RESUMO

Introduction: Over the past ten years, parents have become more involved in choosing the aesthetic restorations for their ward. The strip crown and the prefabricated zirconia crown are some of the common anterior aesthetic complete crowns. The purpose of this study is to examine parental satisfaction over a one-year period in children aged three to five with "Strip Crowns" versus "Preformed Primary Anterior Zirconia Crowns". Materials and Procedures: Current study included 20 children. Among them their both central incisors were restored using the two varieties of crowns. The distribution of participants was done using the permuted block randomization approach. Twenty parents who participated were called back over a year to complete the questionnaire. The data was collected and compared while the statistics are deemed significant at P < 0.05. Results: Both restoration options received positive feedback from parents. With strip crowns, there was a statistically significant correlation between overall happiness and longevity of the restoration (P = 0.003) and color (P = 0.033) in zirconium crowns. The parents who expressed less pleasure with the strip crowns' longevity and the color of zirconia crowns did so overall, though. Conclusion: In conclusion, prefabricated primary anterior zirconia crowns were more popular with parents than strip crowns. All other criteria were about equally well-liked by parents, with the exception of longevity, which was more common for zirconia crowns.

RESUMO

Introduction: The world has been transformed after invention of robotics, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Their application in the medical field is well recorded; however, their application in dentistry is still being recognized. Hence, in our study, we aimed to analyze the advances in research trends in the digital and the robotics specifically to the dental fields. Material and Methods: We conducted a search for articles that recorded the use of robots, digitalization, and artificial intelligence in dentistry, specifically in endodontics. We piloted a questionnaire study to evaluate the awareness and application of these technologies by the clinicians. The results are presented as various applications of these technologies and the number of the articles for various terminologies. The application of these technologies was compared between the clinicians using ANOVA, with P < 0.05 being significant. Results: We observed a significant difference between the clinicians regarding the application of these technologies and lower awareness was noted. None of the participants used these technologies in practice. Of the total 20 articles that we had finalized, we observed that these technologies helped in studying the various pathologies and structures that were unviewed previously, as well as treatments, prognosis, and outcomes. Conclusions: There is a low awareness of these advanced technologies and application in routine practice. These technologies show greater precision and accuracy. However, the application of these in daily clinical practice and the economy are to be evaluated.

RESUMO

The accuracy and variability of the composition of oral rehydration solution (ORS) prepared by village health workers using (i) a finger measurement technique and (ii) a special ORS measuring spoon were compared. The sodium and sucrose concentrations were measured in 130 ORSs prepared by each technique. All the spoon-measured ORSs had acceptable levels of sodium and sucrose, compared with 93% of the finger-measured ORSs. Only 2.3% of finger-measured ORSs had hypertonic sodium levels. The variability of sodium and sucrose levels was significantly greater with the finger measurement technique. This comparison should assist programme managers to decide which technique to adopt. Both techniques require careful instruction to ensure accuracy.

RESUMO

A cross-sectional survey of the nutritional status of 1223 preschool-age children was carried out in a development area in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Altogether, 45% of the children were underweight (low weight-for-age), 51% were stunted (low height-for-age), and 21% were wasted (low weight-for-height). The rates of severe malnutrition using any of these criteria were low, and only 9.6% of the children were both wasted and stunted. The nature of the malnutrition strongly depended on age group. Rates of stunting increased with age, reaching 63% in the fifth year of life, whereas rates of wasting peaked at 36% in the second year of life and declined to 14% in the fifth year. Surveys that are designed to produce information on stunting and wasting are important in the planning and evaluation of nutrition intervention programmes.
