EDC. Of all test items, the absolute difference of DC yielded higher accuracy than the relative difference for all methods. CONCLUSIONS: The findings indicate that input of a group of hematology test items provides more comprehensive information for the accurate detection of sample mix-up by machine learning (ML) when compared with a single test item input method. The DC method based on DBN demonstrated highly effective sample mix-up identification performance in real-world clinical settings.

RESUMO

Fenton oxidation is a widely used method for the fast and efficient treatment of contaminated sediment, but few studies have investigated the management of Fenton-treated sediment for resource utilization. In this study, the evolutionary characteristics of bacterial community composition in Fenton-treated riverine sediment were investigated using 16S rRNA gene sequencing after the incorporation of rice straw biochar and sheep manure compost. The Fenton treatment caused a decline in the relative abundance of Bacteroidetes from 39% to 8% on the 7th day, and using biochar and compost rapidly increased the relative abundance of Firmicutes from 13% to 61% and 57%, respectively. Applying 1.25 wt% biochar after the Fenton treatment contributed to high Shannon diversity indices of 4.80, 4.69, and 4.76 on the 7th, 28th, and 56th day, respectively. The reduced differences of Shannon indexes on the 56th day indicated that the bacterial diversity among different treatments tended to be similar over time. The genera Flavisolibacter and Bacillus were representatively detected on the 7th day in the untreated sediment and Fenton/biochar-treated sediment, respectively. The number of feature bacteria decreased significantly from 88 on the 7th day to 29 on the 56th day. The community functions for the carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur cycles were sensitive to the Fenton-treatment and the subsequent treatment with biochar and compost. This study may provide a useful reference for follow-up work on the remediation of contaminated sediment using advanced oxidation processes, and promote the development of resource utilization of amended sediment.

RESUMO

Hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) misses the opportunity for surgery because it is not detected early. The molecular mechanism of hepatitis B-related liver cancer needs further understanding, and effective diagnostic and prognostic models are in urgent need. Expression profiles from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma (LIHC) and GSE121248, GSE94660, GSE76724 and GSE14520 from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database were obtained. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between normal and tumor HBV-related HCC samples. Gene pairs are generated by comparing the expression levels of every two DEGs. The diagnostic signature of pairs of DEGs was built using cross-validation Lasso and Best Subset Selection regression. Hub genes and significant modules were screened by Cytoscape, and potential drugs were predicted by DGIdb. The gene-pair based prognostic signature was established by Cox proportional hazards regression model. xCell and ssGSEA were utilized to reveal the cell composition and cancer hallmarks to get an elucidation for the risk. A total of 457 DEGs were screened. A powerful diagnostic signature of two pairs of DEGs was built and validated in TCGA-LIHC and GEO datasets repeatedly with assured performance. Ten Hub genes were screened out. The prognostic signature of four gene pairs had good efficacy both in training and validation cohorts, with stromal score and several hallmarks related to the increasing of risk. Taken together, the study provided sight into the molecular mechanism as well as a novel strategy for the early diagnosis and prognosis for HBV-related HCC.

RESUMO

A novel Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated strain GY 70310T, was isolated from the intestinal tract of Konosirus punctatus collected from Minjiang River, China. Cells of the strain were rod-shaped and motile with a single polar flagellum. The result of 16S rRNA gene sequence analyses showed that strain GY 70310T was moderately related to Crenobacter luteus YIM 78141T (94.7%), Paludibacterium paludis KBP-21T (93.8%) and Crenobacter cavernae K1W11S-77T (93.0%). The draft genome of strain GY 70310T consisted of 3.4 Mbp with DNA G+C content of 66.3 mol%, which possessed genes putatively encoding nitrate reductase, nitrite oxidoreductase and urease. The novel strain showed a whole genome average nucleotide identity (OrthoANI) value of 77.1% and a digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) value of 22.4% with Crenobacter luteus DSM 27258T, followed by Crenobacter cavernae K1W11S-77T with OrthoANI and dDDH values of 76.4% and 20.6%, respectively. The major fatty acids (>10%) were identified as summed feature 3 (C16:1ω6c and/or iso-C15:0 2-OH, C16:1ω7c), C16:0 and C18:1ω7c. The major respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-8 (Q-8). The polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified aminophospholipid, one unidentified lipid and one unidentified phospholipid. On the basis of phylogenetic analyses, genotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, strain GY 70310T represents a novel species of the genus Crenobacter, for which the name Crenobacter intestini sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is GY 70310T (= CGMCC 1.16821T = KCTC 62945T = NBRC 113900T).

RESUMO

Temporal transcriptome analysis combined with targeted metabolomics was employed to investigate the mechanisms of high sugar accumulation in fruit pulp of two contrasting mango cultivars. Ten sugar metabolites were identified in mango pulp with the most dominant being d-glucose. Analysis of the gene expression patterns revealed that the high-sugar cultivar prioritized the conversion of sucrose to d-glucose by up-regulating invertases and ß-glucosidases and increased other genes directly contributing to the synthesis of sucrose and d-glucose. In contrast, it repressed the expression of genes converting sucrose, d-glucose and other sugars into intermediates compounds for downstream processes. It also strongly increased the expression of alpha-amylases which may promote high degradation of starch into d-glucose. Besides, ¾ of the sugar transporters was strongly up-regulated, indicative of their preponderant role in sugar accumulation in mango fruit. Overall, this study provides a good insight into the regulation pattern of high sugar accumulation in mango pulp.

RESUMO

Semiconductor photocatalysis is a promising technology to tackle refractory antibiotics contamination in water. Herein, a facile in situ growth strategy is developed to implant single-atom cobalt in polymeric carbon nitride (pCN) via the bidentate ligand for efficient photocatalytic degradation of oxytetracycline (OTC). The atomic characterizations indicate that single-atom cobalt is successfully anchored on pCN by covalently forming the CoO bond and CoN bond, which will strengthen the interaction between single-atom cobalt and pCN. This single-atom cobalt can efficiently expand optical absorption, increase electron density, facilitate charge separation and transfer, and promote OTC degradation. As the optimal sample, Co(1.28%)pCN presents an outstanding apparent rate constant for OTC degradation (0.038 min-1 ) under visible light irradiation, which is about 3.7 times than that of the pristine pCN. The electron spin resonance (ESR) tests and reactive species trapping experiments demonstrate that the 1 O2 , h+ , •O2- , and •OH are responsible for OTC degradation. This work develops a new way to construct single-atom-modified pCN and provides a green and highly efficient strategy for refractory antibiotics removal.

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-positive, yellow-pigmented, catalase-positive and oxidase-negative, strictly aerobic actinobacterium, designated strain YIM 131853T, was isolated from lichen collected from the South Bank of the Baltic Sea. The novel strain was non-spore-forming, short rod-shaped and motile with a single polar flagellum. The strain could grow at 4-37 °C (optimum, 28 °C), at pH 4.0-12.0 (pH 6.0) and at 0-3 % (w/v) NaCl (1 %). The DNA G+C content of strain YIM 131853T based on the draft genome sequence was 68.3 mol%. Predominant cellular fatty acids (>10 %) were identified as anteiso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C17 : 0 and iso-C16 : 0. The polar lipid profile included diphosphatidylglycerol, dimannosyldiacylglycerol, three unknown glycolipids, two unknown phospholipids and one unknown lipid. Strain YIM 131853T had 2,4-diaminobutyric acid as the diagnostic cell-wall diamino acid, galactose and glucose as whole-cell sugars, and MK-10, MK-14, MK-13 and MK-12 as the major menaquinones. Although strain YIM 131853T exhibited a highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity (96.6 %) to Amnibacterium kyonggiense NBRC 109360T, phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the strain formed a tight lineage with Naasia aerilata NBRC 108725T (96.5 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity), which was the only species of genus Naasia. Based on the results of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic analyses, strain YIM 131853T should belong to the genus Naasia and represents a novel species of the genus Naasia, for which the name Naasia lichenicola sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is YIM 131853T (=CGMCC 4.7565T=NBRC 113605T).

RESUMO

A Gram-negative, motile, aerobic and coccoid rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain YIM132180T, was isolated from a Lepraria sp. lichen collected from Pu'er, Yunnan Province, China. The strain grew at 15-35 °C (optimum, 25-28 °C), at 0-2% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0-1%) and at pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0). The 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain YIM132180T had highest similarity (96.4%) with Aureimonas endophytica 2T4P-2-4T, followed by Aureimonas ureilytica NBRC 106430T (95.7%) and Aureimonas rubiginis CC-CFT034T (95.6%). Phylogenetic analysis showed that the strain grouped with species of the genus Aureimonas. RESUMO

PURPOSE: Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is a high-risk pregnancy, and placental dysfunction is the main cause of FGR. The upregulation of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) is linked to FGR pathology, but the mechanism needs to be investigated. METHODS: The levels of ADMA and other related molecules were measured in human biological samples. We further used human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) to reveal the mechanism of ADMA-induced FGR in vitro. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, FGR patients had higher placental resistance, and ADMA levels were increased in the maternal blood, cord blood, and placenta; additionally, nitric oxide (NO) production decreased, accompanied by a decreased expression of endogenous NO synthase (eNOS). The expression of vascular growth factor (VEGF) and placental growth factor (PLGF) in the maternal blood during the third trimester and umbilical cord of the FGR group was lower than the control group. The PLGF levels in the placentas of the FGR group were also reduced, while the expression of soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) increased. In in vitro cell experiments, NO production was obviously lower when the cells were exposed to 100 µM of ADMA, with no difference in eNOS expression. There was a dose-dependent decrease in PLGF expression with increasing doses of ADMA, and the levels of sFlt-1 increased. Moreover, we confirmed that tube formation in HUVECs was lower after ADMA treatment compared with the control group. CONCLUSION: The accumulation of ADMA during pregnancy has an adverse effect on fetal development via interference with placental endothelial function and angiogenesis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by a tumor-like expansion of the synovium and the subsequent destruction of adjacent articular cartilage and bone. Recent studies have shown that phosphatase and tension homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) might contribute to the surviva of fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) and the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in RA. The purpose of this study was to explore the functions and underlying mechanisms of PTEN in the proliferation and migration of FLSs. METHODS: FLSs were obtained from adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) and normal rats. The expression levels of PTEN, c-Myc, cyclin D1, PCNA, and MMP-9 were detected by quantitative-real-time-PCR and western blot assay. A BrdU proliferation assay, cell cycle analysis, and a wound-healing assay were used to study the role of PTEN in FLSs treated with PTEN inhibitor bpv, specific small interfering RNA targeting PTEN (PTEN-RNAi) or a PTEN over-expression vector (PTEN-GV141). Chromatin immunoprecipitation and methylation-special PCR assays were used to study the expression of PTEN mRNA in the presence of DNA methylation. RESULTS: PTEN expression was downregulated in AIA FLSs in comparison to normal rats. Moreover, inhibition of PTEN expression by bpv or PTEN-RNAi could promote the proliferation and migration of FLSs, and increase the expression of c-Myc, cyclin D1, PCNA, and MMP-9 in AIA FLSs, but had no effect on TIMP-1 expression. In addition, transfection of AIA FLSs with PTEN-GV141 reduced their proliferation and migration. Further study indicated that DNA methylation could regulate PTEN expression in AIA. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that PTEN might play a pivotal role in the proliferation and migration of FLSs through the activation of the AKT signaling pathway. Additionally, PTEN expression may be regulated by DNA methylation in the pathogenesis of AIA.

RESUMO

A novel Gram-stain-positive, catalase- and oxidase-positive, endospore-forming bacterium, designated GY 10110T, was isolated from mangrove soil collected from Qinzhou, Guangxi province, China. Cells were aerobic, motile with peritrichous flagella and rod-shaped. The strain grew at 15-37 °C (optimum, 28 °C), at 0-3 %(w/v) NaCl (1 %) and at pH 6.0-9.0 (pH 7.0). The major fatty acids of strain GY 10110T were anteiso-C15 : 0, iso-C15 : 0 and iso-C16 : 0. The predominant menaquinone was MK-7. The cell-wall peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid. The polar lipid profile comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphoglycolipid, glycolipid, two unidentified aminophospholipids and three unidentified phospholipids. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain GY 10110T was closely related to Falsibacillus pallidus CCTCC AB 207188T (98.0 % sequence similarity) and Bacillus oceanisediminis CGMCC 1.10115T (96.9 %), respectively. The G+C content of strain GY 10110T based on the whole genome sequence was 42.3 mol%. The novel strain showed an average nucleotide identity (ANI) value of 77.8 % and a digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) value of 15.6 % with Falsibacillus pallidus CCTCC AB 207188T based on draft genome sequences, followed by Bacillus oceanisediminis CGMCC 1.10115T with ANI and dDDH values of 75.2 and 12.8 %, respectively. The results of the polyphasic taxonomic study, including phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic analysis, showed that strain GY 10110T represents a novel species of the genus Falsibacillus, for which the name Falsibacillus albus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is GY 10110T (=CGMCC 1.13648T=NBRC 113502T).

RESUMO

The good performance of base metal catalysts for the electrooxidation of organic pollutants has attracted great attention. However, base metal phosphides for electrooxidation are seldom studied owing to the sluggish water adsorption and dissociation dynamics, which will hinder the production of the sorbed hydroxyl radicals (M(•OH)) and thus inhibit the electrooxidation of organic pollutants. Herein, we proposed a universal strategy to improve the electrooxidation capability of metal phosphides by modulating the surface electron densities. The electron interactions between cobalt (Co) and phosphorus (P) are modulated after iron doping, resulting in more positively charged Co and more negatively charged P, which can promote the adsorption and activation of water molecules and produce large quantities of M(•OH). Meanwhile, the experimental results show that the iron-modulated Fe0.53Co0.47P nanosheet arrays exhibit higher removal efficiency of tetracycline than the boron-doped diamond and Pt anode at low current intensity. Based on experimental results and density functional theory + U calculations (DFT + U), it is found that Fe0.53Co0.47P has lower barrier (0.45 eV) to form the sorbed hydroxyl radicals (M(•OH)) and higher overpotential to produce O2 than its counterparts, suggesting that Fe0.53Co0.47P can produce more M(•OH) instead of O2. The above results highlighted the feasibility of these base metal phosphides for electrooxidation for advanced water purification.
